Wind howled as it blew and whipped around Piyano's body, the intense breeze moved with enough force to whistle a sharp echo through the rough plateaus of Yunzabit Heights. The strong gusts even possessed enough force to make Piyano's clothes whip harshly around his body, caught in the stiff breeze his pants slapped heavily against his calf's and thigh's. Only Piyano's coat and scarf were unaffected by the mighty winds, the Namekian had recently paid to have fifty kilos of weight sewn into his coat and scarf. The increased weight was proving to be a powerful drag upon his green body, but Piyano could not think of any better means for training.
With his movements and power limited by the weighted clothes Piyano knew he would be training twenty four hours a day so long as he stayed dressed. The itch to remove his obstructing articles gnawed at the back of his mind even as the Namekian just stood at the edge of a cliff gazing out at the obsessive landscape before, but Piyano would not give into the urge. Piyano had come to the empty lands rumored to be the 'end of the earth' because he knew that the lands were devote of life for miles in all directions. This meant that Piyano could train in any way or manner he saw fit without risk to being discovered, disturbed, or putting civilians in harms way of errant energy blasts.
Still the looming haunt that was Yunzabit Heights was more intense than Piyano had been expecting. Overhead the sky was permanently dark and rich with gray clouds begging to release torrents of rain and thunder. Jagged mountain peaks lined the area, separating the heights from the outside world. Meanwhile deep crevices lined the earth in all directions for miles, each pit deep enough to kill a untrained human should one fall down them. Than there was the plateaus, dozens of the flat topped mountains jutted up from the stones. Turning the Heights into a virtual maze, this landscape was both the harshest and deadliest lands Piyano had been able to find upon the Earth, which made it the perfect place to train.
Deciding he had better begin before the rain and lightning began Piyano sucked in a deep breath of chill air, focused his KI as best he could with his weighted armor on and stepped off the side of the cliff. Piyano had thought the wind was intense before, but he now realized the constant blast of air that permeated the Heights was nothing compared to the wind drag upon his body as the Namekian fell. Air pressed against his body like a vice, only pushing harder with each dozen feet or so Piyano dropped. The cliff was exactly seven hundred feet in height, Piyano had checked before jumping. At one hundred feet down the alien shuddered from the strain upon his limbs, at two hundred feet down Piyano felt his lips, eye lids, and antenna flopping against the wall of air.
By three hundred feet the man was struggling to breath, it becoming harder and harder for him to concentrate on maintaining control over his building KI. At four hundred feet down Piyano could no longer feel his arms or legs, it became a thing of will power alone to swing his arms down in front of him. Touching at the thumb tips with his fingers spread wide Piyano struggled to channel all his building KI into his palms. The Namekian did not release his charging energy however, he couldn't. At least not before he reached six hundred feet. At five hundred feet Piyano fell past a colored marker, a piece of red cloth he had tied around a jut of rock along the cliff surface. Piyano knew a second cloth, yellow this time would signify he had reached six hundred feet.
The weighted clothes dragged Piyano down even faster than he had been anticipating, including this clothes into his training could greatly push his potential. Or it could kill him the green man thought as his eyes spotted the yellow marker ahead, no less than another twelve seconds of free fall away. Passing the yellow marker several heart beats later Piyano released his charged energy straight down into the earth. A massive blast of KI launching from the Namekian's hands collided into the stones below, shards of rock exploded in all directions creating a massive crater in the landscape beneath Piyano's rapidly dropping body.
More importantly than what was happening upon the ground however was what took place no more than thirty feet above the newly form crater. The stress upon Piyano's bones made the man think his limbs would snap under the sudden reversal of forces upon his body. Gravity's powerful clutch upon Piyano found itself loosened as Piyano's charged KI wave arrested his fall, than reversed it all together as Piyano found himself rocketing skyward. The thick beam of KI boosted the man up another hundred feet or so before Piyano felt his mighty blast fade away from him. Without the force of the KI lifting him any longer Piyano had reach out and scratch at the cliff face, his hands only barely finding a hand hold before he started to fall again.
Breathing ragged, shallow, breaths Piyano marked the cliff with his claws. The mark was intended to be his measuring post for future training. Tired as the Namekian was he clung to the wall for several moments to catch his breath before he reached hand over hand above him, scaling the rest of the cliff back to his starting position. Piyano fell into his thoughts as he climbed, he knew people would ask why he didn't simply climb to the top? The Namekian knew flying would defeat the point to his training however, and so the man put hand over hand, foot over foot as he pulled himself back to the top.
The climb took Piyano nearly a hour of work to accomplish, even worse was the three separate times he had nearly fallen. Whether from his grip being to loose or a chuck of stone giving way beneath his weight. In the end however Piyano made the top once more. The Namekian nearly collapsed as he sprawled out on the flat surface, his right leg still dangling over the edge of the cliff. Limbs stretched in a spread eagle Piyano sucked in air greedily as he recovered from the strain of the climb and the fall. Sweat glistened as it poured off the Namekian, his gaze locked onto the dark sky above as the urge to sleep clawed at his senses.
Piyano found a new thing to fight than, exhaustion. The Namekian had never believed that this method of training would be so fully depleting of his power. The green man refused to give up however, using his arms as a brace Piyano pushed himself into a seated position. Pulling his leg free of the edge Piyano crossed his limbs and closed his eyes against the dark environment. Falling into meditation and the deep breathing exercises of his people. Piyano used his mental training to reach deep inside himself, pulling out power from reservoirs and well springs he had subconsciously trained over time, but never consciously accessed before. The effort took several minutes however, and a cold rain began to fall over the land as Piyano prepared himself for a second drop.
Blue flashed across the dark clouds, lightning streaking forth before the bellow of thunder clashed against the many stone walls of Yunzabit Heights. The great sound echoed for miles around, and Piyano decided the next streak of lightning would be his signal. Sitting in focused silence Piyano waited several minutes for another bolt to stampede across the sky. Every second he waited the Namekian's nerves cried out at him. "He was too tired!" a thought warned before Piyano crushed it with the weight of his willpower. "You need more time!" came another dark warning, Piyano sneered at his trepidation. The green man would not allow fear to take hold of his life. "You will di-"
BOOM!
brillant light flashed threw the air and a gigantic blast of sound ringed throughout Piyano's ears as lightning and thunder claimed the region with their power. His doubts cut off be the signal Piyano leaned forward over the edge until his body was once more falling fast. KI circulated through the Namekian as he used the pinnacle of his focus to charge his power. The feeling of falling was much as it came for the first drop, only more intensely did Piyano feel the strain and the pain grip him as he fell. By three hundred feet down Piyano felt his confidence wavering, his build up of KI was not as powerful as it had been the first time around. A very real fear that Piyano would collide with the ground hung heavily in the mans thoughts, a dark shadow that gleefully hinted at his death.
By four hundred feet Piyano thought to simply use his flying technique, but at his current distance and speed the Namekian wasn't sure he could successfully stop before his body smashed upon the rocks below. Especially with his weighted clothing weighing him down. No the Namekian knew he only truly had one option, his original training plan. The red marker of five hundred feet passed Piyano by and the Namekian screamed loudly as he forced himself to put his everything into the energy coiling around his outstretched palms. The yellow marker passed him by....
"KKKKKKKAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Piyano shouted as he released his pent up power, a eye burning stream of yellow power came flooding out of the man barely a dozen feet before he hit the ground. Once more Piyano felt as if his arms would tear free from his shoulders as the massive KI wave arrested, than reversed his fall. The previous crater on grew in size as Piyano's second blast, fueled by the fear of death, cleared away even more stone and debris. Propelled into the air from his energy attack Piyano's tired eyes scanned the cliff face as he bypassed his first marking in the stone. Even with his success Piyano found that he had only managed to reach an additional ten feet in height as he scrambled to latch onto the cliff. Marking his second progress marker into the hard rock Piyano had to cling for twenty minutes before he found the strength needed to begin his second climb.
A full two and a half hours passed this time around when Piyano finally breached the crest of the cliff. Drenched in sweat and rain water the Namekian had no energy left for another attempt, no energy left for anything other than sleep. Luckily Piyano had thought ahead and set up a camp beneath a low hanging ridge of stone at the top of the plateau. A small cave in the ridge bore a campfire prepped for use and a sleeping roll tucked against a inner wall. Laying face down on the cold stone top of the plateau Piyano did the only thing he could do in his exhaustion, he crawled.
The cave was right before Piyano, no more than twenty five feet away from him. Digging his claws into the stone Piyano pulled himself along the ground inch by inch. The cold rain actually served to aid the man, making the ground slick with moisture and slippery to the touch. When droplets of rain streaked down Piyano's face to the corners of his mouth the Namekian licked the water up, his peoples biology transforming the clear liquid into nutrients; adding to Piyano's waning strength. Many minutes of struggle saw Piyano finally reach his cave, propping himself up against his rolled bed mat Piyano only just managed to lit a few matches and toss them upon his waiting campfire before sleep claimed him.
Many hours later Piyano awoke to a level of soreness he had never before experienced. Every muscle screamed at him with deep aches and memories of the climbs and falls the day before. Looking to his campfire Piyano found little more than glowing coals, but the provided heat was at least enough to offer some small comfort. Turning to the cave mouth Piyano could see that the winds and rains had fled the region, bright rays of sunlight cascading into the cave in their place. Smiling at the sight Piyano settled in to rest more, rummaging up a canteen filled with water the Namekian sat back and gazed into the warm rays and bright blue sky outside his shelter content to rest up before he tried his training program again. It would be a few days but Piyano knew he would attempt his fall and climb training more and more until he grew stronger, until he could blast himself back up over the top of the steep cliff.
End.
