"Let's not lie, who seen this miles away?" Beat commented out loud, the bandits surrounding him. Yes, this is cliche, but at least there are something different about this clicheness. Oh, does he even mentioned that the boss of that bandit currently on his feet? Not to mention, the now swollen cheek from a rather hard strike? Let's not forget that Beat's own's hand is balled into fist, and he's still shocked at this turn of event. How? How can this somehow become like this? Well... to answer that, he guess he should start from a day ago or so... maybe more...
The youth currently boarding a ferry to go to the western part of the world, where Korin tower is located. With the current technology, it's of course possible to go faster than before. Just in one hour, he managed to arrive safely. However, from this point on, he was reminded that he's alone. A normal kid, alone, embarking in a small journey to gain more power. It was such a reckless and selfish journey, but not that he can help it at all. Sick for being weak, sick for being bottom feeder, the two emotions feed him to seek out for more growth. It was a mere rumor, but he heard the water on Korin's Watch could give the consumer more power. Even if that wasn't the case, then he'll maybe have the answer why for this far, Beat has not yet gained any substantial amount of power. He doesn't believe the answer to be merely "Age". He believed that it might be something else... and that's why he'll go there.
"Let's see, travel fee OK, money for inn also OK..."
Beat was unaware that he's being watched. Not being able to sense Ki was a mistake on Chard's part to not unleash enough of his son's power to use it. Hidden away from sight of the passengers are several bandits that planned to get easy money. Yeah, easy, but their plan was probably too flawed to begin with, considering that the boy is not rich. He's dirt poor even. The moment that the boy separate himself from the rest and walked to the forest, he felt a sharp pain on his head and fell to the ground. His vision blurred. He was too preoccupied on his own map that he forgotten to be careful about some bandits that might be lurking. His unawareness was used by the bandits to kidnap him.
The moment he regained consciousness he's in a cave. Seriously, it can't get any more cliched than this. The first thing he saw other than where he is? Well... it's the bandits, counting his money. Already? Seriously, he wanted to laugh if only this happened in a movie, but nope, this happened to him. If he got someone to blame, that's only he himself who focused too much on his map and ended up getting hit on the back of his head.
"How many is there?" one of the bandit asked.
"Just 250 Zeni. What the hell, we captured easy prey, but I never thought that he'll be such a miser like this!"
Well sorry for being a miser.
"What's these, he's bringing too many boxed lunch! Is he going on a picnic or is he travelling? The hell with this kid!"
I'll get hungry far quicker if I don't bring boxed lunch. You think it's fun to have such absurd metabolism but never grew any muscular? Oi.
Well it's not wrong. Beat eats about One person's daily meal per meal, so that's like three person worth of daily meal for a day. That's way too absurd if he doesn't get any fatter or any stronger. That's just like... food mysteriously disappears. That doesn't sit well with him, not at how weak he is. However, anticipating that he cannot eat in restaurant or various settlement made him prepare this ridiculous number of boxed lunch. It's almost like he's going for Ohanami, but hell no. He just need that much food or he'll die and shrivel.
"Well, SCREW THIS, I'm eating this! Here I thought we'll get something out of this but if this kid only have like 250 zeni then he's not even worth a jack as a hostage!"
"OI BASTARD, LEAVE MY MEAL ALONE!" unable to hold himself back, he finally barked. Being easily hungry and honestly, having to work for his own food made the boy does not tolerate these But that's when something odd happened. The ropes that bind him somehow snapped... luckily, not fully snapped. Still, he could feel it loosening. The shock of his newfound power made him confused as of why, but this is a chance. He'll play like he's still tied.
"What's this, the hostage barked!" the first bandit, the one that took his money approached his cell. "C'mon kid, tell us why we should leave your food alone, considering that you're a miser. We could just help ourselves to your meal, and done with it. That's the only good thing that you brought with you. 250 zeni... what can we buy with this? This is just enough for you to go home and probably several nights at cheap inn! You won't even worth ten thousand zeni with how poor you are!" The bandit spit on the floor.
Of course he's well aware of that, and it honestly pisses him off when money he earned with his sweats and tears dissed like that. But getting angry won't do. He need them to somehow go away first. He's not sure that he can fight with two adults. He's lost to kids of his age. Adults are beyond him.
"...You know Musica Tribe?"
"Ah? That tribe near East City? What with them?"
"Tribe Elder Simo is my grandfather. He'll pay you a million... no, two million zeni. It should be enough right?"
Vulgar smile bloomed on the bandit's face. "Oh? Now that's a fine offer. Two million zeni would please the boss."
"But the catch is, you can't eat my food. You know, I have a really strange metabolism. I need as many food as I can, so I'm just helping you guys by bringing my own meal. If my grandfather saw me emaciated, you think he'll be pleased? He'll probably get all of the tribe's hunter to hunt for you. Surely you don't want that, right?"
"Oh, alright... dammit. Oi Robb, you wait here, I'm going to talk to the boss about the kid. Don't take his food!"
And with that the first bandit is gone from the sight. It's time to do his little work.
