Chapter Two: Association
Even the sound of dust hitting the rock's edge couldn't break his thoughts.
Why did he have to be the one to go on this hunt with the outsider. They were just a merc, someone hoping to get a good hire when none of them could afford it. Anima and myself would have been able to handle this hunt perfectly fine as usual. We were getting used to the trials of the hunt already. We've been bring back plenitudes of food for the village as of late. Even if the prey seemed more scarce than they usually were. They never assumed much of it, no matter where they went, they would still be easier than others to gather and hunt for the villagers. Still, it could be worse he supposed, at least this wasn't one of the lazier bums back at the village.
As they would approach further into the dust lands of the south of the village, Sine would be wearing a heavier set outfit, more meant to protect against the harsh sun over keeping one warm. His pack carried a plenitude of capsules storing water bottles, some camping gear as well was stored inside. He was prepared if this trip was going to take a couple of day. Though he would have to admit, the excessive amount of water he held in the capsules was partially due to the Rana with him. He knew the sun would be much harsher on them compared to him in this kind of environment. He may be focused more on the task at hand, but that didn't mean he was uncaring about the well being of his temporary partners. Quite the opposite in fact, wouldn't be any different if it was one of his friends back at the village.
As he leaned down to the dirt, he would begin running the tracks of the dino they were chasing down. The size of these tracks showed it being a large one. That was for certain, it would mean plenty of meat for the village for quite a while. "Come on...This way, we should get somewhere with easy cover before night hits. You do not want to be out here when the temperature drops.", the saiyan would begin to say as he continued his path forward. Every now and again however, looking back to make sure the merc was still following. He didn't want to not hold an eye on them at the least. You never could know when it came to them, whether their intentions were to actually help, or rather more malicious reasons. Either way, his Master told him to keep guard at all times...

Keeping wasn't too troublesome as she let a small snort force from her flat nostrils. Her fin like ears flexing and moving lightly to the surrounding sounds of nature and the world around them. Her yellowish gaze watching around her as her flat nostrils catching a little scent in the air. She wasn't one for the more old style ways of hunting. She was used to using force and brute tactics like that of a explosive mercenary to get what she wanted in both the normal and dangerous aspects that came with life.
Her boots popping the occasional twig or small bit of dried grass and leaves as she approached the other boy probably around the same age as she was. "A little bit of cold never bothered me none, But I do share the sentiment of rather getting it done sooner then later." Giving al light chuckle with a curved grin that twisted up one side of her face. Licking her lips lightly as her razor like teeth briefly came into view. Stretching her shoulders briefly allowing her armor to stretch and adjust lightly for a couple of moments. "I doubt they're too far out... We could probably get to them if we pick up the pace a hair." Her eyes watching in distance in directions Sine didn't watch. Their eyes keeping a line of sight on their full surroundings this way.

Admittedly, this was both Jack's least favorite yet most favorite part of the day at the same time.
On one hand, Jack wasn't a fan of hurting or killing anything. He understood that he was simply doing what he had to in order to survive, and always made sure to pay the proper respects to the animals that he had to kill, whether that be in a proper burial for their bones, or in a special piece of clothing that he made from their hide. It just felt right, which admittedly was ironic for the young boy, given both his demon and Saiyan blood coursing through him. Not that he really considered himself one or the other, instead feeling much more of a mix of the two. Which, of course, given his appearance and young mind, only meant that he was a dragon warrior, of course! Or...a dragon Saiyan? Or...
Thinking about this too much hurt his head.
On the other hand, his Saiyan blood surged at the thought of the hunt. The adrenaline, the battle, claiming victory and his reward of warm, cooked meat after a long day, along with the potential of new clothing...it gave what the Saiyan people of his village know as 'The Hybrid' a reason for living. That's all it was to him. Work, fight, clean, eat, sleep, rinse and repeat, every day. It kept a nice sense of order to the young boy, who looked like he was about 13 in both looks and height, even though he was a few years older than that.
The boy trudged through the blazing hot desert alone. He wore only a pair of leather pants and boots, of course made from animal hide. It was surprisingly clean looking, as if the boy knew at to curate the hide and weave it together into coverage. Aside from that, he only wore a pale, fur cloak, the hood over the boy's head, covering his fluffy, white hair and the majority of his face. This, along with him knowing how to keep his tension low so that he couldn't be detected, helped him blend in with the sandy environment, this not being nearly the first time the boy has been out here hunting. The stronger, bigger monsters roamed in these lands...and that meant more leather and meat and bones for tools and food.
He kept his white, dragon-like tail around his waist like a belt, and his wings were neatly folded behind his back, so they didn't leave more than a small hunchback-looking bump on his back. As for tools, he had a makeshift spear holder slung over his shoulder and on his back, holding about 5 wooden spears, and, on his actual belt, he had 2 bone-carved knives on either side of him. He didn't use these for much actual combat, but as distractions and carving tools. It made for easy kills, usually, once he throws a spear at full power, but he knew to be careful about it. Somehow...people could sense his pressence when he used more of his battle power. It was weird, but Jack knew he could do it as well. He just supposed they were enhanced senses, or something.
He knelt down, feeling the track of a rather large beast that he was hunting. Admittedly, he already planned on anonymously giving the majority of the meat to the nearby village, as he often did whenever he was near one, but he did plan on taking the leather and bones for himself, along with a hefty portion of the meat that would keep him well-fed. The boy exhaled through his nose, getting a bit annoyed with himself for letting the beast get so far. Because of that, for a split moment, his power skyrocketed to it's max, but only for that moment, before Jack cleared his head and lowered it back down. He doubted that anyone, or anything, would have noticed, but he REALLY needed to get a handle on how annoyed he got for smaller mistakes.
He shook his head, and continued following the trail. He knew that he would likely need to find a spot to make camp for the night, but he personally would rather try to make as much progress as possible. Little did he know, of course, that another duo was also hunting the beast, though they were likely a decent ways behind him. How will The Hybrid handle this encounter, should it happen..? Only time would tell. WC: 758 TWC:752 Thread PL: 1163

Chapter Two: Association
Confidence was many things, sometimes it could be good, sometimes bad.
If the mercenary felt confident that they would be fine, he wouldn't be the one to push the subject further than he would need to. All he had wished to do was to offer the suggestion just in case. One could never know when it came to these sandy lands. They were known to best even the strongest of wills sometimes. Everything was all good and fine until the last drop of water felled. Till the sun hits the ground and the temperatures drop dramatically. The time the truly venomous creatures came out to play. The mercenary may be strong enough to withstand their poisons, but he wasn't one himself to put that to the test. These creatures could survive out in these lands for a reason. He for one wasn't willing to find out exactly why they were able to manage to do so.
They were lucky to have found these tracks when they had managed to however. Being able to follow these deep of trails would at least save them a couple hours of walking. It was times like these that made him wish he knew how to fly. Still, that didn't mean walking didn't have its own benefits. It would be nice to see some of the landscape after all. New places to start building forward camps for hunting trips in the future after all. That alone would give the trip some purpose at the very least. Even if they failed to catch anything on this trip. He could always come back in the future and catch the strays that would run the paths. There was always steps that could be done to prevent a mission failure. That was why he didn't find himself disappointed that this creature had gotten itself so far here.
As the mercenary began to make comments towards him, he would turn his head to slightly face towards her, "Aye, if it were just a little cold I wouldn't worry. The cold in these sand areas drops dramatically however when night hits. Some rumors say they can hear ice pellets coming nearby. None can explain why yet. This area always seems to gather a garner of attention. From what we keep hearing from letters from the core kingdom, this area seems to generate large burst of power at the random, every time such happens it acts as when the weather changes. No one can truly explain the mystery, and it ain't a small power one could just ignore really either, were talking in the tens of thousands on the power scale. One of the forever mysteries and legends we share in the village. We think it might be the lightning storms in the area interacting with the metals in the desert. A feedback causing the surges. Only a theory however...", Sine would begin to explain the urban legend to the Mercenary as they continued their walk, every once and again he kept with his pursuit of the tracks. "We should be getting closer, but be careful not to move too fast. A herd of em will be too much for even some of the stronger soldiers of the kingdom. If Anima was here, we would set some kind of trap, her phoenix shot would be enough to ignite it and box em in."

She could feel some powers in the air, Some stronger then the simple beasts of wild creatures that normally roamed the lands. For the moment brushing it off briefly as perhaps simply the feeling of a large herd maybe clumping together as they boy seemed to imply they may be tracking. Or if not perhaps other hunters were out she wasn't aware of. She didn't know much about this village normally so it truly could have been either or as a guess as far she really knew.
She'd move quickly enough always keeping up as well. Her good eye always keeping watch careful not to miss anything major or if anyone got to close. Snorting a bit at the worry of the cold. "Yea, Yea, Getting to shelter if it gets to dark might be smart. But even still I've seen some rowdy weather on several other planets. Chances are its nothing I haven't tackled before. But hmph, I'll at least take your word for it. we can duck away someplace if we have to assuming it takes us a bit longer then expected to find these dirty little things." She'd say with a light snort. Tactful battle not her forte after all. She was used to more upfront engagements. Ready to strike more so whenever the creatures would finally be in range and come into combat view.
