Hisashi would begin her training at the crack of dawn. Atsuko was gone, Ayami was distressed, and Hisashi had yet to meet any other knights aside from Cambia. But from how it appeared, she would be far too busy taking care of her child. As much as Hisashi wanted to get stronger and be useful to her comrades, friends, family, and other such things, it was beginning to feel like it wouldn't even help. She was weak.. plain and simple. Probably the weakest out there, say for Hwa. But that sort of thing didn't seem to get to her as much as it did Hisashi. 'What does it mean to be a knight?' Hisashi asked as she swung a practice sword at the air. She stood on the shore of one of the southern islands. One that looked out towards the sun down over the seemingly endless expanse of ocean water. The wolf girl honestly didn't know- all she had to go off thus far was the examples of others. Atsuko was both calm and kind, but by no means did that take away from the strong presence she gave off. Hisashi knew not to underestimate her. Ayami was the same, however she was far more playful, and when you did start to piss her off she was like a inevitable tsunami. 'Water..' That was it. Water.. Ayami was a water elemi, no?
Hisashi shook her head in disagreement. She tossed her practice sword onto the ground, very clearly distraught. "That's dumb.. So dumb." She muttered to herself as she pulled her knees to her chest and rested her chin on them, gazing out towards the ocean. 'Why is this so hard? Why will no one help me?' Hisashi thought to herself, brow furrowed and eyes full of hate. Her emotions were making her think and act in ways that she would not usually think. Usually, she would be this affectionate little wolf girl that wanted nothing more than for her friends and family to be safe and sound, and content as well. Her cuteness was all she had going for her, and she hated it.. More than anything, really. But that wasn't saying much as she was hardly a hateful person. If there were anything else she hated, it was her mother. 'Is that why mother left? Is it because I'm so weak? Probably, maybe others will do just the same as time goes on.. People will just get stronger, and I'll be in the background. No one telling me anything while they go off and fight, even die..'
Tears welled up in the corner of Hisashi's eyes, but she would not allow herself to cry. She blamed herself for the death of Chris- she hadn't known him, but she had learned he was a knight. And just a child, at that. 'Child.. pah, I'm just a pup, too.' She shook her head with an irritated sigh. 'If I had just been stronger, I could've helped.. I could have been useful! I'm nothing more than a fuzzy tail and some fluffy ears- that's all I'll ever be.' In the midst of her self-loathing, Hisashi wished she could've cut off her ears and tail. Just to see what people would think of her then. It would be horrendously painful, yes. But what could be more painful than all her friends dying because she was nothing more than some cuddle buddy?
Not to get her wrong, she did indeed love the affection. She loved the attention her animal features got her.. But if was only that part of her that earned her this love and affection, then she was nothing. Actually nothing. Nada, zilch. Did her fluffy tail win fights? No. Did her fuzzy ears prevent the death of a knight? No. They did nothing- they were worth nothing. Hisashi was worth nothing- or so she felt. 'I just wanted to be strong. Evidently, that was too much to ask..'
Tessaiga had searched for her daughter almost all day. When it came to recent events, he was completely in the dark. If Hisashi thought she were completely left behind, she didn't know the half of it. The wolf girl at least had a basic summary. Tessaiga didn't really care to know, though. He knew how weak he was and knew it would be even harder for him to catch up than it would be Hisashi- and Hisashi was pretty much stuck. He landed on the beach a good distance away from Hisashi, taking notice of the state she was in. Hisashi was sitting in the sand, knees up to her chest with arms around them and her face hidden.
Lacking in knowledge or otherwise, Tessaiga knew it was time to let those parental instincts kick in. Taking a deep breath he walked over to his daughter and sat down beside her, gently placing one arm around her and pulling her close without breaking her position. You would think that because Hisashi hadn't been looking, she would become startled and shove Tessaiga away. But a pup knew it's mother and father as well as it did it's own territory, and so the touch was recognizable. "Tell me what's wrong, sweetie.." The father would say gently as he ran a hand through Hisashi's hair. He knew just delicate Hisashi's emotional state was right now, and so he tried to be as gentle as possible as to not make her cry.
"I'm weak, father.. I can't do anything more than patrol a couple of forests- I can't even do that right!" Hisashi began her rant with ease. If it were her father, she could pour everything out to him and expect little to no backlash. All he could give to her was advice- just as any parent should. "I understand why you always said to just leave people well enough alone, and I never listened.. I would always go into cities. Visit places outside the eastern lands. I should have listened to you. If I had just never climbed that damn tower, I wouldn't feel so hurt right now."
Tessaiga would tighten his grip around Hisashi as he knew her anger was rising. He knew where it would lead, too. He had known for years.. Hisashi was an elemi, but she was more than that as well. She had a dark sort of power within her. One that turned her into a feral beast with near limitless energy. With a power he could only ever dream of his daughter having. "Mother left us because I'm weak, right? Because she knew I'd be a failure?!" Tessaiga would shake his head. "Not true.. Never, no.." It pained the man to know that Hisashi had been thinking of her mother like this. How long had this gone on? Her entire life? Had the wolf girl always felt this neglected?
"I've been a horrible father, Hisashi.. I know I have. I know I'm not perfect- but I've done everything I can to try and prepare you for the world thats out there. Or at least, it's people. But you gained so much from your mother that sometimes it makes my head spin! You feel obligated to protect everything.. it's just in your nature, and when you're not able to do that because of power or otherwise, you just get so upset. Just like her." Tessaiga began to explain. He would not sit in silence. He would not allow to Hisashi think badly of her own mother. "You're growing up so very quickly. I'm astounded by how much you've grown.. how much stronger you are than me. When you were just twelve you could knock me flat on my rear in a swordfight. Nowadays you play with me more than you do train with me, and it makes me proud! I'm prouder than you than you know. You're my pride and joy, and nothing will ever change that." Hisashi would listen as her father spoke. She didn't fully understand.. or maybe she just didn't want to. There was still no explanation as to why mother left. And this whole proud thing was seeming more like a means of brushing the subject off.
Hisashi sighed, knowing she would not get the answers she seeked from her father.. She would have to find them on her own somehow. Quit riding on the backs of others and go on her own journey to become her own person. Get out there and explore, see as much as she can while she's in her prime and learn what she can from the people she meets. "Thanks, father.." She muttered softly, leaning against her father and allowing herself to melt into his embrace.
