*Saiyans Prison, Somewhere on Blehbarry*
'Where is this damn moon? Did Jarvis destroyed it without me noticing? Or it's just a clever technology hiding it from us saiyans? Maybe this whole sky is just a trick to give the last of us whose fighting spirit still burns.'
Hotato get up from his bed and begin to walk in circles on his cell. His legs where becoming dormant and he can't allow himself to become dulled by this kind of ill, not even in the slightest. A series of exercises everyday together with his developed resilience, from the times when he went to conquer planets in the name of the Empire and had nothing but his own skills and wits to survive in harsh alien environments while fighting other races, were the reason he was able to keep his full strength. All he is given to eat and gain sustenance from is a one day meal...actually, it was more like a grey, tasteless and stinking to out-dated sludge than a meal, but it kept him from starve to death at least.
'I can't feel the Caesar's power. Did he finally tire of showing off or had he gone away from the planet? That would be a perfect situation, with Jarvis gone the defenses of Vege...of this planet would be drastically reduced...but where is this damn moon?!' - he breathes deep, heaving, then turning to his cellmate.
- How? At least I want to understand how could our entire race lose to Jarvis Blehbarry! You said the Prince was on the throne of Vegeta when everything happened, a Legendary Super Saiyan no less!, holding power superior to a common super saiyan. How could someone that powerful have lost a fight?!
The old man turned to face the youngster, pulling his blanket, a brown, stinking and dirt piece of rag that could've cover only half the elder's body. Hotato then gave him his own. He disliked it anyway, even having to use worst methods to cover himself other times. The elder than spoke:
- The Caesar came like a lightning, that is in fact something he proud himself of, his speed. The power he possessed then was only a half the amount he possess now but still able to defeat our elites and face the Prince, who some say was still injured from the time he went to fight on planet Earth. The Saiyan Empire had declined too much since your time young one, even powerful saiyans like the Executor Koko and Miso were defeated on the fight between the Empire and the Alliance. But you are right in doubt, if we had not stopped our ways, if we had organized sooner even without a good leadership. Maybe we wouldn't have lost so much strength, and would be able to fight back.
Hotato nodded:
- Last night I remembered my time on the Academy. We would have be beaten, we would have bled, we would be left on the ground with broken bones and punctured organs. Weakness existed, but it could be forgiven had the weak got up again and tried to keep fighting. No old man, wasn't weakness that killed the Empire - Hotato pull his hand to his chest, next to his heart, and clenches it into a fist - What killed us was the only thing we couldn't forgive on the Academy: Surrender. For us that lived through the Academy, no, the true saiyan beliefs, we knew that the only thing that kill us is the lack of will. Only by defeating ourselves we can be defeated.
- I never could enlist on the Academy, my power level wasn't high enough. Tell me of your time at the Academy kid, you speak like you loved the place all the others called hell.
- Heh! Hell? Hell is this place old man. The Academy was heaven for true saiyan fighters...the memories...are seared in my body...
*Vegeta's Coliseum, 1577*
The sound of fighting was muffled by the sound of the crowd, screaming and roaring from the terrace, cheering his champions names and asking for more violence. On the arena, a thirteen hundred still fighting, from the previous three thousand that entered. Blood have painted almost all the arena, and even if death was permited, none of the fighters had being victim of it. Some battles were happening near the crowd, but even the closer fights were overshadowed by the spectacle on the middle arena. The five most powerful fighters were fighting amongst themselves while repelling the weaker at the same time, the smaller one took distance, knocking three weaklings away before charging his technique:
- Haaaaaaaaah...TAKE THIS!!! - said Hotato while blasting his Energy Wave Volley, a technique that shoots continuous blasts of energy in rapid sequency.
The attack caused multiple blasts on the center of the arena, rising dirt and smoke, and when this subsided, 3 of the 4 fighters had only small injuries while one of them had gone to the ground. Hotato aimed for this situation and was happy that he could knock out the Number 4.
- Who's next? - he wasn't being arrogant, but simply taunting the others, trying to create a gap on their defenses - No one? Are you really that scared?
In response the Number 2 went to face him.
- Should've waited your turn pipsqueak - and jumped towards Hotato with a lot of energy concentrated in his arm, ready to punch.
'The Academy techs won't help you that much here' - and when Number 2 hit his target, he noticed it was only a mirage - 'I know them all already!' - and Hotato countered with a kick to the neck. Very effective, but his adversary still had enough strength to turn around and hit him with a chop from the right hand at Hotato's side rib cage (Ribs Breaker). This time Hotato's decided to take the hit, after all, he wasn't much injured and that technique wasn't able to do much damage to him, but now, Number 2 has fallen into his strategy and was vulnerable. Quickly grabbing Number 2's arm, Hotato put his hand on his target face:
- So, you are the next! - said Hotato with a smirk on his face.
- Do-don't do it plea-... - And before finishing his plea, Hotato blasts a point-blank energy sphere (Big Bang Attack) at Number 2's face, that completely vanished. Hotato's face as now dead serious.
- ...true saiyans never surrender...no mercy for trash like you - and then he turns to watch the battle between the Academy Number 1, Kabito, and the Number 3, his friend Sarada.
Both fighters were just measuring his opponents capabilities, a tactic that Hotato wasn't very fond of, but knew that it is the best way against evenly matched adversaries. Kabito was a average sized saiyan with well defined muscles and precise movements. His most powerful technique was an energy wave he creates by concentrating energy on his right hand and punching straight forward and his favorite strategy was rendering his opponent unable to move by hitting with a melee move combination, capable of stunning the victim, and then landing his energy punch. Hotato learned about it when he were were about to travel to another planet and the other saiyans talked on the hangar about Kabito's feats. Kabito's is a difficult for, having years of training AND real combat experience.
Sarada on the other hand was a above the average size for a female saiyan girl and surprisingly agile for her size. If Kabito was the technical type, she was the savage type, with crazy improved movements and non-ending energy. Of all the sparring partners Hotato had, she was the one that gave him more trouble, even counting the teachers. She had no pattern at all in her combat style, always adapting the Academy fighting style to the situation, and that was probably her best shot against Kabito's methodical style.
Both fighters moved at the same time. Sarada dashed towards Kabito that had began with an energy blast. The saiyaness dodged the blast with a slight shift on her path, not stopping. There was only 3 feet separating them now, Kabito decide to take stance and wait for Sarada's move, and when the distance was closed the saiyan girl did a backflip, the seasoned fighter were confused for a second - 'That's a normal reaction, he have not done his research. She won't do any orthodox fight against you man' - using her own body to hide her hands, Sarada charged energy on them and quickly shoot them in mid-air - "DOUBLE SUNDAY!!!". The two waves of pink energy were about to reach him, when Kabito regained his composure and jumped forward between the waves - "Gotcha!" - and Sarada crossed her arms, the waves followed, hitting the walls of the coliseum in front of her in an arc, and every other contestant left there, Kabito too was hit and suffered quiet the damage. Sarada then posed mocking her opponent, flipping him off and hitting her own chest.
- So this is the power of the Number 1? Not that impressed, look, even the brat finished off Number 2. I guess fighting Kolds is easier than surviving the Academy this days - mocked Sarada.
- Hunf...well, let's test your theory then. Don't blink.
Finishing talking, Kabito disappeared from Sarada sight, and reappearing behind her, delivering a punch to Sarada's face, then kicks her upwards, rushes upward from below, kicking her brutally in the stomach and ending with a elbow that sends her downwards. Several minutes passes, and Sarada is still down (Spirit Breaking Cannon).
- So...my turn? - says Hotato looking up and smiling.
- If you wish, but kid...you are weak than her, you know that right?
- What are you talking about? Of course not! - charging his power to max, Hotato flies towards Kabito and they start fighting mid-air - I'm the stronger one!
The fight was even, with Hotato winning with speed and Kabito's skills preventing any attack from the younger saiyan. When both tried a heavy blow, they were knocked away from each other. Kabito is the first to recover and prepares an energy attack in his right hand, and when Hotato was able to react again had no time to dodge and blocking it would most likely leave him badly damaged. So before he even realize his body acted on instinct and fire his most powerful technique, taught to him by his mother on while he was still on his incubation chamber. His body was surrounded by an purple energy, much different from his normal orange color, while he curls his fingers and places both his hands together at chest level facing the same direction. He then thrusts both hands forward to fire a powerful purple blast of energy.
- Galik gun...FIREEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- That is the spirit!!! - and Kabito also fires his technique - FINAL SHINE ATTACK!!!!!!!
Both techniques collide and a struggle begins, with no clear difference in power. The coliseum darkened, the only source of light was now the beam struggle on it's center, one side purple and the other white-green shocking in the middle of the arena, and then it begins to move. Kabito's attack grow stronger and start to slowly but constantly push Hotato's. Nine feet, eight feet, seven, six, five, four feet and it kept getting close. Hotato should have been angry with the situation, or at least concerned, but in truth he was overjoyed! He was having the fight of his life so far, and had stand his ground for longer than he was expecting, he could lose now...but then...the idea of giving up was against everything he believed, and he had one more card to show. Slowly descending to the ground, Hotato search for all his inner rage, proceeding to release it in the form of a large flaming aura. Suddenly his power sky rockets and there's no more beam struggle, only Hotato's Galik Gun, plus Kabito's own technique, overwhelming the Number 1 and flying towards the sky.
Kabito managed to survive, although his body was seriously injured and would certainly need a day or two at the hospital. He kept looking to the sky, thinking about how he was almost crushed by the young boastful brat. And then he remembered, they were still fighting, quickly looking down and searching for Hotato. He was there, covered in an powerful blazing aura that just kept increasing - 'What the hell is this kid? I have to fight serious or I will die!' - Fear put Kabito in alert and he prepared to receive another super attack when as suddenly as it appeared, the aura vanished and with it the power boost. Hotaro's last memory was looking up to his opponent with fear on his face. After that, darkness...
