Back at the mansion… again. Last time Flare was here she had her love in her bed. They had a whole night together. They had whole plans together… The warm, tingling feeling of that night they had together ached now as memories flooded her mind. The young flame was down in the slums. Battered and bruised from the head to toe. Despite her attire being fire retardant, the blast from the saiyan boy had left it in tatters and scarred from intensity of the blast. Without her car, she had to fly in slowly. Head hung low as she touched down in front of her fountain just out in the middle of the estate. It was one of the few things to change the several months of chaotic events. Jefferson Manor. That large fountain of water still churned out its crystal clear waters, the greenery mazes, the mansion and the forests surrounding it. Even with all that has happened, she still has her home; If Vaneera goes through with what she can diplomatically she won’t have to worry about losing it anymore. The name of the place… Jefferson Manor. Long had it really worn its name out. No one in the home’s name carried it anymore. Jackie Jefferson was, after all, just an alias. Something she respected use of only because her foster parents used it before they passed away. Auntie was the only one who remained to use it frequently. It was a good disguise to seem human, too, but now… Now she had finally had reason to discard it after all these years.
“Heh…” It almost mocked her, that water. She weakly looked up at its consistent flow. Despite repeating the same task continually for ages it refused to just change course. Even though it was just an object in the universe to be manipulated, it was something to look at. Flare had been much more erratic and unstable with her passage through these months. Loses and gains alike. She grew in power unlike anything she could have imagined, trained harder for a cause she believed in. But she lost a friend. A master. An assistant... A lover. She lost her namesake and remained only with her Auntie and her money. “It’s like a fairytale. Isn’t it?” She spoke to herself aloud as she started to go around the fountain and into her manor; Even with all she had accomplished, there were still things left undone. She was humiliated. Tortured. Made a bitch of, right in front of Shizen before she got taken as ‘compensation’ for her arrogant and petty actions towards the self-proclaimed god-king.
Being this late at night, the day maids were out while the night maids were being quiet. Some just holding up and chatting in their rooms. The main room’s lights were all that shone through the white and red bricked manor. The large doors into the manor opened up on their own, recognizing her energy on-spot and unlocking themselves to touch. It was still just the same home she remembered it as… That much was nice. With a quick glance around, the young flame spotted an old lady sleeping in one of the two comfy chairs next to these doors. Auntie. She fell asleep in the chair. Probably just sat down and went to sleep from exhaustion as soon as she came in. She, as head maid, didn’t have her work clothes on. She still wore that loose casual wear. The same she wore when she was up at the hospital with her. Beside the chair laid Shizen’s family sword. Rested firmly and carefully atop a small desk between the two chairs.
“Tabitha.” Flare spoke to Auntie in her actual name and made to shake her a little. Crimson eyes carefully met Auntie’s reddish browns. The old lady, stirred, jolted up into a more appropriate sitting position and took a moment to look over her beat up child.
“Jackie? W-what happened?” Auntie looked like she was about to correct herself on the use of Jackie, but Flare just shook her head before she could get anything else out. The fire elemi just gave a saddened smile.
“I’m sorry I yelled at ya, Auntie. I just… yeah. It just kinda happened. I couldn’t control myself.” Flare had to explain herself to Auntie like she did the others at the hospital, her hair flaring up slightly again as she forcibly wrapped arms around her and tried hugging her. Auntie did not resist. “I turned into this… uncontrollable rage-induced being… and I felt strong. Not strong enough, seeing as I got beat up by a kid, but strong.” Flare laughed in her sorrow and still held tightly onto her aunt.
“It’s alright.” Auntie eventually broke the hug with a warm smile and brushed away some tears that started collecting in Flare’s eyes. “You have never been too much for me, child. Never have, never will. You’re a strong woman, you get to make your own decisions. If telling me off is one of them then I respect that.” The two helped each other get away from the chairs, Auntie and Flare walking out into the centre of the empty main room. They were on even ground now. “I felt a lot of that anger within you, child. Had to get into your mind to understand truly why you would act in such a way. Was it justified? No… but it had reason. Everything you went through… I cannot believe I let it happen to you.” The two shared another quick embrace in that room before Auntie took a hold of the distressed Flare.
“Now, let’s get you some clothes on before the night maids think you indecent!” Flare took Shizen’s keepsake with her as the two trailed onto her room. There was plenty there to do that could help the young flame cope with what afflicted her. Physically and emotionally. They took the better of an hour getting a new outfit put together and cleaning Flare up. New goggles, new breastplate and gloves. Even the dress bit. Everything had to be put together into an outfit again.
After that they stepped on out to the large garage. This was offset from the main lobby room, large industrial double-doors separating the lobby and said garage. After the small family talk and getting her child cleaned up Tabitha wanted to show her something.
“Feeling any better now that you are walking around?” Auntie lead her by the hand passed the many cars and robots that were around in the garage. Most were of Flare’s own design and creation. That wasn’t what they were in here for anyways.
“Still sore. Isn’t anything I’ll be crying about though.” It’s a good thing she didn’t really work a constant job or anything. The things she went through wouldn't have allowed for it. “So, what is this again? You said you had a surprise for me.” They eventually stopped up at one of the small boxes that Flare worked behind a thick window in. This was usually used to test explosive and the like, especially when she was younger. Something like this, she would have no use for now. It shows too, some of the controls look stuck in place.
“That is good. Now, I show you something I have been meaning to show you for a few years now… but I suppose I have never really the need to since. Not until recently.” The old lady let go of the elemi and started pressing a certain sequence of buttons. “Do you remember that story about your old man, Jackson, and Duff? They used to be crime-fighters. Served the people like they were superheros… And, in some respect, they were. At least for humans, they were strong and cunning.” What she was recalling was a story little child Flare would get before she went to bed. Her adoptive father and her business adviser were brought up as being part of this Earthling force that would help keep down the crime. Since most of the heavy-hitters in the galaxy dealt not with the common folk, these mediocre yet very much superior men would deal with it. Flare considered the story nothing more than a fabrication as none of them looked like fighting material.
“Yes. What, you gonna do something cliche like, say, it’s true?” The old woman just laughed and eventually pulled a handle. A rumble in the ground near the other side of the box revealed a small compartment. Flare leaned around Auntie in order to see it fully. It was roughly the width of the box, so a good six feet. It couldn’t hold more than a body in there.
“No, child. Those buffoons couldn’t handle a hobo trying to mug them. The people whom I associated the stories with are, indeed, not real. The stories themselves are.” Auntie leaned on down to open up the small compartment to reveal an array of things. This blue, brown, and black suit with a hood, some sort of large rifle, several different variants of weights and bandannas. The old lady picked it on up and tossed it over her loose clothing. Even the tight black suit seemed to just melt onto her form as the old lady put on this cloaked hood. A bit of Then, a bandanna would slip over her ponytail. She fidgeted with it a bit long due to old age, but she got it there. Same with this… eye-patch. She didn’t exactly need an eye-patch, why was that a thing? She pulled the hood up after that, compensating hair by pulling it up in front of her neck so it wouldn’t irritate her back. Finally, that gun. She slung that thing behind her back in a single hand movement. The thing was taller than she was.
“It has been a while, but I am a fighter.” The old lady turned around and smiled back at Flare. “Well, was. I gave up just before becoming caretaker to you, actually. I was getting old and wanted to settle down with my only family around. Me and James were twins, after all.” She brushed past the young flame, again leading her around with the grasp of a gentle and weathered hand. “Besides, I got to raise a very bright, intelligent, and strong lady. You might have not been my own child, Jackie, but I see you as one. Raised you as one. You know that though, right?” Tabitha chuckled, and it made the young flame smile.
“And I’m glad you did, Auntie. You were more of a parent than my foster parents were even.” It was only true through Flare's eyes, the comment quelled the old woman’s smile. Auntie’s expression turned solemn as she led her closer to the seats out in the center of the garage. This was Flare’s work space. Together, they sat facing towards one another in this talk.
“Your foster parents loved you all the same as I did, Jackie. I just tried harder… I’ve no kids of my own.” That was weird to hear. Flare recalled Auntie always talking about the kids with James Duff and her foster parents.
“Then what were you talking those years ago with James? Jack?” Tabitha’s smile returned. Sadder.
“That was talk of James’s kids, my child.” The old lady went to reach out and hold onto now both of the young flame’s hand in her own. “My dream to have children of my own was crushed long ago…-” There were several seconds of silence hanging off that sentence before Auntie looked back up at Flare. “-You know, when I first saw that Shizen girl, I thought you two were just good friends. And when it turned out that you both had a thing for eachother. I had hoped it was just a passing-by relationship; That it wasn’t going to be anything serious between you girls. Not with you so young and so rambunctious.” That just made Flare snort a bit, but Tabitha retained her serious tone.
“I feared that if you got yourself too deep into someone when you haven’t even settled down yourself… that you would end up like me.” Considering where Auntie was now, that didn’t make initial sense. From what Flare had seen all her life Auntie was happy to be her friend, her caretaker. Living in a rich-girl’s mansion without having to deal with some pompous-ass blondie or something. Flare perked a brow and dropped her snorting almost immediately.
“Like you? Auntie, you’ve got one of the best lives I know of.”
“That’s because you don’t know me well, child. I do not tell people of my past.” The old lady patted the hands in her grasp, nodding to reassure both herself and the young flame. “I spent the latter years of my life… even now, still mourning over him. I once had this idealistic dream. To have a family, perhaps become famous and rich.” Some spirit had poured into this old lady as she continued. “To love someone, it was a godsend that I could not have been more thankful for. They sent me Draven... Me and this young man, in our youthful early twenties. We messed around, had our laughs and dreamy moments. All had looked well until suddenly… the gods then felt it right to take him away. I was powerless to stop it, someone just… wanted the rising star dead.” While rambling on, Tabitha had a hanging tear starting from the corner of her visible eye. Flare took note of it and wiped it away, same as she did for her just earlier today. The touch made the old lady jump and just smile warmly at her child.
“Ohh, Jackie... “ She recomposed herself, the touch and sentiment enough to keep the old woman from crying thinking about it. “Stricken with grief, I took to join Earth’s force fighters to grow stronger. I did not want something like that to happen again. Even then I had not found a love since. I have protected many and let them have a loving and whole lives, but without Draven... I always slept knowing that he could have been beside me each and every night had I been able to do something.” Auntie let go of her hands and brushed a bit of the flame’s hair to the side. It had messed up on its own. “I might not be able to redeem what I lost in those years, my child… but this Shizen of yours… Even in her current state, she is savable.”
“Auntie.” Tabitha pressed her finger against the fire elemi’s lips in a hushing manner, shaking her head to confirm.
“Shh… I cannot save Draven, but I can make sure you do not have to go through the same things I had. If you are sure that you love this Shizen… this flower girl… I will help retrieve her from the same gods who wish you and your life’s dreams harm. I do not wish to see you continue life in despair Jackie.” Another moment of silence… Then Flare got up from her chair and hugged the smaller, older woman tightly. Like she had before as a child.
“For you, my child, I will give what remains of my time here on the earths to make sure you can remain happy.”
Flare started receiving from then on an actual extensive training lesson. The two of them set up in the open gravity chamber, said chamber turned off. They were using it for the equipment inside. In the middle of a session the two had stopped to eat and had started heading back to the gravity chamber for another lesson. The first paart of this was just getting old granny back into the groove of things. Now... Now Flare wanted to ask.
"Auntie." The two of them had just sat back into their positions now. "Telepathy.... I was wondering, since that's what you used to get into my head's insides... could ya teach me that?" The old lady's browns clashed with the crimsons of her child, thinking on it in this intense stare.
"Hmpf. Scion did not teach you? What a waste of time that greedy old fart was. Well, firstly... I want to make sure you can sense the powers of those around you." Flare tilted her head at the old lady. Of course she knew how to sense the powers of others nearby, she had done and demonstrated so for years.
"I have always been able to do that! What do ya me-" Tabitha thwapped her pupil on the top of her head. Flare reeled back in surprise and blinked at Auntie.
"Shush. I mean across the planet. Or, roughly. You need to have better awareness of your surroundings. At this point... you need to know what and who is on your planet. So as to not make that mistake again." The old lady took in a slow breath and closed her eyes. Flare did the same in following who she was taught by. "First, you must get a feel for your environment. take in the air, the earth, the many streams and rivers that cross the soil. Rocks, trees. Everything about Earth you can think of." Flare jolted at the thought of the oceans. She yelped and blinked her eyes open in the surprise. Auntie opened her eye and perked a brow.
"Sorry. Large bodies of water." Flare could swim, but even still she hated the oceans. They were always too big and too wet. Salty. Auntie just snorted and went back to her meditative state. Flare followed the lead again. "So... the entire Earth..."
"Yes, and those that reside on it. Think of the strongest person you know of here on this blue sphere and try then to work yourself down... feel anyone around that, perhaps? See if you can sense down to the smallest life here. To the plants and bugs." Flare took a concentrated effort to focus in on... Atsuko. With a painting of the Earth's energies vivid in her mind, she was able to get the precise location on that blondie warrior. She was so much stronger than herself. Then... several other strong bodies were around her. Once her mind had felt the signatures of those few, it started scanning the entire planet. This... overwhelming feeling of sensing the entire planet's lives made her had to break the concentration prematurely. She again reeled back in surprise.
"WHOA. WHAT WAS THAT!?" Auntie just laughed at the young woman's lack of control over the sensing. She instead made sure the young flame didn't fall onto her back, out of position. "No, seriously! What was that! I feel violated."
"You'll need to learn how to control when and what you are trying to sense. Otherwise, you might just get this inconsistent flood of knowledge you don't want... I am surprised you did in in one go though. Scion wasn't just lying when he said you had untapped potential. Maybe you can try to reach out even deeper?" The old lady laughed, there was no way a newbie could just straight up surpass her like that... Flare didn't even know how to even pinpoint precisely yet... but she was determined to try anyways! The young flame went back into her meditative sitting position. She tried to be as calm as she could be. Again, this flood of information from the planet filled her mind... but she could start reaching for the stars too. Far more spread out... until she started feeling the clumped presences of life again. Other planets? Flames started whirling off her hair again as her mind and emotions fueled this sense of power. Her racing mind hit a brick wall once she got a sense of a very familiar power... Shizen? The blue-haired bastard and some other demonic energy was with her.
"AH!" Flare shook from her trance again, looking at the old lady who was also just searching the stars for powers. She was pretty deep into it. The young flame had to shake Tabitha in order to get her out of it. "Auntie! I did it! I fuckin' did it!" Auntie looked at her child with wide eyes and looked back at the chamber's console. Five minutes hadn't passed between her instructing the young flame how to search for the powers.
"I... really? You are not kidding me child, are you? It is only... That took me many years to fully accomplish." Even if Flare did not know precision yet, just being able to sense the powers out that far... that was pretty incredible. Tabitha wasn't expecting the young flame to just pick the sensing technique like that. She was always a smart noodle, but this was very uncalled for. "Alright... One step at a time. Try to regulate that flow. Search out for one in particular. The use of this is to determine power and where they roughly are... Start on Earth, THEN somewhere else."
Without the use of concentrated meditation the young flame reached out to sense the dwelling power of that knight. So large and so close. Then again, to Ayami. To those she knew of close... And, again, she searched to single out Shizen. She felt... well off. Good, even. The hippie had this strange power lurking within her that she hadn't felt before though. Was it that strange marking Chris went on about back at the hospital? Auntie could feel her precision just by reading her mind. The old lady nodded and patted the young flame on her head.
"Good. Very Good. So you know how to use that then you will now focus on project your own thoughts into another's head. Telepathy." She would retract her hand and stare deep into the young flame's eyes. There, deep inside her mind, she felt that similar tingle of intrusion. Tabitha started telepathing in the simplest way.
["Like this. First, try to reach for my power. Get into my mind. Then project your own feeling and ideas into it. It will feel like conversation."] At first go, it seemed a little silly to Flare. She picked up where Auntie left instruction anyways and went into her mind to return her thought. It was... there?
["A-ah... Shizen!... Do it again!"] Instead of thinking to her, she let loose a dormant thought. A memory deeply embedded into her mind. Auntie blinked and squinted her eyes at the young flame's perverted thought. Flare was none the wiser that she had let that out.
"What?" Flare let out audibly before the old woman just started laughing her ass off. Auntie found herself on her back, kinda rolling at the slipped thought. Confused, the young flame just tried again. ["What are ya laughin' about grandma?"] Tabitha kept laughing and laughing for several moments before even realizing her young Flame had actually spoke to her through mind. She picked herself on up and still carried her smirk.
["Nevermind that. Now try to reach someone outside of this place. Look to that blonde knight one you were reaching before, or maybe the water spirit you also were able to connect to."] Again... Flare would scan outside of the physical boundaries in order to touch up on an older acquaintance. That one knight who she knew was strong enough to make some sort of stand against that wannabe king. It felt like it was ages ago since the two had talked anything serious. Only back whenever Flare was much weaker than she was now.
["Hey. Atsuko? It's me, Flare... It has been a while, huh? Listen... I'm sure you probably have a rough guesstimate of what happened to me and Shizen. Involving that blue prick? I... Fucked up. Sorry if this message sounds split up... at moments, still getting used to the telepathy... Anyways, can I come visit or something? Or, better yet, could ya come over to my manor? Or maybe just talking to you like this will work... I think just talking with you might help me."]
Flare is attempting to learn:
[ST-2] Ki sense: allows to have a precise notion of people's PL as long as they are in the same planet.
[ST-3] Ki sense: allows to have a perfect notion of people's PL as long as they are in the same Galaxy.
[ST-1] Telepathy: The ability to mentally communicate with people. Its range going off what tier of Ki sense you have mastered. If the user does not have Ki sense then physical or eye contact would be required.

[Thread PL: 471,882 base. Staying on the Timeless Lookout for 50% Mansion Bonus!]
The first thing that Flare would get as a response from the Albino Saiyan upon establishing a mental connection were not words, but instead an image of the Knight rather... Violently breaking the leg of a man clad in Saiyan Armor. She must have been doing some training, or was involved in a fight and was thinking about her next move, there was a brief silence after that, and then the Saiyan would finally respond. "Sorry about that... So this is your first time using Telepathy? Not bad for a first attempt.", the Albino Saiyan would then properly respond to Flare.
"I'm in the middle of training, but I can take a break in order to speak with you. I'd prefer to speak on the Timeless Lookout, but we can converse in this manner.", she added. Then she began to process what Flare stated earlier... So, Jarvis was screwing around on Earth again, and now he was placing people at risk... The Knight's fists would tighten out of reflex. She really wanted to start breaking him for that, but she controlled herself for now. If she blindly charged after him, there was no telling what would happen to Shizen. This called for careful planning.
Besides, she couldn't leave Flare hanging in a time of need. The Knight would calmly make her way through the halls of the Timeless Lookout, stopping in the throne room and then taking a seat. "So. Jarvis has returned to Earth. Rather brave of him to do that after what happened last time. I get the feeling that's not the only reason you've contacted me, however. What's on your mind, Flare?", she inquired. Shortly after the golden sword would shift into human form and look towards Atsuko. "Are you thinking of going after him?", she asked.
Atsuko shook her head lightly. "I'd like to. I could beat him, at that. But I feel it would be a bad idea because it could place Shizen at risk... It would also risk a war. It's a damn game to Jarvis, and it's one that he's good at... He doesn't get afraid, either.", the Saiyan responded. "Yeah... I think the closest is when you first transformed into a Super Saiyan Three, you said so little to him, and that infuriated him. He doesn't do very well if he can't play his games.", the woman in red pointed out, and then the Knight gives a nod in response.
"That's true... But it's also risky for anyone not on his level. I only came out alright because of the power difference between us. If I was weaker then, he would have had free reign to kill me.... I don't doubt that he wouldn't have, either. Nakiya seems to care more for him, at that. Doubt she could have done anything to save me.", the Albino Saiyan explained. She could think clearly now, and she knew that the Demon Queen did more than a fair share of manipulation back then, but... It was just difficult.
Calling her an enemy with one hundred percent certainty. By that same extension she couldn't just call Nakiya a blameless friend, either. The Demon Queen was out for her own agenda and that much was clear in that she still wanted to exterminate the Saiyans... If she decided to go through with that plan, then Atsuko would be ready to fight against her... Funny, she didn't like the Saiyans all that much, but she was willing to save them... Why was that? They didn't do anything redeeming in the Universe. She frowned as she looked towards the ground.
"Speaking of the Saiyans... I've noticed that you've been far more harsh towards them. Not just in words, but in your fighting style as well. I know that the Pendulum Room's training events aren't real, but... Are you sure it's wise to fight them so violently?", the Sacred Sword asked. Atsuko would give a light sigh in response. "Nasu taught me that I can't be forgiving to the Saiyans. Sparing them is weakness, and it convinces them to keep fighting beyond all reason and logic. Now I know to break them utterly in order to get them to stop."
She spoke in a dark manner, but she was still sparing their lives. Broken arms and legs could heal over time, and with their technology it'd probably be even faster. But they'd think twice about attacking her or Earth again if they were put through that type of pain, for sure... Komatsu probably wouldn't like it. He didn't seem to much like anything she did in regards to the Saiyans. But the Knight wasn't just going to bend over backwards to please him or be 'perfectly fine with the Saiyans' either. They'd done a lot of horrible things, and now they refused to own up to it.
That was fine, she'd show them the error of their ways. If they didn't listen to words, then they'd definitely listen to someone that was just stronger than they were in a battle. 'Might makes Right" was not a philosophy she used often, but for the Saiyans? It was becoming very tempting... If she ever fought Nasu again, she wouldn't hold back either. Just thinking about him caused her rage to boil over, her hair taking on a slight golden glow and her eyes shifting every now and then into that soul piercing teal.
Atsuko would take a deep breath and compose herself. She needed to be calm, the Knight had a conversation to hold with Flare after all. The Fire Elemi hadn't spoken to her in awhile, so she had to admit that she was curious about what it was. It very clearly wasn't just for telling the Knight about what happened with Jarvis. But that was just an assumption on her part, it could very well be that was all that the Elemi wanted to say... Still, Atsuko would wait patiently, her conversation with Excalibur had been finished for now, so Flare had Atsuko's undivided attention.
WC: 1,005 ____________ Using Telepathy to converse with Flare.
Auntie looked up at her child, who seemed to be remaining quiet for a bit. Flare had taken to listen to Atsuko in return. It was a good call, she figured the powerful knight knew how to respond in kind. After a moment of searching into Flare’s eyes, she could tell. The young flame returned the glance with a nod before Auntie decided to get up from the chamber floors.
“Thanks… Give me a bit, will you?” Flare looked up to Auntie as she respected the wish and started to make her way on out and down from the chamber itself. “And hey, could ya get something fixed? Even if it’s a little early?” The old lady stopped at the foot of the steps and smiled at the request. It would give her something to do. “Fix my favorite!”
“Will do. Just come on out when you’re done.” She finally gone out of view of the redhead. If anything, the silence and solitude helped with focusing on conversation with the cladded knight. The kami would have reason to be impressed with it… especially in the amount of time she picked up how to use it. The sound of training was just what the young flame wanted to hear from Atsuko.
[“Sorry tah interrupt. I just knew since you were so strong and all that it’s a possibility you could help. Or I could help you.”] The young flame assumed a more meditative position again to help her focus and mind in the task of telepathy. [“I didn’t know if my presence was sound or not, so… I asked instead. This will work anyways, my auntie said I needed to learn how to get a full sense of my surroundings. That It would help in case this sort of thing were to come up again. I gotta ask, what happened last time with him? Did you casterate him or something?”] Her telepathic messaging seemed lighthearted there for a moment. She had to get on with it though… In her chamber, alone, the echo of a sign she uttered shook her psyche a bit. She wasn’t used to being alone inside the device either. [“Jarvis is a pompous fuckin’ pig. But I guess you probably already know that. After calling him out and getting him angry… Some shit happened. I’m not strong enough, even after my little outburst, to even compare to the man who humiliated me so.”] Atsuko probably saw what took place at the hospital too. Boy, was that something to explain. [“Took Shizen, knocked us all out, and blew my bot up for helping me. Someone else was intervening too… I was told by this Chris kid that Shizen felt like she had been marked?”] Flare had so many questions about it all. She was unfamiliar with the term 'marked' herself, but that confrontation did explain a few things to her. She had so much more to learn and go through before life would settle again. What had she gotten into?
[“I’m not sure how willing you are to help me, or if you are going to eventually go after the prick himself some time later… but I really would like the help. I’m not doing this for me, I’m doing this for Shizen.”] The young flame was never really a bad guy, but selflessness wasn’t top priority in her life. She had been spoiled for a big portion of it, so taking something into her own hands was different. If not somewhat redeeming. Maybe that is saying too much of someone who recently nearly burned a hospital down, but hey. You wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.
[“The more time I take with it, the more fucked Shizen will come out of this… I can just feel it.”] This sentence seemed to be both metaphorical and literal. [“But I can’t just run in at it like I did. The reason Shizen gave herself up; It was for my life. Jarvis played us like pawns and I was hopeless to stop it all.”] He did play well into her fiery attitude and anti-bully nature. Another thought seemed to fruitate from talking to the sword bearer though. Where the fuck was she when all of this happened?
[“That same Chris said he saw what was happening...”] Flare, in her chamber, was quietly fidgeting. She tried so to keep back any sort of tears. Being all emotional right now, after all she had done, wasn’t going to fix things. [“Explained that even if he did help… he was too weak to do anything. But you, Atsuko. I know how strong you are… Where the fuck were you?”] Yup, she let it get to her. Unbeknownst to the knight, the young flame’s hairs let off fire as emotion and passion into her thought.
[“No, this is still my fault, but you… could have done something, right? You wasn’t just watching it too, ... right?”] There had to be another reason why the knight hadn’t helped earlier, at least in her mind. Was there just nothing else to it? Did she really not have the power to go against the blue prick? Rapid thoughts and emotions went through her head. There was just so many things that could have made that whole night better… Yet, here she was. The young flame started crying in her lonesome. The communication between the two would cease for a while as Flare lost contact and found herself in this pained state.
Thank goodness Auntie could feel that.
Tabitha started on back up into the chambers and locked eyes with the young flame. The old lady had catered to the whiner enough though, and just shook her head at the display of tears.
“Control yourself. You’re not going to let something get to you so easily again, are you?” As harsh as it was the words hit home. Flare tightened her fists where she sat and carefully wiped her own tears this time. With a nod of approvement, the old lady stepped backwards out of the chamber again. She left with something that made it seem like she had heard at least part of the conversation with Atsuko.
“That’s my girl. Now get on with it. Don’t let your emotions control you, let them be your fuel. Go on, keep up with the knight… Oh, did you want cinnamon or butterscotch?” Flare really didn’t have a preference at the moment and just shrugged. Auntie would probably take that as eitheror. The young flame had to recompose before she started in her meditative stance again. Minds linked once again.
[“Sorry… I’m still here.”] She wasn’t perfect by any means, but she improved. Chris and Vaneera both wanted the young flame to find ways to calm herself after all. This did help. The talk with Auntie, Atsuko. It was half-comforting half-reality that stirred her cause even further. She was going to go through with paying back Jarvis for what he had done, and do the same to anyone else that hurt or otherwise messed with her little hippie.
The Albino Saiyan would give a light nod in response, though it was more out of reflex rather than Flare being able to see it. "Sounds wise. Meditating and focusing on one's surroundings is an excellent way to gain control over your energy. Telepathy is undoubtedly useful, at that. Through this we're able to converse no matter how far away in the Galaxy we are... At least, if your senses are as finely tuned as mine are.", the Knight responded in a calm 'tone of voice' to the Fire Elemi. Sounds like Flare was learning what she needed right now...
"As for what I did with Jarvis? I made him afraid of me, at least, he wasn't having fun. Evidently he doesn't do well when people don't play into his mind games... I don't recommend trying that unless you're strong enough to fight him and win. He does not react well. I mean it.", Atsuko then added. Still, the fact that she broke Jarvis's charisma and showed just how weak he was... He wouldn't be forgetting that anytime soon, and it'd make him cautious about fighting her again, he definitely wasn't keen on causing trouble on Earth just because Nasu was being an asshole.
"After that he came back to Earth and had a little scuffle with Nasu. He wasn't having fun there either, so he decided to spice things up by telling me that if Nasu did anything, he'd put Earth under threat.... I know my brother well enough, he'd do nothing but piss Jarvis off, and then I'd have to clean up the mess. But that's why our 'Glorious Caesar' hasn't been in the best of moods. I'll give him one thing, he knows not to get on my bad side right now.", the Saiyan then explained to Flare.
It was then that Atsuko would let out a sigh at Flare's explanations of everything that took place... He ended up doing a lot anyway. It was regrettable, but the Saiyan was more focused on keeping Earth safe, her immediate concerns were in resolving the peace talks with the Saiyan Alliance. She was still of the opinion that the Saiyans had no place on this planet, at least not right now, but Komatsu was intent on changing that by any means, even if it meant he had to stay behind personally with a squad under his command. She didn't like it...
But Atsuko trusted him, that's why she agreed to that much, JUST so that she could learn about the Saiyas. Not that she expected it to change anything. All of this must have happened while she was dealing with that, and purifying herself of the corruption that the Demon Queen gave her... "As much as it's not what you want to hear... Jarvis isn't on Earth anymore. He's out of my jurisdiction, and I need to keep my focus on this planet. I can't forsake my duties as it's Guardian... I also worry what would happen if I started hunting him down."
She began. "If I start hunting him down personally, it would not only leave Earth open to anyone with hostile intentions, I would also be abandoning peace talks with the Saiyan Alliance... But Jarvis is on edge right now, I worry what he would do to Shizen. If she is marked by that Sorcerer, then I don't know what her mental state is either. She could be willing to help Jarvis now. We need to be very careful about this.", the Knight would then go on to state. Granted, none of it was likely what Flare wanted to hear.
But it was all true... It was Flare's next words that would change the tone of their conversation. An accusation from the Fire Elemi. The Albino Saiyan's hands would tightly grip into fists once more, and she'd ascend into the Super Saiyan form. A surge of power not only felt on the Timeless Lookout, but strengthening her telepathic grip on the Fire Elemi's mind too. "Mind your tongue. I'll warn you that I have more than enough power in my Super Saiyan form to deal with whatever petty rage you have right now. This is not the time."
Atsuko's 'voice'... It was nothing short of cold. "I have enough problems on my plate dealing with the Saiyans. The same ones lead by my bastard of a brother that had no problems leaving me entirely broken and stranded in another dimension. Yeah. THEY are still trying to talk about peace with me, prove that they're not what I think they are after everything they've done to me. I have a lot more to be concerned about than Jarvis. I don't intend to ignore him if he does anything else on Earth, but right now, I have no reason to go after him."
When Flare later apologized for her outburst. The Knight would just close her eyes. Her anger hadn't died down yet. "Just don't let it happen again. You have your reasons to be upset... But don't accuse me of anything like that, especially not when you're asking for my help.", she would give just one more warning about that, but for now she'd let the matter rest. Well, she'd been pushed to the brink of her anger again, the Saiyan would glance off to the side of the throne room, trying to keep herself composed. Excalibur just sighed.
Flare proceeded to ask how the Knight had been. "Could be much better. I've had countless betrayals by my closest friends, and the other half of them end up dying in battle... To be honest with you, I've started doubting that I'm strong enough to keep Earth safe. I'm starting to think it needs a lot more than any single warrior, or group of warriors...", the Albino Saiyan responded. Her anger had fallen slightly, though now she was firmly planted in her Super Saiyan form for the time being. At least she mastered it as well as her base form.
No more fatigue while maintaining it.
WC: 1,007 Total WC: 2,012 ________________ Super Saiyan Full Power PL: 7,550,112
That power… why couldn’t it be hers? Even in her own super elemi form, she felt it would not be enough. She didn’t grow up wanting to be all strong and shit, but it would have helped days ago. Atsuko was quick to shut down the fire elemi’s attitude with her, rightly so. It was nice to see that she at least could take it without cutting someone’s legs off.
All she had to say before this only made her think more on her actions. There was a lot more nuance to it, huh? She was the earth’s guardian, she had her brother to deal with. A Nasu, one she probably felt energy from before. Jarvis was a concern, but not a priority. Shizen could be willingly complacent now, even without Flare in the picture. Peace talks with the Saiyan alliance... Right. It was silly to think her own personal and group quals compared to that of a guardian’s.
[“Then hunting him down is out of the picture… And you mentioned a sorcerer? Know them by a name?”] Flare’s telepathic voice lightened up. Seemed she would be a bit easier to deal with now that she had that out of the way. If the Saiyaness wasn’t going to help her directly, maybe there was another way? Atsuko had mentioned training, but she knew the girl used swords. Flare was more a fist in the face sorta gal. Yet, with Shizen’s sword… maybe facing whatever stood in her way with it would feel redeeming. [“Train me then. If you can’t do it yourself, then getting lessons from someone like yourself could help immensely.”] Even if Shizen, the one she was mainly doing this for, didn’t have the sense to want to be saved anymore, she would have to force her hand and claim vengeance against Jarvis and this sorcerer. Perhaps more if there is someone else possibly pulling the strings. [“I don’t usually swordplay. Ya know, I like roughening up the ladies and gents with good ole foot and knuckle. But… I do have a sword. And I think if I’m going to do any slicing, it’ll be with it in particular..”] Maybe Atsuko wouldn't take it up on just that note though. She was a busy woman after all.
[“Earth is my home, same as you. If I could just be strong and raise to a formidable power… I’ll promise to help?”] There were probably several others ahead of her who the saiyan already tutored the likes in. She wasn’t exactly special in terms of power. Maybe in growth? Debatable, she had seen Atsuko and Bernael skyrocket before her. What then, to prove her worth if Atsuko had already known Flare’s full power? Controlling it?
[“Ya know, maybe if...”] This would be a test to see how well she could hold conversation out of meditation first. Slowly, open eyed traced the back walls of the chamber. [“Testing testing.”] She still made sure she had use of her mind before she went to stand up. Nothing wrong there either. Slow to start, the fire elemi’s hair would start to turn to fire from the tips. Her enraged form, typical that it was easy to get into. Now… that other form… Honestly, she had little recollection of it due to sheer anger. Instead of focusing anger into it, she focused… resolve, confidence, and determination. Feelings which she would push frontmost into her. Her hair suddenly caught onto the flames of the tips and roared into life. From the roots down her hair was again consumed by fire. Her eyes glowed a more tame orange in this new light. Little fires appeared under her feet, but the chamber itself was made to be resilient. That crazy fire aura around her still spurred around like a jackalope. Strands of fire whipped around her carelessly and the room got extremely hot… Her own manor was fireproof - fortunately. Nothing was getting lit aflame from the surge of power she put out in demonstration.
“Whoa!” Flare looked at herself in this form, seeing the aura and fires whipping around and off her. The young flame had ran fingers through her hot hair and, sure enough, it felt like burning fire. All wavy and like. Everyone knew of a Super Saiyan, but this? This just felt all too like it looked. [“Hey, did ya feel that? I know it’s not, but I FEEL like a super saiyan now. This is so weird, and the name for it is probably cliche as shit, but it feels… right. Super Elemi, huh?”] it was not as significant as Atsuko’s, but it was different for the engineer. Focused and able, the young flame continued on to see how well conversation went with it.
[“And you’re right about Earth needing more than just warriors. The world could do a lot with my intellect. Not to brag, heh.- How I’ve been myself though? I’ve been feeling like shit. But yeah, I don’t know how… but… I just learned how to do telepathy about ten minutes ago too?”] She seemed fairly competent. Even though the young flame was stunned herself by the progress of her sensing and telepathy. In Flare’s own Super Elemi form she seemed to act more quickly than before though. Thoughts were transferred faster as she seemed on a power high. [“Don’t know if it’s raw determination or if I just started picking things up a lot easier since I got stronger! Could ya explain that to me?”]
It seemed that all of Atsuko's responses made Flare fall silent and more carefully consider her words. On some level, the Knight could understand that rage, how blinding it was when you first accessed it. She recalled what happened the first time she transformed into a Super Saiyan... She had forsaken everything just to take down her enemy, the Saiyan Prince. Because of that she ignored the danger that Jarvis fell into. She paid no heed to anyone wrapped up in that battle, and Komatsu lost his life. Even when they started trying to resolve things peacefully, she was taunting the Saiyans and warning them off...
In short, she was an idiot. But a powerful one, that all enemies knew not to screw with... Or so she thought. Nasu hadn't learned a damn thing. Now she was just waiting for the inevitable storm that would come about because she had him exiled, never to return to Earth. She wanted to give that fate to the entire Saiyan Alliance, but the one thing stopping her right now was her little brother. Komatsu... Somehow, he was convincing her to stay her hand, which took a monumental amount of effort on his own part.
The Saiyan lightly sighed as she recalled all of that. Luckily Flare would kick up conversation again, asking if she knew the Sorcerer by name. "I don't. But I'm going to guess they're in Makai. I was able to sense their energy alongside Nakiya's. I know who the Demon Queen is, and I'm betting she knows the Sorcerer too. She's not the type to just be unaware of something like that. I can't say if they're aligned together or not... But it wouldn't surprise me if they were.", the Albino Saiyan explained. The Kais told her all about the threats to the universe...
Or at least, what could easily be known. But she still didn't have a name to the sorcerer, everything else she learned on her own after being forced into Makai. That was the only saving grace of what happened when Nasu stabbed her in the back. In hindsight she should have known that he was going to do that. The heartless prick. After that, the Fire Elemi would request to be trained, which prompted the Albino Saiyan to arch a brow. She was that eager to get the power, huh? But she could sense Jarvis right now...
That was too much power to try and close the distance on. "You realize even if I train you personally, I won't be able to make you as strong as he is; at least not anytime soon. It's going to take an immense amount of effort on your part.", the Albino Saiyan would give her response. The simple truth was, the 'God King' was actually managing to close the distance on Atsuko and Nasu now... There was still a significant gap between them, but he was getting there. One day he might actually be an equal threat to her.
While she still had Nasu to deal with, that was too much of a risk in her opinion. That was why she kept pushing herself, she needed to be ready to face all fronts. The easiest way was to be the strongest between her and Nasu. If she could keep him outpaced, then a fight breaking out wouldn't matter... Unless Jarvis decided to team up with him. But she knew that wouldn't happen, if only because her older brother was too much of a stubborn jackass. One redeeming quality in a sea of horrible ones, that prompted a smirk out of her.
It was then that Atsuko felt a power spike from Flare. Interesting... The power of a Super Saiyan, roughly. Slightly above one entering the flawed transformation, but below someone who has called out it's full power. But what it most reminded her of was the transformation that Ayami accessed... There must have been an intense emotional trauma for that to happen, and, she already knew well what it was. "I'll admit that it's an impressive power, but we're facing enemies that have far surpassed the power of a Super Saiyan at this rate. You'd need to match at least the second form."
The Albino Saiyan stated. "I could indeed help you to control it... I could teach you my Martial Arts as well; it can be used with more than just swords. However we'll need to train in a specific area to do so.", the Saiyan would finally give her answer. Flare then asked another interesting question, about why she was learning so much in a short amount of time... Especially without anyone's aid. Atsuko just smirked once more. "I think it takes more than determination. I think the Elemi aren't too different from the Saiyans. Quick Learners, and all that."
She stated. "I was able to master my Martial Arts within a single day... Hell, in a single training session. I was able to perfect several other techniques with similar pace, at that. All I can tell you is that power does make it easier to perform new feats, but only up to a certain point. There's a limit to what everyone is capable of. Make sure you pace yourself and learn what you'll need to succeed against your foes.", the Albino Saiyan explained to the Fire Elemi as best as she could. She really only had her own feats, and the feats of her students to go off of.
"Finally... Though it might sound difficult, you'll need to learn how to control your emotions, bend them to your will rather than the other way around. I know the concept sounds confusing, but it's an important lesson. If you train with me, we will be going over that... So make sure that this is what you'd really want.", the Saiyan then finished. In the end the decision was still in Flare's hands. Atsuko wasn't opposed to teaching Flare, but... There was just one catch to all of this.
"If I do train you. Don't go after Jarvis until you're ready. Promise that."
Flare would take the compliment about her impressive state as it came and slowly clamber out of the chamber as she listened to Atsuko respond in kind to her questions and pleas. She didn’t care what effort it would take, she had shown as much. The young flame technically had plenty of time as she was sure Shizen wasn’t in immediate danger… She preferred it be a quick method. Atsuko was right though, even in her growth spurt in power she wasn’t going to just breeze up to Jarvis within a few days or weeks. It will take time.
[“I’m willing to do whatever it takes Atsuko. Excruciating trials, taking licks from ya. Whatever.”] Flare stretched some limbs out in her garage. The cars were taking pretty well to the sweltering heat she was putting off. Out of the corner of her eye she could see a house maid flee the room once the heat started flooding the entire room though. [“Some time is better than no time. If I’m needing to go beyond this form, if that is possible, then so be it.”] Atsuko rambled off some of her own feats which seemed even more ludicrous than what she just accomplished herself. Elemi and Saiyans were equatable to a point, and she had a point. Their forms worked off the same anger from Flare’s experience.
[“Yeah… I feel like stepping outside in this form might set the surrounding trees on fire. As fantastical as that might sound, it’s not exactly something I want to be doing.”] Control over this form would be key. Control over any form she might stumble into would be key. If she cannot control herself it would end up the same as last time. The cost… her life, most likely. Though it seemed one could come back, she didn’t have any plans to just up and die to find out. [“Teach me how to control myself on multiple levels if that is what it takes.”] And then the promise. Jarvis. She wasn’t to go face him until she was ready. By Atsuko’s say or her own? Probably the former since she was the teacher. Not that she was looking to fight Jarvis when he’d still crush her.
[“I promise. I wasn’t going to be so stupid anyways… trying to face Jarvis when I am not ready. No, I’ll make sure I’m ready for that. Next time I’m not going to be just smacked around like a bug.”] If thoughts could be sincere, this would be it. She really just didn’t want to feel so weak and get stepped on… didn’t want to lose Shizen. Because it was probably time to go eat the young flame calmed herself down and, for the first time, voluntarily powered out of her Super form. The heat and flames dissipated from around her.
[“Just tell me when you can be free. I still have a gravity machine I need to use to bolster myself physically. Unless your lookout accommodates for the machines I will wait that much out. Perhaps see the fruits of my physical training first before coming to you for martial training. Sound good? Because I’m going to go ahead and eat, then get ready to work out.”] She stepped on out of the garage. As she opened those double doors the lingering heat from before rushed into the lobby and hit a few of the morning maids. Across the room, Auntie had just clambered out of the dining and kitchen areas to get her. She had her maid clothing back on as she stowed them away elsewhere while she cooked. The aroma of gravy, biscuits, and some sweet pie filled the room and came into the lobby after Tabitha.
[“... Anyways, Thanks. We can catch up a bit more in person. Never really got around to that, huh.”] She’ll leave the saiyan hanging now as she just followed Auntie and the others into the dining room to eat. There was little that cheered her up more than food, talk, and some good pie. Inside the dining hall, one would notice a maid tampering with the thermostat to set the Ac on overdrive. Auntie didn't seem to bat an eye, so it must have been allowed due to the fire elemi.
"So child, how did it go? I heard and felt you... letting a bit go there. Scared one of the newbies right out of her outfit just about." The old lady sat in the chair next to the armchair at the head of the table, where Flare usually sat. The other maids eventually took their own seats and smiled, thanked Flare and each other, then started eating.
"Ya, sorry. Had to show Atsuko something." Flare shrugged and just decided to forget about all her troubles for now by... indulging in the many breakfast foods sprawled across the table. The maids done the same. "It was nice thought. Weird, but nice. Felt like I had a needle constantly poke at my head." Which was how it was suppose to feel. So that's a good thing.
"Ahh, that's good. Very good. You learn so fast... I'm happy."
Flare said that she was willing to do whatever it took in order to match up to Jarvis somehow, from excruciating trials to fighting the Knight personally. That much was admirable, but it was also foolhardy. A warrior needed to know when not to place themselves in danger, that would be another lesson she would impart to the Fire Elemi if she were really going to become a student of the Albino Saiyan... Still, she was patient enough to wait it out as long as it took. Some time really was better than no time at all, and the fact that Flare could see that...
Well, it did show that she learned at least a bit of control over her emotions. It still needed work, but that was why she was asking for help. Hmm... Well there was certainly a form beyond what Flare had accomplished, she saw that much in Ayami, and she knew that the Elemi were capable of much more, period. All of the races were, they just needed to tap into that potential somehow. There was one surefire way to do that, intense training, not just for Martial Arts, but practically for every day. That was why Atsuko had such a 'godlike power' now.
"Alright... You seem to value patience and caution. That's good, a clouded mind isn't going to help you in any fight. But it would spell certain death against Jarvis... He knows how to press buttons, and he'll want reactions out of you.", the Saiyan explained. Flare would certainly be one of the more interesting students... But not one that was beyond Atsuko's capabilities to teach, the only one like that would probably be Nasu, for a variety of reasons. She'd almost train anyone as long as it wasn't him. He didn't deserve the power of Excalibur.
She was certain the feeling was mutual about Natto's Martial Arts. She wasn't a "True Saiyan" and she wasn't "carrying on the legacy", so by that logic she didn't deserve to know it. That was fine. Then a surprising moment occurred, Flare promised that she wasn't going to be reckless about this... It may have seemed a simple thing, but it did earn her more than a few points in convincing the Saiyan in helping her. "Good. I have no qualms about teaching you if you really are willing to learn, then.", she would then respond.
"Alright. I'll let you finish up your own training in the Gravity Chamber; I'm going to suspect that it wouldn't do anything to make me stronger. I'll be able to advance myself more here on the Timeless Lookout. When you're ready, I'll be right here to train you.", the Knight replied. After that the Fire Elemi thanked her, and admitted to some regret about not catching up in person. The Saiyan sighed. "Yeah... Seems like Earth gets too hectic anymore for it.", the Albino Saiyan stated. After that, their telepathic connection closed. Seemed like that was the end of it for now.
Atsuko would stand up from her throne. "Going back into training already?", the woman in red asked. Atsuko just gave a calm nod. "I am. Training against Saiyans in the Pendulum Room... Does a lot for venting my frustrations, and it's still the best method of training. Sadly it's still not that difficult. I guess I really am getting into an entirely different league... Wonder if Mother and Father had the same difficulties when it came to training...", the Knight mused aloud as she began walking towards the Pendulum Room once more, Excalibur keeping pace with her through the halls.
"You still care about them?", the Sacred Sword asked. "It's... Complicated. I think on some level I won't just not care about them at all, but I've come to hate my family and my race... I'm beginning to feel like the feeling is mutual, too.", the Knight would reply to her closest friend. The only one that hadn't turned on her or died... Excalibur had been there through every step of the way in her life. If there was one person she could trust without any hesitation, it was her red clothed 'doppelganger'. At times it felt like they were facing everything alone...
"You know... It doesn't have to be 'two against the world', for lack of a better phrasing. Isn't that why you started taking up students?", Excalibur chimed in once more. Atsuko would just nod lightly. "It was... But now I realize I've been putting them at risk. Everyone I care about is way in over their heads. I don't even know why I agreed to train Flare, I think I'll just fail her, too.", the Knight responded. "You can't keep shouldering burdens like this... Not everything is your fault or your failure.", the Sacred Sword protested.
The Knight would just sigh. Back in the Pendulum Room, and standing atop the runes which would teleport it's users to different places, different 'timelines'. All falsified, of course. But the training and the battles were very much real, not enough that the people were in risk of dying, or at least, Atsuko wasn't. In fact she'd been purposely seeking out some of the hardest possible 'settings' and could still barely find anything that properly challenged her. She wasn't about to run off and fight with Nasu again, even though she was certain that not holding back would shift things a bit more into her favor.
Atsuko would just look over at Excalibur. "Someone has to take responsibility. I'm the Guardian of Earth and I haven't been doing the greatest job at it.", after having said that, the pair would be 'transported' to an entirely new locale. The Albino Saiyan already going back into her training. One way or another she was set on becoming stronger than Nasu, she wasn't afraid of breaking herself in the process. Nasu had done so much worse than any of this, and now she was going to rise above it. Make him regret doing that to her.
One way or another...
