The voice had came from above.
Its sultry tone, was one that sent chills down her spine, an action which she had aspired to have for herself one day. Someone who desired power like her, would need this kind of soothing voice, if she wanted to have people follow her word without question.
Her eyes had looked up at the ceiling, where she came face to face with the upside down Majin female, who smirked at her, amused. She couldn't even find herself feeling upset about this, and only watched as the pink woman turned herself over, and landed down.
The ability to fly without the use of a different form like hers, was more than useful. But it was also just as curious as well. She didn't have the need for such a method, though for this to be one for these group of creatures, said a lot about their place in society. Taking a closer look at the woman, she found to her surprise, the military uniform had been replaced by a new outfit.
With a striped dress shirt, and long skirt, she looked more like a teacher. If this couple really did have kids, then she really had no trouble with keeping up a youthful appearance. The thought flushed her cheeks, before her mind was able to settle.
"Welcome to our home! We were wondering what you really looked like. Very interesting technique."
Praise wasn't really what she wasn't expecting either, nor her hand being taken and led over to the kitchen, where the large male she had seen, seemed to be the one making the food. His attire was different as well, though it wasn't anything fancy.
Just a shirt and jeans, which made sense if you weren't really planning on going anywhere. Amazing they were able to change clothes so fast, and find time to wait for her. She wasn't even sure exactly why she was being greeted with such hospitality.
Was what she heard about these creatures really true? They acted so human, that it was difficult to believe. The woman sat down across from her, hands folded on the table, and she couldn't help but feel like she was apart of some interview, seeing that.
"Lunch will be ready soon, but we're curious to know why you followed us. Is there anything we can do to help?"
We. So she must be speaking for the both of them then. They were really being polite about all of this. She wasn't even in the mood to really turn the situation around so that she would be the one asking the questions. These turn of events were odd, and while she would always take care to be cautious, this kind of hospitality was one that reminded her too much of almost her parents.
"Thanks for having me."
Strange as it was to say for just walking into their home.
"I've heard a lot about your kind, so I was hoping you would have someone my age, who I could learn from."
"Oh? Not from East City, are ya? We do have a daughter, but she's in school right now. If you're willing to wait, she'll be around in a couple of hours."
"I see..."
They hadn't really talked all that much yet, but that wasn't a bad thing. She was able to sort out her mind away from this familiarity, and bring herself back into talking like she was the better being, using words like your kind, and telling the minimum.
"I'm afraid I don't really have that kind of time."
"Understandable. Well there's plenty of us around, but if you're looking to have a fight, did you check the outskirts of the city? You're sure to find someone willing to help."
With the height that she had flew at, she wasn't able to really pay much attention to her surroundings. But if the info was really right, then she really didn't have to been seen this closely by the locals after all. She was tired however, so couldn't be helped.
"I haven't, but I can try."
"And I'm sure you'll be happy with the results. We would help you ourselves, but we just got back, and fighting is the last thing that are on our minds."
The lunch that they were preparing, were placed down in front of her, where it turned out to be some soba. Looked and smelled better than anything she had ever eaten ordering takeout. Homemade? Jeez, these two really were giving her other thoughts.
"Don't be afraid to dig in! We have plenty."
That had been a rather odd visit.
Walking out of the apartment, and enjoying the breeze that was created from her exit, she thought back to what had happened while she was in there. The couple, who had confirmed that they were parents, fed her lunch, and started asking about herself.
With the way the pink woman kept on offering mediums in what was shared, it eventually became a conversation involved with revealing that she was a Vampire, and her learning that the couple had no issues with killing, but it was just easier not to.
Seeing the life that they had, which really only required putting some time in the military, she couldn't say it was a bad one to live. Though it was far from being the kind of luxury that she dreamed of living, and could be accomplished easier with death.
By the end of the meal, she had been given quite a hefty amount of zeni, in what was supposed to be compensation for the time that had been spent talking. The money was placed in her slingbag, and she still found what happened to feel rather surreal.
But the proof it happened, she could feel from her bag possessing more weight than she remembered it to be. Exactly how much she had been given, she wasn't sure of, although she had seen enough cash wrapped up in rubberbands, to know it was more than a hundred.
With this new success, and intel on where to search for next, she wasted no time into shapeshifting into her bat form. Confidence was key to any goal, and after a pleasant experience like that, she was ready to get back to the reason she came in the first place.
Flying through the city, there were surprised or shocked faces all around, as her approach towards her destination, came with a bit of her own fun. The dives that she had occasionally made were close, and gave off the impression that she wanted to lunge at them.
But for most people who saw her, the sight of her alone was enough to elicit these reactions she enjoyed giving. It was worth the amount of exertion and effort that she had to put into her wings, which would only help her continue to grow stronger.
Unlike her trip to this city, making it to the outskirts, where there was mostly just nature, hadn't taken as long at all. Even before she had gotten here and changed back into her regular form, she was able to hear sounds of rumbling coming up ahead.
It was far enough from the city, for things to not go and backfire, but not the kind of distance to where it would take her an hour to get to. Frankly, she was rather pleased at the luck she had been given so far, into reaching what goals she was hoping to.
But she wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and as much as she had enjoyed the hospitality that she had received, it wouldn't compare to what she would hopefully be able to buy, using the money that she was given. The sooner she got this over with, the less she would have to worry about as well. A bit of sweat dripped from her body, with the effort that was put in to get here.
With the cool breezes that kept brushing against her body, it really putted things into perspective, on how different this city was from West City. Her hometown being surrounded by a wasteland, meant it was nothing but exhausting heat outside of the city.
Wasn't enough to give up life in the place she grew up in, though it was nice knowing she was able to do this. If she had still been just a human, traveling to a place like this would have taken a good couple of years, with the stress on education usually being a priority. But as a Vampire, she could do as she pleased, knowing she wasn't going to actually age anytime soon.
Finally reaching the source of the noise, she could see pink flesh in the distance, of who was firing into a crater that was made, along with punching and kicking in the air. It was impressive, and a lot more aggressive than she thought she would see from a Majin. But thinking back to the conversation she had with the couple, and how nonchalant they were about killing, it made sense.
Though when she had first came here to East City, she had actually been looking forward into breaking the creature's innocence. This girl however, seemed like she was pass being good-natured and nice, which was both satisfying, and disappointing.
As she had approached the girl, she had slowly stopped hiding her energy, as she usually did when she wanted to tease her prey. But the closer she got, the more she stopped suppressing the aura of strength she had, which was likely why the Majin turned around.
That look of surprise was what she wanted to see.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I'll be making you into my slave."
