Two days, two full cycles of the largest sun that circled planet Namek had rotated through the every bright skies since Piyano had returned to the lands of his people, returned to his true home. The Namekian was thrilled to have returned to his home world with its lush blue colored grass and cool green waters, but the man had returned to his home with a mission in mind and much work was yet to have been accomplished. Piyano had spent his first night back alongside the people of his tribe, the Yusicians. Piyano had spoken long into the mid morning hours with his elders upon his return. Two major occurrences had been discussed at length during that first day, first the news that elder Guru would be stepping down from his position as spiritual leader of planet Namek due to his age, and second that the Mazoku clans in the northern ruins of the planet had been leading raids against defenseless settlements.
Known for attacking off worlders with some frequency the Mazoku tribes rarely directed their attention to Namekian villages, yet lately the mutant spawns of the Mazoku had been plundering any and all villages no matter the occupants. Even stranger was the news that the mutant demons had been seen in the company of small grey creatures. The new attackers said to be in alliance with the Mazoku were short with plant like features, rumor said they were grown from the very soil itself! Piyano knew not what to make of these claims in all honestly, but the tall Namekian was certain of one thing indeed, he would be at the next raid, and he would put a stop to it.
His second day on the planet Piyano had flown out to the northern territories of the Maima Region to investigate the earlier attacks that had been staged upon the people living in the area. Searching ransacked village after village Piyano learned that the attackers never came more than once and very rarely took anything during the raids. Suspicions raised at learning the demon clans had not actually been thieving, simply attacking, the Namek had become certain of at least one fact. The Mazoku clans were pillaging in a line down the coast of the region, attacking villages that had only just sent their strongest warriors or mystics away to trial for the title of Guru. The cowardly tactics disgusted Piyano, but he could not deny the effectiveness such planning had, especially since Piyano had seen the burnt remains of homes and people first hand.
Knowing where the Mazoku clans would strike next Piyano flew into a little township known as Mushi. Just like the other villages Mushi had sent their finest warrior off days before and when Piyano warned the villagers of an impending attack they gladly welcomed him to watch over their homes. Several young Namek’s near to Piyano in age stayed behind to defend the village beside him, while the elders and children were ushered off to Piyano’s tribe. It was here that Piyano found himself, sitting lazily upon a bench in the center of the sixteen hut village. A towel draped over his face to keep the sun out of his eyes sat suspended upon his twin antenna as he pretended to doze comfortable in the basking glow of Namek’s three suns. Hours of waiting had already passed while Piyano laid about as a big target to draw in the raiders, his fellow Namekian’s hidden throughout the huts of the village.
As much as the peaceful Namek didn’t wish to have to fight his demon brethren Piyano also found himself hoping the attack would come soon. The Yusician tribe had chosen Piyano as their representative to compete for the title of Guru, and if the Namekian was too late to attend his trial than Piyano’s own shot would be lost. To serve as Guru for his people was the dream of every good natured Namekian, Piyano included. Yet the green man knew that he also had to stand and fight for those who could not fight for themselves, and with every other namekian of substantial power attending the trials of Guru Piyano was the only one left to put a stop to these raids.
“GGGYYYWWWWAAAAAA!!!!!”
A sudden high pitched battle cry signaled that Piyano’s waiting had not been in vain. Pulling the towel down from his face the Namekian looked out to the north of the village to see four of his brothers dressed in purple dogi. The quartets evil grins and tribal clothing easily identified them as members of the Mazoku clans. Oddly enough Piyano also had time to notice that the rumors of grey skinned monsters seemed to be true, as six little creatures the size of children burrowed up from the ground. The small monsters laughed and cackled like mad children and at times yelled in a language all their own.
“GGGYYYWWWWAAAAAA!!!!!”
As the small creature let forth their battle calls one of the Mazoku clansman whispered something and pointed a long finger at the houses of the village, than the monsters charged. Frowning as the tiny beasts run forward Piyano stood from his bench and contemplated his options. A ten on one fight was not in his favor by any means, but the Namek could sense that each of these pod creatures was rivaling the strength of the three Namekian’s that had agreed to fight by his side. Piyano had no wish to see one of the young Namekian’s die in battle, they were dragon clan members after all, none of them possessed the power of a warrior caste Namek. Reaching out with his telepathy to the three men piyano ordered them to stay hidden and fire KI blasts from roof tops and windows. None of the three seemed thrilled that they were ordered not to engage directly, but they trusted in Piyano’s experience, his power was greater than all three of heirs combined after all.
The deed done Piyano dropped into a stance and waited for the six grey creatures to attack him. Now that he was seeing the beasts up close Piyano seemed to recall being told of these monsters long ago. They were known as Saibamen, watching the group of six Piyano noticed the leading creature perform a unexpected tactic. It ran into the first house it reached and slammed the door shut behind it! Not sure what to expect from the odd creature Piyano could only shrug as the remaining five came upon him. The lead Saibamen jumped into the air hoping to descend down upon Piyano, but the Namekian had a surprise in store for the monster as his arm shot out over triple its original length to grab the monster round its throat.
Caught out of the air the Saibaman was forcefully swung around by the neck in a wide arc that smashed its bulbous head into two others of its kind. Crashing to the ground in a heap one top the others Piyano released his grip on the creatures and shrunk his limb back down to size, than with a mental shout too his allies Piyano watched as a rain of KI blasts fired from rooftops and windows. Deadly energy cascaded down over the three Saibamen with explosive force, dust and blood bursting into the air with every blast. Piyano found no moment to smile however as the remaining two monsters ran right passed their downed friends without so much as a thought. One creature rushed in with razor claws gleaming, the other seemed to split its head down the center like one might chop a head of lettuce. From the creatures exposed skull launched a thick, viscous goo that glowed a sickly lime green. Knowing better than to let the strange substance touch his flesh Piyano rushed forward to drive his knee into the first Saibamen, his speed great enough that the creature couldn’t react in time to offer any defense. The Saibamen was lifted up and back from the vicious hit, its body flipping in the air to intercept the glowing goo of its companion.
“GYA! GYHAAHJY!!”
The Saibamen screamed as acid burned through its outer flesh, the smell of the creature burning to death was overwhelming in its fowl nature. The Saibamen with its head currently split looked on in awe as its companion had been used as a shield to block its acid attack, that turned to fear as its eyes fell upon Piyano once more. The Namekian stood with his arms outstretched and going through the motions of one of his more powerful techniques. Rotating his right arm back behind him Piyano suddenly through both his palms forward, a electrically charged gale of wind drove through the village, brimming with Piyano’s power the thunder filled gust swept over all five Saibamen bodies before the Namek. Whether any of the creatures were already dead mattered not to Piyano, all that mattered was that these blood thirsty monsters were removed from his sight.
Only two of the five Saibamen were alive enough to squeak and squawk as Piyano’s destructive wind fried each monster well past the possibility of survival. When the bodies stopped twitching Piyano heaved in air to recover his breath, the Saibamen were gone but out in the distance four Mazoku remained. Walking forward Piyano stepped over the bodies of the slain Saibamen and out the Northern edge of the village. Piyano walked slowly towards the demon clansmen, mostly so that he could recover his stamina for another fight. The Mazoku were evil, but many of them still possessed a twisted sense of honor, if Piyano challenge the group's leader to a duel he would accept. Defeating the leader would force the four to withdraw without further confrontation as well. Soon enough Piyano was only twenty paces from the group, their vile grins hinting at a lust for violence.
“You did well to slay five Saibamen, even though you had aid and the cowardly one didn’t fight you at all.” one of the Mazoku said with a chuckle at the death of his own monsters, this Namek truly cared nothing for life or living creatures. Piyano remembered back to when the first Saibamen had hidden itself, perhaps that one was defective? A Saibamen that didn’t seek out wanton destruction was a rare thing, and Piyano knew he would have to go check on the creature when everything was finished with these four. “I challenge you to Izetscifcapa.” Piyano said calmly using his peoples native tongue for the word meaning duel. All four Mazoku laughed at Piyano than, but three of them stepped back and out of the way. Even evil men could have honor.
“We guessed that you would try something like Izetscifcapa, at least I was hoping you would.” The demon clansmen said as he shifted into a battle stance. The man also released his restrictions over his power and energy flowed off him like the tide crashed along the shore. Leaning his neck into a stretch Piyano too entered a form for combat, the pair of Namek’s staring each other down for a long moment before they began. The Mazoku started first with a claw lead stab too Piyano’s heart, the Yusician easily slapped the strike aside with the back of his right hand and followed up with a sweeping kick aimed for the Mazuko’s kneecap. An experienced fighter however the Mazoku simply stepped back, allowing Piyano’s kick to hit nothing but air. With both men’s opening strikes defeated they fell into a barely visible battle of claws, fits, and kicks. Fighting at a eye straining speed Piyano knew he was currently the faster of the two, even with his weighted armor holding his movements in restriction. The Mazoku was better though, he wasn’t stronger, he wasn’t faster… but the man’s martial arts were leagues above Piyano’s own. The Mazoku proved it than been suddenly grabbing a hold of Piyano’s chest, his claws digging deep into flesh.
Shocked and injured from the impalement Piyano stood stunned as his foe pushed him back with the force of extending his arm. The suddenly elongated limb lifted Piyano into the air and whipped him around fiercely before slamming him hard into the ground. It was a mocking and much more powerful version of the attack Piyano had used against the Saibamen! Feeling several bones in his back crack with his impact into the ground Piyano had no time to rest as his opponent screamed at him from yards away. “Masenko!” he shouted with both hands above his head before thrusting his palms forward. A violent beam of orange energy launched towards Piyano, a deep glow enshrouding him before dust exploded into the air. “Ha, killed you!” the Mazoku said, just before Piyano appeared beside him, delivering a rib shattering kick to the man’s side. Piyano found himself thankful he had learned the afterimage family of techniques in his time on Earth as his enemy crashed into the dirt and rolled several feet away from him, otherwise there was a high chance Piyano would have been killed with the Mazoku’s last attack.
Unlike the Mazoku, Piyano did not follow up with a attack while his opponent was on the ground, so his enemy reached his feet safety. The demon clansmen looked upon Piyano with disgust at his charity, but Piyano let the foul gaze wash off of him. It didn’t matter what these clansmen thought, only that they left without further raiding, deciding then and there it was time to end this fight Piyano did something he had not planned on doing. He powered up. Reaching deep within himself, recalling his days back when a Wuxjing assassin had almost murdered him, Piyano sought out a level of strength he had only accessed once before; the strength of a Enhanced Namekian. Dust kicked off the ground circling Piyano as his power skyrocketed with the transformation, if his enemy emitted power like the tide than Piyano now gave off energy in waves that crashed thunderously upon the stones of a craggy beach.
The sudden spike in Piyano’s power brought looks of regret to the face of all four Mazoku, each one now suddenly worried that Piyano would turn his power upon them. “Now I end this.” Piyano stated matter of factly to his enemy, earning a look of true hatred from the man. Taking a step forward Piyano traveled twenty yards in a heart beat, faster than the Mazoku could see. Stopping at the demon Namek’s side Piyano grabbed him around the wrist and forced his arm straight out before delivering a chop to the man’s taunt shoulder. Flesh and bone parted under the force of that blow, and Piyano cocked back the severed arm of his foe before he batted him in the face with it! The Mazoku screamed before unconsciousness took him, collapsing to the ground in a heap of green and purple. Watching just long enough to see his foe’s chest move up and down to confirm he was breathing Piyano turned to the other three demon clansmen and tossed the severed arm at the men’s feet. “Take your man and leave this region. If I see you raiding these parts again I will not hesitate to kill you all.” Piyano threatened, in truth he knew his knocked out foe could fully recover from his wounds in only a few days; but the memory of defeat would stay with him and for now that was enough.
Watching as the Mazoku gathered the body of their leader and flew away, Piyano maintained his enhanced form until the four were past the horizon. Free now of battle Piyano dropped his power and limped toward the village of Mushi, his regenerative abilities already working towards healing his cracked bones and pierced chest. The three clansmen that had stayed to fight at his side greeted Piyano with a hearty embrace, one offering him cool water to quench his thirst. Piyano spoke with them for several moments before politely excusing himself. Piyano had one last thing to check on before all was said and done. Finding the most northern positioned house in the village Piyano entered without a knock. Thankfully Namekian’s lived sparse lives, so the home contained little furniture, and the clawed foot of a grey Saibamen could easily be seen sticking out from under a bed.
Sneaking up on the leg Piyano quickly grabbed the creature by its ankle and tugged hard! The Saibamen slid out from its hiding place with a squeal of terror, Piyano held a fist raised to smash the monsters chest; but stopped when he saw no fight in this Saibamen’s eyes. The only thing Piyano saw was fear. “Can you understand me creature?” Piyano asked, first in Namekian, than in the common language of the universe. The Saibamen nodded slightly, though it still seemed shaken. “Speak than creature.” Piyano commanded, to which the Saibamen released a series of guttural noises. “Gywah, ha ha yegwa.” the grey Saibamen replied, Piyano could not understand a single thing it tried to say. Clawed hands shaking before its face, Piyano looked over the Saibamen’s claws. They did not smell of blood, in fact the looked clean, almost entirely unused on anything beside soft soil. A crazy thought came to Piyano then, one he wasn’t sure if he would regret or not in the future. “Would you like to come with me? Live with my village? Know that if you harm a single soul I will kill you.” Piyano said taking his weight off the Saibamen and allowing it to stand.
The Saibamen chirped in a sound that Piyano could only guess to mean happiness, than the creature jumped upon his arm with a tight embrace. Piyano grew fearful at the sudden hug for a moment, but no attack came. No acid splashed his face or claws dug into his flesh, only the strange embrace of a child sized creature grabbing at his side. Sighing at his own fears Piyano peeled the creature off his arm gently and set it on the ground. “We are going to need to think of a name for you little creature.” Piyano said as he walked towards the home’s door, the Saibamen gave only a single reply. “Gywah!?”
End.
