He blinks in surprise. "Ermy...That's a new one." Given his lack of real "Social" contact with anyone, it was newer than even he would think, it was actually not all that bad, in an odd way, he doesn't exactly make friends in his job, and while he wasn't sure if the two could be considered "Friends" or not, they were at least acquainted, it was a lot nicer than the multitude of times he'd go through a job and end up at the business end of a dangerous weapon. But he shrugged, accepted the change, placed it into his coat pocket without thinking too much about it and began following her.He was far more cautious about where he stepped now than he was earlier, given the accident earlier, he wasn't going to risk running into another vehicle. and owe another favor. One favor for now was plenty to him. "So this house...Is it his main residence, or just a sort of "Vacation home"? Or perhaps something more humble than that? There aren't a lot of houses around this part, I'm guessing it's some kind of apartment." Though his statement was proven incorrect as they came up to the building, so he thought, anyway.
"Nice place. Seems awfully busy, though." But he simply looks at her in response to her words, a little taken aback. "He was both a Martial arts master and something else? Hm. Sounds like a busy man." He was certainly glad to hear there may be something to go through inside, any contact information too could be incredible to find, perhaps the two could shed light on something, that... or it go how he hoped it wouldn't happen - They'd be left asking even more questions and not a step closer to finding the man...As they entered, he took a few glances around the lobby, trying to figure out what exactly the place was. He simply stood back as she walked up to the counter, not about to get in her way, and soon figured it out anyway.
Though he's surprised once more as he overhears her talking to the clerk, he heads over to her just to say "A martial arts master, and a doctor. Are there any other professions he had?" He was mostly joking about that last line, it was starting to amuse him to see her reactions, probably a dangerous habit, he thought, though he wouldn't exactly be surprised if he really did have more professions than those two, this guy sounded...Nearing eccentric, like something out of a movie, maybe. He doesn't think it over for too long however as he begins following her again, he's not going to waste any time, especially not if it came with the risk of making her mad for the...Fourth time? Fifth time?Doesn't matter, there was work to be done. "Right then. I'll be as thorough as I can." He immediately gets to work, opening one of the cabinets and searching through it, for anything at all, pulling out each and every item inside each drawer, looking over and reading them all one by one, he then repeated this with the next one, and the one after that, looking for contact information especially. Names, locations, dates, relations, anything and everything, and he found plenty of it, maybe more than he had bargained for, he begins handing over each file and item with contact information over to the Elemi. "If you recognize any of these people, places or times, let me know, it might narrow things down."
He was rather bafflingly thorough, making sure each and every item was inspected carefully, then handed to her for more inspection from her take on things, he was going to find a lead here, he knew he had to, there was a gold mine of info, it was like any doubts had been cleared in his mind, he wasn't absolutely certain any of it would be relevant, but he had a gut feeling it was, he was hot on the trail in his mind and he was going to make sure it didn't go cold. After what felt like hours he finally cleared out everything, having handed it all over to her after reading through it all carefully. If there was anything there, they were going to find it. He made a mental note of as much information as he could, waiting for further confirmation from Flare before going furter and writing it down in his notepad. He was excited, anyone could have seen it on his face. It was almost impressive the way he managed to metaphorically dissect those cabinets.
"I'd like the mention why I call it his house." She started as she went ahead and took a seat in the doc's chair, facing the wrong way with it's back covering her torso. "Yes, he's a practicing doctor. He's not the work everyday sort of type though. Martial arts was always more of his style so he hit a deal with the clinic to give him a spot and come by when they needed him." She rolled around in the chair as she kept on. "It was almost voluntary any time he came up here. Yeah, crazy right? Worked for a PhD and all that and gave up on it just to take a side-job with it and remain a sensei!" She just continued to shake her head and spin around in her seat now. She was a little care-free in her attitude involving public spaces and property. "I call it his house because when he IS down here, he'd stay down for weeks at a time. Mostly during a crisis of some sort. Epidemic is a possible threat, and any sudden outbreak of viruses could be pretty nasty to deal with."
As a whole the cabinets were pretty bare. Your typical bottles of shots, measurement glasses, disposables. Most of what was up there belonged to the hospital itself. It wasn't until he got to the end of cabinets in the far corner that he'd start finding more personal records; First thing that would probably pop up is some replacement tiles for the title outside the door. Another was a rather good photo id of him with his titles and an address to his home. "Kliet Scion" Was his first and surname as it came to be. Picture's a few years old judging by the print date and the fact he has a less pronounced grayness than what Flare put on he had. He didn't seem to keep much in this personal drawer, so the next gave way to a copy certificate. A pair of hearing aids from what it looked like. There was a big notepad that served as a scheduling calendar. The most recent dates on it was a good year old. The filing cabinet beside this corner cabinet would give him plenty of client folders and prognosis to look over. One row in said filing cabinet stored his own meds and some small envelope with the words "For a certain little flame" scribbled on the front of it. Each respective item being handed to her made her stop in place for a moment to give it a look again.
"You have to remember, I only ever came over to spend time with him here once." Most of what she looked at seemed pretty typical of Scion, handling his hearing aids with gross caution. "Ugh, that's where they went." She tossed them pretty quickly as he kept coming with the items to give her. The elemi would give her own look on most of he things handed without so much speaking of it, shrugging her shoulders at most the biopsies that she didn't really recall seeing or hearing mention of. The small envelope, however... It was written to her, judging by the description plastered on its front but that seemed to just get strange looks from the young flame as she looked the thing around.
"Huh, now why would he make this? It's not like I was coming back down any time soon." But that was just it, wasn't it? There's a reason for it being inside the filing cabinet, so there was one thing to do. Open it. She unlatched the small elastic band from it's button hold and lifted the flap to reveal a small piece of paper alone inside. It looked rather... well thought out. He had time to type this. Flare started reading it aloud for him to hear.
"Dear Jackie, I know this is abrupt but if you've resorted to looking here then you are on a good track. Now I know you might be wondering why this old man was treating you this way. Simple. Jackie, there are people right here, right now, wanting you removed from the company your parents left you. I have no clue as to who or why, but I had my suspicions and left unannounced so you could come looking for me for a few weeks. They had originally come after me, but I held them off. I fear staying in one place for you is dangerous at this point, so I've been making you tediously chase me while those hunting you were none the wiser.
Jackie, listen. Now that you know this, and now that I know that it needs to be shut down before whoever's sending these assassins, I'm asking you to stop searching for me and instead look for he who hides in sheep's clothing. That's where you'll find the culprit, young grasshopper." Flare snorted at the title for a good few seconds, just shaking her head. Cliches are a fantastical thing. "-All I know of the people is that it's someone that would benefit from your removal.
Don't worry about me, Jackie. I'm also looking for who is orchestrating this. I have faith in you that either one of us can deal with this problem given the circumstances. Remember your training, and continue it on your own. If I am to find and execute justice before you do, I will come home. Make sure to check the dojo from time to time.
With a slap on the wrist and a pat on the back, Scion." That last bit seems to have encapsulated her a bit as she blankly smiled at the note for several seconds further before. She looked up from the note at him with a genuine smile across her face; not some sort of smirk she usually gives.
"Tch, the man knew I would attempt to find him on my own. And that I was too stubborn to check here any earlier." She went to step out of her seat and stand up with the envelope and note in hand. "I'm sure that was a lot to take in for ya, Looks like I'm not looking for my master anymore, but... someone else. Or some people. - Look, I'm not going to ask you to continue trying to help me. You payed for a meal and took your time walking around with me to just end up... finding something really obvious." Flare started to look over the note again, sighing in relief that the man was at least still alive. "This was printed just a couple of days ago, so I am sure he's still around." For a moment her hair sent whiffs of fire from it as she lost her smile and assumed a glare at the note. "This means some fuck got not only our exploration delayed but was out to just kill me any anyone near me... I'll burn a bitch, I swear."
He takes it all in for moment...Just listening, to both that letter, and her anger. He couldn't believe the case was already over... "So, you do have enemies, then...I'm surprised it turned out this way, it's never been that easy." ...But there was something in him that just wasn't satisfied with the end result. There was something more, maybe he was being too obsessive over this whole thing, if he was, he'd regret it later, right now, despite how his job is "Done", he can't call it done at all. No, instead... "...Listen. You don't have to accept it, if you want, we can go our separate ways here and now we can end this and never say another word." He looks at her before continuing. "...But this whole thing is unsatisfying, it's not done yet. I can't just leave it at that. If you'd accept my help, I'd like to see it all through."
It was a strange request, not just for her, but even more-so for him, he never asked to continue helping someone when his job was done. He usually just got his payment and moved on, but he couldn't accept it like this, an assassin? he knew about those all too well, it stirred something up in him...Anger. He wasn't hiding it, either, his anger was showing through, it was probably a little more than surprising to see a man who had been so calm suddenly get almost equally as mad as she was. "I just...Can't let it go, I don't know why, maybe I'm being ridiculous, but it's no good."
He points at her, still rather angry at the whole thing. "I'm going to help you find who's against you. I'm going to help you show them justice. The kind that isn't harmless, they're not getting away with this. If you want the help? The help is there, no charge, no questions, just say the word." It brought up too many bad memories, it was like he was looking at his past all over again, he wasn't going to let it end badly this time, if he could help it. Maybe it was selfish, maybe he was asking too much, but he couldn't hold back, this was something he needed to ask, something he needed closure on, to make sure those bastards got the justice that was coming to them. He was going to deliver it himself if he had to, but at the same time he knew he'd have to get in line behind her first.
He soon cools off just a little, it's still clear he's angry, but he's gone back to his regular posture again. "...I'm sorry for all of that, it just got to me, I guess. I don't have anything else to say about it, just...A lot of bad memories and not enough closure." He was ready for either answer at this point, but he hoped it would be a yes, so that maybe he could close this whole thing for real.
He had one chance to jut walk away from it, one. She was being kind enough to let him get away with that much, and what does he do? He offers to continue working for her. Why was this man offering this? She frowned at him as he also got fired about about the whole thing, surprised that he started getting so into it. "What has gotten into you? - Ya know what, fuck it. Yes, you're coming with me now. No take-backs." The elemi placed the note back in its envelope and closed it up, putting it under her arm and she went ahead and started putting the things they got out back in place. "No need to apologize, Ermy. The anger's well justified. I'm surprised I'm not setting the room on fire right now... I mean, come on! Someone right under my nose is coordinating against my family. Whoever the prick is, I'll make sure to give some pretty scars." Small flames were whiffing from her hair again, but nothing dangerously large.
"We're going back to my place. We're not going to stay long, but we ARE going to sort out this one way or another!" She exclaimed rather loudly at him, stepped towards him and attempting to grab at his shoulders. "You don't have a ride there, do ya? In any case, I can fit us all in the LADD if you can't get their on your own that is. Any case, I'm going to go ahead and start the car." With that she was already headed on out of the clinic after the small back and forth, a bit of a stomp to her step. The people in the lobby could hear it, and most eyed towards her as she made her way out of the building with envelope in hand.
Flare would start heading back to her vehicle the same way she came from. Her free hand lit ablaze as she walked with a careful pace across the winding sidewalks it would take a little bit for the her to get on back to her own car. The craft itself was still as cold as she left it, so hopefully nothing had got damaged in the process. It'd be bloody terrible if such high cold temperatures could knock her thing out of commission... With effort she'd pry the semi-frozen door open and lean in to start the car. There was just... one stipulation. It made a click sound, but nothing rumbled. She frowned a moment, and only had to turn her head to see the lunch-box shaped Jax, still retracted in his little box form. What laid next to him scorched the top of the craft's metal roofing. "JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX"
