The remnants of the Saiyan Galactic Kingdom had finally landed on a planet. Tomina didn't know the name of the planet and didn't both to learn it. She wasn’t going to be there for very long. Tomina had informed the others of her encounter with Cornatto and the tournament of power. Kinoko was angry that she wasn't chosen for it, but assured Tomina that she could run the Kingdom while she was gone. Tomina expected no less from the Queen of Saiyans.
Tomina was making her final preparations for the journey to Earth, despite her doubts she had about the tournament and the implications that came with it. She turned to look over at Tarro, who came to see her off. Tomina regretted that they had to part just after confessing their feelings for each other, but it couldn't be helped unfortunately.
“The tournament of power… heh, Cornatto sure knows how to get a Saiyaness excited. If it's really happening, then I get to fight strong opponents while they acknowledge me as one of the strongest fighters in the universe. I'm not looking forward to meeting the rest of my team though. Not to mention the reasons we’re having this tournament are dire.”
The Universe would be erased if they lost. Tomina didn't think there could a being with that kind of power. She wouldn't believe it until she confirmed everything else to be true too. Whether or not it was true, it addressed something Tomina wouldn't have thought about before now.
“Tarro, do you think the Saiyans would have acted differently if we knew.that the consequences of our destructive lifestyle would eventually lead to this point? I feel like my mother wouldn’t have relented, even if she had that knowledge. The universe truly is a fucked up place. It’s composed of some people who would risk destroying the universe to advance their agenda.”
The Universe was cruel and unrelenting. Tomina learned that shortly after she was released from the incubation chamber. The strong survived and the weak suffered and either perished, or were twisted into something merciless in order to survive. If there truly were beings that kept watch over things, how did the Universe become this way? Tomina turned around, taking out a couple of capsules and looking them over.
“You know, lately one memory has been pushing itself against my skull. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I've never told anyone about it before. I was there when Natto sent his ultimatum to the Empire, and witnessed the gears of war turning. I'm the only person alive who knows why we ended up going to war.”
And so they had all finally arrived on a new Planet. Planet Yeala it seemed. “Planet Yeala… not my first choice. But I guess it’ll do,” Tarro muttered as they discussed their new settlement. It had decent wildlife capable of sustaining their population for some time. The whole planet was kind of a wasteland for the most part- perhaps that was what they deserved though. The Saiyan Galactic Kingdom seemed fairly cozy with their grand structures to the point that they forgot about their position in the Universe. Perhaps living in such a wasteland would humble them a bit.
Unfortunately not long after their settling a lot of stuff happened. Though Tomina and Tarro had just begun their romance, they both had their duties to fulfill. Tarro agreed to scout out Namek and the situation with the Dragon Balls. Tomina however had something much more grand planned. The Tournament of Power. The very name shook Tarro to his core. It sounded amazing. Not only was he unqualified to participate in it, but he couldn’t even spectate the event. It was truly upsetting. “I’m sure I don’t need to remind you to be careful. Given who you’re working with… you never know what will happen out there,” the Saiyan warrior said with a frown. The idea of Jarvis working with Tomina was upsetting to say the least. “I wouldn’t worry too much. With you on their team I’m sure the God of Destruction has nothing to fear,” he said softly, before garnering up a smile. “With the rest of… them around it seems like it’ll be an easy tournament,” he said truthfully.
He couldn’t imagine even in another Universe that anyone would match Nasu, Komatsu, or Jarvis in power. Their power rivaled the Gods themselves. Tarro was confident that their Universe would be safe. What they lacked in manners, reason, and morals they made up for in battle strength. He couldn’t imagine a Universe that housed better conditions for warriors.
Tomina then seemed… distracted. As she asked him her question out of the blue, the Saiyan tilted his head in confusion. “Where’d that come from?” he asked immediately after hearing it. After taking a moment to ponder it however - he felt he had an answer. He thought about everything that he had seen from both Nasu, Komatsu; He also thought about everything that his mother had told him about Lettis and Natto in the past. “Us Saiyans are a stubborn, prideful bunch. Unless the likes of Lagerus intervened, as well as told them everything then they might have listened if it meant their own survival. Might have.
Otherwise as we know: the Saiyans are stubborn and would have laughed at the idea of Mortal Levels and this ‘Zeno’ character. They’d have dismissed it out of hand, especially your mother.”
That was his answer. “I myself struggle with the concept, and I consider myself more open-minded than most of our remaining brethren,” he said truthfully. He wasn’t sure if this was all legit. But Tomina seemed to entertain the possibility without whole-heartedly believing, and that served to be enough for the Saiyan Warrior. “I guess that’s just another thing we’ll have to find out for ourselves. After you help save the Universe,” he said with a chuckle.
He never thought that his mate would have been party to saving, much less on a Universal scale. It was comforting to think that there was some “good” to do for a change, rather than all the other stuff. Tomina said something else however that was interesting. She knew why the Empire went to war with the Alliance. “Oh?” he said with a raised eyebrow. “What would that be?” he asked, curious as to what that was. This would be a good story for before they parted, he was sure.
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
Tomina let out a small chuckle, shaking her head at Tarro's warning.
"I can handle myself, you know that much. Besides considering who's pulling the strings behind this tournament, I doubt anyone is going to do anything out of line."
Tomina glanced over at Tarro, raising her eyebrow when he commented that the other universe's warriors would be no match for them.
"I wouldn't write off the warriors of the other universe that easily. If we vastly outclassed them, they wouldn't have bothered to put this tournament together in the first place. Who knows what other abilities each of them has as well? Besides, it would boring if it was too easy. I know that everything is on the line, but I still want a good fight."
Tomina closed her eyes, sadly smiling as Tarro gave his thoughts on things. Yes, that was exactly what would have happened if things had played out.
“I can’t really disagree with you. I don't think we would have stopped even if we were told about the afterlife from the beginning. Hell, I’m still skeptical of all of this. We would have kept on fighting though. It’s who we are.”
Tomina opened her eyes, moving about the outside of her ship. She opened up a panel, peering in and inspecting it.
“Well, in reality the war destined to happen before I was even born. I was bred in preparation of that war. But my mother had a chance to prevent it from happening in the first place.”
Tomina started fiddling with some of the wires, turning them in her hand to make sure they were all connected properly.
“Natto contacted Lettis and tried to reason with her. He said he didn't care what the Empire did if they stopped attacking the alliance. He also proclaimed we had no chance of beating him and that he had discovered a power beyond Super Saiyan two. I don’t need to tell you which choice my mother made. At the time, I admired her decision not to back down from that fight. I still admire it. But ultimately the war happened because my mother couldn't let things go.”
Tomina closed the panel, walking over to the front of the shop. She held a hand over her eyes as she peered up at her ship.
“If all of this tournament stuff is true, then I think I might have a way of fixing things. If this all proves to be a hoax though, fuck it, we're doing what whatever we have to do, no matter what it is. Don’t go slacking in our training while I'm gone. Otherwise you’ll always be overshadowed by Carva.”
Tomina walked over to Tarro, leaning forward and giving him a brief peck on the lips. She smiled at her mate before turning and walking into her shio. The ramp closed, and the ship started shortly after that. It flew into the air, soaring up into the sky and soon leaving Tarro's field of vision. Thus began a journey that Tomina would never forget
From the corner of Tarro’s lip was a small grin as Tomina reminded him that she could take care of herself. “True. But if I don’t nag you, who's going to remind you of these things?” he commented towards her out of good fun. It was part of his nature to worry over her however. It was only customary for a mate. She had a point though. From the way this Zeno character was described to him - even Jarvis was likely to behave himself. The idea that Jarvis would be part of this team though.. Well it was easy to say that he wasn’t too fond of it. Who knows what he’d do during the tournament?
He was such a dangerous wild card that Tarro could hardly believe that Lord Lagerus would really allow him to fight alongside the others. But that had yet to be seen. The alternative however made it possible for him to be left unattended while the others fighting in the Tournament of Power… and that concerned him even more. Without the Universe’s strongest… there was no telling what kind of damage he could do while they were away, even with the rest of the Saiyans working together.
Alas he had no power to stop such an outcome. He would just have to be ready to fight should that doomsday scenario ever come to pass.
Tarro chuckled however as the conversation about the warriors ensued. Tomina seemed to think that it wouldn’t be as easy as he said, and truthfully he didn’t either. There was no guarantees, but he was confident in her abilities. She would find a way to win. “Again, true. They might have warriors that give you guys some trouble.
But I know you. You’ll find a way to make it work,” he said with crossed arms and a wider grin on his face. Everything was on the line now. And she was someone who wouldn’t rest no matter what. Tarro had complete faith in her abilities. She would surprise everyone at the tournament and show them all what she could REALLY do. Even that damned Elemi. Even though this tournament had the highest, most dire stakes that the Universe would ever know in this generation… Tarro believed it would work out for the best.
As the two continued their discussion however, Tarro and Tomina speculating as to the what if that was the Saiyan Empire knowing of the afterlife and all this stuff that they had only just recently come to learn. He could tell that the discussion was sad to her though. It was her people. Her childhood. What she had grown up with. She had had a rough upbringing, dealing with the warring factions at an age far too young. “Aye. Perhaps it was unavoidable…,” Tarro surmised. The tensions between the groups back then were impossible to diffuse, with both sides being far too proud. “At least without completely changing who Natto was, and Lettis too. They were so opposite that it was impossible for them to co-exist..,” he said. Even with the information Tomina gave him regarding the two factions back then, he knew that it did not matter. People did not change who they were at the core. Redemption and Change were concepts made for naivety and childlike innocence. It was why he knew in his heart that he would never stop hating the God King, no matter what happened.
He knew he would always be that kid who watched his squad die before his very eyes. He knew Tomina would always be the brutal warrior who did whatever she could for the Saiyans. Nasu would always be the Prideful King. Jarvis would always be the villain. These were the roles that they had chosen for themselves. Tarro would always be the man with a score to settle. He would always be the man seeking vengeance for all the wrongs dealt to those who he had loved and lost.
“Like Oil and Water. Day and Night. East and West. It is impossible for these things to co-exist in the same space. The war back then was inevitable. But what we do from here on out isn’t. We all can choose to fight for our universe, our right to survive…,” he spoke softly, staring up at the sky with resolve. That’s what this tournament was all about. Which Universe had the greater resolve to stay alive. Universe Four would soon realize that they weren’t going down without a fight, kicking and screaming until the very end. “Very well, love. Knock em dead…,” he said in an attempt to encourage her, his tone a stern yet positive and warm inflection. He openly laughed at her command to not slack off in his training while she was gone. “Yes ma’am…,” he said with a more mischievous tone, amused by her forcefulness on the subject. She was as forceful now as always. Both in the sheets and out... there was never any arguing with her. She was definitely right however. He wouldn’t let Carva get ahead of him forever. He would find a way to close the gap. He just had to keep trying.
Holding her in his arms while kissing her back, Tarro lightly pressed against her lips before backing away. A part of him didn’t want to let go. This separation was so soon, but they each had duties to fulfill. A future to protect. If either of them failed, they’d either not exist.. Or their race would be doomed to die. Either way their future would be under a dark cloud. They could not fail. They just couldn’t.
The Saiyan watched her leave and take off into the stars to prepare for the tournament. “Goodbye… my love,” he whispered with a smile before reaching for his remote and calling his own ship now to his location. It was time for him to take his own leave toward Namek. He had a long journey ahead of him. With any luck this mission would go without any hiccups. He was eager to get the Dragon Ball situation handled and done with. The faster he finished with that and picked up Carva… the sooner they could all gather up and prepare for the inevitable battle to come. The Demons were sure to do something now that they were vulnerable.
He was sure of it.
His hair blew back as the ship quickly hovered over him minutes later. The door opening automatically with the click of another button - Tarro flew inside the spacious grey vessel. It was big enough to hold three people somewhat comfortably. Truthfully Tarro adored the ship’s design, and couldn’t wait to stroll through the galaxies in it again. It had been awhile since he had flown.
“Journey… To Namek!” he thought to himself excitedly as he took off blazing!
