Baalbatos stood in front of his new ship, their new ship, proud. It was a fresh arrival to this planet, just dropped off by the shipwrights earlier in the day. But the ship would not sit for long. Already he was prepping it for its maiden voyage, the journey to Earth. It was on Lord Qrowen’s orders of course, but based partially in Baalbatos’s own suggestions. In his mind, he was already constructing an itinerary, a plan of action for when they reached the big, blue marble.
And the trip would not take long. Baalbatos had spared no expense on this ship, even if he should. The ship came with the latest in thrusters technology, something that would cut their trip in half. It also had custom insides, designed to hold more people. Baalbatos was proud of his purchase. And he hoped that Lord Qrowen would be as well.
“Sir,” said a soldier, an Apel man with pale green skin, as he walked up to the demon, “Your ship is fueled and ready for lift off.”
“Excellent,” cooed Baalbatos, “I trust my things are on board?”
Baalbatos had packed light. A few basic supplies, a few changes of clothing, and of course, his data pad. He was already wearing his weights, rarely did he go without them these days, for fear of losing the strength he had built with them.
“Yes sir!” Exclaimed the soldier, “All your belongings are accounted for.”
“Fabulous. Thank you, soldier. Now do me another favor and retrieve Lord Qrowen for me, will you? We must be off,” said the demon, his foot bouncing up and down on the launch pad.
The soldier nodded and saluted, running off at once. Baalbatos smiled as he watched the man go. Hopefully the Kold Demon Lord would not be long. Baalbatos’s heart was light. He was eager to see Earth again, though perhaps it would not be eager to see him. But, he reminded himself as he stepped into his ship, he had a purpose this time.
Baalbatos went to the control panel and began to prep it for launch, his eyes and hands glancing over the various switches and buttons. He’d piloted a ship once before, but only once. Hopefully he could figure it out a second time. If not, he thought, they were in for a bumpy ride. And a long one. At least he had the navigation controls figured out. The display screen flickered to life and various words and numbers filled the screen, most of which the lilac-skinned demon understood. He grinned as he punched the coordinates in. An image flashed on the screen of the console: Earth.
