Thus far, everywhere we have looked for him had been in vain. It's like he vanished from Earth... He probably did to be honest. That's not a stopping point for the young flame however! She's adventurous, courageous, and above all resilient. Especially against such little things as temperature! The flame burns brightly in opposition! Which... is why Flare is riding around in her custom LADD with Jax at the passenger seat, asking him to determine temperatures.
"It's approximately -14 degrees Celsius outside of the LADD, factored at a feeling temperature of -20 degrees Celsius with wind chill." The tiny robot rattled off some figures that he instantly collected from the connection he had with the craft. "You wouldn't like it outside unless you set things on fire. I would freeze up out there as well." The little guy was becoming more articulate and creative with the ways he strung together ideas and sentences about people, so while the news wasn't all too great Flare was almost beaming at him. Almost. Does a small smile count?
"If we are to try and find Scorpy we will need to search every nook and cranny." The elemi responded to the small bot as she sped through the northern cold. The one thing she did like was the heater blasting in the hovercar. Felt super nice in the spite of the nippley cold outside. "We've already checked all the other major cities, we have to check more isolated towns." Jax was picking up on some sort of element previously hidden by him.
"Why not send others to go look for Scorpio? You do have a house full of workers and a whole company of employees at your disposal. You're a rich business woman, aren't you Flare?" The young flame looked out the side of her vision to look at him, ready to iterate in kind... up until a large blizzard started crashing into their vehicle.
"Ahh shit, hold on little man." Immediate course of action, slow down and attempt to get above the clouds. A bumpy ride was bound to start from it, but it was all effortless with the power the hovercraft had. Within moments they had pulled up over the storm, Flare putting it in a steady hover as she. Stationary as the two reassessed what they were doing. "Crisis averted, what were you saying?" The young woman leaned back in the driver's seat to listen to Jax again. "Something about me sending help out to do the work instead of looking myself?" The little robot nodded accordingly, getting a waved hand out to the notion that she could ever send people out to do the job.
"Jax, jax. Let me tell you something. You can't just send people out to do work like this for ya. They'll NEVER get anything accomplished. Average person's got the intelligence of a dozen eggs. If I can't find my old man based off nothing more than a note that's been dated, registered and thoroughly checked by scanners, then I don't know who could." The young elemi scoffed further by facing back straight in her seat. "Besides, no one is around that would care enough to look for him in my absence if I can't find him soon. On my own." She seemed thoroughly dismayed by what she just said about herself. It was almost like Jax had known of this and started chatting off shortly after.
"I would care enough, Flare. Am I not made to be smart?" The little thing blinked at her with green eyes. It was thinking thoroughly.
"Yes, Jax. You're made to be smart. You're not fully developed yet, but I assure you it'll be around some time soon that you can get the capacity to truly think like me. Imagin-"
"I would be your... 'hero', Flare. Is that what they call it? If I found Scorpio for you?" HNG, the little guy probably didn't understand why he would want to be a hero to Flare. She was almost amazed he could be so awkwardly human that she blushed at the proper sentencing. As result as well, it was getting a little hotter in the LADD from the fire she was now sporting at the ends of her hair.
"Jax... How do you know what a 'hero' is?" Baffled would be a good word for it. "Did you get into my comics or something?"
"Yes." That explains it.
"Well." She started to slowly glide the LADD across the bed of storm clouds as she reverted back to her usual self. She loudly snorted at the robot. "That explains that. Jax, tell me. Why's it that you would WANT to be a hero?"
"They help people, don't they?" Jax settled for answering a question with another question. "I want to help people." There's... no reason Jax should be thinking anything about that. No one around him has really been a heroic figure. Literally, no one.
"They do Jax, but-" The little guy cut her off. Again.
"Then you have the answer." She was so taken aback by the way the little bot was acting. This was very much human-like behavior. Childish, even. "You made me and gave me the ability to comprehend. I want to protect you for it."
"Jax..." She muttered as they finally started picking up speed again.
"Where are we headed again, Flare?" Aaaaand just like that the little robot was back to being a blunt machine. Flare rolled her ember eyes at the little guy and throttled the jets.
"Regrettably, to a place he took me once before."
- - -
The pair had lowered back down closer to the ground once the storm had blown over. This town they were stopping at was nestled between a mountain range; North City. North City was too cold if Flare was going to be honest with herself. Damn place was practically freezing. Flare parked the LADD right in a public parking lot, but... she really... REALLY didn't want to get out of the vehicle quite yet. No, it was too cozy inside.
"Do you know where to look, Flare?" The little robot chimed in eventually after a few minutes of sitting in the hovercar.
Lord, why was Ermine all the way here in North city? Why would someone ask for him to do such a simple task in spite of everything?? "This is ridiculous, I'm not a courier. But I need money, and business is always too slow in the "Missing persons" field...Sheesh, it's like I'm desperate or something."He trudges along through the snow covered streets, a taxi cab stops in front of him, honking. "I'm walking here!" He seems thoroughly displeased about this entire situation.
Every trip to North city was like walking through a pool of ice water, it's numbing and will usually get you hurt. Not that it's ever stopped him...Took a case here two years ago... "...Looks like it's there." He reads the address given to him, it's only a few blocks away from the looks of it.His pace quickens, it's not like the cold was a new experience, but he'd rather be in the milder range of temperatures, too much cold is harsh on the mind, so he thought... "I guess it's not all that bad of a place, though. Their monuments are impressive...Maybe I deserve a vacation after I'm finished here? ....nahhhhh." He passes by a parking lot. ...And gets hit with a snow ball.
"-Who..." It was a bunch of school children, all laughing and throwing snowballs at the passerby, including him. "Guess you like feeling bad, huh?" He begins making his own snowballs in spite of the attacks by the children, and finally gathers enough to begin his assault. "You're gonna regret it!" He begins tossing snowballs with impressive aim, striking many of them (Though not dangerously), and eventually causing several to stop. "Ha! Take that you little... ... Am I really playing with snow? At my age??" ...He starts to feel embarrassed and drops a snowball he was holding... "... Maybe I really DO need a vacation." ....His thoughts are immediately halted as the ice causes him to slip and slide right into some poor fellow's hover vehicle with an impressive thud. "...Not one of my better days." That whole encounter with snow and ice made a tremendous amount of noise.
It hasn't even been a minute for the two in the car. The knock shook the LADD a good amount, making Jax nearly tumble over in his seat. Flare narrowed her ember eyes at the man she briefly saw smack into them. "Oh, what in the fuck." The elemi grabbed a fireproof winter jacket from the back compartment and slapped it on, promptly shoving the vehicle's side door open to let herself out in the cold. Fire thing her agitated eyes went to was to see if the hovercraft actually had any significant damage. It wouldn't entirely matter if there wasn't even a scratch on the thing, fire started rolling off her head as she grew progressively angry.
"Youuuuuu!" Flare turned on the man, certainly not pleased that he bumped into her car. She jut a finger out at him, coming very close to poking him hard in the chest it with. "Watch where you're going! I just had the paintjob redone! Mended the dents and scratches on it just thirty minutes ago! I swear I WILL hurt you for damaging my labors!" The little robot still in the car had made his way next to the open door and looked out at the two of them, unsure as if it could step out without damage yet.
"The L.A.D.D. is intact and operable with no damage to report. Why are you angry?" The little robot now got the heat from the literally fiery lady, Flare having turned around to face the vehicle again to look at her robot. Jax seemed unphased by the anger. "EXCUSE ME YOUNG MAN!?" She yelled at Jax. The fire that started growing prior to her getting angry burst brightly now with the young flame having clenched her fists. She seems to be a little too easy to anger. "Get back in the car, you'll freeze your sensitive circuits!" She outright lied and slammed the door on the little robot guy's face. The young woman had taken a moment to straighten her posture and turn back to the man. She still glared at him, but the flames rolling off her hair had, for the most part, calmed down to small wisps. To compensate for the lack of heat she was getting now, she decided to hold a bit of fire in her hand and held it close to her.
"I could do without this damn cold. Makes me bitter, cold, and god damn does it hurt to get cold." Slowly, the Elemi rose a hand to straighten out her hair. Impressively enough, the fires from her hair did nothing to harm herself. "Tell me now, I'm curious. How the hell did you manage to hit my ride like that? I can understand slipping on ice and thudding into it, but that was quite the knock. Did someone shove ya?" She puts her free hand in a coat pocket and looks him up and down. "And just who are you?"
He stands back up with relative ease, wasn't the first time he took a blow to the head. ... In the past 2 weeks. He rubs his forehead with a frown, his eyes firmly shut. "Ermine Greis, Private Detective. I find missing people." With the pain subsiding, he opens his eyes, and begins staring at her, directly in the face, soon he switches his vision to look at the car...Hovercraft....Thing. And then his vision switches back to her. He's silent for a good two minutes as he looks both her and her vehicle over. "I'm guessing you're a space traveller. I'd pay for the damages, but I don't even know what that IS or if it qualifies for Earth maintenence for that matter."
"It was probably one of those kids who pushed me, they're shady..." He'd seen a lot of things in his life, both in the old one and the new one, but a human fireball was pretty new, almost baffling to him, and that little robot thing...It seemed awfully sentient. And what's up with this vehicle, he thought. Wasn't like the spacepods he was used to, did things really change that much in three years? He certainly didn't know.
"Look, if you're not mad, I should probably go, I've got a lot of work and things are just too damn cold out here." He turns down at the ground mumbling "and I've gotta get back to those horrible cases where mothers just accidentally lose their kids at grocery stores..." He's still a little surprised by all of this, but it's all hidden behind a cool expression, some stoic eyes and a bitter cold wind. Usually things like this didn't occur, he stopped encountering anything other than humans...Maybe he was too secluded. He didn't know for sure, but what he did know was that he had a feeling...One in the back of his mind, one that just sort of gave him the feeling something was about to happen soon.
He seemed to take the heat surprisingly well. Flare was half expecting him to retort in some way more than giving a name and assuming responsibility. He did it all with a straight face. Good, cause that makes Flare calm down as well. She dropped her glare at the man and instead tried leaning back into the hovercraft in a cool posture. "Tch, Space Traveler? I've not even been out there yet, better yet travel the place." She gave him a toothy grin as he offered to pay for it. "Oh you'll be paying for it alright, Mister Greis. I'll make sure of that." While in the right manner to do so the elemi checked the hood again for anything he left on it. From the inside of the car, Jax had managed to pry the door open on his own and blink green eyes at the two of them.
"Private Detective? Flare, this man could help you." The little robot then stared at it's owner. Its voice alerted her of his presence again, so she looked back at the small robot. "If you can help find missing people, then Flare could use you to help find Sc-" The elemi shot up from her inspecting and slammed the door again.
"You didn't hear anythin-" Jax rolled the panel window down and started talking again.
"Flare could use you to help find Sci-" Flare clenched his fist and resorted to grabbing the little guy by his slender neck and throwing him into the back of the vehicle. She began to roll up the window by reaching her arm in and activating the scroll up, but somehow the little robot had made its way out and stepped beside Ermine, prodding a small metallic finger at his coat.
"Flare could use you to help find Scion." Flare froze up from sheer anger and looked down at her robot, giving the ground a good stomp of frustration that makes a hole in the pavement. Her hair caught on fire for a brief moment as red eyes glared daggers.
"JAAAAAAAAAAX" She roared as she took a step forward aggressively. Instead of punting him or whatever though, she just continued yelling. This display of power and fire caught the eyes of a few people nearby. "Yes! Just tell everyone, Jax! I thought I taught you better!" The little robot seemed to not be phased by the yelling woman and just blinked back at her. "Yeah, yeah! I'm looking for someone, hot shot! What, ya think you can find him better than I can!?" Flare turned her anger onto Ermine, balling her non-fire first up and shoving it at him. "I'm angry and I want answers, and if you're the man to talk to then fucking blow me away!" This all seemed pretty unprecedented of a stranger. The fires coming off her hair again were getting larger and brighter.
Ermine can't help but flinch slightly, he puts an arm up to shield his eyes as he squints trying to look at her. "I can find them." It was such a blunt, basic statement, there was no sign of boasting or even doubt in it. He looks down at the little robot, then back up to her. "No one can just vanish. If they're still out there, we'll find them." He looks over at the ah...Impact site as well. "And I guess I owe you, anyway. Well, it works for both of us, then. I've been waiting for a break like this." He lowers his arm and places his hand into his pocket rather casually.
"But if I'm going to help you, I'll need info. Clues, names, places, motives. If you know it, it's probably relevant, and it's only going to narrow the trail in our favor." He takes out a pen and notepad, looking up at her, and back down at it occasionally. "Even if it sounds obvious, I need every piece of information I can get." He writes down the name that little robot brought up... "Scion". Then looks back up at the two. He may have seemed tired or careless before, but his posture has immediately changed, he's getting straight to work without hesitation.
"If you're looking for someone to really blow you away, you're in the wrong place, I get results, not bragging rights." Was his brief, yet not so harsh sounding retort to her request. How quickly he changed might seem impressive to some, but to him it was just another day of work. Had he finally gotten the work he waited so long for? He wasn't completely sure, but he wasn't about to waste the opportunity. He does everything he can to ready himself for answers, hopefully there would be enough for him to work with, there were so many things running through his head, all things he was used to thinking.
With him staying so calm about it, it was becoming increasingly harder to be mad at either of them. Jax was already waddling on back to Flare despite the fiery temper she was displaying, and the man before her was already asking questions; A complete 180 attitude towards her. "If... IF You somehow managed to find him, I'd give you a god damn kiss." The fiery attitude, just like before, dwindled down fairly quickly as she composed herself yet again. "I've already dissected his dojo, his house, and anything he left for me. Scion left me a note, simply saying that I should take over the dojo and make sure that the local cats are fed. - Yeah, he liked the cats that would come around and eat his scraps." The sass she was putting off with some of these would sound absurd to most. She'd use her free hand to lift Jax on up and carry him like a little child in the crook of her arm. Flare still held that fire close to her for heat.
"I've already had everything about him researched. Any possible retreats he has, any place he has ever been and planned to be at. I've searched them all, and the little guy isn't popping up anywhere. No, I don't trust any one of my employees or advisers to help me find him, they're all idiots." Upon the randomness of the last bit, the ever developing Jax found it time to include something on her behalf.
"She runs an engineering firm." The little robot pointed a finger up as to exaggerate his words. "She doesn't even trust those closer to her with helping." Even though he was helping her, Flare decided to give the robot a little smack on the side with her flaming hand, chuckling at the robot as if he were saying a joke. Except it was terribly noticeable that she was doing it to shake off his words.. Again, the robot didn't seem to react to her aggression.
"We can head back towards that place some time after we look here if you want. His dojo I mean. Perhaps the professional sleuth here can work magic, because I couldn't find crap. No one could." Jax was put back into the car. While in the vehicle the lady spoke two words: "Sleep Mode." It was all she needed for the little guy to turn off in the passenger seat and fold into himself like a retractable slinky. While she was at it the elemi cut the engine and rolled the window up completely before slamming it shut and looking around. Her eyes would carefully glance around before locking the hovercraft up.
"You said there were some shady kids." She explained before facing him again. "Anyways, I was going to head to the diner to get something to eat, then I'm headed around town to a house. Are you wanting to come with?" She asked of him as she kept a fire close, her free hand snug in a jacket pocket as she constantly wrapped the coat tighter around her. "Don't take your time now, it's too fucking cold for that."
He gives a nod to each of her statements, taking in every piece of info he can. "Seems like a tough case, barely any info, reminds me of the Vanished Craymer incident." ... Ermine liked naming each of his jobs, it made him feel more professional."But nobody needs one of those. Enough of that in your system and ... Well, you can say goodbye to your innocence." He thinks it over a bit more before speaking. "I still have more questions, but I suppose I can ask later. AS for your offer, I had other things to do, but...They're less important. Besides, I've not eaten all day, that'd be great." He stops himself for a moment however. "What about your little friend there? I don't know much about robots, but temperature really does have a bad effect on machines, right?"
He shrugs it off, like he said, he's no robot expert, he wasn't going to muse over it too much, there was work to be done, and he figured if he could get her calmed down, things might progress far more smoothly. ...And he might not get burn markings all over his coat as a bonus. "I'm guessing you know a place? Or are we just choosing anywhere? Anything is better than out here, honestly." He didn't show it, but he was freezing. It was getting a little painful, honestly. He'd rather be anywhere right now as long as it wasn't even colder than here. Yet at the same time he was still lost in thought, it was impressive to be outside and inside one's mind so simultaniously, but he's running far less optimal sitting out in the bitter cold. "By the way, if you hold that coat any tighter, you'll cut off circulation." He states as an addendum, mostly in jest.
Flare just gave the hovercraft another final look and waved it off with her fiery hand. "Heh, I lied about the who sensitive parts freezing thing. He has good parts in him, he will remain functional in anything above absolute zero." A slight exaggeration. Flare had started to head down the street as he asked about the place in mind to eat. "Yeah, I know a place. Tell me, is curry a favorite of yours?" With eventuality the fires puffing off her hair had all but vanished until he cracked a little joke. She didn't so much get angry as become a little agitated.
"I'll cut off your circulation if you keep being smart with me, guy." Flare's hair caught alight again to a more mild degree. She would also give him a glance and a false smile as she kept going down the street, careful not to slip on anything. "Also the name's Flare. Yeah, didn't see that name coming did you? The little robot's name Jax as you may have heard. And, well. That's about it. I like my cars, but giving that LADD a name seems rather odd. Or giving any vehicle a name at all."
It wasn't going to be that long of a journey, as they round about the corner to meet a row of dome-shaped buildings. One of them was a nice shade of maroon with a large sign on the front, stating "Furry Curry" as the building's title. Flare walks right by it into a smaller yellow building named "Hurry Curry", where she takes a moment to look back at him. "We don't talk about that other one." She pointed a thumb at the first place mentioned and went on inside the hurry curry to be greeted with your average stop into a restaurant. The register employee behind a fairly small count next to another individuals dealing with tables. Being a walk in usually meant you had to wait on a busy night. Lucky for the two of them, this wasn't the case. Once she got the door open though, everything felt so much nicer. She let the fire in her hand go away as she embraced the room-temperature heat of the shop.
"Ahhh, yess." She said to herself as she put arms out to her side like she was taking it all in. She wouldn't waste too much time with it though as she properly stepped up next to where they'd get their table at.
"Curry? It's fine." he states...Not even about to ask what's wrong with "Furry Curry"
After they're seated, Ermine starts by telling the water he'll take "What she's having" and a cup of dark coffee. And soon follows this up by looking over at her. "So, it has to be asked. What exactly does this Scion look like? You said "little guy" earlier...Is it a child we're dealing with?" He looks out the window in silence, just watching the snow fall, once again finding himself deep in thought... "Might sound strange, but you don't have any enemies, do you? Someone that might have anything to gain from...Well, you know, kidnapping or even worse?"
With his coffee arriving before the meal, he decides to take a drink, it's bitter. Perfect for jogging the mind, that's the way he feels about it. "What reason would he have for leaving, if that's the case? Do you have any idea? Anything at all, even an assumption. A motive could help break everything wide open." He continues looking back outside, watching every single snowflake he can. It would take a slap to the face to break him out of something when he became so unusually focused. In a way...It reminded him of another case, so long ago, one of his first, in fact...But he failed that one...He couldn't solve it, no matter how hard he looked, no matter how much he went over clues and locations, they were no where to be found...
He hardly knows this girl, he's not going to get anything from taking this case, and yet, he wants to solve this, maybe out of regret for the past, maybe just to see it through, he didn't know the whole reason himself, but he'd only find out if he didn't give up. "...Let me ask you something." He comes out of his deep concentration to look her right in the eyes. "How far are you willing to go? To find Scion. Would you go anywhere, do anything, even if it meant running into danger or breaking the rules a little? If you're not okay with that, I can continue on looking on my own for you. But I had to make it clear, when I get involved with these kind of things, I'll do everything I can to close the book."He seemed dead serious about everything he just said, and while he was unsure it would actually be that dangerous, he knew any case could become his last. Whether it was or not, he'd see it through to the very end.

The seats were pretty mediocre at best. It was covered in oriental textures and patterns, the booths separated by the small folding walls of olden buildings. Though, inspecting it further would leave you to see that they just look that way, they weren't functional. Flare threw her coat off into the seat next to her and sat down firmly as the waiter come on around rather quickly to them. For orders... "I'll take the Caesar's special and a good bit of sweetened tea." Ermine's probably not going to know what she just ordered the two of them, the menu given to them had no such special on it. The waiter would take up these menues and come back with the drinks first, of course. Before answering the man she took a large sip of the tea and took a deep breath.
"He's a little man, balding. Around five feet two. Darker skin tone, he worked outside a lot." She would start off the description of the man with that. "He has a rigid face. Square chin, sharp cheeks, pointed nose. He has those old man wrinkles on his forehead. Wise man wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, and this Fu Manchu black-grey mustache. The thing had to be about half his size in length, it was quite the grown out facial hair." She took another sip of her tea and gave an 'ahh'. The elemi was just starting to get comfortable as she propped her legs up on the opposite seat, next to Ermine.
"Enemies? Not really. I'm told my biological parents are just some random soldiers out in space. My foster parents died of old age. Scion didn't have any rival dojo or any of that cliche crap. All of the people close to me practically raised me, I don't think my advisers would seek to tear me down. Not from what I've seen." The waiter was coming on back to the table with the large bowls and a pair of utensils. The bowls had steam rolling off them, hot out of the kitchen. One could could smell the herbs and STRONG amount of spices in each of them, especially when they were set in front of the two. She didn't recoil from the smell and simply smiled at it. Since, well, she remembered it.
"The only thing I liked about this city years ago was this little place here. Their spicy curry was on spot." She took a moment to look at the curry before digging right into the boiling broth and taking her bites of it. The chick didn't even hiss at the heat. "You might want to wait for yours, pretty close to boiling I'd say." Flare commented on it's temperature before straightening back into her seat. Her brows raise up at his last question, for that she didn't know. "If he's not on earth, and we don't have any clear indication on where he'd be off-planet, then fuck it. I don't care much about law, but I would rather you not have anything linked to me. Have that clear, guy? Last thing I want is to be wanted on my own planet." she pointed a finger at him with the last few sentences, frowning slightly. After coming into the heat and stuff she was feeling much better. Harder to irritate, flare up, and all that stuff.
"I don't know if Scion would have left, he just seems like he wouldn't want to just get up and leave us like that..." She took another gulp of her curry, scarfing it down unladylike. "But maybe you can tell me something that I can't figure out myself. That's what you're here for, eh?"
Ermine takes in the description carefully, running it over and over in his mind until he's sure he won't forget it, visuals always worked better for memorization, but a description wasn't impossible. "No enemies... Couldn't have been a faked note, then." He simply nods at her response to his last question, taking a drink of the coffee. ... And then calmly slides the bowl off to the side, staring at her with surprise as she eats what would cause anyone else severe pain at that temperature... "...How- Nevermind, I'm sure I don't need to know." It was likely pretty amusing to her, this was the first time through their entire meeting that he had shown any expression other than Calmness or disinterest.
"Space Soldiers, huh...Sounds all too familiar..." His expression changes once more, it just goes...Blank. He starts staring off past her, like he's in some kind of trance or something...It goes on for several minutes before he finally shakes his head, coming out of...Whatever that was. "I guess there are a lot of those. Don't know why it would be familiar to me, exactly. Maybe I'm confused." He thinks over her last statement carefully, he wouldn't exactly want to say something wrong here, but he had to make assumptions.
"Maybe he did want to leave? Everyone has their secrets, kid." ... Kid was probably not the right name to use, especially not when he knew an assumption like that might get her mad, but he had to make it, if he didn't look at all angles, he knew he could miss something, it wasn't anything personal. "Now don't take it the wrong way, I'm just trying to look at this from a way that might open it more. Maybe he did have a reason to leave, maybe it was to help you, somehow. If he's some kind of martial arts master, he's got to have some kind of hidden wisdom, cliche or not. Ir if he was really that old, maybe..." He shakes his head and stops himself at that last statement, he'd go as far as needed, but he wasn't going to be harsh if he could help it.
"My point is, if he has no known motive, we have to give him one, even if it's an assumption. Anything at all might at least point us in the right direction." He braces himself for an onslaught of her anger, it took her far less to be literally burning mad.

As predicted, the given reaction to her consuming scalding hot foods amused her enough to make her crack a smirk at him as he did it. She didn't go out with friends much, so having some random stranger boggle their mind around it even for a split second was satisfying. The fact he hadn't shown anything up to that point expression-wise was even more so. "Are you sure you don't want to know? It's actually pretty cool if you like science. Probably ONLY if you like science." She was pretty much devouring the still hot curry between her sentences, the thing had only been set out a minute agio and she was already down to half the bowl.
"If he wanted to leave, I had no indication of it. Maybe... he did. Also, call me a kid again and watch where this curry goes." Flare threatened the man with a tap on the bowl. She did run an entire company and inherited a sizable mansion, the least she could ask for was respect. Considered herself an adult among many others, not even a young one. She groaned at the cliche of what he was suggesting and rolled exaggerated eyes at Ermine. "You've got to come on with that. If this is some sort of exaggerated test then I'm going to have someone's neck for it. Because he'd be purposely ditching me." The elemi glanced away for a moment at the curry in front of her.
"We were planning on traveling across space some time soon. We had plans marked out and everything, and I was going to be using a space craft I helped craft. It was going to be so cool!" Probably just for her. The longer the two would talk, the more of a mechanical geek she sounded. "I mean, it was all set and ready to go almost when he vanished. If he's pulling some sort of trick, it's a mean one. So no, I have no clue on the motive. After we're done here I can let you look the place over, but I swear on the life of me nothing's to be seen. It's like he vanished and left no trace of himself." Flare looked back up at him with a bit of a frown. "You see what I mean here? It just... doesn't make sense to me why he'd just up and disappear like that."
He gives a small grin. "I'm guessing you don't like ice cream." He listens to her go on about her space ship and plans for adventure. "I can see how you'd manage to run an entire Engineering firm. Must be your passion." He considered it unprofessional to make small talk like he was, but he figured it was okay for now, no one is evaluating him or anything. Still, there wasn't a lot for him in space, personally. Too many bad memories, he couldn't exactly connect to her excitement on that front. He listens to the rest of her talk, thinking over the facts.
"I can give the place a look over. Can't promise I'll find anything, given what you're saying, but it's worth a shot." He slides his own bowl of curry over to her, watching how quickly she had nearly finished the stuff. "All I'm saying is, in three years of doing this, never has a disappeance not had any motive, regardless of party. People don't just wake up in the morning, get dressed and then cut ties with everyone. There's also no such thing as perfection." He takes another drink of the coffee. He'll have left something. We just have to find it.
He stands up from the booth, putting down enough money to cover their meals. I'll be waiting outside when you're ready to go to this..."House". The sooner I can get to work, the better. His statement might have sounded a little pushy to some, but he was merely trying to show his dedication to the work. He calmly walks out, waiting outside the cafe for her, he hated this cold, but maybe a quick change of temperature would knock something free in his mind, he thought to himself. Though what was there to "knock free"? She said it herself, this man had no reason to leave, from the sounds of it, they were planning something, why would he just drop it all and vanish? Cold feet? Something far more serious? It was going to take deep work to figure this one out, if there was any chance of that at all.
As much as she knew she couldn't find out for herself, he was right; There's no such thing as perfection. There's no such thing as a man walking away from everything without reason. She was going to say more, ask more, but... he just left her the other bowl and some money and strolled off. "Eh?" She'd say as he walked off, just eyeing the bowl for a moment before shrugging and deciding instead to just finish off her meal as fast as she could on a hungry stomach and get out to pay. So Flare got her coat back on and went over to the register. She wasn't going to stall and take her time if he wasn't. That's not how she worked.
After giving paying what she had to, the young woman stepped out of the shop with a hand full of change ready to Ermine. The sudden rush of cold hit her like a truck, but she wasn't going to show it was actually hurting her. She instead nudged against the man hard with her fist and offered the money before raising her other hand to make some fire again. "Here's your change, Ermy." The name came out of nowhere, really. "Now let me see... we should be heading somewhere on down the way we were headed before we stopped here." She was already started down said way by the time she finished saying that.
The way on over to the house she mentioned was a more time consuming feat. Unlike their first little walk they would have to cross a few more sections and turn a few more corners. The young elemi nearly slipped once along the way, but she had enough balance to keep from slipping on her butt. If she didn't tell him they were coming up to a house he probably would have thought it was a business HQ. The large building had several stories to it, and it seemed to be active with a few people slipping in and out of its entrance. Flare would stop right in front of it and look up at the building. Blinking red eyes at it as she seemed caught in thought.
"Well... It's in here somewhere. Scion thought it'd be a good idea to bring some of his students, me included, to his work to teach us something more than just martial arts. He hasn't been here since he disappeared, so his job did sort of go under here. I convinced the ones in charge to keep his place on hold, so his stuff should still be here." With any luck, at least. The entrance to the building slid open for her as she started walking through it to get on inside. Just like before she dropped the fire as the warm heating of the inside would be far enough to make her not want to just set things on fire in order to stay cold. It was a large lobby area with a half-circle counter. it was bustling with various people, coming in and through doorways and halls. Everything looked white and clean too. Yup, this was it. The city's clinic.
Flare walked on up to the counter in front of someone and started talking to the clerk behind it. "Hey, I'm here for a Dr. Scion. He's not in, I know, but I'm his pupil and I requested earlier today that I could look in his office due to his absence." The clerk just blinked at her as she was also in the middle of conversing with someone that was already in line.
"Oh, yes. You know where his office is?" The clerk was fully ready to give direction, but... it didn't seem called for as the fiery lady started walking off the moment she had said yes.
"Well, come on guy. We don't have all day." She made sure he kept up as she lead past the counters to the nearest hallway to their right. Room, after room, after room. Hallways branching off from hallways; but no. They stopped pretty close from where they entered, a simple right at the first door. Labeled "Dr. Scion" on the name plate next to the door. The room inside was pitch black from the window view. The elemi went ahead and opened shop for the two of them. The switch was flipped to reveal a small room with one guest chair, a doctor's roll chair, and of course a diagnostics chair. A few cabinets lined the sides, and it had the cleanliness look that the rest of the clinic. Flare gave the whole place a look for a moment and just opened her arms wide at the room.
