"Lord Cervez, sir?" Turning towards the voice of his companion, the addressed being in question rose an eyeridge at the Demonic Wolf walking a few steps behind him. Samael opened his mouth a few times before closing it, his thick brows furrowing like he was thinking deeply about his question before asking it, or simply wondering if it was okay to question Cervez's motives for coming here in the middle of smack dab nowhere in a random island thrown around this region. From up high when they flew over to this place, all of the islands looked to the Demon Wolf like jigsaw puzzles that a child threw around in a temper tantrum since they didn't seem to connect or have any sort of end or beginning to them at all.
"What is it, Samael?" Cervez prodded firmly but kind, not really in the mood for having his companion become meek in his presence every time he wanted to ask a question or voice his opinion. Like he had said to the Demon Wolf some days ago when they first met and Samael swore loyalty to him, he needed allies and people that could have his back, not feeble sheep that couldn't think for themselves without becoming a nervous wreck.
If Samael didn't change his attitude by the end of the month, then he was out.
Wincing at the prodding, Samael was quick to finish where he trailed off. "What are we doing here? Are you planning on destroying this place?" If his Master wanted to, he'd make sure to stand on the lookout and stop anyone that wished to interfere, for who were they to question the might of a God?
Cervez merely leveled a deadpan look at the sandy-furred Demon Wolf. "I'd love nothing more than finally carry out what my Species is wont to do, but that will be for later. I have some plans for that later on anyway, so don't you worry." He turned back and kept walking, leaving his companion behind as he stared at Cervez's back with his head tilted to the side, like a puppy that found something that confused it greatly. "So then... why are we here?" The question was repeated once again, and hopefully this time there would be an answer to it.
Humming under his breath, the Anubian stopped moving and turned to address his vassal, now standing a respectable distance away to follow with the first phase of his plan. "See, Samael. I asked you a question the first time we met, do you remember what it was?"
"Um..." Rubbing the back of his nape, the Demon Wolf tilted his head to the other side, one ear standing floppily while the other was erect towards the skies. His eyes shifted from the corner of his eyes from top to bottom as he raked his mind for an answer. "You mean... the sheep thing?"
"Yes, Samael, 'the sheep thing'," Snorting in amusement, Cervez brought his arms from behind his back towards his front, and began to slowly do a few set of warmups for what was to come, his Demon simply watching him do it from a distance with a curious expression. "I told you that I didn't want a mindless follower, a sheep that cannot do anything but worship the ground its shepherd walks upon, merely a meatshield for the incoming slaughter."
At the mere thought, Cervez made his displeasure know by spitting to the side, the action making Samael splay his ears against his skull. "M-Master?" Ignoring his ally's concerned tone with a dismissive wave of his hand, the Anubian continued from where left off. "Which brings me back to the point of your question, what exactly are we doing here?" The Jackal humanoid had a feeling that that phrase has lost almost all meaning, seeing as the both of them keep repeating it many times now like they were parrots.
Planting his hands on his hips and shifting his footing so his feet were wide apart, the Anubian slowly pushed his front outward while inclining himself backward, closing his eyes briefly as he felt the satisfying pops of his back muscles slowly loosening their tense posture. "So we got over the fact that I don't want a simple minded fool for a follower, now that that's out of the way," Straightening his posture, the Anubian's demeanor suddenly shifted as a purple toxic aura slowly exuded from every pore in his body. "Do you have what it takes to even dare walk beside me?"
"W-what?!"
It happened so suddenly, one moment his Master was all the way over there, and in the next he was merely two feet in the air, his leg already extended in a spinning arc to drive his heel against his chest. With lightning fast reflexes, the Demon Wolf crossed his arms in an X formation over his chest, a meaty thwack echoing soon after as Cervez's foot made contact with his forearms, the force behind that kick being strong enough to send Samael skidding harshly against the ground, his feet leaving deep trenches as he desperately tried to regain his footing.
Once he stopped moving, the Demon Wolf uncrossed his arms and frantically waved them around. "Ow ow ow ow~! Oi! What's the big idea!?" He snarled at his Master, the pain that throbbing angrily in his arms was enough that he didn't realize or cared that he was disrespecting his Master by speaking in such a manner unbecoming of a vavasor.
Cervez floated in the air, a frown pulling at his lips as his leg lowered from its extended position after throwing that kick. "Tsk. Sloppy." Giving Samael a harsh look, he judged his fellow canine ally with a cold tone. "How do you expect to serve me and stand by my side, when you cannot even react to an attack that could endanger my or your life like that!?"
"Well excuse me, Master, that I'm not attentive one hundred percent of the time!"
"NOT GOOD ENOUGH!" The Anubian roared, the powerful sound enough to draw a wince from the Demon Wolf. "The slightest hesitation can be the tipping point between dying or living. You're either good enough to stand beside me as an ally and someone that I can count to watch my back, or you drop dead here and now at my feet because you can't keep up!" Swiftly and without mercy, Cervez was quick to drive that point home by dashing at speed at his opponent, his right hand cocked back in preparation to deliver a painful haymaker at the insolent whelp before him. "Know your place!"
Ready this time, the Demon Wolf easily dodged most of the blows that came at him, while quickly retaliating with some of his own to keep his Master from exploiting any cracks in his stance should he find it. "That was still quite rude, you know!"
"You'll live, now stay focused!" One of his blows struck harshly against the Demon Wolf's face, the momentum enough to push Samael's head to the side as his punch applied pressure against his muzzle, but surprisingly the Demon Wolf didn't budge much and instead snarled in outrage. "Kisama... (You...)" Undaunted, the Demon Wolf broke through his Master's guard, getting inside the man's personal space and deliver a strong jab at Cervez's gut, drawing the breath from his lung with a pained wheeze, the jab was swiftly followed by a strong uppercut with enough power to forcefully lift Cervez into the air, and as a finisher Samael quickly twisted around, his leg carrying the momentum before it snapped towards Cervez's chest, painfully kicking him away into the distance.
Samael's chest rose and fell with his quickened breathing, his golden eyes seeing his Master right himself in the air with a bit of a struggle, floating in the air with a hand cradling against his side, probably already bruising a shade of purple that would be easily seen even with the Anubian's purple fur being almost the same color.
Instead of being pissed off, the Anubian looked like the dog that caught the mailman. "Good..." Cervez smirked as he slowly descended to the ground, his feet not making a sound as he stood on solid earth. "Very good~ You're not as useless as I thought you were then, that's a relief," Samael smirked at the compliment, though he was still pissed off at the cheap shot his Master did still. "Thank you, Lord Cervez. There's more where that came from if you want another demostration~"
"Cheeky mutt." There wasn't any heat to the statement, as Cervez found this side of Samael more entertaining than his zealous behavior about his person, it was nice from time to time but it became smothering the longer the Demon kept that persona. "You are a Demon of Makai, a place where the foulest of beings reside and battle constantly for power and prestige." Gravelly now, he'd said. "Show me that you're not just some bootleg ripoff of what might be one of the most vicious beings to dot this world."
Scrubbing the back of his hand against the side of his muzzle, as he did so feeling the sting of a small cut that Cervez earlier punch had given him, Samael couldn't help but give his Master a savage grin. "As you wish, Lord Cervez~" Meeting each other's eyes and not moving for a quiet beat, the two combatants once again dashed at each other and met in the middle with a loud sound of fists, jabs, kicks and anything that they could use to cause harm to the other hitting a solid body.
The spar had begun anew.
