Life had been a drifting passing upon earth thus far. Only a few special meetings from here or there. But nothing turning up much opportunity as of late. This place was more peaceful that other corners of the galaxy but it still didn't feel welcoming or belonging. It still wasn't a home which left a void within the hardened chest of the small green warrior. His clothes kept him warm and safe from the elements. His power and skill with his weapons kept him full from the hunt and protected. But feeling unwelcome in most the cities even if not forced out with violence as well as being over taken by the loneliness of the wastes when surviving alone. This safe place slowly became a source of rather severe loneliness. The kind loneliness that kept him moving as well as exploring. His feet were pushed to keep moving as he planned to discover and learn more as he went to try and fill the gnawing void inside him. His kind could survive in some of the most worst of conditions and environments. So wondering the wastelands wasn't nearly as perilous to him as it may have been to other organic beings.
The horizon carried with it a warm sun bringing heat down upon him as he wondered the wastelands and what little green plains there was as well from time to time. Wiping his brow free of sweat with his forearm before taking a drink of cool water from his canteen secured to his hip. The water skin didn't have much left but he didn't need much so he tried not to let it worry him to much. Chewing on some dried jerky as well he pulled from his bag as he kept going further west as his sandals kicked up light dust from the dried earth bellow his feet. His claw toes sometimes poking out and cutting into the dried earth bellow.
He'd caught sight of it three nights prior, Something that didn't quite seem right sticking out upon the horizon truly a long venture away from the last known civilization he was aware of. A tower that seemed to stretch into the sky into the very clouds and stars above. There was something about it that drew him in and tickled at his curiosity. Crimson eyes looking upon it with awe as it was a unnatural marvel. This planet was filled with so much life and possiblity compared to the barren bleak expanse of most of the galaxy. But here things wondered him and had his small heart racing with excitement in moments like this.
It would take nearly half the day even on this day before he finally came upon what this marvel was or at least what portion of it was actually visible. A stone structure, a pillar that seemed to stretch to the very heavens above. His small green hand lightly rubbed along its surface, The cold stone textured with various markings of a style he had not seen before. Something about felt almost peaceful as well as eased his mind. This place felt calm in the most earnest of ways. He drew in a deep breath of cool air looking up wondering what mystery such a thing held. Its height to far for him to fly. He had trouble covering long distances with flight alone and usually kept his journeys as such to short ventures. His exploration.
He took some time exploring the surrounding area but found little of relevance or interest at least at first. It was only with some light exploration that he found not that far off was a small settlement of people. But not like the cities and structures of metal and stone. This was a more simple place with a people that while were just as startled by his initial encounter did not resort to harsh words or violence. It was only after a short introduction as well that he was able to sit with them as well for a time. Huddling close to a warm fire as elders told stories to the young while others were out hunting for the day. Conversation about wondering the lands of this planet, as well as the hunting around the area eventually faded as before long he'd ask the welcoming people the marvel that truly held his attentions captive.
"Such a thing, It stands so vastly tall it seems impossible it should remain standing. But it feels... Its hard to put words too. Or if their is a word for it in your tongue I do not know of it." He'd say calmly speaking to a old Chief. Or so at least the main claimed was his title. It sounded regal enough so he assumed this was some claim to power among these simple peaceful people. He drank lightly after speaking from a cup they'd offered him with some home brewed alcohol in it. The taste already warming his cheeks and body. His water skin had been filled as well and he already felt a little sad for how kind they'd been to him. Wishing he had more of a way to repay the kindness.
"It is a ancient place, We guard these lands and this place from those that would seek to harm it or bring destruction. In these times great evil's and darkness often linger not far off." He'd say in a deep voice that carried a few years on it as well as wisdom. Saibacus had nodded agreeing that darkness was never far off. There were people that would kill him simply for being himself. People that would see him as a monster and crush him. Even to people other then him the galaxy had a way of being cruel and cold to those that lived in it. Only a few safe places among the stars served as beacons to the good souls that still tried to keep the light of peace alive. This place must have been one of them and these people such guardians.
"Does it hold a purpose? It seems... Hmm it just seems to pull you in when you look at it." He asked curiously his arms almost aching at the mere sight of it at the idea of trying to find out what it held at the top of its most hidden heights. The clouds like veils of shadow hiding secrets beyond their puffy curtains. His crimson eyes occasionally looked from the chief's eyes back to the tower. "Hahaha, A sentiment shared by many souls of the past. But its the spirit that needs to be strong to truly listen to that call." He'd say calmly sipping his own cup of special drink Saibacus doing the same in kind. Some of the smaller children around the fire or around the camp smiling at him as the tension began to ease more and more as it became clear he was of no harm to them. Smiling faces was something he almost found harder to get used to then the harsh words of the cruel.
"It is a thing of power as well as thing of measurement of ones spirit and resolve. For as long as any can remember or have recorded. Those of the strongest will and resolve would come to this place and climb this great vigil. The tower leading them to knowledge and wisdom normally reserved for only the most courageous and pure hearted of people. This place usually draws heroes in a way of speaking to it. Most who have clouded hearts and minds do not realize what this place means and simply forsake it as a tower among the trees in the wastes. Some care little for such wonders and only seek the riches of the more material world forsaking things such as these." He'd say with a lightly saddened voice as the wrinkled face of the man took in a deep breath and took a moment of silent reflection before taking another drink from his cup to wet his parched throat.
"Have many made their way up it? Has it happened often?" He'd say lightly raising his brow. Curious as well as captivated by the man's words and story. Even for a old man his words carried a power and wisdom of them of a truly powerful man. He finished his drink and placed his cup next to him upon the grass. The old man doing the same and giving a nod to a woman not far off that came by and refilled his cup. Offering the same to Saibacus but to which he declined. The warming lightly relaxing sensation running through his body was enough already. He didn't wish to push it further.
"Many? No. But a few yes, A few special chosen individuals have come to pass here in recent years. Some have become lost since then but some still linger. We were in fact added by the man known as Galen. A true savior and pure of heart swordsmen that came in at time of need and once upon time could be found upon the heights of this tower. If he still wonders the planet or ventures its heights though I cannot say. We have not seen him in many moons. But his spirit is strong and remains with us. Just as many great souls do that made their way on such a journey." A light smile came to his lips briefly as he remembered such a time.
"He helped you?" He asked curiously but also simply enough. Prodding lightly more into the story of what the man meant. The Chief taking another drink of his freshly refilled cup showing a stronger tolerance for its like then Saibacus held. Licking his lips lightly after tasting it calmly and continuing his tale. "Yes, When we were in danger he came like a guardian of light. He saved us from great dangers at great risk of his own asking so little in return. He was one of the few that ventured that path who truly had a heart that understood what was right and wrong. A free soul that knew was was good." A soft nod being made as the fire and drink warmed the old mans frail body and bones. Saibacus seemed to think lightly on this though. The idea of a person or perhaps people that sought out injustice as well as helped those in great need. A kind of people upon hearing about them made him wish more such beings were found expanded among the stars. "You have a heavy heart, Such pain is hard to bare but easy for me to see. It pains many in this life... You are free to rest among us if you wish for a time. If other ideas take you..." He'd say as his eyes lifted turning slowly to the tower gazing upon it briefly. "I ask you think carefully on what you may decide. An whatever you do decide put all you have into it." He'd say simply enough as he spoke the last of his words. The old man appearing weary in need of rest as he spent a few more minutes near the fire before eventually retiring to his tent shortly later that evening.
They shared no more words but Saibacus did think on what was said to him. A fire lightly beating beneath his breast as he wondered on such stories he'd been told this day. As well as the sort of people it inspired him to imagine. It wasn't long before the day began to end as others returned from their hunts. Meal's were had which Saibacus was kindly offered some food as well. While some still held... reserved manners around him. They were all kind and accepting all the same. It allowed his mind and body to relax and ease more here then he'd been able to in a long time. They reminded him of the kind Namekian souls that were light years away now. He was given a blanket by a kind soul as he sat near the fire even as eventual night came upon them. Slowly one by one the families that were near the area of this tribe retiring to their tents. He sat with the blanket over his shoulders keeping the cool air that came with teh night away as slowly the great fire burned away into mere ash and cinder.
It was only later in the great silence that he'd finally risen. His blanket left outside the tent of the woman that had offered it to him folded neatly upon the ground. His pack strapped to his pack as well as his weapons to which he'd kept near the edge of the village not wanting to accidental provoke any dangerous reactions. A small sword, dagger and trident secured to his bag filled with what supplies and belongings he had. What he wasn't wearing was in or strapped to his bag. Once again just as the morning before his clawed little grin hand softly placed upon the stone pillar that tempted the idea of heroes and true soul up high. Its wonder far more now then when he'd first seen it those four days ago now in the distance. His heels lightly dug into the ground as he crouched ever so lightly as a glint appeared in his crimson eyes. With a exertion of tremendous energy he leaped into the air soaring up into the air from the exertion of strength. Flinging himself into the clouds before after a few seconds throwing his claws out and latching onto the side of the pillar. his claws weren't able to dig into the material but they were able to more easily find traction and grip upon the carved surface of the stone then perhaps normal fleshy fingers could have.
So far very little of value had come his way and life had been hard for as long as he could remember. He'd made due tho and lived his life becoming stronger and searching the world for justice or light where he could find it. Perhaps it made such a place as this to hard to pass up. His spirit pushing him take the leap as he began to claw his way up now along its surface. Wondering what true mysteries awaited him at its peek.
