“I have a friend to save.”
Flare was sitting in the driver’s seat of a newer car of hers. One of the few capable of actually going through space. It was a nice personal mode of transportation; Used both as a land vehicle and spaceship in one. She hadn’t dared use it until she had Jax fully learned in it. Hell, she was bad at riding in her normal hover car without the poor guy. Not that she needed it after he got destroyed. Lucky for this terrible excuse of a licensed driver this thing had autopilot to carry her through this.
“I’m sick and tired of not being there when I was needed. You know exactly why I’m heading off. You always read me all too well even without the mind reading you put on.”
Tabitha, residing just beside the car, frowned at the youth as Flare was also busy inputting Kyuri’s Stellar coordinates into an on-board computer. Then there was silence for the short moment. Nothing more than the clicks of a few buttons and gentle hum of the engine. Auntie herself looked around anxiously, playing a bit with her own hair. There was something ad to say to rebut. Something to keep her child away from this damning path she’s now taking.
“-... Jackie.”
Tabitha eventually spoke up by the time the car started a slow roll outside the garage. It was almost set for takeoff at that point. The young flame clinched her fists and looked back out the open window at her caretaker. A few stray flames here and there, nothing too much.
“Yes, I know. I know, be careful. I’ll come back, you hear me? I’ll come back and make the worlds better! What I have here? Economically sufficient. After I’m done with avenging those I’ve lost I’ll make it even better for us all here!” She threw the car’s door open for the moment and yelled out for all nearby to hear. “No more being on the sidelines. Money or fame doesn’t convince these bad people. My fists are more linguistically charged for that cause.” She continued on around the car and stopped right beside the older lady and stopped to take her hand in her own.
“It’s what you had done in the past, was it not? I’m not a little girl anymore, tied up in these nonsensical dreams. We all have limits of what’s doable, and fate sometimes doesn’t allow us to do what we want… I’m ready to break that limit for myself. And hopefully let everyone else fully realize their own dreams. I won’t fail you… Mom.”
In a sudden turn she caught herself starting to collect tears on her face. Almost simultaneously the two pulled each other in a warm embrace that didn’t seem to both Tabitha despite being partly licked by sporadic flames. For a moment she had cried on the older woman’s shoulder but suddenly got pushed away… A single hand still clasped onto her shoulder, another coming up to dry the tears from her face.
“My child, t’hla. Go. Save your comrades. Nothing but your own mind will come to stop you… Just, please do not get careless. The ma is even stronger than before from what I can tell.”
Flare took it all in with a smile and rested a hand on the one clamping onto her shoulder for a while before both of them pried away from the embrace.
“Just… in case I don’t come back. You’ll find the usual stuff in my secret place. Please, for the love of the kais don’t read the diary though. Thing’s plagued with old teenage thoughts.”
She’d jest with a snort, the both of the laughing at the rather poor joke with some tension. “I guess this’ll be it for a while. Finally have the time to set out to the stars. An excuse, more like it.” Flare continued to muse over as the young flame clambered on back into the ship and closed up shop, windows and doors alike clamping down as well as becoming pressurized from inside. As the audio from outside came to a mute the two shared some mutual goodbyes through their telepathy.
SWOOOOSH
With the autopilot on the ship jettisoned off planet at an incredible speed, easily breaking through the atmosphere. As she soared through the empty space of her galaxy she started to see the beauty she had dreamt of back when she and her best friend hoped to be space explorers. It was a good idea to rest before approaching Natto at this point but the stars… The nebuli, the ever extensive images of the universe itself encapsulated the youth. She need not have any other detractor; Space itself was sufficient.
“This is for you, Sani. I’m here to experience it for the both of us.”
