He was discharged.
Had served with this group for months, telling them of history on battles he had been through, or recall hearing about himself. He had even trained them, combating with his speed. It was easy to remember the first time he had been recruited to join them, and what exactly he was tasked to do.
He had held back his speed at first, knowing his young boss, wasn't close at all to his pea. But as she grew stronger, and the others did as well, that became impossible. He was pushed to his limits, revealing how his body was fast enough to constantly vibrate, like he was going to just disappear.
But that Vampire was just something else entirely. She didn't rely on afterimages, or her body vibrating away like his. For a lot of untrained eyes, the kind of speed that one held, could be missed in the blink of an eye. It reminded him of a battle he had on the Yardrat planet, and the way their people so often messed with time and space. There was danger there if one wasn't careful, or got too lost in the feeling of speed, rather than their surroundings.
Going fast enough, things just blurred past or slowed down in its entirety from their perspectives. He wouldn't call his own speed to be godlike, and even the Vampire at her best, couldn't reach that yet. But it was better than what most people had. Less competition when one knew what they were doing.
It was just a shame he likely wouldn't be around to continue seeing it all. Out of place, was what he had been told he was around here. Which had its truth. He was old enough for them to have been his kids, and the Vampire never failed to bring in another woman around the place, even if all of them didn't live here. But to work for the Kold Demon that had left on her own, he wanted to say was a possibility. That it might actually happen for him.
What else was there for him? The Brenchians, from what he heard exploring through space with them, had been turned into slaves. He couldn't help a partner in speed alone. And the Supidoans had the kind of history together with the Kolds, for him not to be rejected by that one, for whatever she had planned.
He should have probably been more at a loss at being discharged like this, but it really couldn't be denied that they didn't really need them. They had speed of their own now, and all of the tales he told of what he had been through himself or heard of, it wasn't a secret they didn't enjoy it.
But that was just the fun of being around a place with different people. They had to work together, and do whatever it took to pass the time around here. Wipe away any tension the power houses were capable of giving off when the situation called for it, which his tales did tend to be capable of.
A sigh had escaped him, as he lunged the few things he had with him, into one of the spacepods that they kept here behind the mansion. From the feel of things, and what he had glimpsed at earlier, the woman was talking to a new visitor that was some kind of powerhouse as well. He had always enjoyed the debriefing the Vampire tended to give, seeing how someone so young had found such faith into her own power, and her own speed, in the choices she made.
He was going to miss that part. Speeding into the back of the mansion to grab his things, hadn't been a long process. He was in and out back in less time than it really took, only slowing when he saw some of the faces he wasn't likely to see ever again. The group here didn't seem like they were going to really explore all too many planets any longer. The whole plan of the Vampire, was going to change a lot of things around here, if it could be pulled off.
It would be interesting for sure to hear about and pass on.
