Griselda
Name: "Lady" Griselda "of Lexington"
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Homeworld: Earth (Alternate Timeline)
Starting Planet: Earth
Appearance:
Griselda's a petite 5'2" from bow to toes. Muscles and the sharp contours of her face show a lean young woman for what she is; A small warrior. The young woman's face holds a youth that feels both innocent and powerful as a sort of stoic beauty is usually plastered on her face. Sharp green eyes, unwavering lips, pointy everything. Her silvery white hair is cut in a mop nearing the middle of her neck. Her bangs cut down to the eyebrows. She uses a oriental style ribbon to keep this hairdo in place.
Griselda wears anything from her usual green dress shirt and dress to kimonos and casual shorts and shirt. It typically depends on what she is doing. In terms of weaponry she is the bearer of a legendary weapon from a world outside this very one - Excalibur. Without its scabbard, Avalon, the sword has to be kept in a less original captain's sheath. The poor thing itself has seen better days. The once glowing sword has lost its natural shine. Chips and scratched are embedded deep into the blade and handle. A whole chunk of the guard is broken off. Despite these physical deformities the semi-sentience of the blade holds still.
Thus Excalibur's transformation to human usually has it looking like a clone of Griselda. Just as serious looking as her, scarred and rugged even to show the irreparable damage done to the blade. Any other form she takes will keep these scars as it is part of the blade. Power-wise, the blade has lost a potion of its ability to chop down evil. If it was from wear or the unusual way of having obtained Excalibur is uncertain.
Backstory:
{Pre-DBUJ}
Lady Griselda of Lexington was not born with such a title. Her origins trace back to a whole decade before a famous power struggle between the Red Ribbon Army and a resistance of Earth. The Lady was born to Marsha and Dean Evergreen; Her birth-given name being Elizabeth. Dean was one of the few low-profile scientists working for the RRA. Years went on without them going through with a plan to establish a totalitarian order. That time came with eventuality. Once he was needed, they withdrew him forcibly from his family. This left the young two year old girl and her mother alone with the threat of being pursued should they let anyone know of this. Because of this Elizabeth was promptly given to Marsha's brother, a wealthy man going by the name "Count of Lexington" and with his wife, the Countess. It is here where she was given the name Griselda and given a new identity. Never to see her biological parents again.
Griselda was raised into a more wealthy lifestyle. The Lexington Manor was planted right in a suburb next to the small city of Lexington, hence the name of both the estate and the owners. These two, Carl and Beth, had promised the mother to never speak a word further about her. As time would tell this worked to keep the young woman from knowing where she really came from. Sure it was a bit lonely having your only friends be a butler and the private tutor your parents pay. It was compensated for with a needless amount of toys and trinkets. All the fun money could buy. Her early years, up to her preteens, were mundane and cozy.

Engrid. The sinister brother to Katan, the new and calm demon ruler, and devious son of Dabura, that famous demon king of old. Engrid was trapped due to his radical thoughts on the moral realm and his wishes to overtake it. The famous demonic swordsmith whom made the Runeblades, including Nethermourne and Excalibur, Pyrokon, unleashed Engrid from his caged home in Makai. Both went to Katan to both confront and lock him away the same he did to Engrid.
When the demon reign started, it was sudden and powerful. Earth was among some of the first planets to become hit by this new threat of makai portals being ripped open by the demonic Swordsmith Pyrokon. The planets were just now becoming familiar with eachother, forming alliances and rivalries early on. This new threat was, at first, not cared about as many of the more prominent warriors of each faction could handle the smallfry coming through these small portals.
Griselda, now twelve, was informed that she needed to be relocated somewhere safer. The butler was tasked with driving a limousine to her Uncle-In-Law, as he was a martial artist who was a form of protection for her. On their way over a wave of Demons crashed their car and carried off the butler, leaving Griselda out alone in a world being attacked constantly by demons. The Lady didn't make it too far without being attacked by a gargoyle-like demon. This is where she finally made a new friend. An Android that started mothering her and taking care of her as she led them to a city where it was much safer.
Her Step-Uncle, Lucius, was careful on how to train her. For nearly a whole year they spent going over the basics of ki manipulation and learning the basics of combat. They traveled the worlds to explore different styles to incorporate into his own mixed martial arts. Eventually this formed a set of mixed martial arts called Hozon Shimasu. Preserve. Preserve what? Well... Life. She was given the mechanics to protect people, including herself.
Yeah, a year. The demons were a constant threat that slowly dwindled down during this time. Engrid and Pyrokon hadn't the motivation to wipe the Universe clean in one go. This was because of their want to instill a sense of false hope unto the mortals. That was until they realized the constant little pressures were making this hope work too well. Pyrokon's Runeblades have been given to demon commanders over eons, and it was these who would lead bigger armies to assault the grand cities of Earth, Vegeta, Hera, and other planets. The duo eventually had to flee to Earth from a Saiyan who had an attitude with Griselda.
There, said dangerous Saiyan flollowed in suit and attempted to murder Griselda in the middle of North City. This was when... a valiant warrior and her capadres came to save her. Atsuko, Keira, and nameless Earth Forces that worked within the city to keep it safe. A Saiyan monk and the wielder of the Runeblade Excalibur and her zoanthrope chick friend batted the currently Oozaru Saiyan and welcomed both her and Lucius into their home. Over the weeks she had found a new figure, both motherly and sisterly in all rights.
Combined with various other warriors from the planets, the new resistance against the demons 'killed' off the commanders of the demons and claimed their rune-blades. They turned out to be the source of their particular immortality, as they kept coming back with a vengeance. Said power was unfortunately unable to be transferred to mortal beings. Overall, this display of cooperation made Engrid want to play a little game. Several of the said heroes fighting the demons were marked and controlled to consistently hunt down the others.
With progression on eradicating the demon threat halting from this, Pyrokon also enacted a sort of commandment onto the mortal realm. Ripping a large hole over the ocean of Earth, Pyrokon declared three days of safety until this ripple started growing. This was the ripple of the fabric between makai and the overworld. Earth and many others would be engulfed by it should it not be stopped.

Griselda and a lot of the Earth's populous were evacuated off the planet onto Vegeta while the heroes settled what differences they could by killing those who were marked by Engrid. This would prove to be detrimental as they would need every able body to help with this new plan; To Assault Makai straight at its heart. With everything in order, the resistance made their first and strongest of attempted assaults made repeat by retreats.
This primary assault killed a lot of people, destroyed a lot of demons. Nothing was going to prepare them for the sheer power Pyrokon and Engrid possessed though. There were no supersaiyans, superhumans, or any other variant of such in this realm. Not a magnificent, powerful being able to be called upon in their need to fight. Atsuko, keira, and a few others were the only ones to retreat at a lose alive. it was clear they too hard to jump ship and abandon the earth.
It was a depressing sight. Earth was engulfed in the blackness of the ripple. There was no doubt demons had taken over it all now. It grew at an exponential rate, so it actually took weeks to fully engulf the earth. Once it started, it hit off by spreading out radially and consuming the moon too. It was not going to stop, and everyone alive knew this. For years they had to hop from planet to planet further in order to keep out of range of the ever quickening darkness. And Griselda? She felt too weak to do anything about it.
What was it she could call home...? Just being with Atsuko and Lucius was enough. Even though they had to travel nearly every month or two, depending on situation. The large ships of the mortal resistance were made fast enough for travel and comfortable enough for family life, bonding closer to both her uncle and now adoptive sister was... nice. Very nice. Even in the hell that they experienced now, it was a refreshing feeling every day to just talk, laugh, eat alongside them.
But as they say, all good things must come to an end. Now a young woman, Griselda was given an opportunity to finally attempt one more time to confront of demons in their realm and try destroying them at the roots. Was it fate that this would also be where Atsuko fell? Yes, the resistance had been weakened so much that even Atsuko herself had become overwhelmed with trying to carry everyone on her back, metaphorically. In a last attempt to save her and Lucius Atsuko handed the legendary, worn Excalibur to Griselda without ceremony and knighting while she still held onto Avalon, it's magical sheath. While Atsuko covered the exit, Griselda attempted to stay behind with her in a naive attempt to save her the same way she did to her all those years back. it took a dozen people, but the Lady was forced to retreat along with the rest as she regrettably watched Atsuko be left alone in there.
A huge mourning ceremony on the ships took place for the fall of the last of the strong warriors who gave them the hope in defeating Engrid. Grief, anger, and a want for revenge coursed through her veins. They've killed so many people and ruined plenty of families. Hers nearly three times. The galaxy itself was almost completely taken over by this disease of a ripple. Many thought like her but knew to keep on fighting was not going to work. In the middle of the ceremony, the ships announced that this was there last stop. This last refuge planet was on the edge of the galaxy, a last chance for those who were still alive. The resistance, while there, tried to find a way out of their galaxy or possibly their universe entirely. A lot of great minds have died in the process of getting to the other side of the galaxy, but one lucky theoretical physicist was given the opportunity to finally run with his radical idea; Time Travel.
The machine was a prototype by the time the encroaching darkness sped up much faster than predicted. it had been tested previously on rats, mice, etc without much success of a return. They'd just... disappear. The risk provided didn't stop the scientist from calling on people to try it out before it was too late for the Universe. With one of their last refuge worlds already surrounded by makai demons, none who wanted were strong enough to get past the army of demons... Except for Griselda.
With the help of Lucius and the holy blade Excalibur, the two pushed hard through to the machine. The lab it was in contained various notes on how to operate the machine, but there was a foil to their plans; 1 Organism at a time, and it had a cool-down to recharge and cool off the batteries. It was only right for Lucius to trick Griselda into the machine and exchange their last goodbyes as the machine shut her in tight. No amount of crying and pounding weakly on the air-locked door was going to change the man's mind as he pulled the lever mere minutes before the ripple completely consumed their Galaxy's last refuge.

It was a blinding flash of light, a numbing sensation of the body. For just a moment in time, the young lady felt nothing. Almost. If one could do such a thing. The sensations brought upon the machine seemed to jumble her mind. Her eyes were closed, the blinding light having forced them shut. Most of her sensations came from the sound of nearby streams and the cooing of wild animals. It was strange, hearing such familiar sounds when she was used to deserts and decaying landscape.
While she was standing up beforehand now she felt like gravity was pushing her entire body against something. What was it she was laying on...? Soft, thin little blades with a good prick at their end. Something that felt like rubber when you put it between your fingers. Oh, right. She could feel her body again. Able to move her hands to carefully grasp at the magnificent amount of these soft things. Grass. Another thing she had left behind years ago. It felt almost unnatural to touch it.
With a groan Griselda blinked her dazed eyes open to stare up at the bright blue skies. The sunlight was shrouded by many nearby trees in what she could tell from looking up was forest topography. Everything was blurred at first, but as she came to she could move more of her body. See more of the roaming squirrels and birds move through the forest. So much green. Brown. Yellows and oranges of the setting sun piercing the light canopy of the forest. Where... was this? What was this? Griselda managed to prop herself up with another groan and grunt. The young lady placing a hand on her head to settle down the mild dazzle she still felt. She was all there. Hands, feet, torso, head, clothes. Excalibur was still sheathed neatly beside her, hidden in a rough scabbard. It remained silent throughout the experience thus far. Was it also affected by the process like she was?
It took a while to stand up. She was too enthralled in seeing such beauty and fond remembrance. Thinking about it Griselda could feel her dried tears on her face now. It looked, felt, and sounded just like Earth. Was this her home? It's been years, and the last time she saw it the planet was crawling with demons. When she finally did stand up, she just kept turning in circles. Taking in all the sights with a big dumb smile on her face. She probably looked like a mess but she had no way of telling aside from ruffling her own hair a bit to get it somewhat straight. Despite this she was thrilled to be around this nature. Earth or not, this was going to be her new home.
"Water..." Her voice felt dry and raspy. The trip did something more than just daze her. Her eyes eventually glazed over the stream nearby. Despite being crystal clear the stream wasn't safe to drink from. Out in a forest like this, it would be filled with bacteria and microscopic fishies. Nah, all she wanted was to feel it. Take every bit of this in. She approached the small stream of water and knelt alongside it before cupping her hands and splashing merrily at herself. Face, neck, shoulders and arms all covered in the flying water she hit herself with as she laughed.
"Haha... ha... Why's it like this?" She wasn't just talking about the green around her either. No, this is around the fourth time she has been abandoned or sent out to do things on her own. Losing most that she knew and starting a somewhat new life every time. This realization... her rare smile and laughter halted again as she narrowed her eyes down on her sword. It had been awfully quiet. "... Are you there Excalibur?" The sword, while it has been usually this quiet for the past year or so, was oddly not responding.
"This place... is it really Earth? Did I really go back in time?" Nobody from before in her universe knew of how time-travel really worked in terms of the function. "I need some answers here, blade." Unlike its former wielder, the young woman had grown to not take shit for too long. She wanted to know, even if she had to jostle the blade fiercely. Not that shaking it by the hilt was going to really make it feel anything.
"That's for us to find out, Griselda." The sentient sword finally spoke to her mind, sounding an awful lot like her. Perhaps a touch lighter in tone. "Have you not found a device on you of any sort with a way to get back?"
"Ah, no. I felt grass, saw sunlight, smelt the aroma of... no. I never cared for nature's smell. Didn't find something similar to that machine or anything related to it." It probably meant that was a one-way ticket. She wanted to complain more and more about Luscius's needless sacrifice. How they could have still been a family. Thinking about it would only make her cry like a baby though. She had enough of being a baby. "Think we're stuck here?"
"That's for us to find out as well."
