The Earthling Saiyan had already long since realized the state of their Universe, it was obviously in peril and no one could have possibly saved it if not the Team Universe Seven team. That was why he couldn’t afford to make mistakes with the team and had a long way to go before he could even be assured and just let the team progress in the next step he had in his mind. He had basically drawn a little line in his mind; what came first was obviously the recruitment, then the gathering and at last, the training in the Room of Spirit and Time. Cornatto also saw the latter as the best chance for the team to actually bond and prevent conflicts during the tournament.
Corn wasn’t really up for any surprises, even because the team would have needed to do its best because he didn’t know what to expect— at best, though, they would have had to pull the others’ weight which he hoped they wouldn’t have had to. It was going to be only forty-five minutes but they couldn’t risk spending too much stamina.
Honestly? Other than that, if they could at least befriend each other, he was sure that everything would have been fine. It wasn’t like most of their Universe wasn’t amazing, anyway. Or well, it wasn’t like Cornatto knew any other universe either but throughout his living years, he had the chance to meet amazing guys that were worth more than any other God. At least if one weren’t to count Lagerus, of course.
At this point, though, Cornatto was admittedly clueless as to where he could go and fetch the last remaining spots on the list for his team’s member. He had pretty much scouted most planets but yet couldn’t arrange himself to find a suitable candidate, it was like there wasn’t anyone else in the living world decent enough to participate in the tournament. So, that was how he ended up redirecting himself to Whis.
“So, Whis-san, think you know anyone who would be good enough?”
The angelic being’s smile was soon replaced by a curious gaze as he lifted a finger up to his lips and wondered on the Saiyan’s question.
“Mmm. It is quite a question, Cornatto-san, we may indeed serve ourselves with a different kind of warriors.”
The Earthling Saiyan blinked as his dark orbs wandered over Whis and his arms folded over his chest. “What do you mean by different? Are they androids or gods?” - he asked with a curious tone of voice, evidently willing to learn the identity of the mysterious warriors.
Whis simply patted the ground with his staff as the handheld item’s dark green orb increased in size and glowed with a mystical bright, green light before it began to show off random images that Cornatto couldn’t quite put together given the fact that he didn’t know what was going on in those images, but they seemed to show a red-haired woman.
“How do you feel about the Demon Queen? My only fear is that it may cause problems with the other team members— but when it comes to her persona, she is quite resourceful and perhaps even stronger than you at the moment, Cornatto-san.”
The Earthling Saiyan widened his eyes in awe, he was quite interested now that he had heard that this Demon Queen would even be stronger than him! Definitely, a person he’d have wished to meet in the future, but there was a huge problem with all of that— They’d have already had Jarvis around if they put someone who was just as hated as that guy, well, there could be more than one problem.
Cornatto giggled softly and rubbed the back of his neck. “The kids may end up killing each other in that case— Hahaha… But hey, hook me up with this Queen someday! I’d like to fight her!”
Whis burst out in a soft, short laugh. “Hohoho! You may want to be careful in that case, she is not too fond of Saiyans. Then, in that case…”
The angel clicked the ground once more with his staff before the images switched, only to show off another demon, but this time it was a he but showed off traits similar to Nakiya, such as the hair color. Cornatto blinked his eyes curiously as he watched some random iconic moments of his life and in a few, he could swear he had spotted the Lookout behind him, that meant he had been on Earth before! Damn, Cornatto had missed out on a lot of stuff during his absence!
“That is Bernael-san. One of the most powerful Demons after Nakiya-san, if you ask me. He may indeed be the candidate you are looking for. True, his power may not reach the Demon Queen’s, but he is quite powerful, mind you.”
Cornatto smirked and nodded his head. “Yeah, I think we may do just fine with him! Where is he?”
“In the Afterlife.”
The man’s jaw dropped as he stared at Whis and hummed softly before he exclaimed out in amusement. “Eeeh?! How come I didn’t notice him earlier?”
“Hoho! Well, you sure were focused on your training.”
The Turtle Hermit sighed and simply responded with a nod before he let his head rest on his hand as he frowned and stared at the ground. There was one problem, though— the man had literally just been revived, how was he going to go back to the Afterlife? Whis easily saw through Cornatto as he snickered to himself.
“Do not worry, Cornatto-san, I can take you there for a short time.”
Cornatto’s expression brightened up as he clenched both his fists together in front of his bust in excitement and cheered up. “Woohoo! Thank you, Whis-san! Let’s go then!”
It didn’t take long for the two to arrive in the Afterlife, of course, though, it was nowhere as fast as the Kai Kai technique. Angels used some weird way of travelling, but then again, Cornatto simply sat behind Whis’ back, holding a strong grasp on his shoulder as he waited for them to arrive.
And it was some minutes later that the two found themselves in Hell— In one of the many wastelands, where the two parted ways and Cornatto flew straight towards Bernael’s energy signature.
“Yo!— You, over there, what’cha up to?!” - exclaimed the man as he stopped in mid-air and addressed Bernael.

For the Demon Boy, this day was like any other that he had spent down in hell. Training his body and mind as best as he could in the harsh environment of the land that was to be his home for a while. However, it wasn't as bad as it used to be, the time spent there had made him grow used to this plane of the Afterlife, and while it didn't beat the awe and joy he felt on the Planet of the Kai's, he was still calmed after his visit there with the Grand Supreme Kai. Diana had filled his heart with hope, as well, he was surely going to take every opportunity that he could to train his body to the very limit, to be a suitable protector of the universe.
His training of his body mostly consisted of outputting as much power as possible in his base form, constantly draining himself down to the bare minimum that his energy would allow. This left him vulnerable, sure, but it also helped him train his more basic melee combat, as when it all came down to energy output, his regular strikes allowed him to go on the offensive even when he was all but drained of energy. His mental training, in contrast, was nothing more than a reassurance to himself against his darker half. The half of him that always pushed towards his more demonic tendencies, it has been there since the very beginning in fact. Bernael wasn't sure if he should call it another personality, or just a more evil part of his subconscious, but it'd sometimes talk to him. It always tried to lead him on a darker path, and he was always unsure if it was trying to help him or destroy him. But, in the end, the boy strove to push himself towards his original dreams.
It was a constant battle with that other side of him nonetheless, that part of him was a beast just waiting to be unveiled if he let his guard down. He was worried about his transformations, however, the last time he had seen his aunt she had shot up to a new form passed what he currently knew as his strongest form. The Demon Boy had to reach that form in due time but he was just worried about if it was going to become like his first form, a form of corruption and agony that let his other side creep further through his veins and mind. Would he even be able to control the bloodlust then? If he couldn't, he'd forsake the form and never use it. It was surely the least he could do.
The Demon Boy would soon stop as he felt a power signature getting closer. It wasn't one he was familiar with but it was strong, to say the least, he'd wait a moment to regain his energy before floating towards the power in hopes to meet it in the middle of their flight paths. Surely enough, this man spoke out to him once they were in earshot, Bernael would halt his flying as well to stare at the man. He'd ponder for a moment, looking around the hellish landscape before staring back at the man. He didn't seem like the kind of person to end up down here, considering he didn't fire at the demon boy on sight. "I was just training, I have to get in any training time I can while down here or I'll get rusty." Bernael would just smile as he stared at this man, the talking was mostly brief for now, as he didn't know who exactly he was dealing with.
"What about you? You didn't attack me right away, so you aren't here to try and kill me I assume?" he'd question into the man's motives, he had already gotten over the whole defensive part of his mindset, but he couldn't help but check again. After all, after seeing someone like Miso down in hell the boy couldn't help but be on guard when meeting new people. [Power Level: 328,214]
The Earthling Saiyan’s flight path met with Bernael’s as the two figures stopped in mid-air and stared at each other for a brief moment until Cornatto initiated the conversation between the two. The man dressed in blue and yellow definitely showed traits that weren’t particularly bound to someone with an evil aura— not to mention the fact that he didn’t even a halo, it was mostly just a little off trip from the living world to recruit the Demon boy in the team.
He had to say, that although they weren’t fighting, Bernael had a strong aura! It was pretty impressive. Cornatto was quite a few steps ahead of him, but he was sure that Bern could have been a nice addition to the team. There were lots of powerhouses in their team already, but Corn knew that a team of ten could possibly gather up and break them. If teamwork were to be allowed, of course. The King of All was apparently an unpredictable guy so, it was just a chance like any other.
It was still something to consider, though. Cornatto himself had only recently mustered up some nice boost, even thanks to King Kai’s training but that was barely possible for him to sustain that long. So, he had to be careful when using it. Willpower and soul could only bring him that far because the Kaioken could truly be deadly and no ‘desire’ to keep going would have stopped it from killing Cornatto. Despite that, though, it was one trump card that could turn out to be useful. More than what he could imagine and from Lord Whis’ words, if the guy was worth a spot on the team, then he was sure he had something of his own as well.
The martial artist smirked and nodded his head. “Training, huh? That’s cool! You are quite powerful, ain'tcha? No way you’d get such strength with normal training,” - said the man before his expression softened with a curious gaze and a tilt of his head before he burst out in a faint laughter.
“Hahaha! No, no! I actually need you alive!— It’s a long story, so yeah, I hope you’ll listen. But I guess first things first, I should introduce myself!”
The Turtle Hermit stated as he let his hands rest on his hips and looked at Bernael with a rather self-confident and friendly gaze. “I am Cornatto! I am a Saiyan born on Earth and currently the Turtle Hermit. But I have not come here to tell you about me,” - paused the man before he moved his hands up to bust as he folded them over his torso. “I know we’ve probably never met and all, but, uh, a friend told me about you. In a few words, the Universe is in danger and we need about ten warriors who can fight for it.”
The Tournament of Power had been established a handful of time ago, soon for it to take place— it wasn’t going to actually take longer than forty-five minutes, but it ought to be some sort of dynamic and very intense fight if twenty warriors would have fought for almost only an hour straight. He was sure that a fight could take about the same time, but with twenty warriors? He was truly surprised that it was only going to take that chunk of time for the tournament to end unless it was indeed going to be that easy to lose by dropping out of bounds. Either that or the time limit would have done the job by itself, by eliminating the Universe with fewer fighters left.
“I am not sure if you know anything about the Kais. They are Gods of Creation! Then, there are the Gods of Destruction. Ours is Lagerus-sama and I have fought her, so yeah— I can tell you that I strongly believe anything she told me about this tournament is true. She was kinda scared back then! And she is so powerful that she finished me in a minute.”
The man couldn’t help but bring that up as it was one of the only arguments he could muster up to actually prevent the guy from thinking that he was lying or something. Either way, it wasn’t like Cornatto was overdoing it anyway. Lord Lagerus truly handed him a new one to sit on, it was quite amusing and only excited Cornatto as he told Bernael about it.
“So, basically, our Universe is very messed up— but so is another. So basically, some guy who is the King of All, wants to erase us! In one way or the other, though, they made a deal; there’ll be a tournament called the Tournament of Power. Ten members of each universe will fight and the winning universe will survive, the other will be erased.”
The man explained in the shortest way he could come up with. It wasn’t exactly all that easy given the fact that there’d likely be questions, but he guessed that he could try his best to just get the guy so they could finally get on with the training in the Room of Spirit and Time.
“So, in a few words, there are also a few rules. No flight, no items, but killing is apparently allowed. Either way, we’ll need you to be alive, so yeah… You’ll have to find some way to revive! Last time I have heard there are quite a lot of ways to actually get out of here so I am sure you’ll find something. At best, we can just get you in while this, too. Just gotta ask a friend of mine and you should be fine! So, what do you say? Are you joining us?”
The Turtle Hermit suddenly widened his eyes as he recalled one more detail that could have also helped with the whole thing. There was also a little bit of a reward for the best fighter, other than surviving. “The best fighter also gets the Super Dragon Balls. I am not sure if you know what the Dragon Balls are, but they are orbs that can grant any wish you have.”

Bernael would look at the features of the man while he awaited the response, his eyebrows raising a bit as he noticed some more... prominent features, or the lack-there-of. He had no halo, he wasn't a Kai, was he? The only person he had met so far while living down in Hell without a Halo of some sort was the Grand Supreme Kai, but this guy looked nothing like her. Perhaps he was a lesser kai who dressed more casually? He had no way to really know, but if this was a living person, what are they doing down in hell? These were all questions that the Demon Boy had to ask himself as he stared over at the man. But despite all of that, his ears would perk up a bit as he heard both of the things the man said.
"Well, I had a really good master to carry me through the beginning of my training... but I have gotten pretty rusty." Bernael would think over how the last year or so of his life had been spent... it was all pretty uneventful but to say the least, he was reinvigorated very recently. He would give a pause before responding to what the man had said afterward, giving out a relieved sigh. "Well, that's a relief. You know how many people you meet down in hell that just want to pick a fight? It is nice to meet someone different for a change. Needing me alive is another story though, but I will gladly listen!" the man that stood before him didn't seem very manipulative to say the least, he actually seemed pretty cheerful and that made the Half-Demon smile a bit to himself. But he wouldn't let himself be used again, not without a reason. He had to definitely listen to what the man said next.
The half-breed would just keep his gaze locked on the man he now knew as Cornatto as the Saiyan would introduce himself. Bernael's eyes would raise a little bit more as he got even more curious about all of this. A regular Saiyan down here in hell without a Halo? "You know, quite a number of Saiyan's I have met tried to attack Earth and kill people I loved. If I was a more condemning man I'd have half a mind to ignore you, but, one of the people I loved was a Saiyan raised on Earth as well. I can hardly judge you or your race for the actions of a few." his eyes would narrow a little bit as he thought to one of the last battles he had ever been in... those were such horrible times but he had to push past them. "I was actually born and raised on Earth as well. The offspring of a Demon and a Human. My name is Bernael Adonael." he would introduce himself back before listening to what the Saiyan had to say next, which would make Bernael's expression fall even more to a look of sadness.
"The Grand Supreme Kai told me a bit about that... she told me the Universe was threatened by destruction from the inside... I knew I'd have to do something about it, but I thought it would come from her, and not this soon." the Demon would look towards the floor as he just responded, before looking towards Cornatto once more, and smiling softly. "Who was this friend of yours that told you about me? Do I know them?" he couldn't help but pry a little bit into what the Saiyan actually meant, he wanted to know who exactly told this man about him. Though, he didn't really care whether or not the Saiyan actually responded or answered him, most of all he just wanted the man to know he was curious.
There was a bit of a pause between the both of them before the Saiyan would speak up again, but his next words made Bernael's interest peak immensely. "Yeah I know a little bit about the Kai's, only about the Grand Supreme Kai though, she gave me a bit of Guidance to better myself. She trained me in a way, and I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me.” the demon boy would think over what Diana had done for him, and everything that she said. He knew he had to thank himself as well, but a part of him couldn’t let go of everything that the Supreme Kai did for him to get him to that point.
“This God of Destruction though, I have never once heard of this. But, if any God said something to you I'd believe it on a spot. I am sorry to hear that fight went so poorly, I guess to be a Destruction God you have to be quite capable!" the Demon would give whatever he could think of back to the Saiyan, not leaving him in silence about any of his subjects really as he just gave his full attention to the man. The god of destruction interested him greatly, but he knew that they wouldn’t be too important to any of this, for the time being, the more important part was the here and now. “There are a lot of strong people in this Universe so gathering ten fighters shouldn't be too hard. If anything I'll probably be on the lower end of the power tree, are you really sure you want me to be apart of it?" he'd question a bit, he really wanted to be apart of this whether the man wanted him or not. It was just a matter of if he was worthy enough for such a thing. The Demon felt himself a mighty fine pick for such a thing though, he just needed to kick himself into gear and try a bit harder. He'd become a powerful warrior in no time.
The Demon would go quiet again as the Saiyan listed out the rules and a little more about what this Tournament was about, and he couldn't help but answer now definitively. "No flying or items I can work with assuming the other team also has to work with these rules. Flight is only really useful to counter flight in my books. And items are a little unfair in a tournament.” he would take note of the rules a bit. The demon’s eyes would narrow as he continued on to the next part, it was certainly going to be a much more touchy subject.
“I am all good with reviving. My place is here, however. The Grand Supreme Kai wanted me to look into the strange occurrences of unnatural revival though so just this once I am all good with reviving unnaturally like this.” he would crack a smile at the Saiyan as he accepted as best as he could when it came to the term that was set. “I know it is a bit much to ask but do you think this friend of yours can be asked to arrange for me to return here after the Tournament is over? I do not wish for a permanent revival. Not now, anyway.” his words were a bit darker afterward. The demon knew that if this part didn’t go through properly he’d have to stay alive for a lot longer than he wanted to. He wouldn’t risk taking his own life or forcing anyone to take his life willingly. If the revival could just be temporary it would go over a lot easier but he was fine no matter how it turned out.
“Regardless of any of this, however, I will gladly join. Any chance to help our Universe I will jump to take the chance. As long as you see me fit to join.” he would quiet himself down as he gave his definitive answer. He was going to join this so-called Tournament of Power, but what the Saiyan said next shocked him a bit. The Half-breed wasn’t sure if he was prepared for such a thing again. “I know perfectly well what the Dragon Balls are… I helped gather the ones on Earth before. I don’t trust them anymore. I will do my best to earn them, but just so that nobody else I don’t trust with them can earn them.” he would cross his arms as he spoke, doing his best to keep a serious composure as he spoke about all of it. He wasn’t ready for another use of Dragon Balls to go wrong, let alone a ‘Super’ variant of it.
“Now that I have accepted your offer, can I ask if you are up for a bit of a spar? I want to test my power against yours, Cornatto..” the Demon would smirk as he would clench his fists and then roll his shoulders. He was getting a little excited in hopes that the Saiyan would say yes. He hardly ever got to spar anymore, it was always fighting or training. The idea of being able to spar with someone again without anyone trying to kill each other was just priceless to him at that point. He just had to hope that the Saiyan would take the offer easily enough.
“Since you’re a Saiyan, I won’t play dumb. My master unlocked Super Saiyan for the first time while standing by my side. Your power dwarfs the powers she and I had back then, so I assume you can do that much. Of course, I have this up my sleeve myself to even the odds.” Bernael would talk a bit more to the Saiyan in hopes that he could coax him into accepting the spar, and hopefully further into transforming. To seal what he was wishing for, Bernael would clench his fists and power up to his Demon King Form, his power multiplying twentyfold as his hair would shoot up and turn into a more teal color. His eyes would stay the exact same, regardless of what had happened to him but his aura would leak out into a haze of teal sort of similar to his hair. He would look dead on at the Saiyan, not smiling as he wanted to speak more seriously to the man. “I know this may be a bit disappointing for someone like you, but this is my max power. Least, for now. I saw my Aunt use something further beyond this but I haven’t tapped into it myself yet. Until then, you’ll have to fight me like this.” the Demon boy would then place himself in a fighting stance, his eyes directed at Cornatto as he would prepare himself for a fight. He still had no idea if the Saiyan would take his offer or not but he had to be prepared for the fight to come if it was to happen. He would think over what he was to do a bit more and then smile to himself. "If you have anything to power up into after, however, feel free to use it all you like. I have an Ace up my sleeve." the demon boy would smirk to himself as he remained in position, he knew he could probably tussle with something stronger than him by a decent margin. He didn't want to force the Saiyan to use anything stronger however, he just knew that he could probably figure something out to at least impress the Saiyan. [Demon King (x21): 6,892,494]
The male couldn’t help but giggle softly a little when he heard that the red-haired male had apparently gone rusty. Pretty much because it happened to Cornatto before; a lot of time ago, when he decided to prioritize his daughter’s well-care over anything else because of the war’s aftermath, he had to face a similar situation. He had lost a good amount of his power back then, but he had quickly gained it back and surpassed it as if it were nothing; he couldn’t still at times explain how he did it. Corn could only guess it was a matter of willpower rather than the potential at times, but either way, he was confident in his abilities and that he actually had potential. He only had to understand how to use it.
“Yeah. I don’t think Hell is really a nice place at all. I went to Heaven, so I am not really that much sure! I am not even dead anymore, though, so I am that sure either— Hehe!”
Cornatto’s expression softened in curiosity as Bern mentioned something about Saiyans trying to attack Earth and also go after his loved ones, that one made the Turtle Hermit sigh in disappointment.
“I have heard some of it. I was off all the stuff for a while, so I don’t know all the details. I was raised on Earth, that’s true, but I also used to be the Major of the Alliance like...—twenty years ago! Something like that. I assure you, though, we used to be better people than what the Saiyans did lately. I tell ya’ as I was good buddies with Natto back in the days,” - said the man, perhaps in some sort of apology or really in any other way he could get at least not to picture an overall negative idea of the Saiyan race.
There were also the good elements, just like Bernael pointed out. “Really? A Saiyan raised on Earth? Man, that sounds nice! Haha, I bet she was pretty much as peaceful as I am. Even though, I admit I may love fighting a little bit too much. I just can’t help it though,” - remarked the Saiyan with a playful grin while his hand lifted up to his neck, rubbing his skin softly as he looked at the Demon until the latter revealed his identity and caused Corn to break down in amusement.
“Oooh?! Half-Demon and Half-Human? That’s pretty cool!”
Cornatto tilted his head slightly. “There’s a Grand Supreme Kai? Huh. I’d like to meet them someday. But priorities first for the moment! I have been training like crazy lately, haha. But this friend of mine, uhh, well! He’s actually a guy that works with the God of Destruction. I didn’t know many other candidates, so he suggested me either the Demon Queen or you. Now, no offense to the Queen. But hey, I don’t need my team trying to kill each other!” - exclaimed the male, followed by a short laugh as the warrior folded his arms over his chest.
Then, Corn silently listened to the male, nodding his head a few times. “I am sure you’d make a good component to the team. I trust my guts, hehe! And well, uh, if you want to stay here, that’s fine! We can take you out of here for the time we need you for the tournament and then bring you back here. I am surprised you want to stay in Hell, though, it’s pretty nice of you wanting to respect the Grand Supreme Kai’s request. But well, I am happy to have ya’ on the team!”
The Earthling Saiyan’s expression brightened up as the other mentioned a spar, evidently tickling those Saiyan instincts of his as a smirk formed on his features. He couldn’t help but immediately nod in excitement, he would have liked to have a shot at the hybrid’s power! Their powers were not too distant from each other, although Corn did have the upper hand, he wondered what sorts of skills a Demon could hide since Whis advised him not to bother with Nakiya.
If both were Demons, he could only guess that both could do similar stuff, right?
“Hell yeah! I am all for a spar. I hoped you’d ask me that, honestly!”
He had never sparred a Demon before, aside from that one time when he helped his friend Gnash with a little troublesome being, but other than that, it looked like it ought to be a good encounter between Cornatto and Bernael; he wondered just how far the Demon’s power could, though, he was pretty sure that he hid his true power.
The same was assumed by Bern who immediately pointed out that he was indeed aware of the Saiyan race’s ability to transform into a powered up form. “Huh, really? Who was your master? Maybe I knew them!” - asked the male with a hint of curiousness until he let the argument slide and clashed his fists together.
“But yeah! I can transform into a Super Saiyan, too. Even further beyond than that. But, we’ll start things easy,” - said the man until he stopped to silently watch the other’s transformation as both his ki and hair turned into a majestic color that he couldn’t help but associate to Nasu’s Super Saiyan Blue. Needless to say that Corn was getting excited! Just thinking about his fight with the King of the Saiyans made his blood boil fiercely within his veins as his smirk grew wider.
“Not bad at all! I may just have to go all out eventually, but I am really curious to see just how strong you are!” - exclaimed the male as he tightened his fists and silently growled under his breath until he unleashed a short roar that followed an outburst of his ki, now tainted in gold together with his hair. His teal-colored orbs watched over the fellow fighter, right now, the male had just turned into a regular Super Saiyan.
[Super Saiyan Full Power [x16] | Power Level: 6.010.016]
“An ace up your sleeve? Now I am curious. Well, let’s see then if my guts are right into making you a member of the team. Hehe!”
The male then shifted into his fighting stance, with both his legs spread apart and one fist placed up, close to his face and with the hand just half-clenched. He located his other fist against his hip, bent at a ninety-degree angle and completely tightened, with his fingers pressing against the skin of his palm.
The Turtle Hermit waited a few moments as his stare looked out for any possible first action made by his opponent, but without any result, therefore the man decided to go for him first as he dashed forward and aimed to strike Bernael head-on with his fist, only to connect with a flurry; a simple clash of power, for the moment, in order to measure the other’s capabilities.

The Demonic hybrid would snicker a bit as the saiyan would oblige him with this spar. The Super Saiyan form... it was really a beautiful one, and just as strong as he remembered it as well! "I am happy to know that you can ascend passed a Super Saiyan, I'd expect nothing less from the leader of this little team you are putting together." he would remark over the Saiyan's words, curious just how powerful this individual could go in the end. He was sure that he would be able to see it eventually at the tournament, he just had to get there first! The fight between the Saiyan and the Demon was about to commence, and Bernael couldn't be happier that he accepted his request.
There was a quiet, soft tension in the air between the two as they sized one another up, the Demon's blade disappearing as he noticed that his opponent was using a hand-to-hand combat method of martial arts. It wasn't disappointing, but the Demon would be happier if he could someday use his sword against an opponent once more, perhaps in the Tournament. The time for preparation was over, as the Saiyan male would launch himself at Bernael, his flurry of punches making the demon have to act quickly if he was to stay in the fight without worry. The fight was on!
Keeping pace with his opponent, the Demon would begin to try and connect his fist with each one of the Saiyan's strikes. Both were well trained and each blow had to be precise or they would risk taking unnecessary injury early in the fight. Bernael's punches weren't aiming to break through and damage the Saiyan for now, more being used to block his advances as the fight would finally begin, the Demon cracking a smile as he would do his best to keep pace with this veteran warrior. He was rusty... but there was a level of instinct and finesse that came with being trained in martial arts that were hard to forget.
Among the flurry of blows that the two of them were placing on one another, Bernael had to crack a bit of conversation, he couldn't stay silent about some of the topic's brought up to him. "That Demon Queen you speak of... unless the title has been passed around often, she is the Aunt I spoke of and I can't blame you." he would say it a bit bluntly, not trying to make light of the situation per say but rather coming to terms with it a bit. "I am sure she has caused problems for many people... and I don't blame anyone for not wanting her around people that she may not clash well with. Though, I will say that she is stronger than me. In theory, anyway." his voice would trail off a bit at the end, feeling a bit ashamed that his aunt who once was far below him in strength had surpassed him even with transformations. He was a shadow of her power, but he just needed a way to close that gap.
The demon had no desire to slack on combat, however, as he would continue to block Cornatto's strikes, grinning once more as he was finally able to feel the power of a Super Saiyan once more. It has been so long since he was able to fight seriously... oh how he would love to be able to do so again. "I can tell you a bit about my master once we are done fighting though, all you need to know is her name was Atsuko. I don't expect anyone to really know her though, she's a figure of the past I believe... but we have to push towards a better future." he would push against the Saiyan a bit at the end of the flurry to set both of them away from each other once more. It was time for the fight to get into its major stages now, and the Demon was ready to fight Cornatto with the full power of his Demon King Mode. "So come at me!" Block (30% [20% Finesse + 10% Stamina]): 2,067,748 vs 1,202,003 = No Damage taken
It was finally time that the fight would begin now that both the fighters had transformed into their powered-up forms. True, Cornatto could have directly ascended to Super Saiyan Two but first, he wished to see a little bit of what the other was capable in his demon form. It was quite intriguing for him to fight someone ‘different’— most of the time he had fought people from a typical species, it was quite boring! But half-human and half-demon… now that was quite a fresh one! He had admittedly never fought someone who possessed Demon traits and such might, although he had once fought a similar being, he was nothing compared to Bernael.
It was still something that happened when he was very young, so it wasn’t the easiest of fights back in the days but that guy didn’t even pose that much of a challenge. On the other hand, even if Cornatto could definitely surpass Bernael in battle power, the other did mention having something up his sleeve.
On this note, he could only wonder how far he could go with his Super Saiyan form. Everything would have come to experience and fighting expertise, they were pretty much what would have come to establish the result of their training spar. Even while Cornatto stared at Bern, as both had assumed their fighting stance, the male couldn’t help but feel excited at the mere idea of sparring the hybrid. It was definitely also gonna be a good training spar for both of them since they were going to participate in the tournament and Cornatto could have used someone to train with, at least to test his own power before he’d have to go back to the world of the living.
It wasn’t long until Cornatto launched himself forth, aiming to strike the other with his power as his form and strength began to clash against the other with nothing more than his finesse as a martial artist. However, he was certainly the only fighter between the two; as it looked like both powerhouses clearly could withstand each other. Each one of his punches connected with the other’s hands but although they did, they only left behind gusts of wind and forces that created impulses and small explosions of air.
As the two exchanged blows, though, the other also initiated a small conversation between each strike. Cornatto did not falter but the fact that the guy was related to the Queen was quite surprised, too, but he could not quite see the connection if what he had heard from Whis was true. After all, if the Queen was supposed to be evil, her nephew didn’t quite seem to be anything like his aunt! Then again, the apple could have also fallen far from the tree.
“You’re his nephew?! I didn’t know that! I have never actually met her, but I wouldn’t mind an one on one time with her— I heard that she may be even stronger than me. So I really want a shot at her sometime!”
The male’s shoulders quickly went back and forth as he threw his best at the red-haired male and yet the two were pretty much locked into a stalemate. He had to say that Corn was quite amused he had not met this guy before! It wasn’t like he would have missed a chance to meet someone at least this strong so easily, so he was sure glad that he had asked Whis to suggest him some names. Among them, there was indeed also the Demon Queen but given her infamous name, it could have made more harm than anything else if he were to actually invite her.
“I am not gonna look for a fight or anything like that, bud. But if she ever tries anything again, she better expect me to be there to stop her. And also snatch that chance at fighting her!”
As a martial artist, not only could the Turtle Hermit just how naturally both could confront each other but also guess that he would have had to take a step further given the current situation. Although he had to say that it was indeed quite intriguing the idea to simply just keep this up, it would have made for a quite monotonous fight! “Huh? Of the past? Hey, more past than me, not sure if that’s possible! Haha! Atsuko, though, that’s an Earthling name, isn’t it? Makes sense!” - exclaimed the male as both powers clashed until his opponent drove his attacks to push the other away a bit.
The male smirked as the other invited the Saiyan to come at him, therefore he gladly accepted as the older man braced himself. He tensed up his shoulders as his skin pressed against his bones and his muscles clearly showing off the man’s build. The Saiyan roared and unleashed a power beyond the normal Super Saiyan as his posture rose and the man growled in the skies of Hell.
[Super Saiyan Two Full Power [x32] | Power Level: 12.020.032]
He had ascended to the level of Super Saiyan Two as the man let a smirk cross over his features and stared at the other’s power. The Earthling Saiyan bestowed ki far higher than Bern’s at the moment, it was indeed quite perhaps an unfair battle but he was actually curious to see what Bern hid in his arsenal, just like he mentioned earlier. It was apparently supposed to be enough to possibly stand up to the Saiyan, in case he could power up even beyond, it had to be good!
“Here it comes, Bernael!”
Cornatto once more charged at the Demon but this one time, he attempted to once more slide in for another blow but this time, instead of simply trying to test his power, he decided he'd go ahead and actually try his hand at an actual blow as he dashed forward and aimed to deal damage with a flurry of punches and kicks, but this time it was far more lethal than what he had offered earlier.

The Demon would just watch as the Saiyan would power up even further to something beyond the regular Super Saiyan Form, it was something very similar to what he felt both his mentor and Nasu use when they had their duel on Earth. The flood of power coming out of the Saiyan was quite impressive and it would cause the Demon to shield his eyes a little bit from how bright the new form was as it was fully unleashed. The Demon couldn't get anywhere near that sort of power for the time being but that was to be expected, there was no way he could catch up in that moment but he could possibly impress the Saiyan with his strongest attack at that moment. With any amount of luck, the Demon would hopefully seal his ticket into this tournament in one attack, he could focus on getting stronger for the tournament from there.
"This power... it is quite amazing. I won't be able to fight you for very long at all in a form like that. Once more I couldn't expect any less from you." despite how gloomy the words used sounded, the demon couldn't help but snicker a bit as he would get into a ready stance for himself seeing as he was having to go against such a powerful opponent such as this. The Saiyan also seemed to be wasting no time at all to go straight for the demon with a powerful barrage of moves. Furthermore, the power behind every single blow that was being sent to the demon was quite intense, pushing him back a lot as he didn't even throw his hands up to block it this time, sending him flying backwards after the flurry was finished off as he would catch himself in the air a bit, panting from the damage done to his body as he would clutch his chest. Even then, he couldn't help but smile a little bit as he would leak blood out from his lips. This man was no pushover... pushovers weren't good for a tournament like this, but the demon didn't want to be a pushover himself.
"Alright... I'm going to show you the full power that I can output in a battle... I expect someone of your skill level will be able to handle it. But, be warned, if you try to block it you'll be in for a surprise!" the demon would say one final thing to the man before he would move his hand directly over where his demonic heart was beating, his energy forming a little charm in his hand as the energy would immediately burst outwards over his chest, the demon's eyes getting really serious before he would close his eyes. "Oh, holy sword basked in light, grant me your power once more to let our forms unite. United as one, we will light up the sky but darken it like night. The Knight of Twilight calls upon thee!" the moment that his prayer was over, the charm that the demon held in his hands would immediately ignite itself into a massive beam of white light as his eyes would open and stare directly at his opponent.
He would move the sword above his head, causing the pillar of golden light from his hands to reach the sky as his sclera would turn pitch black, pillars of black smoke pouring out of the Demon's back. The instant this happened the beam of light would turn black with red highlights around its edges making the bright light that it gave off immediately cause the area around it to go dark from its looming shadow. All of his Demonic Power was mixing with the Holy Blade at this point, twisting them to unite as one into what the Demon would dub... the Twilight "EXCALIBUR!" his roar would immediately boom off as he brought the blade downwards, firing the massive beam off at the man before him. Its power was massive compared to what the Demon would normally be able to put out. Thankfully, he was fighting someone with a power that would rival even the Dark Holy Blade's power so nobody would be truly harmed that day.
For now, that was all that the Demon could will himself to do, the massive amounts of energy being output by his blade causing him to pant softly as he had grown rusty when it came to putting out so much power in one swing. Last Edit: Feb 7, 2018 6:58:49 GMT -5 by Bernael: Added stamina
Cornatto easily went through the man’s defenses and unleashed a powerful flurry, strong enough for him to push him back a little. He had to say, that this power was quite satisfying! He had not recovered all of his power just yet, but he was quite satisfied with just how far he had gotten. The Earthling Saiyan who was now still dressed in blue and yellow, with a hint of black and white because of his belt and martial arts shoes, now donned the hairstyle and color of a Super Saiyan. The legendary transformation that had proven Saiyans to be one of the most powerful species in the universe and even now, the strongest fighter— non-God alive, that Cornatto knew was indeed a Saiyan. Nasu. The latter, though, had found his way to powers that could rival one of Gods and although they were probably not as powerful as the ones of a God of Destruction; or at least, that’s what he believed, they were indeed on another level.
Level.
It was such an important thing in the world they lived in; he considered it neither the living nor the dead but the world generally speaking. Everything spun around power, it was what could bring this universe together or force it to shatter; in a certain way, though, ki was not even all that could actually form the galaxy as they knew it. Not all men and women were capable of wielding such powers or they did, but they either had little potential or simply did not know much about it.
In Cornatto’s opinion, everyone could become just as strong as he had gotten. It was something that he had strongly believed not to be possible to reach certain milestones that were located above the Super Saiyan just that easily and yet, he was certainly not the only man with this kind of power and he did not speak man as in the likes of the Saiyan but truly every single fighter that he had met before. Many were Earthlings, Namekians, Majins, there was truly quite a mix of people.
Most of the time, people would find themselves at a stale point; almost as if they couldn’t progress any longer but why was that? What was this wall that people could not surpass and that limited their powers to an extent, not even their willpower could bring them past their limiter? Who could know? Although Corn did actually notice something— most of the time people would sort of go ‘missing in action’, such a military term that Cornatto used to define what happened to those who abandoned their battle instincts.
It was, unfortunately, something pretty common. He didn’t actually get in conflict with the idea of ‘retiring’ whether to be peaceful or not, he had to deal with a similar situation himself but he wouldn’t have ever wanted to get into it once more, just like it had happened once to him. It was a long time ago but the man could still remember that he had gone so weak he could barely burst out all of his Super Saiyan power, it was quite terrifying yes.
Cornatto, though, was sure that he would have never ended up in the same situation again. From what Bernael had mentioned earlier, it looked like the two had indeed gone through that time in their life. Some people, especially half-humans, would lose their will to fight for the rest of their years and instead dedicate themselves to other things prone to their hybrid culture. An example was Half-Saiyans, especially the Earthling ones who would give up fighting over something else such as living their life on Earth.
But, not everyone was like that. One of the people he had known to have retained their will to fight was Karota and that woman could even be worse than any other Saiyan the man had ever met before. It was quite an unusual case for the man; at least Karota was probably the only one hybrid that he had met who hadn’t actually let her human blood to take over and give up fighting.
He guessed he was happy about that! For her sake and her family’s. He actually wondered how Miso was doing for a short moment, needless to say, that both him and Miso hadn’t actually ever interacted that much because of their differences they couldn’t exactly get along as in the way that Corn did with his brother. Just thinking about it brought him all the way back to his old days when the Saiyan Alliance had first been born and Corn easily got to bond with them.
They were a rather friendly group after all. He could not help but feel like the bunch had shaped the man into what he was today a little, of course, it was still a number of things that truly made the Cornatto that he was today but he also wondered what it would have been like for him if he had not met them. Perhaps he would have stayed on Earth, yes, but what about his strength? It was quite complicated to think about, therefore it was a thought that the man usually pushed off his mind.
Maybe it was also something that Bernael had thought about once. If he had done different decisions. Cornatto was mostly a straightforward guy, so even if such things were to arise in his mind he’d usually shove them away, out of his mind. And now, that the two were finally getting to the real part of the ‘spar’ they could finally power up to the best they could muster up. Bernael did, too, more or less as Cornatto watched part of the ritual of his final technique.
He did not exactly understand one word of what he was on about, but he had to say that it was quite astounding just how intricate this attack was, but did he really have to go through the whole phrase all the time? That could have been a problem during the tournament if the opponents were to take advantage of the time needed to ‘cast the spell’.
The Turtle Hermit smirked. “Hehe. So that is all your power? Interesting!”
But it wasn’t long until he was proven wrong. Bernael then, assumed a different type of stance with the energy that had focused which had shaped after a sword. It was quite a peculiar, majestic one but he supposed it was similar to Galen’s technique in that sense. Cornatto furrowed his brow ever so slightly, watching the man further empowering his attack to amounts that were truly remarkable. It was so amusing that his expression truly let go of its hardness and instead gasped at its strength, until the man quickly got a grip of himself and lowered his head, but with his gaze fixed towards Bernael.
“Now that’s some ki! Alright, then I will give you some extra big power, too!”
The man closed his fists and unleashed a fiery, crimson aura that fused with his golden ki; he released a mighty roar as his power exploded into one much greater than before and that would probably cause a short earthquake in the proximity of their battlefield.
[Super Saiyan Two Kaioken X10 [x42] | Power Level: 15.776.292]
“KAIOKEN!!”
His ki had remarkably increased and so much that bolts of lightning easily surrounded the form of the man; he had braced himself, initially he looked like he’d just want to take the hit right head on. But that was not what he had planned as he lowered his stance a little bit and shifted his pose to actually pull himself back to his left side. One hand laid above the other as he cupped his hands closely and charged his own attack.
“Ka…”
Soon enough, energy twirled in a spiral that formed within his hands until a sphere of radiant, blue energy finally spawned between his hands. The Turtle Hermit was charging his signature technique; the Kamehameha. One of the most powerful attacks he could count on because of the sheer amount of energy focused in one solid spot that would then explode against his opponents.
“Me... ha… me…”
Similarly to Bernael, the man spelt the technique’s name as his voice grinded against his vocal cords, evidently growling between each letter that put together the appellation of the technique.
“HAAAAHHHH!!”
Cornatto launched his hands forward and finally let out all of the energy he had built up, now that he had used his most powerful attack; an energy wave aimed to take right on Bernael’s attack and overwhelm it with all of its power. As both attacks clashed but was soon taken over by the energy of his Kamehameha as it would then overpower the Excalibur Beam and then go straight towards the red-haired male; aiming to strike the man with all of its strength.
The man relaxed his posture and let his chest slowly rise and then fall down once more. He was breathing as deeply as he could, the Kaioken did not quite hit him too hard anymore but he had to say it was still a little bit taxing but he had already been perfecting it a lot since he had learned the skill with King Kai.
Finally, the male reverted back to his base form and shifted his gaze to face Bernael. “Alright, hahaha… I guess that’s enough! You have some incredible strength man! You should be proud of it. I am totally up for taking you in with us to the tournament, so yeah. Hmm, it should be soon enough so just prepare yourself and my friend Whis will come nad pick you up, so that you can come back to life for the necessary time,” - said the man before both his index and middle finger of his right hand extended, each at two different sides, forming a small angle in the middle; basically a V, but also the peace sign.
“I’ll see you later then!”
The man flew off into the distance until his energy was no longer senseable.
The Tournament was about to begin. Soon.

Whilst being proud of his own attack, the Demon's eyes couldn't help but widen as the Saiyan powered up even further beyond his Super Saiyan Two form. It still seemed to be somewhat the same... but another layer of power was shoved on top of it to make the form very intimidating. The Demon would chuckle a bit as the man would charge up a powerful attack of his own and slam it directly exact his Excalibur beam. He was a little disappointed that his attack was being overwhelmed this way but at the same time, he couldn't help but smile knowing that he forced the Saiyan to output such a power. "Heh... you definitely win this one, Cornatto." he would say a bit to himself as the beam would slam against his body as he held his arms up to brace for the impact.
Amazingly, Excalibur was strong enough to take out the wide majority of the attack that was placed towards him. Because of this, the remainder of the beam that slammed into him would leave only minor burns and marks on his arm but he felt no pain really, he was okay. That alone made him feel far more powerful than he truly was... to take such an attack from a strong opponent with no damage really was something to be proud of in his book. This was further shown when the Saiyan would compliment him, making the Demon smile happily. "I'll prepare myself... and I'll find my own way out of here, don't worry about your friend. It won't take me too long I hope, I'll be in the world of the living in no time. Thank you a lot for this, Cornatto." he would smile as the man would give him a peace sign in a way, the Saiyan's energy drifting away as he flew off until Bernael could no longer feel the energy whatsoever. It was time, then... he had to get ready for the Tournament of power and everything that would come with it.
That alone was quite intimidating, and the Demon wasn't really sure how he would be able to handle it. But all of that would come in due time, he would head back towards his little training area that he had grown fond of, ready to start the next chapter in his adventure.
