Piyano stood upon the great plateau of the elders, his eyes looking out over the lands that laid sprawled out for miles in all directions. Soft blue grass covered the multiple islands that made up the Namek's view, separated only by the calm green waters filled the planet with its life blood. Having landed on Namek several days prior Piyano had first gone to visit his clan. The Yusicians had never been the most powerful or respected of the many Namekian clans, but for Piyano they were his family, they were the people that made him call Namek his home. Upon meeting with his family after so long Piyano had enjoyed a grand party with his tribe, exchanged the custom swapping of tales and stories, and danced throughout the night. Many of the Yusicians gathered had taken great enjoyment from Piyano's tales of Earth and its variety of peoples. They laughed when he spoke of clearing snow and playing games with children, they grew concerned when Piyano spoke of great battles against metal men, Wuxjings, and undead monsters. Mostly though, they cried as Piyano spoke of his return. Conveying his true admiration for the small blue planet, Piyano's many relatives took great pride in his heart feel choice to return to his home lands.
The travelling Namekian's stories weren't the only tales told that night however. Piyano's elders informed him of the happenings around Namek in the past year. Mazoku Clans had been building strength in the Northern Ruins of Namek, launching raids against good families and people. Large groups of immigrant aliens had been arriving on world as well, ranging from human adventurers to species seeking a escape from the Planet Trade Organization and the ever expanding Blehbarry Empire. The last bit of news was the gravest by far however, the elder Guru of Namek had announced his death. A powerful mystic rumored with the gift of foresight, the current Guru had foreseen his death within a few short months. A great sadness filled Piyano at this prospect, as the Guru had served over the people of Namek Piyano's entire life. The elder was a good man, a great man even, and if Piyano was being honest he did not wish to see the old Namekian die. As was custom for his people the Guru had put forth a calling for all clans to bring forth their chosen champion. Before the Guru's final days he would judge the champions sent to his home and select the next leader of the Namekian people.
While he was home Piyano had been his clan's chosen champion, not simply for his strength but for his wisdom, his kindness, his everything. It was said that when a Guru choose his successor he didn't just look one over or measure their power. No the Guru stripped away every aspect of ones mind, he examined every action a person took in their lives and considered every thought one had ever possessed. To most species such a invasion of the mind would be viewed as a true horror, for the Namekian's it was a necessity. How could a Guru truly do what was best for their people if they could not bare their soul for all to witness? It was because of this trial that Namekain's so greatly cared for the Guru, because any Namek named as Guru would willingly give their everything to protect even a single Namekian life.
Allowing his memories of the past few days to fade from his mind Piyano returned himself to the fields of blue grass and seas of green water. A subtle wind pulled at his coat as the Namekian awaited his turn to be examined by the Elder Guru, who was meeting with each chosen champion one at a time to measure their worth. Having been one of the last to arrive to upon Guru's Lookout meant that Piyano would be one of the last to take trial. Turning away from the comforting archipelagos of his home land Piyano looked over the gathering of Namekian's before him, forty four champions had assembled to under go trial selection, so far only eleven had been seen. Those gathered represented some of the best planet Namek had to offer, strong warriors, wise leaders, powerful mystics. Each tribe's champion represented what each tribe considered to be the most important aspect of a Guru, sensing power levels from those gathered Piyano knew he was not the strongest fighter in attendance and one of the mystics was known planet wide for his grand magician abilities.
In the end however Piyano knew that none of their strength or power truly mattered, might had never before been the determining factor in deciding a Guru, which was why the Mazoku clans champion had never been selected to lead the planet. A thought came to Piyano than as he reached out with his sense to find the Mazoku champion, the man was easy to find as he was letting his power out freely in a childish attempt to instill fear. Following his senses to the black sheep of the selections Piyano walked up to the stern faced Namek, whose smile at his approach promised future bloodshed. Piyano knew he was in no danger however, battling upon Guru's Lookout was forbidden by ancient laws. Laws so old even the demon clans would respect them. Other champions gave the Mazoku clansman a wide berth, allowing Piyano easy access to the stranger. "What do you want scrub?" the demon said as Piyano approached, his voice dripping with disdain at one who would approach him. Paying no mind to the mans attitude Piyano came to the mans side and asked a single question that he had wondered all his life. "I just came to ask why?" Piyano replied, his statement bringing a look of surprise to the demon's face. "My clans have just as much right to send a leader." the demon began, but paused as Piyano lifted up a open palm, a signal for the man to stop speaking. "Not why are you here, why do your clans live the way you do? You separate yourselves from the rest of your brothers, only coming forth to attack us. You steal from those who would gladly show you love and so I ask... why?" Piyano said, his face free of the judgement he knew every other Namekian would show this man. The only thing that could be seen in his eyes was a honest curiosity.
The Mazoku snarled and growled at Piyano's question, but when he made to respond the demon's words faltered. The man knew not why his clans lived as they did, he only knew that it was how things had always been. "F-for power, we as a race should be feared. With the Dragon Balls Namek's could rule the universe and yet we don't." the demon finally replied, using the only reason his mind could conceive. Piyano simply nodded and frowned at his fellow Namekian's words, finding the response distressful and more in line with the thoughts of a Saiyan or a soldier of Blehbarry. "If that is truly your belief than I am saddened for your clan, though I feel you yourself don't even believe your words. I wish you luck in your trial brother. I suspect it will weigh heavier on your heart than all those gathered here." Piyano answered before he walked away, noting that the Mazoku no longer wore a smile. Leaving the demon clansman with his thoughts Piyano walked through the gathering of champions greeting and embracing any and all Namek's that would have him. Piyano had felt a calling on Earth, a feeling to lead a cause that could only be undertaken by the Guru of planet Namek. Yet Piyano also knew that he likely may not be selected as the Guru's successor, those gathered before him however may listen to him should they take up the mantle. Piyano wished to open Namek as a sanctuary from war within the galaxy, to welcome all races and species to live a life of peace upon his beautiful world.
Traditionalists would hate Piyano for his plan, younger generations would be cautious but open to the idea. Piyano would have to strive to find a middle ground between his people and his plan. So the Namek returned to his place overlooking the cliff, seating himself Piyano fell into meditation as he awaited his turn. A attendant appeared several moments later to call for the twelfth champion to step forth. Knowing it would be many hours until his own trial, Piyano receded into his own thoughts seeking to use this time to prepare and improve himself for events to come. Whether or not Piyano was selected to take the Guru's place he knew the coming days would be his greatest challenge in life yet, the possibilities of warfare and strife occurring because of his plans existed. Yet so too did great opportunities for peace and the Namekian sought to be ready for everything that was sure to come.
Princess Aya Devla had been moving back and forth from the Demon realm to the Naemkian planet for a little over a year now, and so the girl was known by many of the namekian clans. The girl had 'crashed' here a year ago and had been taken in by one of the Namekian warriors since then. The Namekian that took her in, Xiao, had been striving so hard to become the planets next Guru and in an attempt to repay his kindness, Aya helped him train himself physically while Xiao worked on his own spiritual training. To those that knew her on Namek, she was a sweet girl, stranded here due to her home planet being destroyed. What no one here knew, was that Aya was the biological daughter of Queen Nakiya Devla, ruler of the Demon Realm. They didn't know why Aya had truly been sent to Namek, and she had been doing an incredible job concealing her true nature.
In recent months, Xiao had taken to secluding himself and working on his spiritual growth without her, which meant Aya had a lot of free time to move between dimensions and aid in her mothers schemes while she waited and kept a low profile. Recently it had come to her attention however, that a new Guru would be chosen, something that startled the young Demoness. She had thought that to become Guru, you simply had to claim it, to take the throne for yourself and aquire it's power, just as her mother had done with the Makai throne. She was wrong... apparently the new Guru would be chosen through some sort of ritual?
She would mentally curse herself, scrambling to form a plan that would achieve her goals here. There truly wasn't anything she could do, especially with Xiao being gone... she couldn't push to have him chosen. No, instead she would have to go and see for herself... see who was chosen and see just what it was she could do to tip the scale in her favor.
She took off from the little home she shared with Xiao, soaring towards Guru's lookout as fast as she could. Apparently she wasn't the only one.... other Namek's that had wanted to witness who would be chosen were flying off in the distance as well, though they kept a respectful distance. Aya however flew right up to the lookout and landed elegantly on it's edge, her skirt ruffling in the wind that had kicked up around her, her hair settling neatly behind her and parting such that you could see her own pointed ears.
Her eyes scanned the Namekians as she thought of what to say.
"I'm sorry to intrude... I was hoping I would find Xiao here... he's been working so hard to become the next Guru I thought for sure he would be..." She would say rather innocently, looking between them all as she looked to spot him.

Sitting in meditation as he waited his turn to undertake trial by the current Guru, a elder who had been elected to take the position until one truly worthy of becoming the Elder Guru of planet Namek came along, Piyano was shocked out of his meditation by a power swiftly approaching the lookout. Opening his eyes Piyano joined the remaining thirty one Nameks awaiting trial in watching the approach of a young girl fly passed the gathering ring of Namekians who watched the events from a respectful distance away. The girl held a sizable power for age, at least from what Piyano could sense off of her and she swiftly flew from the outer gathering to land upon the edge of Guru's lookout. She landed with a ruffling of her skirt and hair catching the wind to blow passed the tips of her pointed ears, having recently spent much time on Earth Piyano knew the child wasn't a human but he could not place her ancestry beyond that simple acknowledgement.
Several of the gathered Nameks simply shrugged the girls intrusion off, a few however looked angered and displeased that one would intrude on such a sacred ceremony. Especially since the girl wasn't even of this planets people, at least two Nameks started taking steps toward the pink haired youth but other Namekians stopped them. Whether they knew the child or simply knew there was no reason to be bothered by such a simple act they convinced the twin angered Nameks to leave well enough alone. Glad to see there wouldn't be any kind of altercation Piyano pushed himself up off the ground and started towards the young girl himself. With at least twenty eight entries to take trial before him Piyano had lots of time to kill, and he would much rather spend his time in conversation than meditation.
Approaching the young woman with a smile one his face Piyano gave thought to the question voiced by this pink haired visitor. Piyano did not personally know of any Namek named Xiao, but several entries had already undertaken the trial inside Guru's home. "Hello young miss. Perhaps your friend Xiao has already been allowed inside? If he has been training himself to take the mantle of Guru than I am certain he is around somewhere." Piyano said in answer to the girls question, hoping it would provide some level of satisfaction for the youth. Just than a voice listed off five more numbers and several of the gathered Namek's walked into Guru's home. They were upping the amount of people being put on trial at a time now, Piyano wasn't sure if this was a good or bad sign. It did mean however that his own turn would come faster. "If you can not find your friend I would be happy to keep your company Ms.? My name is Piyano." Piyano said leaving a space in the end of his sentence for the girl too offer up her name. That way Piyano wouldn't have to call her girl or child.
Even though Aya wasn't looking at the two Namekians that were approaching her, she definitely sensed their approach and knew exactly where to fire. She wasn't going to make the mistake of letting her guard down again, as she had done with the Demon Namekian clan. She didn't want to blow her cover, but if they pushed her, she would push back... filthy green slugs should know their place... she didn't care how 'pure' their genetics were as her mother did, she wanted the Namekians gone... which sadly, wasn't on the agenda.
When they backed off though, she visibly relaxed a little bit, her attention now fully on the Namekian that spoke and was now approaching her. Was he after a fight now too? She took a step backwards, her hand drawing up to her chest in a very feminine fashion of defense. However, she didn't move more then that as Piyano had been very polite in his speech and didn't seem to want to attack her at all. Good, at least not all Namekian's were so brutish.
"Maybe he is... but I was sure he would come and get me before he came..." She would say in an inquisitive tone, curious as to why Xiao would be here without her... was he going behind her back? Was he going to go back on their agreement? Surely he wasn't, he still believed her to be the only survivor of her species... maybe she could plead her case with the Namek's here... although this one, Piyano she supposed, seems to be the most interested in talking to her.
"I'm sorry... my name is Aya, I've been helping Xiao with his training to become Guru because... he promised he would help me out... help me get my family back... Is this always how it's done? The selection of a new Guru? I'm used to a much simpler succession... the children take over for the parents... but I suppose things would be different here." She'd say lowly, moving away from the larger group of Nameks that were waiting to walk inside. They were all still within earshot, considering the side of Guru's lookout, but at least she could keep an eye on anyone that might feel the need to jump her.
The young woman seemed tense at first, especially when the two Namekians that seemed angered by her appearance had began to approach the young woman. After the pair had been turned aside by the others however the pink haired girl visibly relaxed, at least for the moment. The youth had turned her attention to Piyano than, mostly because he had been the only Namekian to approach her calmly, as well as try and answer the young ladies question. The girl drew back from his approach with one of her slim hands going to her chest, her actions were similar to a motion Piyano had witnessed women on Earth take when they felt in danger. This action surprised Piyano as he believed he had been respectful in his greeting of the girl, perhaps she was afraid of his features? The tall Namek dismissed such thoughts however as soon as they came to him, first the girl lived on a planet of Namekians, surely she was used to how his people looked. Second the girl claimed companionship with a member of Piyano's race, which meant she must have spent plenty of time around him. To a Namek there was many defining features between every individual, but Piyano knew much of the galaxy saw the whole species as very similar in appearance.
Beyond her small movements however the girl allowed Piyano to walk up beside her. Thankful of the child for her trust Piyano listened as her voice held concern for her friend, this Xiao individual. "Honestly rituals such as this are often faced alone by the one undertaking the trial, he may have felt it best not to risk bringing you." Piyano replied, hoping he wouldn't be putting Xiao into much trouble with this girl for telling her the truth. Ever since the death of the last true Elder Guru however the position had been held by several elders of lesser power, and each one had done something different to determine their replacements. The current Guru was no different which meant the rules of selection were different now than the last time. "It is also possible he simply lacked the time to collect you, all of us were called for trial only two days ago. A few such as myself only arrived here hours ago." Piyano said offering up a alternative to his first answer, trusting the pink haired girl would accept whichever sounded more reasonable to her.
The girl walked away from the gathered Namekians, and Piyano followed her to the edge of the lookout before he crossed his legs and sat down. The girl introduced herself as Aya, a name Piyano didn't know, and couldn't place in the galaxy. "Well if you were helping to train Xiao for the position of Guru you must be either very powerful, or very wise." Piyano said with a disarming chuckle, unsure if he should completely believe this young woman or not. The Namek knew well about being able to hide power levels however, so he did not dismiss the notion outright. At the promise to help Aya recover her family a solemn look came over Piyano, but he quickly hid his distress so that the young woman would not see. "I am sure this Xiao will do everything he can to keep his promise too you." he replied, glad the girl was asking so many questions. It allowed Piyano to change the topic.
"What you describe is the succession of a King or Queen. The Guru of Namek is a spiritual position mostly and works a little differently. Plus all Namekians can trace our linage back to a single parent, so all of us are children of the Guru." Piyano replied, letting his words sink in and have time for the girl to absorb his meaning. "To answer your other question however, no this is not how we always decide the next Guru. Each Guru chooses the process of succession themselves." While the pair spoke a voice called several other Nameks into the Guru's home.
'Probably best he didn't take me... if any of those Demon clan Namekians said anything mother's whole plan would be toast... thankfully they benefit more by staying in our good graces...' she thought to herself, her eyes shifting over towards the large home of the guru, reaching out with her senses to feel those Namekians that had gone inside and those that had gone. Sadly, she still couldn't sense him there... perhaps he was just hiding his power level then? Maybe. This whole situation made her nervous, and without her mother she wasn't sure what she should do... she knew it was un wise to send her a telepathic message around so many that might uncover her, and so that meant she needed to make all of her own decisions... a pretty big task for the princess' first mission.
Whenever Piyano spoke of her training Xiao, she huffed as she quickly knelt down next to him, pouting a rather cure fashion, all while trying to make it look like she was upset with him.
"You don't think I can be strong? You're judging me by my looks! I might not be very wise, but I know that wasn't wise either." She would say, finally sticking her tongue out to the Namekian who was no doubt older than her. She couldn't really tell with these people, but she had come to the conclusion that, by the time a Namekian reached his height and built, they were considered an adult, which Aya still wasn't.
"I'm stronger than he is... but still not strong enough to fight the Empire that took my home from me..." she seemed to mumble the last part to herself more than she was telling Piyano. If he wanted to know 'what happened' he would ask her, she would just have to lay the groundwork as best she could. She would then fall silent, listening to Piyano describe Namekian culture and how it differed so much from Makosian culture. No wonder her mother considered the Namekians pure... there was no way for them to cross breed or contaminate their DNA... they were all descended of the same parent.
"Huh... I've never heard of a culture like that. It's... interesting. Although, how is a spiritual leader supposed to protect their people if they aren't strong? If they aren't trained to be a defender? So you think you'll be the next Guru?" She wondered curiously, now eyeing him closely.
The young pink haired woman sat down beside Piyano, she huffed and pouted at the Namekian while she sat, his words about training Xiao having been easily perceived by Aya. The girl appeared flustered and upset with Piyano at his comment, but she didn't leave and Piyano doubted the girl truly was angered with him. Aya gave Piyano a reply a child might give, but her meaning behind the words remained stern and serious, at least until she stuck her tongue out at the man. A great laugh escaped from Piyano than at the girls face with her tongue sticking out, his mirth caught the attention of some Namekian's nearby, but they quickly returned to ignoring the pair soon after.
"You are very astute you know. I judged you more on your age than your looks little one." Piyano admitted openly since the young woman had caught him 'green handed'. "You are correct however, such a judgement was very unwise of me. Also you deserve more respect than that from me. I humbly apologize Lady Aya." Piyano said in apology, his voice sincere and unwavering. The Namekian would simply have to strive harder to not view this youth as a child. A voice called out than and several more Namekian's entered the Guru's large home.
Aya went on than about how she was more powerful than this Xiao, she trailed into a mumble however as she whispered of a empire that had robbed her of her parents. Gifted with the sharp ears of his people Piyano heard the mumbling clearly, and his heart sank to learn this girl had lost her family at such a young age. "Would it ease your burden to talk about it?" Piyano asked, more than willing to be a sympathetic ear for Aya to release her grief. There may be nothing Piyano could truly do for the pink haired girl, but he would help if he could. Seeing Aya stay silent for several moments Piyano choose instead to describe a bit about Namekian's and the ancient position of the Guru, knowing fully well that Aya would open up with her past when or if she felt ready to.
The youth brought up a string of interesting questions than, questions that required thought. Turning his eyes from Aya, Piyano gazed out over the green seas as his mind sorted out the best answers to the girl's question. "Truthfully in ancient times passed the Guru did not protect the people. He was a leader and a guide into our peoples future." Piyano began, reciting tales of the first elder Guru. "Guru was very old, and though brimming with mystical power and wisdom, was physically quite weak. The planets strongest warrior was tasked with protecting the Guru. While Guru was tasked with shaping the path of our race." Piyano replied, knowing it didn't fully answer the girl's question, but that his words set the framework of discussion. "Only in the last few hundred years has the belief change from the people protecting the Guru, to the Guru should be protecting the people. Admittedly I do think this change is for the better however." Piyano finished as he described the unique position that was the Guru.
When asked if Piyano thought he himself would become the next Guru he could only look back at Aya and shrug. "The hope is there, I possess the potential to become the next Guru. With the title I could do great things for Namek, yet every Namek here is equally as qualified as myself. So I can only undertake my trial and believe." Piyano replied truthfully.
Aya was glad to hear Piyano back pedal a little bit after she accused him of being unwise to judge her. Sure he laughed at her, which irritated the young Demon Princess to no end, but it was short lived. He even went ahead and apologized, while even calling her Lady Aya. A name she had only heard during her visits to Makai. It through her off for a moment, standing a little bit straighter and seeming to hold herself with a tad more grace than she had before. The gesture seemed to quickly fade however as she cleared her throat, a silence having fallen between the two.
Piyano exclaimed that he would be willing to listen to her story if it made her feel better, to which Aya only shook her head. There was no point pushing too hard was there? But then again, they had waited quite a long time for someone to claim the mantle of Guru...
"Well... I wouldn't want to burden you right before your trial to become Guru... but if you would let me vent I would appreciate it. I know it's a heavy story and... and there's really only one way to make it right again... ah but, we can talk about it after you've gone inside."
She said as she took in a deep breath to seemingly calm herself. She would look towards the building the other Namekians had gone into, and found that there were only about 5 Namekians left standing outside with them. That meant that Piyano would go in next? Well, she definitely hoped that things turned out her way...
The silence seemed to settle between them once more, before Piyano clarified the position of Guru, at least the one of the past, and the direction the position was heading into. Well, if the newer Guru was meant to protect the planet as well as be their spiritual leader then it was quite the job, though she imagined it wouldn't be very different from her mothers... beyond the ability to create dragonballs and all.
"Well... I wish you luck mr Piyano. It looks like it's just about your turn to go inside. Thank you... for indulging me."
The pink haired youth seemed to grow straighter at Piyano's apology, something about his words struck a cord with the young woman in a manner that had a physical impact upon her stance and stature. Almost within the same breath of having noticed the change fall over the teen however the effect seemed to disappear and she returned to the same attitude she had stormed the lookout with earlier. Piyano was undisturbed by the change however, which word or phrase he had uttered hadn't been meant with jest or ill intent and Aya appeared fine. So the Namekian let what he had thought he had noticed fade from his memory, believing that it couldn't be anything worth dwelling upon.
When Lady Aya hinted at wishing to share the burden of her memories Piyano turned to give his full attention to the youth. In the end she declined however, wishing not to trouble him before his trials before the Guru. It was a very adult action for the young woman to take, and Piyano knew he truly would have to think of this teen as a full mature citizen of Namek. "We shall talk inside than, once we both possess the time." he replied with a soft smile and a nod that sent his antenna bouncing upon his brow. Following Aya's gaze towards the Guru's home, Piyano to realized that only five other Namekians remained to await trial. This meant that he would be part of the next group to enter and undertake whichever challenge was placed before him.
Seemingly as if on par with his thoughts a man strolled out of the house and waved the remaining trial goers forward. Pushing himself to his feet Piyano brushed himself free of loose grass as Aya wished him luck and offered her thanks. Namekian you may not be, but you are a citizen of Namek it would seem. All of us here are brothers and sisters, and I would happily indulge you little sister." Piyano replied, his face looking to her happily before turning back towards the Guru's home, where it took on a sterner appearance. "Would you like to accompany me for my trial? As a witness of course." he suddenly asked, feeling confident Aya would be allowed inside despite the rarity of such a honor.
After waiting a few moments for the youths answer Piyano followed the other five Namekians inside. The home was well furnished for a Namekian abode, which meant it was still barren compared to a humans home. Within the group was lead to a room with a wide bowl shaped hallway, several Namekians sitting along rows of elevated seats to witness the trials. In the center of the room sat a very old Namek upon a giant throne, the throne that had once supported the true elder Guru of all the Namekian people. The current Guru was small however, likely barely tall enough to reach Piyano's chest and covered in the wrinkles that signified a Namekian who had lived well past three hundred and fifty years of life.
Piyano and the other five Namekians all dropped into a bow before the Guru, foreheads touching the floor as they dropped to their knees and awaited trial. The Guru said nothing at first, his assistant coming forward instead. "Today you all are to stand trial should you so choose. The great Guru will read your minds, and display your thoughts, past, weal, and soul for all within this room to see. Every bit of your lives will be shown, such is your trial." said the assistant, his voice cold and lacking in empathy. "Those who wish to quiet the trial may now do so." he finished pointing towards the door. Shockingly to Piyano three of the men kneeling beside him rose and left than, either unable or unwilling to allow such a invasive intrusion into their private thoughts.
When the three were gone Piyano and the two men ringing him were each called forth to kneel before the Guru, who placed a wrinkled hand upon their heads and started the trial. Thoughts and memories flowed from the three and into the minds of all those gathered throughout the room, Piyano sat stunned as images flashed before his eyes, thoughts that were his own, but also not his own mixing and playing together like a weave of life. The memories were a confusing jumble at first, but eventually laid out as a tapestry that revealed every moment and detail in a colorful array that instantly responded to his thoughts.
Instead of focusing on the lives of the two men undertaking the trial with him, Piyano choose to focus upon his own past, re-experiencing the comforts and troubles he had lived through up until this point, taking strength in the memories of his past.
Aya had been caught of guard by Piyano's offer to enter the building with him, and by further calling her his sister and including her as a part of the large Namekian family. Her face had started to flush lightly as she pushed herself up to her feet, turning away from Piyano for a moment to try and compose herself. She would bring her hands up to her cheeks, seeming to slap herself lightly as if it would snap her out of whatever strange feeling had been inspired within her at his words.
When she finally turned back around, she had a large smile on her face once more, her cheeks still slightly pinkish from the self imposed slap.
"It would be an honor to come inside. I promise I won't be a burden" She stated politely, falling silent as she fell in line behind the group of Namekians heading inside.
From that point forward Aya didn’t utter a word, instead she chose to move to the very end of the building while still standing behind Piyano. Her eyes remained on him for long moments, until a familiar sensation began to trickle at her mind. She resisted it at first, until it managed to force it’s way in and silent understanding washed over the young Demoness.
“Ah, such a shame that they would leave… I could sense such potential in them.” The old Namekian would say, his voice cracking more than once, truly reflecting his age. At least, the age that meant to be portrayed. To all of these Namekians, they would believe that Nakiya was now the oldest Namekian on the planet, the only one capable of taking the mantle of Guru since the death of the previous. However, that had been a farce easy to take advantage of. The true Namekian had been killed some months ago, buried honorably in the nearby grave, unmarked.
Nakiya had taken his place, using her ability to shapeshift as well as the use of her abilities on the mind to ensure no one questioned her. It was taking Aya far too long to train just one Namekian soldier to become the next Guru, and so instead she chose to take on this image and silently force the Namekians hand. She would peer into all those worthy of becoming Guru, and she would chose the one that best suited her needs.
However, she found herself face to face with the last handful of Namekians this planet had to offer, and now only had 2 to choose from. She supposed any would do, as she could simply use her mind control to ensure they did as they were told, but that wasn’t the path she wanted to take. No, the Namekians were a perfect race that was to be left mostly untouched, and so she would make sure the dragonballs were created ‘properly’ by their standards, and ensure they weren’t tainted.
“My son’s, welcome. Please relax, this isn’t as unpleasant as it may sound” She said in a soft, elderly tone, attempting to reassure them both as she pried into their minds, connecting their thoughts with all those Namekians gathered around them and each other. Both candidates lives were put on display for all to see, both of them looking just as pure as the other, though the thing that stood out the most to Nakiya was Piyano and his travels. It seemed he had seen more than just Namek, and that would be most valuable in a Guru.
Time went by as the others continued to peer into the minds of both candidates, even though Nakiya had already made up her mind. It took roughly 10 minutes before Nakiya would cut the link then look over to the guardian standing next to her.
“Clarin, if you would please bring him here…” She would instruct. With that, the guardian would walk towards both candidates and suddenly change his stance, instead walking towards Piyano.
“Congratulations brother. Your mind has proven to be the most worthy of becoming our leader, our Guru. Please step towards our father if you accept this honor and receive Guru’s blessing.”
It please Piyano to have Aya accompany him into the trial, even before he had known it would mean exposing his mind for all gathered to witness. The young woman seemed at once very mature, yet the way she had to turn and slap her cheeks to prepare herself still hinted at her age. It was refreshing to see such a combination of youthful eagerness mixed with adult understanding and responsibility. She was knowledgeable enough to silently stand back as the trial took way however, granted the role of an observer.
The Elder Guru spoke when several Namekians left the trial, he expressed regret at they departure. His great voice cracked with his words as the Elder's age showed through in his every movement, every vocalization. Piyano looked up at the man that had been fulfilling the role of Guru his entire life. Piyano had seen the Guru only several times in his life, the last fully four years prior. Even than he had seemed ancient, yet had filled Piyano with a quiet strength by his presence alone. When the Guru calmed both his sons awaiting trial and delved into their minds Piyano offered up his everything, freely and without restraint.
The process was both short and long, overall it took maybe ten minutes to full display both men's entire lives since thought was so much faster to comprehend than vocal stories. For Piyano and the second trial goer however ten minutes of completely exposing your soul was longer than even the worst event of either's life time. Finally however it came to a end and the Guru severed the mind link. Piyano could feel the mental tendril leave him, as if a group of people had suddenly all pulled their hands free from a bowl of standing water. Pressure drained from his head, he hadn't even realized it had been building behind his temples until after everything was finished.
The Guru spoke with his assistant than, Clarin walking up before him. Emotions surged within Piyano as Clarin stood face to face with him. Excitement, surprise, fear, and many more could clearly be seen upon his face. Congratulations were in order, and Piyano stood momentarily stunned as it finally hit him. He had been accepted as the Guru of his people, and had began his first step at what he hoped would lead to bettering his world. "Thank you brother Clarin, thank you." Piyano said as he embraced the man in a quick hug, simply unable to contain himself in this moment.
After his excitement died down enough for him to do as needed, Piyano walked up before the Elder Guru and knelled before the great man. Piyano sat in wait for whatever blessing the man intended to give him. For the rest of the Elder Guru's life Piyano would turn to him for advise, as a adviser until Piyano mastered all that it meant to be Guru of Namek. Piyano would forever honor this man, and would never allow him to become forgotten.
The guardian seemed taken aback by the sudden hug, but pat his brothers shoulder before he was released, watching as Piyano moved before the current Guru to await his blessing. He walked up next to Piyano, placing his hand on his shoulder once more, waiting for Guru to first explain what would happen.
"I'm afraid I do not have enough energy myself... to properly pass the rit onto you, Piyano. However, my Guardian, Clarin... He has been gifted by my predecessor, and he will be the one to pass on the ways of Guru to you in the most personal of ways. He has decided, of his own mind, that he would fuse with the one that would take the mantle of guru, and part his teachings and knowledge onto them. The new guru... you must be able to look out for your people spiritually, and now physically... Clarin..." the older Namekian spoke, barely moving from his spot in his chair. You could easily tell that he was comfortable where he was, and any movement more than a shift would send him into a coughing fit.
Clarin would nod to the Guru before turning to face Piyano.
"It was because of my failure that the Guru fell... Because of me, we are forced to move forward into a new age. I choose to be a part of that future, by ensuring that the new Guru has every tool possible at his disposal. I know that fusing this way is against our laws, but with his guidance, this one exception will be made... for the better of our people." He explained, assuring Piyano that he was in fact doing this of his own accord. At least, those were the words Nakiya forced the poor man to speak.
"If you accept, please place your hand on his chest Piyano~"
Guardian Clarin was certainly surprised by Piyano's actions, but the man accepted them with a brotherly pat upon Piyano's back. Piyano was very aware of how out of place his actions were, but beneath the grand expanse of responsibility he felt surging up inside him, he also felt true joy. As a child none would have ever expected Piyano to progress so far as he had now, the Namekian had shown intelligence, and kindness during his early years. Strength and power had always been secondary for Piyano however, it had been a truly long road for the man to have risen above his limitations. Being accepted as the new Guru of Namek was the prize he was now being awarded for pushing beyond.
Stepping up before the Elder Guru, Piyano was shocked to learn of Clarin's intent. Piyano had learned some of Namekian fusion through his childhood studies, the ritual bestowed great powers upon one of two Namekians. The second of the pair would impart their strength and in time, their memories upon the recipient; such a gain in power and knowledge however came at a grave cost. Clarin was giving Piyano his life, in a way the warrior attendant would live on inside Piyano. His soul becoming one with Piyano's own, but Clarin's free will would become crushed... little more than a subconscious memory only to be heard by Piyano in his deepest meditations. Face showing grave concern Piyano turned from the Guru to once again face Clarin.
The warrior, some would say the greatest warrior alive upon Namek today faced Piyano and explained his cause. The Namekians reasons were straightforward and showed Clarin's love for his people and his world. As well as revealed the man's great sense of duty. Never before had Piyano ever wished he could see inside another's mind like he wished so now. Piyano wished to know Clarin's hopes, his fears, his dreams; to deny this exceptional offer would be seen as a great offense to the seasoned warrior. Even more so Piyano could not deny that the warrior's knowledge was likely vast and possibly second to none but the Guru himself. Fusing with Clarin would save Piyano years of study and allow him take up the full mantle of Guru in nearly no time at all.
The Guru spoke than, presenting Piyano with his choice. "Guardian Clarin. I can never repay you for such a sacrifice. I can only pray that from within me you shall witness the actions of a Guru who will make your soul beam with pride." Piyano said as he clasped a hand upon Clarin's shoulder, meeting the warrior's eye. Piyano held that gaze as he brought his free palm up to Clarin's chest and calmly laid his hand flat upon the mans bare muscles. "You will never be forgotten." Piyano said as he felt the ritual begin.
Power flowed from the warrior Namek in waves, energy so powerful that Piyano struggled to imagine it combined with his own. Never allowing his eyes to slip away from Clarin's own Piyano held himself still as the power transferred between both men, until Clarin simply disappeared; his body dissolved and merged into Piyano's own. Physically Piyano would bare no change, but in a way he was no longer himself. In a way he was no longer Piyano nor Clarin, but a new being comprised of the best traits of both.
While Piyano felt his power spike up immediately Clarin's knowledge would come more slow. His past and memories would trickle into Piyano's own until the man felt as if he had lived two lives at once. Such a thing would take much time however and for now Piyano recalled little about Clarin's life beyond what the man had said and experienced within this very room. Releasing a slow breath Piyano turned back towards the current Guru to await whatever else the great leader may have to add.

Nakiya watched the two Namekian's with great interest, her minds eye trained on them both as she took in every detail of this fusion and the effects it had on the one named Piyano, the one who would now become Guru. While his body didn't seem to change, she could sense that his mind was quite different... it wasn't like there were two individuals in his head, but one, new person entirely. It was a strange feeling, but she made sure to register the process within her mind for further study. For now however, she needed to deal with the new Guru, instruct him on what it was she wanted him to do...
"I can sense great changes in you, Guru Piyano. I have great hopes for you. With Clarin's knowledge I hope that my predecessors teachings have passed onto you, I pray you know what responsibilities await you. Your first trial as Guru, is to test for much your power and mind have grown, the knowledge of how to create our sacred orbs, the Sacred Dragonballs are now within you. To protect our home, you must create our ancient treasures, as the Guru before you has done. Only with the blessing of the dragon, will you truly be able to ascend to Guru." Nakiya would explain slowly, her inner hunger growing as she wished to see if this was now within PIyano's capabilities. Now she knew that she was treading dangerous waters, and had to be careful of what she said even more so.
"With the Dragon's blessing, please assign each of the sacred orbs to one of the village elders." She would continue. This was an old tradition she had read about not so long ago, and hoped that it still held true. If she was questioned, she could always make a claim to her false age.
Aya remained silent throughout the entire endeavour, remaining glued to the back wall as she watched the exchange between the Namekians, the grand words of what would be the substitute Guru, the excitement of the new Guru and the almost monotone sound of the guardians voice. While she didn't know her mothers exact plans, she could see it all unfold before her, like some grandiose play set up on this small stage. Things seemed to be going well, and to ensure her mothers success, she made sure to barely be noticed within the room...
The current Guru laid out instructions for Piyano, he did not seem to make demands of him but instead appeared to truly believe that what he asked would save Namek and it's people. For Piyano's first trial to be the restoration of the mighty Porunga, it seemed a daunting task filled with much personal hardship. Also Piyano knew the risks of returning the great dragon to life, it would make Namek a target to the outside universe again. Yet Piyano could not deny that Porunga's power could go a long way towards making great changes upon Namek, and returning a dragon ball to each village elder has had been custom in ages passed would do much to garner favor across the many scattered tribes.
It took Piyano a moment to realize that his last thought had come from the mind and experiences of Clarin, never before had a idea of political favor ever run through Piyano's mind. Now however he realized he would need such things to properly lead his people. The man whom was once two but now was one nodded his head towards the current Guru as he tried to search through the vague memories of Clarin that he currently possessed, somehow knowing further secrets would be revealed to him in time. "I do. I do understand my new responsibilities, as do I know now how to restore Porunga. I must learn a special technique first, and prepare the ritual to succeed however." Piyano said aloud as the details flashed through his mind. Magic Materialization was the first step, than he must prepare the statue that housed Porunga's soul with sacred incantations. Clarin knew all these things though, and so now Piyano knew too.
"I swear upon my new title, I shall restore the dragon within the year!" Piyano promised, not just to the old Guru, but to all those in attendance, many of which were those very village elders in mention. With that Piyano embraced the Guru gently, before he moved around the great chamber and greeted each and every person. many wished to speak with the new Guru of Namek, but Piyano kept chatter idle as he would assume his official role the next morning once he had moved into the lookout and the old Guru was moved to a location of his choosing. In the end Piyano came face to face with Aya, the pink haired girl had maintain silence and respect throughout the trial. "Seems you wishing my luck was of greater aid than expected." Piyano said with a soft smile and genuine thanks as he patted the woman upon her head, right between her ribbons.
