Training.
Outside of the progress with her allies, it was something she hadn't done for herself in quite some time. Each and every fight that she was dragged into, might have helped her grow in power just a bit, but it was hardly something as noticeable as being able to feed on the blood of the powerful.
Though anyone even close to her power, were likely to feel the same kind of halting progress in growth of power, no matter what being they were. One which was obvious enough to wonder whether or not they could get even stronger at all. Something that only advanced scouters would be able to reveal.
For quite some time she had felt that way, doubting the idea that she could really grow beyond the strength she currently held. It didn't matter knowing that she hadn't reached Caesar's level of power before, or that she wasn't the strongest fighter in this universe. Others being able to surpass her, hadn't mean her own lack of progress, wasn't indication this was the most a Vampire could reach. But as it had recently turned out, she had been pleasantly wrong.
To be given this kind of power by the Queen of Demons, and far exceed what she once had, proved so well that Vampires were able to continue growing in power. That there wasn't some kind of limit, and like the Saiyans and other beings, they had the potential of becoming so much more than what they knew.
The transformation that she had unlocked recently, something she called False God, knowing she had yet to reach the power of the King of Saiyans, was one example of what further power must have been waiting. There might have been a limit to this form, but it was nothing that sheer power couldn't overcome.
For some people, that line of thinking might have been too simple and on the nose, to just assume that through training, she could get used to a form that powerful. But there was no reason to believe otherwise, knowing the body could be conditioned to be used to more mundane things like lifting.
Although like most things, only time would be able to tell for sure. With someone of her power, that was something that could be dulling, as strength for a Vampire typically meant caring much less about how and when it was used. Things in life seemed more repetitive, and she wasn't quite convinced that she might not already be insane, even knowing that she was still able to think and hold feelings. There had yet to be a complete emptiness within her.
But it might as well have been another matter of time, wouldn't it? To become the strongest in this universe, was one of the things that she was still able to desire chasing. Everything else that was beyond that, were the kind of things that she rarely gave thought to, knowing others deserve priority.
It might wind up keeping her busy for several decades, but nothing could better hold her interest other than power. She was naturally attracted to the idea of having it for herself, and it was the desire of power that had turned her and so many others into accepting the transition into a Vampire in the first place. What blood magic was inside of her, would only continue to better shape itself to her will, the stronger that she got. Make her sustain better.
There were downsides to possessing this kind of power, and while she couldn't see it ever leveling itself out, it wasn't a choice that she would say she regretted. All of the beings that she had met, while she would have believed she could have been a better one, had constantly proven they tended to be nothing more than hybrids of some other race. The idea of purity would only continue to be nothing more than a legend with time, though it was truly only through consistency, would she ever consider other beings to be the better of her kind. They simply had an advantage over Vampires through lack of secrecy.
But she would go on to change that like a lot of things. It was more than possible, if she really was near the power of the King of Saiyans. Not many people would be able to really challenge her, and it was only the annoyances that came with trying to assert that on others, which prevented her from doing so many things. Culture for certain planets and the norm of their own beliefs, wasn't something which outsiders would be able to easily change without force.
It was what made having both power, and a conquered planet something of value. Those who she wanted dead, and would be defenders, she'd have the full right to kill however she wanted. There might have been some things she and Capsule Corp employees were going to have to grasp within the space community, but if a race of brutes like the Saiyans were able to live on Namek without issues, it was far less complex than anything that Earth dealt with when it came to contractual obligations. Especially since she had alien allies that felt as if Earth placed more value in 'paper' than they really should have.
When she and the others had first came to this planet, measures were taken to ensure that they could do better with their invasion, that the East City refugees hadn't. Interaction with the natives had been barred, and while there might have been suspicion, the Kold Demons were rather obvious of the idea that if they couldn't visibly see any underlying issues, then it was better off ignoring it. Something that remained until their recent public claim.
Prior to that the only thing that was out of place had been her Majin ally's own presence and house to live in, while plans had been discussed so it could go in motion. So many things were already changing with their claim to this planet, as capsule houses and mansions were placed on vacant land.
Those that were her own were kept close to the Royal Palace, although they were rather spread out as they really should be. The problem that needed to be worked on, was getting individuals to properly oversee view of the land, and accurately judge the topography. With the planned cities she had in mind to build, distance was going to play a big role in the future, but it all started with making sure that things were understood with the natives, among other things. Days had already past since her first lesson with the Kold Demon she knew, had showed her a few of the techniques she thought she mimicked well.
It was time that she spent continuing to practice, taking in what she had observed for herself, and making numerous attempts trying to get used to what was meant to be the right approach to things. Although the mocking by the natives had played a role in having her practice the style correctly, it wasn't her entire reason. Something of that sort was too simple to really desire and persist. What had really drew her into refining what she had mimicked, lied in her newfound power. She had gotten so strong, and held such renewed confidence, which she could still feel even now, that there were changes that were needed.
Looking forward to the future. It was the kind of thinking that she found herself repeating after waking with her new power, feeling exhausted about all of the things she hadn't been able to do. There was a lot, and things she meant to get to with time, if not for all of the issues around her that could arise.
Peace wasn't something which she could really see the universe having. Planets tended to get attacked, and someone who Earth's defenders or the Remnant Saiyans had never met, might wind up popping out of the blue, going around throwing claims that could be easily countered. Their presence wasn't something established at all, and yet they felt as if they could go above and beyond what individuals like her, had already built up for themselves.
The deceased Queen of Earth had been one of these examples. Someone who found themselves in a fortunate position, although who didn't really bat much of an eye at power, from what she remembered of the girl. The fact that she didn't back down from the idea of leading just as well made her difficult.
If someone like that, whose existence she had never knew, could just up and show, then there were surely others as well. She herself had been that kind of individual, although she managed to find her own hold within the universe, and the kind of security that came with having people who worked for her.
To look forward to the future, she needed to actually focus on what she was able to do in a reasonable amount of time. Her days as a new Vampire had her researching ways to counter both hybrids and full-bloods, the techniques with this style covering both long and close range. It might have seemed like a simple style, but the approach to it, and its reliance on her own speed and power, was what had separated it from someone who wasn't trained.
There was a certain kind of intention behind her blows, and her speed had only gotten faster and faster, the more she had to really use greater power. With speed, it was easy to reason just why she figured it would counter just about everything that she had run into. That there might not have been a need to learn any other styles that weren't of her own creation. Fighting the same way as her allies, wasn't something that she had really counted as mastering it.
She borrowed their techniques and made up for lacking certain qualities through substitution, each of their techniques, she knew had their own way of doing things, which her mimicking led her to believe was accurate. Not something that was perfect, but it actually was enough to get the point across.
While she might have still been confident in her own abilities however, and the commentary on the flaws with her mimicking had been opportunistic, her decision to actually learn the style properly came from the idea of advantage. The techniques she came up with was meant to overpower an enemy through speed and what strength that she had. To try and find someone that could hold a candle to her, was meant to be something that would be difficult.
Most people would be dead if they had even tried to go up against her. Especially knowing they were capable of not batting an eye to a charging attack nearly at its limit. The style that the Kold Demons had, like any other beings and their own way of fighting, wasn't anything necessarily special.
What made her own and theirs distinguishable were the approaches to how they fought. Something that wasn't just observable, as it also relied on what the person was capable of doing. While she had already been mimicking her allies, former or not, as close as she could when it came to fighting, the chance to be even better was something that would have been a mistake to pass on. Rather than being needed, practicing in another style was more so a backup.
While her own techniques had been meant to overpower an opponent, and kill if she had really wanted to, it was still only destruction that it caused. Something meant for others to fear and back down against. But the Kold Demons, from what she knew of them, weren't like that with their techniques at all.
There was a relaxed approach to their fighting, and the kind of build up so different from her own. Though the kind of damage to the planet had recovered since the Kold that she knew had killed off the refugees from East City, she knew the power put into their best techniques were meant to destroy a planet in its entirety. Something which her own had the potential of at its best, but there was a great difference in concentration between these two.
That was what made it an advantage to master a style that wasn't just her own. Coming close had always been good enough for her, because things had worked out due to having a higher power than most through training. Though it wasn't something she'd really keep following, knowing she'd have the time to do more of what she couldn't before, now that a big part of what she dreamt of, was in the process of being completed. Owning a planet brought on so much potential.
The techniques that she had been showed, she had continued to practice in the palace, since learning what the proper ways were meant to be. And the more she had, the more it started to become clear to her just what it took to really master the style. It had been nearly two years since she had claimed independence from her old coven, and there had been too many events since then, not to have gotten a feel of both her own fighting, and others.
One of the things that she had noticed about the Kold Demon's way of fighting, is that as an attack had reached a target, the force was powerful enough to expel the kind of useful burst that could be an advantage. Her own mimicking had previously only slammed more into her targets, putting as much of her power as she had really could have. Although thinking back to the Queen of Demons back in West City, made it another reason it might not have been good to do that. That woman managed to charge up an ample amount of power, with no one stopping it from increasing. The cause for it could have easily been because people were spread out, though she saw now it could be reasonable enough to build up power at this level of strength, knowing it wouldn't waste much energy.
Like some days prior, she had met the alien she knew in the throne room. The place had managed to sustain the damage from misfires of their last session, but it had also helped that neither of them had gone beyond their base forms. Something that continued to remain the same as they faced each other.
"Word going around is that you're actually managing to make a difference with your imitations. Delightful. Any more time trying to figure it out, and the others would wonder how you've bested me."
"When you're capable of taking down others in short fashion, you get used to doing exactly that. Sustaining some damage will hardly be a casualty."
It was a clear insult, but one which she had returned, although in a fashion that held more truth to it, than exaggeration. Greater power than her opponent allowed herself to handle and dish out what she needed to overcome them, and even if she had sustained damage one blood flask would fix that.
There were several of it that she nearly always kept on her, although with how times were changing, she was more than better off possibly condensing the blood she needed into clear pills rather than flasks. The idea of her currently using the latter, had mostly came from Caesar anyhow. His blood had been an addiction with how powerful it tasted, yet hadn't benefited her much of all. Something which the Queen of Demons had easily been able to outclass.
"We'll see how you fare today. There's still mistakes with your form."
A 'tch' sound had came from the alien's lips, her tail visibly swishing behind in what she assumed to be mild annoyance, before the Kold Demon had rushed forward. The way the alien had moved was very visible, rather than just blinking out of sight from a large amount of effort in trying to go fast.
Simple strikes was what she had expected coming towards her, as she made a move to counter it with her own power, only to find that the Kold Demon had suddenly flared her power until the aura was visible. Their last session had been all filled with just punches and kicks all around at her body, but this surprise was something that completely ignored what they had started out with, and what she had knew. All she could do was block the multiple attempts that came at her, trying to strike towards her gut. Something which she knew the alien might wind up switching to other points of her body, if allowed to.
Creating a gap was difficult without trying, and she found herself going back to using sheer force to do so, all while enduring the pain that came from the alien. They were relatively close in power at their base, which is what made it possible in the first place, that these hits were something she could feel, rather than slight stings against someone weaker. On top of everything as well, she was supposed to be aware of what she was doing wrong with her mimicking.
"It's really short work figuring things out you know. Although I won't give a chance to explain just yet."
Recovering from the energy exerted with all of those attempted punches, the Kold Demon had fired off multiple of what she recognized to be their death beam attacks. They were numerous and much faster than what she had been showed days before, and countering with her own style, rather than the alien's, she could tell they were also more powerful. Her fists had punched away at the beams, the force and power sending the attacks right back at the Kold Demon.
Although a couple had managed to slip through, filling her body with another round of pain. The way being hurt had always made the feeling of it linger on her, until her mind had been taken off of the feeling, it was the very thing which she didn't usually feel much of anymore. The stronger one got, the less painful that things seemed to be, unless she was fighting against people close to her power. But that new transformation, it just burnt away any pain.
"I see you're still taking after that Supidoan. It certainly works out, though you're still lacking in areas."
Mimicking the former ally that she had dismissed and knew to still be on this planet, it was true that the alien's way of fighting had suited her. Both the speed and force within his techniques came naturally to her, being a Vampire, and more so than the more relaxed approach the Kold Demons seemed to have.
She placed as much power as she could have into an attack before firing it, usually taking damage as a result, which was something she tended to make up for. While the alien here managed to also be quick in their own way, although carefully made attempts to counter what they really could have.
The only thing she could think of that was being suggested to her here, was not being able to overpower the technique that came at her. Though the alien still got hit by their own attacks regardless. She used the chance to create more distance between them, bracing herself for whatever could come next, with the way that the Kold Demon seemed to be introducing things this session. She was right about not allowing her time to really think much.
But maybe that was just the problem. This wasn't a style that she was used to, knowing it went against her method for speed and upmost power. But she was trying to relax herself in the same manner, taking opportunities to still also use her own style or other techniques, whenever the chance had come up.
"Knowing what you're capable of, this one will be lacking. I do hope you've managed to see your flaws with what you've been shown however."
The next sudden rush at her, had came in the form of a blast of purple energy, although one that didn't come from an arm being raised or anything. It was telekinetic like their last section, but like some of what she had already saw today, was contrary to what she had knew. Visibility seemed to be a common pattern today, one which began with seeing the Kold Demon's aura flare, and these different attacks coming one after the other, rather than working up to it. They definitely seemed like they were taking less time than before, which wasn't something she minded, knowing how much work she could do on her own.
Taking the alien's attack, she could feel a heavy force weighing against her, and the way it was doing so, she was reminded of that swordsman's gravity attack. This type of technique, it didn't matter how strong someone like her could be. Its intentions could be felt no matter what, and for the moment it as striking at her, that was all she had felt. But it was this pain that made it easier to think back, however faint, to that feeling of adrenaline.
Once she had a grasp on that feeling it became much easier to bear the pain, as she started feeling adrenaline instead. This technique could have easily kept her immobile, but it was her own persistence, and behind the scenes the blood magic within her, that kept her able to continue moving around.
This was what the alien had meant by what she was capable of. The Kold was trying to immobilize her, beyond giving her pain, but she was fortunate enough to handle it all. Everything that she was shown today so far, she did believe that she understood what the alien was referring to. It wasn't something she'd give an answer to otherwise. The alien wasn't surprised at all to see her overcome the attack, pushing away the blast of energy and making it into nothing.
That swish of the tail, said more to her just how much the Kold Demon was still able to relax among all of this. They might not have really fought much today, but the peak of exhaustion was something she did aim for when it came to these kind of sparring sessions. Her rush forward was equally met by the alien's own, as she began to put what was shown to her today all together. The aura flare and strike to the gut was the first and most obvious to do.
"Well from what I've seen today, your style isn't all just a relaxed nature. I'd say it's because some of these techniques see the light of day as you suppress less of your power. Things become more visible, and seem to start heading towards my way of fighting."
"You might have bested me more times than I'd like, but I'd refrain from lumping these techniques as something common."
Through a combination of faking out the idea of targeting other points of the body first, she had managed to strike within the gut of the alien, whose own response seemed much more like it was getting impatient. It was what she had wanted to see, as she distanced herself, the Kold Demon going on to use more death beams, which were only countered by her own. Being the stronger one, that had also overpowered the alien and struck at her, although she was getting the feeling that it wasn't something that was an issue here. These attacks that she was being shown, it wasn't something that she had really seen.
The Kold Demon, even in their public fight, had only stuck to simple strikes, rather than any flaring of auras, which is what made it all surprising she was getting to know some of these things so well. It was certainly something she was sure the alien didn't really show off unless there was a real need to.
"You've already made sure that wasn't the case yourself. It would have helped much earlier."
A telekinetic blast, which she started to mimic through expelling ki rather than focusing with her mind, could have been the sneak attack she had needed with certain events in the past. The West City had came to mind, knowing she could suppress her own energy before actually launching out with it.
When it came to fighting in this way, there was likely going to be few things distinguishing her expelling of ki, to the way that this technique was supposed to be naturally done, since both required focus. Although she could still feel the difference coming from her own energy rather than the mind.
The Kold Demon had managed to dodge her attack this time, but also released one. This approach to fighting was still very much something she'd need to get used to, since all of her techniques consisted of making what she borrowed better through speed and force of her strength. Although she still find it worth learning, rather than abandon. There must have still been a few more things she hadn't yet seen from the alien, but what she saw today would work out fine.
She took the strikes head on, bracing herself with her arms as the pain had hit at her, before she had suddenly forced the alien away, a single hand being held out as she blasted the Kold Demon. Natsumi's technique was precise in its own way, and feeling done with this whole session, it got the point across.
Distance was created between her and the alien again, but the sound of their own gasped breaths had came first before anything else. She was the one still standing, visibly beaten in places, but the Kold Demon was even more so despite what caution was taken, due to their gap in power still making a difference.
"This was less annoying than before, but I'd still say things could be quicker. Fortunately for you, what's left will be the end of things. Although this room won't do."
Picking herself up, the alien had briefly gritted her teeth before speaking, bringing to attention just how different their forms were, when they were actually at their weakest. Small but also young looking transformations, which made it all the more impressive what kind of power they held.
Being commentary, it wasn't something she needed to answer beyond a nod, which the alien was more than willing to accept, as she left with a quick wave. There was still the heat from their own energy within the air, as she got a hold of herself and sat down on the throne, her eyes closing.
This here still wasn't something she was used to either. It was so apparent how big this building was, and still yet remained to be the largest property she had owned. She thought it was questionable wanting to own something like this back on Earth, knowing how often that invasions had happened, and the repairs that would be needed with something worth so much. But this was her own planet, and although she couldn't yet see this as her primary residence, it was only a matter of time before she'd be able to settle within here. The others were still residing in her mansion at the moment, but she had also needed them here.
There was a certain loneliness having this kind of moment for herself, and that was something she didn't want to get used to.
