“The first stage was difficult, but this next stage may be even harder yet. It is time to bring myself to my knees and push myself to the limit…,” he muttered softly to himself. The invasion of the Saiyans was imminent, and he needed to be ready to face them. They had a lot of strong warriors on their side.. So even with the barrier of Makai to keep most of them out - their whole civilization could be led to ruin with just a squadron of these fighters. Nakiya made a big mistake in letting the Saiyaness get away with the Saiyan King. She would prove to be a valuable asset against the Demon Realm, and Nasu would make damn sure to make use of it. It would take a miracle to avert their destruction.
Heizen had once again adorned his armor, but this time he equipped it with a new toy. Not only did this armor inhibit his energy and slow his movements, but these power couplings he placed on his ankles prevented him from ascending past a certain power level. It was much like the technology he had witnessed in the World Martial Arts Tournament. This would keep him from overpowering his next challenge with sheer force. Instead he’d have to rely on his wits and his martial skill. This was about training his body under the harshest of conditions, and it was about mastering the next set of techniques from the Book of Amon. The next technique was going to be a tricky one. He had been struggling with it for days but it was for sure something that would take a lot of effort. Amon was not only a fair swordsman, but also a master of spatial manipulation. The ability to rewrite space itself around him, and with that ability he could create chaos on the battlefield. He was a plague to fight for his unique techniques, and it was from that which he derived his great strength.
Heizen was a brute, or considered as such by many at least. His fighting techniques were simple albeit effective. Even his training under the Demon Queen proved to only enhance this. But when he was done learning all of these techniques then he would evolve into something much more dangerous. A real warrior who also possessed strange and unique abilities, abilities that would help him to level the playing field on the battlefield. His new teleportation technique would prove quite in handy, as it negated wasting energy to enhance his speed. This technique was simply better, as it got the job done and had the benefit of confusing his opponents. The unpredictability of where he was going to end up would make things hard for his opponents to anticipate his actions and his counters. It was indeed a useful trick. But this next trick would be even more useful.
The ability to redirect abilities by creating connected portals in reality. Portals that manipulated space itself so that what was once heading toward him could instead focus on his enemy’s allies (or even their planet itself)! Heizen would be unstoppable. An army could come to oppose him and so long as he had enough power he could make them destroy themselves! It was an impressive skill and it would prove most useful to the future Demon King. It would also prove to be a great counter to the Saiyan’s fighting style, who fought openly and directly in a fight to win. Had he had this ability on Saiya… then he could have protected Nyxosa with ease. By bridging a portal between Fennle’s blast and that cursed Saiyan Negi… he could have humiliated her by making her harm her own comrade.
Such a thing would have hurt her precious pride. Oh how delicious that would have been. Alas - he could not worry over such things now. He had practiced the technique for hours, and though he could create the portals… he had a difficult time with the timing. In a combat scenario he seemed likely to be too slow with the activation to make it count. He needed to master the timing in a real fight otherwise the technique would prove useless to him.
That was what the three combat drones were for. And to make things extra interesting… he increased the difficulty by doubling the gravity of the last session. “Hopefully you’ll do better than the last hunk of junk that I dismembered!” the Jackal Demon shouted at the three drones with a grin. These were lower quality drones, but given the circumstances they would do just fine. They represent a perfect scenario for him to test this out. Each was weaker than he was by a proper proportion. It was only when all three of them attacked him together that they overpowered him. With the twenty times gravity affecting him - this was definitely in their favor. At least if he didn’t master this technique. “It’s hit or miss here… remember that,” he reminded himself.
And thus the battle began! The three green drones charged at him on foot with their blade attachments. Two of them ran around him whilst one of them went head on, as their plan was simply to surround Heizen. They succeeded in their attempt, and all three of them lunged hoping to pierce him across the torso from three different angles. He leapt just in time to avoid their blades, before summoning his red Demon Sword in his hand. This technique was at least pretty easy to use. “DIMENSION SWORD ATTACK!” he shouted with rage as the red longsword glowed with a bright light, focused like a laser. Swinging it - the Jackal Demon fired a barrage of streaks functioning as small portals. These portals tore at people as it ripped whatever flesh it touched into another space. A more aggressive and offensive use of the spatial powers! Panting - Heizen realized his folly as the technique drained unnecessary energy and left him vulnerable to attack.
The droid he targetted created a barrier around himself with his energy - draining all of its power in order to shield itself from the incoming attacks. And it mostly worked. Only one of the streaks bypassed it’s shields, ripping off one of its blade arms. Heizen gritted his teeth. The other two meanwhile fired energy cannons from their mouths at the Jackal Demon. The yellow energy beams rushed to meet the Jackal Demon. “NOT THAT EASY!” he roared as his entire body began to disassemble at the molecular level. The valuable thing about this technique… is that he wasn’t physically moving but rather shifting his position! So even in this tedious gravity he was able to dodge without too much trouble.
It appeared that he disappeared from existence, but rather he had just manipulated his position by disassembling himself on the molecular level and transporting himself. Reappearing in the chosen location - Heizen re-appeared behind the droids and with a horizontal slash cut another arm off one of the drones. They did not feel pain… but at least he was making progress in disabling their weapons. The difficulty with these things was he was spending way too much energy to deal with them one at a time….
He soon found himself smacked in the face with a metal forearm- sent flying into the wall. The rush of pain coursing through him drawing his ire and fury. He groaned as he stood up, dark blue energy swirling all around him. “You’ll pay for that…,” he growled. Opening up his mouth - Heizen released a mighty roar of flames from his mouth. Red Fire bursting from his throat to scorch and incinerate one of the robots entirely. The room heating up with great haste as melted metal collapsed in the room of the arena. Heizen was exhausted however.. Panting for air as Hhs muscles ached from the Gravity Chamber’s strain on his body. These conditions were brutal, especially with the weighted clothing attached. “Why are you like this.. You stupid tin cans!”
The two machines remaining rushed at him - ready to take advantage of his fatigue! They beat down on him mercilessly with the remaining use of their three limbs. Though he tried to dodge and deflect their attacks with his blade… he found himself too tired and overwhelmed to do anything! This was about his stamina on top of his endurance. He needed to better manage his ability to exert power in fights to minimize his vulnerabilities! If he could only master his portal technique… then he could manage to turn their own attacks against one another. He wouldn’t have to worry about wasting his energy as he could simply use it to good use by protecting himself and striking them at the same time. Alas.. he didn’t have time to practice that yet. He had energy to regain!
As he raised his energy once more… he prepared to gather more energy so that he could attempt to create those portals again. If he could do that then he’d have a chance. Dodging an incoming blade from the machine by somersaulting over both of them in the air and landing on his feet. Rotating on one foot to face them as he prepared to block two incoming blades. Deflecting one sword attack while blocking the other with his arm coated in ki, he found himself on the defensive from these two bots. He was beginning to feel much more comfortable in this gravity over time. “Damn it… I’m getting the hang of this.. But they don’t let up at all. I’m going to have to show them who's top dog!” the Demon Lord said with confidence. Lifting up a knee and then extending the leg he kicked one away and counter struck the other bot cutting down its other arm, disabling its blade. All that remained were their legs and their mouths which could fire blasts of ki. Panting with a chuckle he knew that this was getting easier. By disabling them over time he was regaining the advantage. Soon he’d be able to muster enough concentration to try that trick again. With two bots surrounding him again, Heizen found himself dodging and weaving through another endless barrage of attacks. Gathering up his strength.. This seemed like it was the finale. The final surge. Though they tried their best to clobber him with their metal limbs they could not manage to catch the chaotic Demon Lord with his strange awkward movements as he hovered in bizarre directions all around.
After pushing them away with nothing but the force of his ki they were knocked back and damaged somewhat. With their gears and circuits damaged they only had one recourse. This was the opportunity that he had been waiting for the entire spar. While they kicked him around and pressured him in this intensive gravity (while he was restricted by his weights and power limiters) he was trying to wear them down to a point in the fight where he could finally concentrate.
As the two machines began to charge up red energy spheres in their open mouths.. Heizen’s ki heightened. Dropping the red sword to the ground with a loud clang, he extended both of his arms and closed his eyes for a moment as he gathered his thoughts and tried to focus on what he was doing next.
“Connect with the Universe around you… Understand it’s flow. Reach out across that great flow and bend it, reimagine it to your will. And from there re-arrange it as you’d like. Guide energy, even matter… to where you’d like it to be instead. Extend your reach and become a master of space, a master of chaos, a master of reality itself…,” he recalled. That was the passage from the Book of Amon itself.
Dark Blue Ki enveloped him entirely and heightened for a few moments beyond its normal parameters. He was close to his next evolution. He just needed something to help him push past his limits, and he knew exactly what he should do after this to meet that end. For now he merely focused on this. As the bots spheres began to enlarge with great energy - he focused on the room around them and where he wanted those spheres to land instead. He focused on what he needed to do and how to do it. And when they fired as red beams hoping to scorch him with their power - he responded in kind and created four wormholes in space! Two rifts from which the beams would pass, and two wormholes from which they would re-enter.
The two beams crashing down on the bots knocking into the other’s ally. Explosions rang out as the machines were destroyed by their own unity, the smell of burnt oil and machinery polluting the air. Wheezing and panting as the Jackal desperately panned for air, Heizen felt the exhaustion of his first spatial manipulation. It was a difficult, but empowering feeling. To bend reality to his own whims to create portals capable of redirecting and repositioning the battlefield to his liking. It was enchanting to say the least. He laughed and he laughed as the machines were finally erased from this annoying session. Walking slowly he turned off the machine to relieve himself from the added weight and stress. He had accomplished his goal.
Stage Two had been complete. Stage Three however would require a Partner…. And he knew exactly who he should contact…
