Another day, another dirty nappy. "It's a good thing I can just keep making these thing's isn't it you little smelly thing?" the blonde hybrid asked of her squirming offspring as she tried to put a fresh pair on him. It was hard to imagine that he was... "Huh, think you're about fifteen months old now Okra..." she mused, scratching her head with her tail as she tried to work out the maths behind it all. The fact that he was born and raised for six months inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber really did not help out with trying to figure out birthdays. Okra in turn just tilted his head up at his mother and gurgled a little as he continued to wriggle. The demonic Saiyan sighed before shrugging. "Oh well... think I can get away with missing the first birthday for now. Things have been a little... hectic around here lately." she said with a slight chuckle, although the chuckle was anything but happy sounding.
Things really had been going nuts though... there was some sort of nonsense going on in the mountains, something had happened at the Saiyan Outpost, and apparently there was some new King or something for Earth. She hadn't really been paying that much attention to the Earth's situation admittedly, mostly cus she'd been distracted by Okra and making sure he couldn't get past the fence she'd been trying to make around the Lookout's edge. Although the fact that he'd recently started to float had not in the slightest bit helped her nerves. A baby getting too close to the edge of a thousand mile high platform was one thing... but him floating around all over the place was another thing entirely, especially since he didn't have full control over it yet and just randomly dropped now and then.
Trying to keep an eye on him had become a full-time job, which meant that she'd sadly been neglecting her training as well as trying to keep an eye on Atsuko. She hoped her half-sister was doing alright... Cambia hadn't seen her for a while now, and the Lookout was feeling rather quite empty. Not that she minded the quiet, it certainly made things easier concerning trying to get a certain someone to take his naps... but still. She shrugged as she finished putting on Okra's fresh new nappy, picked him up and decided to head outside for a walk. "Well, at least if its quiet that means there's no squabbling going on between Atsuko and Koma... seriously, if I could, I'd just lock those two in the Time Chamber for a day or two so they could work out the nonsense between them." she mused to herself, Okra's tail wrapping around his mother's arm as they went outside.

Now that Carmel had come to the grand and major decision to get off of her fluffy tail and go out to do something, she was immediately hit by a rush of indecision, mostly along the lines of her having never bothered to go much of anywhere before. Where would she even go? Was her idle dreams of making a school just to mess with people worth the trouble and effort it would take to do that? On that subject, how did one go about even starting a martial arts school?
Well, that was assuming that using your mind and ki to bully people counted as a martial art but hey, she could probably get away with it, it wasn’t as if all the aliens in the universe didn’t have some brand of weirdness going on, like those were monkeys. Okay, one crisis down! Now back to the which way should she go first bit, as tempting as it was to base her decision on where would be the most comfortable, well she was self aware enough to know how that would turn out and some portion of her actually wanted this to work out, so no taking the easy route!
“Okay, enough of this, there is a tried and true method for these things! The power of the stick!” With that declaration the fox tossed a random stick into the air, following its path until it landed in a direction, pointing right back at her house – okay no, she just said that she’d actually do this and she wasn’t that much of a quitter. Okay, opposite of her house, sure, she could work with that, just fly until she saw something!
-
In retrospect, randomly fly in a specific direction might be seen as reckless by most people but on the good side, it wasn’t as if she wasn’t seeing anything. There was that stupidly huge tower that she had started to see in the horizon and if a massive tower in the middle of nowhere wasn’t interesting, what was?
That was six hours ago.
“Why is that tower SO FAR AWAY!!!!” Carmel prided herself on being a reasonably calm fox, mostly because rage took way too much effort to sustain but this? Nope, this was nonsense and in fact, she was going to make some kind of teleportation technique just so that she never had to do this nonsense again. She imagined just how horrible this would have been if she was walking instead of flying and failed to supress the full body shudder. The person who made that tower must be some kind of sadist demon
Well sadist or not, after FAR TOO MUCH flying, she could finally see the massive thing getting closer instead of staying in the horizon, mocking her with its presence. And even better, she could see houses on it that looked far too well maintained for this place to be abandoned – wouldn’t that have been the kicker to this trip? The fox wobbled as she descended, dropping onto the floor from the last couple of feet in a heap, doing her best to hug the solid ground.
“Solid, not currently falling to my death, not a mirage. Yay.” Hey, she was plenty enthusiastic on the inside. Footsteps and an incredibly bright aura made her look up, but she still could not be bothered to get off the floor, instead stayed laid out like a throw rug as she talked.
“Greetings unknown person! I am Carmel Dulcis and I have to ask, what kind of person builds a massive top shaped building on the world’s longest pole in the middle of nowhere? No really, why?”

"Because this place isn't meant to be accessible by just anyone" A sudden voice came from above the little fox girl as Tomoroko descended towards the lookout. It was strange that she had been here twice already and she still hadn't found her daughter. Not that she had gone looking room by room... she was still anxious to meet the girl in the living world, feeling as if some strange wall had sprouted up between them. Sure they had only met one... in the after-life... but surely Kimiko understood..?
With a sigh Tomoroko landed on the tiles of the lookout, her tail wriggling away behind her indicating that she was by no means human, no matter how much she looked like it. She eyes the girl before the sight of Cambia and a small boy caught her eye. She raised an eyebrow at the pair, having never met Cambia herself and not knowing immediately who she was.
"This tower belongs to the Earth's Kami, a guardian who looks over the planet. Honestly, I don't think they really do much but kind of just... watch... but hey, to each their own. You," She said, motioning towards Cambia with her head as she turned away from the fox, instead facing the girl she could only assume was partially saiyan. It was odd how much she looked like Kimiko, though she could tell it wasn't her.
"Has Kimiko been here lately? I haven't been able to find her." Tomo asked bluntly, the politeness of introducing herself her seeming to have vanished as she was slowly starting to piece together the reason this girl looked so similar...
Cambia blinked at the sudden appearance of not just one, but two people! Okra for his part just gurgled, looking at the pair, with an especially long interest directed towards the woman with the tail like him and his mums. The Saiyan woman seemed to have a good grasp on what this place was, and the demonic Saiyan merely shrugged in response to the furry tailed animal woman's question. "Not a clue why it was built here... probably to have less visitors or door to door salesmen I guess." she said with a shrug before looking at the Saiyan woman.
"Kimiko?" she asked, her brain slightly fuzzy because of lack of sleep before the name clicked. "Oh right, you mean Atsuko. I forget that you guys from the Outpost keep calling her by her Saiyan name." the blonde hybrid said before sighing and shaking her head. "Sorry, but I haven't got any more clue than you do about where my sister's gone off to. All I do know is that she's not in either of the special rooms... I think." she said before Okra decided that his mother had spent more than enough attention on them and not enough on him. He proceeded to start to use his tail to tug at her hair a little, which caused Cambia to simply raise an eyebrow at the antics of her son.
"Oh I'm sorry, have I not been paying enough attention to you huh? I swear, you must get this from your uncle's side of the family Or your fathers... or its just a general all around male Saiyan thing." she said, poking him in the nose with her own tail, causing him to giggle a little. Cambia smirked a little before regarding the pair of them. "Eh, sorry. Name's Cambia, and the little tyrant here's my son Okra. So, what brings you here anyway?" she asked.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
Carmel glanced up at the new person, still not quite getting around to getting off of the floor. “So this is actually the Kami’s Lookout? I see what people meant about it stretching into the heavens then because wow this place is tall.” She really needed to practice a bit more if she’d have to make flights like this more often because this was just ridiculous. “So the Kami hides up here to avoid people and doesn’t do anything but play voyeur? Wow that sounds like a cushy job! Where do I sign up?” Getting to be lazy all the time without people complaining? That sounded like her kind of work!
At this point another conversation went on about people that Carmel knew nothing about, but she did get the name of the woman living up here apparently. “Saiyan? You mean those aliens that turn into gigantic weremonkeys? And special rooms? What really is up with this place?” And now her desire for knowledge was warring with her innate laziness and managing to beat out a win, the fox moving from lying down to sitting up.
“Well I came here because unknown giant tower and I wanted to explore. Well that and I am currently trying to gather some information from ki users; why do you girls fight? What drives you to get stronger? And do any of you got any martial school advice by chance? I’ve been trying to work out what I want to do with my life and ki seems to be one of those things I actually enjoy. Huh, thinking about it, ending up on a Kami’s tower seems pretty convenient for getting worldly advice.” She mused, tail waving slowly in the air.
"Oh, by the way, where is the Kami? Are they somewhere else on this tower? It seems big enough...."
"Right... sorry I guess she wants to be called Atsuko." Tomoroko apologized lowly, not too thrilled with the fact that Micaela went ahead and changed her name when she took her. She supposed she understood, but in the end she still felt that the whole mess her kids were in could be traced down to Tomo, Natto and Micaela... It w as a real pain in the ass, and part of the reason Tomo was looking for Atsuko now. She had really just wanted a chance to talk to her, to get to know her, no matter how hard that was going to be considering the circumstances.
It didn't look like she would get that chance today either though, as the saiyan girl informed her that Atsuko had actually not been seen on the lookout in some time. It was strange to think that the Earth's Kami was outright missing... Had something happened to her? She would have to investigate the demon realm further as she imagined that was the only place she would be taken too where she wouldn't get in contact with someone in her life...
Her attention was pulled away from Cambia and her own thoughts as the little one with the ears called her a weremonkey. Her eye twitched at that but she pushed up a smile to hide her annoyance.
"The forms are called Great Apes, or Oozaru. It's not a were anything as we 'usually' intend to transform into them." Tomoroko clarified as best she could without letting the girl see she had hit a nerve. It always annoyed her when they were referred too as monkeys or anything less than the proper word.
She was quick to return her attention to Cambia, her smile softening gently as she watched her turn to care for the child tugging away at her hair. Atsuko had been the only child she'd held so small... smaller in fact before she had given her to Micaela. Komatsu was the second, and he had been a little bit older then that child. She'd been so afraid back then... she wanted all her children out of incubation early but Natto had convinced her to leave Nasu alone... With Kimiko she had won that argument only to have to give her away. She never got to see Yamada beyond the month she spent on CC-83113... She finally had Koma in the end and she had to admit she didn't even hold onto him tightly enough.
A light sigh escaped her smile as her ears seemed to twitch when the girl finally introduced herself. Cambia. For some reason Tomo felt like she already knew that. It was the only logical explanation as to why she looked so much like her own daughter... and that was because she was her husbands bastard.
She felt her blood start to boil, her hand going to far as to balling into a fist. Although with a quick break and a moment to calm herself she opened her hand again and stared back at Cambia.
"So I finally get to meet the kid that's caused me so much grief hunh? Jeeze... I guess I owe it to him to keep my head. My name is Tomoroko, I'm Atsuko's birth mother." She introduced, once more glancing down to the littlest one among them. She was sure this didn't make any sense to her, and she seemed to be here for her own reasons. She would definitely welcome the distraction.
"Well, Carmel, I don't fight for any reason you should be worried about." She said as she pointed to the halo floating above her head.
"I'm dead, by all technicality of the term, but I keep getting stronger because even in the after-life, there are a lot of people I want to protect."
"The Kami does occasionally have to leave this place to deal with the occasional world-threatening forces of destruction. And there's no hazard pay... or any pay at all really." said Cambia with a smirk when the furry tailed girl suggested signing up for the cushy Kami job. When she asked about why they fought, the demonic Saiyan looked at the bundle of energy in her arms who was still looking over towards the Saiyan woman. "At the start, it was to survive. Now, its to make sure this little guy's got a better life than I had." she said with a simple shrug as if that was all there was to it.
Of course, when Tomoroko mentioned giving her grief, and introduced herself as Atsuko's mother, Cambia's leg stance shifted unconsciously into the Soy School's combat stance, and one hand went towards her sword's hilt whilst the other balanced her baby with the aid of her tail. The blonde hybrid caught herself in this position before slowly taking a breath and forcing herself to relax. So, this is Nasu, Komatsu and Atsuko's mum... the demonic Saiyan thought to herself as she looked the woman over, both hands returning to holding Okra. The baby for his part just looked up at his mother, then back to Tomoroko and tilted his head slightly, unsure about the sudden tension in the air.
"So... what brings you to the living world? If it's some notion of "getting back" at my mother for what she did through me, I'll tell you this here and now." she said, her eyes focusing on Tomoroko. "I am not her. That bitch abandoned me on this planet as soon as I could move and I didn't even know about this little piece of family history drama till after I met your eldest son." she said as she walked up towards the woman. "Now, I've got just four words for you." Cambia said before she held Okra out towards Tomoroko. "Meet your grandson grandma." the demonic Saiyan smirked, Okra for his part looking up at the woman then back to his mother, then back to the woman before he promptly declared in the loudest voice possible that his tiny body could manage, "Gama!" Okra reached out with both hands and his tail towards his newly declared grandmother, even if biologically speaking that wasn't technically the case.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
“Ah, so there’s the catch to the job although world threatening forces of destruction sound like something that would get everyone involved in the dealing with process unfortunately. That lack of pay might be a deal breaker though, so there is that.” Carmel went on smoothly, taking Cambia’s commentary in stride. Her reason for fighting was slightly unexpected though. “Really? I’m surprised that there wasn’t anything about protecting the world involved given that you’re living on top of the Kami’s Lookout but a mother looking out for her child, it’s sweet.” And it did make a simple sort of sense that a parent’s greatest motivation would be the wellbeing of their children.
Now on the side of this other apparently saiyan, well her ears started to twitch at the bit of….how to put it, the woman had that tone people got when they were starting to get annoyed but trying badly to hear it, something she’d heard quite a few times and gotten some good practice in doing herself what with how some people could be quite the pain when they were ready. What had her so riled up – oh the weremonkey bit.
“Why is it called a Great Ape anyway? Apes do not have tails, that’s pretty much the easiest way to tell a monkey from an ape. And quite frankly, history has long decided on this planet that when you transform under the light of a full moon and go on a rampage, you’re a were-something, intentional or not.” That honestly had always bothered her ever since she’d found out about saiyans in the first place. Ah well, whatever rocked their boat she supposed although she was probably just going to stick with calling the whole thing the weremonkey transformation.
Fortunately or not, the Saiyan woman – Tomoroko was her name huh? Well she got preoccupied with dealing with some sudden family drama that had the fox mildly concerned about what would happen if things got violent with a baby in the middle of things. Then things came to a cute enough conclusion even if Carmel could have done without ending up in the mix of that potential landmine. “Okay, that is one adorable baby.”
And it also served as a bit of a distraction to the fact that Tomoroko was apparently dead. “So the halo isn’t just decoration? Okay, I’ll start with the obvious; how are you here and solid if you’re dead? Are you some kind of super ghost?” And now the fox was getting well and properly confused.
It sounded like Cambia already had a rather rough start... Tomoroko couldn't help but feel some sense of relief that she did, but also felt guilty about it. One way or another she was still Natto's child, and she had made sure to give him a hell of a lot of gried for it and had sworn taht if she ever met the kid, she'd be just as much of a bitch to her as well. Now that she was face to face with the girl though, she wasn't sure how she felt.
She looked so much like Kimiko, who she thought had always looked like tomo herself. How was it then that Cambia resembled her? Was it because that demon woman had taken on her form back then? Tomo found she couldn't take her eyes off Cambia even though she was talking to Carmel. The fox girl's explanation was far too irritating for the current situation, Tomoroko bringing her hands up to her head and rubbing her temples before letting out a long sigh.
"To Earthlings it seems odd, yes, but we're not Earthlings, and we don't base our descriptions on what Earthlings think it should be. I don't particularly feel like going into the details but I'm sure my mother's got a history book or two stashed away on the ship if you really want to know the details." Tomo said in annoyance at the subject. Not only was it a touchy subject, but now Cambia was even getting into a fighting stance she knew all too well. Did the idiot girl really plan on fighting her just because of who she was? Tomoroko's eyes narrowed dangerously but she didn't move, waiting for Cambia to make the first strike.
"Listen kid. I've never wanted anything to do with you, let alone seek out revenge for something you didn't do. As much as I want to hate you... I'm stuck in the same damn situation Natto is so I can't really blame him anymore. Not to say I didn't give him hell for years about you." She stated seriously, though still lightly enough she might lighten up the tension between them. Tomo wasn't about to attack Cambia outright, but she wasn't going to be happy about being around her.
Her expression suddenly changed to a look of bewilderment as Cambia then took the child she had been holding and thrust him towards her, calling her a name she had hoped to not hear for a long time to come... 'grandma'. Her eye twitched at that though her eyes settled on Okra once more, looking the little guy up and down with a light pout to her lips.
"You watch your mouth kid" She told Okra as he called her gamma. She was quick to take Okra from Cambia though as it seemed the kid really wanted her to take him. She held him up at eye level with the same critical pout on her lips.
"I suppose he doesn't really have any grand-parents on your end hunh... Who's his father? He looks more like a saiyan than a demon..." With that she would poke at the tip of Okra's tail, and as soon as she thought Cambia wasn't watching, started making funny faces and sticking her tongue out at the little one.
Cambia shrugged at Carmel's commentary. "The world and I are... meh. To be honest, I wouldn't shed a tear if some of the bastards on this planet got wiped out." she said with a shrug. "As for the whole Great Ape thing... I think its something to do with translation." the demonic Saiyan suggested. "Oozaru is a Saiyan word that roughly translates into Great Ape in Earth's language..." she said with another shrug. When Tomoroko began to verbally defend herself, Cambia rubbed the back of her head a little and sighed, grumbling a little.
"Yeah well... if I ever meet him in the Afterlife, I'm gonna be giving him a punch in the teeth myself. A big if though given my track record." she said, partially agreeing with Tomoroko about the situation with Natto. Although the news that she was in the same boat as Natto was interesting... although that could probably spell more family drama down the line, which in turn meant even more trouble. Especially if the two Titan siblings as she'd come to calling Atsuko and Nasu got wind of it.
Cambia smirked though at Tomo's reactions towards Okra's declaration of her being "Gamma", even the way she eyed him up, whilst the baby eyed her up as well in his own innocent baby way. "He's not quite figured out the letter R just yet. But he's getting there. He likes to call Komatsu Heghog, as in hedgehog if that makes ya feel any better." she offered her before sighing and nodding at her surmisation. "Yeah... not exactly in any rush to introduce him to her." agreed the blonde hybrid before the topic of the father came up. "...Yeah... Okra's three quarters Saiyan, one quarter demon... and this part you maaay not like." said Cambia slowly, catching Tomo pulling faces at her baby. "His father... was Athren." she said, biting her lower lip a little. It was at this precise moment that the baby boy decided to give his new grandmother a... "present", giggling soon after the deed was done.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
“You have history books? Yep, that will do it, I want to know more about this one.” Carmel couldn’t quite hide her enthusiasm there, tail wagging quite eagerly at the thought of potentially getting something new and interesting to read. She did have herself quite the book collection for a reason and something about the race of fighters ought to be helpful for her future ends as well. “But an error in translation? Simple but would explain it and sometimes the simple really is the answer.” She rocked a bit on her feet, thinking on that while the two family members had out their family drama. She had no idea about anyone they were talking about after all.
Then the baby decided to do as babies do and while leaving things to play out might have gotten some easy laughs, Carmel decided to burn her good deed of the way with a flicker of telekinesis to at least keep her potential new book source mess free. Children were so much easier to deal with when you never had to physically touch them.
"I think Okra here is calling for a change in subject." Carmel added wryly.
"Athren?" Tomoroko asked curiously, looking at her with a completely bewildered expression. Was she supposed to know who this Athren was? Judging by the way she was acting yes but, she really couldn't place the name at all. She looked back over to Okra as if he would tell her, only to have him leave his oh so wonderful gift. Tomo scrunched up her nose, wrapping her tail around his waist before handing him back over to Cambia.
"I don't know if this Athren is a figure you guys have encountered, but I can't remember anyone by that name during the war... or before it for that matter. Regardless, sounds like a strong name, I"m sure Okra's going to live up to it." She said with a confident nod, taking a step away from Cambia and the baby so that she didn't get roped into diaper duty. She was the assistant to a kai, not a diaper changer! She was quick to look down to Carmel, smirking a bit at the fact that she was actually interested in Saiyan history.
"Well, you're welcome to the outpost whenever you want., so long as you don't cause trouble, I'm sure she'll let you read up to your hearts content. In fact, why don't we head over there now?" Too eager to leave diaper duty? Probably, but it was as good an excuse as any!
"Yeah... Athren used to be the guy in charge of the Saiyan Empire..." explained Cambia since apparently none of Tomoroko's kids had given her an update on the whole galactic situation since she'd been back for who knows how long. She sighed before accepting Okra back into her tail before gathering up a small amount of ki in one hand, whilst the other worked on removing the offending article. Once it was gone, she tossed it towards the edge of the Lookout before incinerating it with her Ki.
Okra giggled and clapped his tiny hands, wriggling around in all of his natural glory before his mother used her magic to quickly craft him a new nappy. The look he pulled almost seemed like he'd been genuinely offended by Cambia's trickery and deceit. "What? This way's easier and besides, it means I don't have to try and figure out which "brand" of nappy would work best." she said, poking her son's nose and smirking.
When Tomoroko was suggesting her version of a get-away scheme, the blonde hybrid rolled her eyes and smirked. "Say hi to Komatsu for me if he's there. His nephew misses his uncle hedgehog." she said, Okra looking over towards Tomoroko, then Carmel, then back to Tomoroko. "Puppy? Gamma? Uncah Heghog?" he asked, clearly designating Carmel as puppy, which Cambia found hilariously adorable. The demonic Saiyan snorted a little before grinning and nodding. "That's right Okra. Puppy and Grandma are off to see Uncle Hedgehog. Grandma is Uncle Hedgehog's mummy after all." she slowly explained to her infant son.
The baby looked at his mother before nodding his head as this all made perfect sense to him. "Now say bye bye to your grandma." said Cambia, turning the baby around in her arms so he could get a proper look at Tomoroko. "Bah bah Gamma!" he said, his mum helping to wave his hand in a goodbye fashion. "Bah bah Puppy!" he said as well, looking over towards Carmel.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
'That kid is going to be nothing but trouble... then again I guess that means he'll fit right in...' Tomoroko thought to herself cautiously as Cambia clarified which Athren she had been referring too. Of course the young prince was in fact the first saiyan that came to mind, but since he had been just a small child when Tomoroko knew of him, she couldn't judge his worth as a man, never having seen him grow and having assumed he had perished during the war.
She didn't stick around to witness the diaper change, already at the edge of the lookout whenever Cambia asked her to say hi to KOma. To that she would nod, and raise her hand in a goodbye.
"Sure thing. I'm sure he'll be by~" She said lightly before saying a quick bye bye to Okra then leaping off the edge of the lookout and nosediving down as far as she dared go before evening out and taking off for the lookout once more.
WC: 168 Exit post. Figured I'd write something up quick so we can turn this in. PL please.
