Good lord, this place had really changed, hadn't it?
It was her first thought upon her spacepod arriving on the planet, and after turning the thing into a capsule, making her way towards where civilization should have still been. She saw plenty of faces that shouldn't have belonged on the planet, and human ones of all beings in the universe.
That Vampire, one of the less mouthy ones anyway, was at least kind enough to inform her, this was something to prepare herself for. Even so, it was a different thing entirely to actually see it for herself. They gathered up together like the monkeys on Namek, just waiting around.
Were they really becoming that sort of planet now? There were old tales that they used to be a feared people. Had those monkeys backing up into the corner they should be, and when Lord Bris had came into power, it truly did feel like they were starting to get that reputation back.
His power seemed so godly back then. Felt like it would really change things around here. But she supposed it was true what they say about staying on a single planet, during one's early lifespan. There were greater powers around, than what the emperor had ever had. Hell, she had more power than he ever did now. Unless he was back now, of course. But seeing how things were, just from the outskirts alone, she had doubted that was the case.
They might have been a neutral planet since she had last been here, but to copy what Namek was doing of all places, things had really taken a different turn. She could easily take matters into her own hands here, but that would be a little too hasty. She wasn't sure what she was working with either.
How much had these humans had already touched what they shouldn't, hoping for their sympathy? They weren't supposed to cater for beggars, and what provisions these people had, would surely arrive in due time, if they had just wait a little. Although it just as well might not either.
It was always hard to tell with that one Vampire, who called herself queen. Ugh. She couldn't even bear to say that one's name. That woman and her people had sent her so many trips to the healing chamber. Made the progress of her training take much longer than it ever should have been.
But that was supposed to be behind her now. One of those other Vampires had granted her cutting off the ties she had to them, as if she really needed permission in the first place. Her agreement with that head Vampire in the first place, was to use the facilities there, and leave when she had felt herself ready. Having to be around that kind of air was just horrid. Nothing she would ever repeat again, even if it was choosing between life and death.
It was just so hard to be that pleasant around people not of her own, and ones who went on so much about how they got tired of other beings. As if they were really the gods they believed themselves to be. Hah. Their power might have been great, and she would have rather feared them than the monkeys, but it could be much more. She was in her true form now, tossing aside her other suppression forms. Why bother keeping her power that low, now that she had grown?
Though she supposed it was better to keep it low enough, not to concern the humans around here just yet. They really shouldn't have this much authority in the first place, going to someone else's planet. Especially not since the old Queen of Earth had died, making what alliance they had, pretty moot.
The faces she saw upon stumbling into civilization, funnily enough, was quite like looking into a mirror of sorts, if not for their expressions and eyes. Similar features, down to the bio-armor, but it was their power that made the difference. And while she kept herself suppressed, walking through and back to where her old haunts should have been, she wondered just what she had missed, since leaving the planet. It was hard to spot things first glance.
When she had left months back, it had been during a peaceful time. Nothing significant beyond Lord Bris disappearing elsewhere. Trying to sense his energy even now, she found it still missing, although she had seen one or two sights of humans out and about, actually in this place of theirs.
Just what were their intentions? She knew they were here as refugees, but to get so comfortably close, and what mutterings about the monkeys she had already heard from them, made her wonder if they were aiming for anything more. It wasn't below them to show some hospitality, but she and those she knew, were also the sort to talk about them, before and after they left. For the moment, she wouldn't pay any more mind to it, having spot what she was looking for.
Throughout the history of her kind, and their reputation of conquering planets, there was comfort to be had around their capital city. She wouldn't have said they had exactly shared their history's wealth, but they surely didn't live as horribly as the monkeys on Namek, and now the humans outside their walls. The place she had in mind to stop by first, had the interior of its walls so refined and polished. Well lit where it was needed and the like.
Though that wasn't what had captured her attention. There were a few pieces, decorations aligning the wall, that she hadn't recognized, but she had expected the design to change. No, what caught her attention, was one of the signatures within, and the sight of her fellow Kold Demon herself.
"Sanow, still in that third form I see."
"And you managed to survive after all. A lot of us had been wondering if you had died off somewhere, you know?"
With her broad shoulders and lizard like features, the alien had waved her over across a table that already had a set of wine on it. The kind of shared chuckle between that followed, brought back some absolutely delightful memories, made all the more better with that twang of an accent the other Kold Demon had. A rather expected effect of constantly suppressing to their kind's third form, and that raspy voice the form tended to carry with it.
She took a sip of the farthest wine that had yet to be tasted, lightly shaking her hand as she held it, to mix the thing better. This too, was something she had missed. Earth had its own wines yeah, but things tasted rather different, depending on the environment and all. Her homeworld was just better.
"Is that so? Well I'd say it'd be better if you all had joined the dead, if I wasn't interested as to why."
She might have gone into her true form, and very likely had the most power level around this joint, but it was hardly anything impressive. Their fifth form and beyond that, was where things had gotten interesting. Lord Bris had achieved the form himself, after all, and many of their kind before him.
"Well before that, the emperor still is missing. There have been no challengers to the throne, as far as I can recall, but I believe it's only because we all expected him to return. At least, before the humans had shown up, anyway."
Leaning back against the seated booth, the Kold had taken a sip of her own wine. That was right. The humans being around weren’t even an elephant in the room situation. They were taking advantage of a people without an emperor, and she no doubt could potentially turn this place into some tourist trap like Namek. Kami forbid that from happening. The slugs could do whatever they pleased, and people could whore out earth for what it was, but they had standards.
Just not the kind of power around to represent them and back that up. Someone to deal with the politics that could arise, instead of having these humans decide things on their own whim, with what other Kold Demons were hardly worth anyone’s time. She could play the role.
It all depended on a few things. Certainly nothing to rush for, and the humans might leave on their own in the first place. Although she supposed there was also the matter of them coming back, from what alliance they believed themselves to have. Could establish more comfort than they really should.
”But of course. We’ve might have had our ups and downs, but who really didn’t think his power was godlike enough to change all of that? A shame, he’s still in hiding somewhere.”
It should have really been cowardice, knowing the emperor had outright just abandoned their people, but it was one of their natures. Any Kold willing to complain oughta step up and lead themselves, if they were so willing to criticize. Lord Bris had done a decent job, but there were always going to be others like her, who believed themselves capable of doing better. They just simply lacked the power to do so, when plenty of opportunities came by for it.
”As for the humans, I think we’re all eager not to have them living out there like animals. Could you imagine if it was a permanent thing? Good lord, then they’d feel it appropriate to chat with us, even though they’re just sniveling bastards.”
And she had meant that in a forsaken way just as well, seeing the conditions of what their planet was like. If it wasn’t for the Vampires busying themselves, it could have easily just been a dead planet. She still had hopes they weren’t intending on settling beyond what they were used to. The planet of theirs, back when they had that kind of control, had always been a hard sell. Nothing but a dump where the useless of other species ended up at. In her eyes, at least.
”Ahh, you’ve always been so delightfully forward. It would change things around here for sure, having to give up even a little of what we have here.”
They had another shared chuckle, as they finished up their current wines, and moved onto the next. Shaking it first, as they continued to talk. A whole day could have easily been spent here, although she did need to get a move on, once she caught up on things, since her trip. It couldn’t just easily be decided whether or not she should do anything to the humans. She wasn’t the impulsive type. There needed to be the kind of reason that didn’t just seem like banter.
”I’d say the biggest thing you had really missed, would be the Saiyans having attacked awhile back. Took interest in the Tree Of Life, while they destroyed the capital. Beyond that, you owe me some time off from your share of work.”
Elbows resting on the table now, and looking as if she was going to snicker, the other Kold Demon was so obviously enjoying being able to give this bit of news. She had knew this as well, from being on the planet, though to think they would really go against the hospitality their kind were capable of showing, even to lowly monkeys. She supposed the long history between them, whether their planet was neutral or not, would continue its existence.
A sigh had escaped her. It was an infuriating thing to hear news of. She had always been the one ready to be by the side of a more influential Kold Demon, wanting to go into battle, but lacking the power to. And now that she had it, and missed defending her own planet, there was really nothing but waiting on another opportunity to arise. She supposed it started with the humans here first, being a current problem, and potentially treated horribly by them.
”I suppose that can’t be helped. But if we’re exchanging stories, then I must tell you where I’ve been.”
She might end up staying here all day after all.
