Carmel’s suite was quite the quiet place, mostly due to being close to the top floor. Far too big for her – and she was mentally kicking herself a bit for not realising that the package was meant for a family when she saw the size of the suite – it made a good enough spot to get to talk with the Elemi without his ego getting in the way what with the lack of other people to witness him being supposedly weak.
Case in point, his denial of crying. Carmel just chose to let that one go instead of prodding him with snark about where all the tears were coming from; she could do that later when he was in a better headspace. Besides, he did raise a good question that she needed an answer for.
Why? That was certainly the question of the hour, why was she even bothering to try to help out the same bratty teenager that had knocked her over earlier? She couldn’t quite answer him at first despite knowing that she did need one, and chose to put things off by just patting his head as she worked out how to phrase things…..but wasn’t it her policy to not waste time and energy overthinking these kind of things anyway? Obviously she’d filter a bit to not be overly blunt here but he was supposedly a mercenary, he’d probably appreciate some directness.
“Just because you can do something by yourself, doesn’t mean you have to.” And that was the crux of things. There was no need to walk alone, and given his reaction, he didn’t really want to. “There’s nothing wrong with having emotions, or wanting someone to care. And, well you’ve managed to grow on me a bit with your mop hair.” She added, ruffling said hair. She was a bit surprised to note that it was true; he did annoy her, but there was something good beneath that ego that just needed some sane guidance to come to the surface. And she was looking to be a master of a whole school right? Guiding one wayward teen ought to be a good test of if she could truly handle that level of responsibility.
Why was this random lady who has only met the kid for less than a day, and not even on good terms willing to help him out? He wronged her, yet ended up buying him a drink....despite not knowing the real reason it was bought. She then takes him in, and away from the people so they won't see him break down. Why? Why not just leave him out there, and brave his own conflicts? So many questions went through his mind as the tears he tried his best to fight back, started to roll down his cheeks, his arms crossed as he looked away.
Even as Caramel silently patted the boy's head, he'd continue to look away, not even trying to bat her hand off of him. He didn't approve of it, but he wasn't entirely against it neither. Right now, he just wanted his question answer, and soon he would get it.
The moment the zoan started to speak, Spark would glance over, an irritated look still riddled on his face. But, taking things on alone would make him tougher...or at least that's where his mindset is at. This lady has no idea what she was talking about! Wanting someone to care? Spark simply rolled his eyes before letting out a weak, "Whatever..." she'd then ruffle his hair as she continued, confessing that he actually grew on her. With that, Spark glanced away, a smile creeping up halfway before reverting back to a more annoyed one. "Would ya stop that! You're gonna get your stink all over my hair!" he complained, rubbing his eyes with an arm before shaking his head, attempting to get that hand off of him which made himself a bit dizzy, resulting in him falling on his butt.
He mumbled annoyingly before sighing. "Caramel...." he moved his face further away from the fox so she couldn't see it. "You're not that ba....." he then quickly shook his head before rephrasing. "You...don't really smell that bad.....or whatever...." he shrugged with a quick sniff.
Carmel didn’t know what she was going to do about this kid. He was seemingly well into the surly teenager phase that some people apparently went through but at least he was a bit easier to deal with right now. The kid even got around to somewhat meandering around to a half baked apology!
“Haah, I suppose that’s the closest you’re liable to ever get to an apology. We’ll probably have to work on that one….” Carmel mused. “But it’s a start I suppose. Under any event, since I actually am watching out for you now, that means your antics reflect on me. Which also means that I’m going to make sure that you don’t go and do anything embarrassing kid.” Now would be the proper time for the thunder and lightning clouds to roll in but alas, it remained quite sunny so she had to sub in some extra intimidation.
“You wanted to learn how to throw things around with your mind? Okay then, I’m going to train that mind of yours until I figure out how, or get some sense into you!” Books flew out like a storm of educational pain, Carmel’s book collection lined up like an executioner’s squad. “You are going to learn little brother, learn until you bleed.”
Heh, there were some perks to being a big sister after all!
Spark finally returned to his feet, arms crossed as the fox spoke. "Bah, apologizing is for the weak...." he claimed, wiping the remainder of the tears from his eyes. It seemed he was just about finished....sweating out his eyes, but he certainly wasn't finished with being a brat. He continued to listen to his new...."sister" ramble on about things he really didn't care for. He wasn't exactly sure what to think about this fluff butt wanting to teach him manners, but he was going to make sure to give this woman a hard time throughout it, a small wicked grin developing on his face.
Though, deep down, he actually was happy that somebody decided to take interest in him, despite his stubbornness.
She then brought something up that really got his attention, perking his head up in excitement as he looked over to Caramel. Was she...really going to teach him how to do that voodoo stuff!? He clenched his fists in joy as he bit his lower lip, waiting for the teaching to unravel....until the books became to show up. "No..." his arms dropped to his side as his excited expression turned to a shocked one. "No...." he repeated once more, backing up a bit. Nobody told him that READING would be involved in any of this!! Finally, he backed up against a wall before shouting out one more....
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
He....really disliked books.
