The sounds of the roaring crowds could be heard even from the locker room, shaking the entire building. They were pumped and ready to see fighters from all around the globe duke it out in epic fashion. Nothing got people more excited than seeing some of Earth's greatest fighters going neck and neck in a grand tournament. Now of course, Seigi was nowhere near one of the best fighters on Earth, but he figured this would be a great experience and a way to really gauge where he stood. He had felt himself becoming more and more powerful over the last few weeks, a result of his intense training and constant strain on his body. Before his father died, he had told him that a Saiyan's biology is different than that of a humans, that the closer a Saiyan comes to death, the stronger he became. Seigi didn't know too much about that but he did know that he had the capability to push himself to limits he didn't even know he had, as shown when he had fought against that strange alien before. After the battle, he felt stronger than he ever had in his life, the power coursing through his veins something he didn't even know he could achieve. But compared to other Saiyans, he knew he had a lot of work to do to get where he needed. His mind wandered back to the Dojo, where he had met Suusao and those blonde-haired Saiyans... what had they called themselves? Super Saiyans? He didn't know such a power was reachable, but obviously it was. Seigi needed to push himself to get to their level. But how? How was he supposed to strengthen himself that much? Whatever the case, he couldn't worry about them right now. He needed to worry about himself and doing what he knew he was capable of. Seigi was strong and getting stronger. He just needed the right push forward. He had a goal, but could he achieve it on his own? He was building himself to become strong enough to take on an entire Saiyan Death Squad. These guys destroyed planets just for fun and Seigi didn't even have proper Ki control yet. He needed work on that.
Seigi's eyes scanned the room, looking at all the warriors who sat in here, each one patiently waiting for their names to be called to fight. There were all sorts different warriors and races in the room, which caused Seigi's heart to race. He had always wanted to see how the fighting styles of others varied and it looked as if today he was going to get his wish. The first fighter to catch his eye was a Namekian who stood silently away from everyone else. His gaze was cast at the door and his face was stern and stoic. He wore a white Gi with a strange symbol on it, Seigi only guessing it was the symbol for his school or clan or... something. He didn't want to pry though so his attention shifted. The next fighter to catch his eye was a human with strange gauntlets on his arms. The man was massive in size, dwarfing everyone else in the room. He was easily 7 feet tall and his muscles were bigger than Seigi's head. He wore a robe that reached his calves, the sleeves torn off to show off his massive frame. He had a small tattoo on his neck but Seigi couldn't make out exactly what it was.
The next fighter was human as well, or at least... Seigi thought he was. He had snow white hair, similar to Seigi's, but it was much longer, reaching down his back. He wore a skull mask, hiding his face from the rest of the group, and 8 small swords were positioned on his back. He wore a white robe, but was more pristine than the other man's and looked like it had seen less wear. However, the man's sheer presence intimidated Seigi and he wondered exactly what this man's story was. He supposed he could find out later though, hoping to be able to see him fight later.
The final fighter to catch his eye was a human, or maybe Saiyan, who sat silently, also seeming to be sizing everyone else up and down. He had black hair and wore a red Gi with matching pants and boots. His Gi also bore a strange symbol that Seigi didn't recognize, and the man would every once in a while looked at the Namekian, scowling, the two possibly being rivals, maybe rivaling schools? Seigi's people watching skills weren't exactly the best.
The locker room was eerily quiet, none of the fighters seeming to really be the talkative type, most likely due to the tension between them all. They all knew that sooner or later, they would fight each other and a good fighter didn't like to get attached or befriend others in fear of their emotions getting the better of them during the fight. But, Seigi knew this wasn't a fight to the death and so he had no problem making friends. He hadn't come here with intentions on winning the tournament, and so the boy stood up and stretched, letting out a yawn.
"Man, I can't wait to get out there. What about you guys?" He said, addressing the others. There were numerous other fighters there but Seigi had only watched the ones who looked strongest. The Namekian simply scowled while the others remained quiet. Then, the red Gi wearing human stood up, smiling. Walking over to Seigi, he shoved his hands on his hips and addressed the boy.
"You seem pretty eager. Tell me, kid, what's your name?" He asked, sizing Seigi up and down. Seigi grinned, replying to the man almost too excitedly.
"The name's Seigi! Seigi Ikazuchi! This is my first tournament, so I'm a little excited."
"Oh? You planning on taking home the prize money?" He asked, giving Seigi a play punch. Seigi shook his head, then scratching the back of it.
"Nah, I just wanna see how strong I am compared to you guys! I've been training a lot and I think I can maybe hold my own. Hopefully." He spoke, his gaze traveling to the Namekian. He saw the two talking and simply scoffed, Seigi attention coming back to the red Gi man.
"I like your spunk kid. The name's Akio. Nice to meet you." He spoke, reaching his hand out. Seigi reached for it with his, shaking it. "And that brooding green guy over there is Cumber. He's not much of a people person, especially when I'm in the room," He began, letting go of Seigi's hand, "See, we're in rival schools and he thinks his is better. That's mainly why I'm here. See, I don't really care about winning the money either, I just wanna beat that guy." Akio said. Suddenly, a man in a suit walked in, waving.
"Helloooo, fighters! Who's ready to battle? The first two up are Akio S vs Akira Shenou! Please make your way to the arena!" The man then promptly left the room, leaving the door open for the others. Akio saluted Seigi, walking towards the door.
"See ya in a few, Seigi. This should be a sinch." He said confidenly, leaving the room with some guy with nunchucks and an afro. After he left, the silence returned. Seigi moved back to his seat, sitting down. Cumber let out a sigh, then for the first time, spoke.
"Don't listen to that guy. He's not here to fight me. He's here to recruit for his dojo. Tch."
Seigi's eyes widened a bit, wondering why Akio would want to recruit here. He supposed it made sense. Strong fighters assembled here, and if he could recruit them, it'd make his dojo stronger. But most of the people here were strong enough that they didn't really need a school. Seigi supposed he would just have to investigate further....
Only a few moments passed by before Akio walked back into the room, giving Seigi a thumbs up. The announcer came in once more, as cheery as ever.
"What a great match! Next up... Seigi Ikazuchi vs Tsuyo Heiwana! Fighters, please make your way to the stage!" Once again, he left, leaving the door open. The massive man with the gauntlets stood up, grinning at Seigi. Seigi gulped, knowing that this was gonna be a rough one. But, he had no choice. He had to fight! Standing up, he followed Tsuyo out of the locker room and into the hallway, leading to the arena. Both fighters didn't speak to eachother, the only sound was their footsteps on the tile floor and roaring cloud cheering them on. As soon as they entered sunlight, the crowd got even louder, excited to see the two fight. The announcer took his spot on the stage, holding a microphone.
"That last fight was magnificent but you'll LOVE this one! Hailing from the Satan City, weighing in at 150 pounds, he's the hot-headed heartthrob, the snowy haired prodigy, he is Seigi Ikazuchi!" The announcer yelled, ushering Seigi onto the stage. He took his place on the opposite side of Tsuyo, who was stretching his shoulders.
"And in the other corner, from parts unknown, he's the Ferocious Giant, the Monster of Steel, he's your RETURNING CHAMP, He's Tsuyo Heiwanaaaaa!" He bellowed, raising his arms into the air. Seigi gulped.
"R-returning Champ!? There's no way I can beat someone who's already won the tournament before? I'm gonna stand a chance against him!" Seigi thought to himself, sliding into a defensive stance. Tsuyo grinned, pummeling his gauntlets together, the sound of steel filling the air with loud bangs that caused Seigi to jump. But nonetheless, he had to try. Seigi looked at Tsuyo, trying to come up with some sort of plan.
"Alright, the guy's powerful but he's also big. The bigger they are, the more energy they have to use. All I gotta do is outlast him and then strike when he's weakened. I can do this!" Seigi thought, always being the type to form a plan before approaching a problem. This was like any other fight, he just needed to play it smart. Tsuyo began stepping towards Seigi, still banging his gauntlets.
"Don't worry kid, I'll make this quick. Just hold real still and I'll..." Tsuyo pushedh himself forward, moving at blinding speed towards Seigi, his knee aimed towards Seigi's stomach. Bringing both of his arms, down to block it, his arms connected with Tsuyo's knee, feeling the full brunt of the kick. Seigi slid backward, towards the edge of the arena. The guy's knee was powerful, but Seigi could surprisingly keep up. He could feel his heels over the edge, looking behind him. If he managed to fall out of the arena, then it would be game over. He needed to move away from the spot. Tsuyo seemed surprised that the knee didn't send Seigi flying but the young warrior would use this to his advantage. Flying forward, Seigi arched his arm back, reeling it for a huge punch. Tsuyo saw this and moved backwards, which was exactly what Seigi wanted. He had no intention of going toe to toe with this guy, but instead wanted to use his head to outsmart him. By taking away his momentum, it put Seigi in a better position. Tsuyo's arms came up to block Seigi's punch, but just before Seigi got to him, he disappeared, reappearing behind him, launching a sweeping kick below Tsuyo. The giant was caught off guard, falling backwards, Seigi quickly rising up and using this to his advantage. He brought a massive hammerfist downward, onto Tsuyo's chest, knocking him into the ground. The crowd went wild as Seigi knocked down the champ and even Seigi himself was a little surprised. Had he been underestimating his own strength this whole time?
Seigi jumped away from Tsuyo, putting a few feet between them, allowing Tsuyo to stand up. The goliath groaned, craning his neck to stretch it. A loud crack could be heard as he moved it.
"It's been awhile since someone's managed to get me on my back. I guess you're stronger than you look. That just means I'm gonna go full out!" Tsuyo roared, running towards Seigi. He began to throw multitude of punches, hit after hit, throw after throw, the young Saiyan predicting and dodging every one, his speed much more than what Tsuyo could handled. As his punches caught only air, Tsuyo's frustration could be seen as his attacks began to get sloppy and the weight of his own muscles and gauntlets began to wear him down. Seigi saw this as an oppurtunity, and as Tsuyo threw another punch, Seigi deflected it, jumped up and Tsuyo in the face. He let out a scream of frustration as Seigi put distance between them again.
"I'm gonna kill youuuu!" He bellowed, putting his hands together for a massive downward spike. Seigi quickly moved, but the force of the attack was so great, even though he dodged it, the stage splintered beneath the attack and shook Seigi off of his feet. Rolling to recover, he was quickly met with Tsuyo's foot as a massive kick caught him in the ribs. Flying backwards, he rolled towards the edge once again, lying motioneless for a second. The crowd gasped as it appeared that he had beat Seigi, the massive man throwing his hands up in victory.
"Yeaah, still number one baby!" He roared, throwing his hands into the air. But as he began to flaunt, Seigi's body moved, the boy picking himself up from the ground. His eyes were hidden by his hair as it hung in front of his face but a small dribble of blood could be seen on his mouth. He smiled, his hand moving to wipe the blood away, his gaze peering up towards the man. He felt his entire body tense up as power rushed through his veins, Seigi letting his Saiyan side take hold. With a roar and a massive push, he quickly approached Tsuyo, who thought he had won. Seigi's leg caught Tsuyo's back, sending the man flying. He flew forwards, out of the ring, into the crowd, the crowd quickly dispersing as he flew into the stands. The entire arena was silent for a moment before erupting into a huge sound of applause. The announcer's face was one of utter surprise and shock, turning to Seigi, raising his hand up.
"Seigi Ikazuchi wins! Unbelievable!" He yelled, still in awe that the boy had enough power to do that to Tsuyo. Seigi smiled, catching his breath, then quickly left the arena, heading back towards the locker room. Once in there, Akio was there to meet him, patting him on the back.
"Great job kid! I didn't think you had it in you, but you proved me wrong! Who knows, if you can beat old champ, you might just win this!" Akio stated, setting Seigi down. Seigi let out a nervous chuckle, leaning back into his seat, and closed his eyes. The announcer entered the room, grabbing the next fighters.

An hour passed, as fighters came and went, slowly dwindling down the pool to just Seigi, Akio, Cumber and the stranged masked man who had been identified as "Kira". Finally, the announcer came in, grinning.
"Alright, the it's time for the semi-finals! You've made it this far, let's see who the best fighter is! Next up is Cumber vs Kira! Please make your way to the stage now!" He said, once again leaving the room, leaving only Seigi and Akio in there once more. Akio was oddly quiet, looking to be deep in thought, Seigi simply staring at the ground. They both knew that after this fight, they would have to fight each other, and so they were attempting to not get psyched out. But not even a minute passed before the announcer came back into the room, but with only Kira in tow. Akio stood up from his seat, looking as if he was filled with anger.
"Hey, what the hell? Where's Cumber!?" He asked, wondering why his rival hadn't come in. The announcer raised his hands, scared of Akio.
"H-he lost so he went home!" He replied, taking a step back from the enraged Akio.
"What do you mean he lost? He's the best fighter I know! You're telling me he lost to ole skull head over here!?"
"I'm afraid so! Sir, you and Seigi are up next!" The announcer said, but Akio shook his head.
"No way. I came here to fight Cumber. If I can't, then I don't care. I quit." Akio said, sitting back down in his chair. The announcer was dumbfounded, but then his attention shifted over to Seigi and Kira.
"I-I suppose we move into the final match then. Seigi, Kira. Please make your way outside." He said, before exiting. Kira crossed his arms, stepping outside, silent still. Seigi stood up, exhaling. Akio was still pissed, but looked at Seigi and gave him a thumbs up.
"Go kick his ass for me, will ya?" He asked, to which Seigi nodded.
"Got it!"

The battle was in full swing, but it was clear who was winning. Kira was leagues beyond Seigi in skill, speed, and power, but for some reason, he was pulling his punched, preventing Seigi from falling out of the ring. A kick to Seigi's chest cause him to slide backward, the teenager gritting his teeth from the pain. Various cuts and bruises and scrapes littered Seigi's body as Kira had completely manhandled him, beating him every chance he could. Seigi kneeled down, his gaze still upon Kira as the masked man stood silently, waiting for Seigi to rise.
"Why... don't.. you just finish it." Seigi said through exasperated breaths.
"Because... I'm here to see how strong you've become, Seigi." Kira said, reaching up to his mask. Pulling it off of his face, he moved his long, silver hair out of his eyes, revealing a face that seemed familiar to Seigi. It took a moment before he realized..
"Mizuna." Seigi said, rising up. The leader of the Saiyan Death Squad that had killed his parents. The very man who he was training his hardest to overcome. The Saiyan nodded, clipping the mask on his belt.
"Correct. You've gotten stronger, Seigi, but you've still got a long ways to go before you can take me on. Tell me, did your father tell you about a Saiyan's greatest weakness and their greatest strength?" Mizuna asked, his arms resting at his sides. Seigi struggled to remain upright but was slowly finding himself filled with more and more power as Mizuna spoke.
"He told me that the closer a Saiyan gets to death, the stronger they become." Seigi said, huffing. Mizuna let out a laugh, almost mockingly.
"He is true, that is one of our strengths, but he never told you about a Saiyan's tail?" He said, removing his robe, revealing his bare chest, and wrapped around his waist, was a tail. It unfurled behind him, releasing itself from his waist.
"I'm going to show you the power of a true Saiyan. Let me see how you fare against this!" Mizuna said, raising his hand upwards. A ball of light rose into the sky, the rest of the sky turning dark, as if it were night time. The people in the stands were confused, oddly quiet at the new turn of events. Mizuna stared up at the sky, and suddenly began to change.
His body began to grow, bulking up and becoming larger. Fur began to form around him and he began to laugh, his voice changing from normal to deeper, almost beastlike. Seigi's eyes widened, the boy taking a step back as he watched the events unfold before him. Mizuna was now a giant, growing even larger, turning into a... giant monkey? Seigi's gaze turned towards the people in the stands, who began to watch what was going on.
"Go! Get out of here! Run!" Seigi yelled, ushering them away. People began to yell and scream as Mizuna completed his transforming, becoming a giant Saiyan Ape. He beat on his chest letting out a massive roar.
"Seigi! Let's see how you fare now! Hahahah!" Mizuna bellowed. But footsteps caused his attention to shift.
Akio was walking up behind Seigi, hands in his pockets, his gaze on the giant ape. He let out a whistle, grinning.
"Man, it's been awhile since I saw one of those. I'm surprised he changed so easily. What do you think, Cumber?" Akio said, the Namekian taking his place on Akio's side. Cumber looked him over, then grinned.
"I think he's just wanting to show off. Tch."
Akio laughed, his hands coming out of his pockets. "Alright, Seigi, let's take this guy down together. What do ya say?"
Seigi nodded, all three of them focused on the ape. Mizuna raised his foot up, attempting to stomp on Seigi and the others, all three dispersing in different directions as the stage beneath them was destroyed under the ape's weight. Seigi flew upwards, circling him, getting around his back. Mizuna turned to reach towards him, but Akio was there to stop him. Flying upwards, he punched Mizuna's arm upwards while Cumber went behind his legs, kicking the back of his right knee, causing Mizuna to lose his balance. Akio caught up to Seigi, flying next to him.
"He may be big but he's slow! Go for the joints!" He said, before flying off. But Seigi had another idea. Mizuna had said the tail was a Saiyan's greatest strength and weakness. So what if Seigi cut the tail? It was worth a try! As Akio and Cumber flew around him, keeping Mizuna distracted, Seigi got behind the massive ape, aiming for the tail. A newfound sense of power filled his veins, Seigi wanting to give this everything he had. Grabbing around the base of Mizuna's tail, he began to fly upwards, lifting the ape up. He felt his entire body flex as all of his being was being put into this attack. Mizuna was caught off guard by Seigi's strength, as he was lifted up by his tail. Seigi then spun slightly, throwing Mizuna into the stands of the arena, his massive frame destroying the entire side of it as he landed face first. Seigi's eyes then went to Mizuna's robe on the remains of the arena and the many swords he had on the back of it. Flying downwards, he grabbed one, watching as Mizuna struggled to pick himself up, his weight cause the stands to crumble whenever he put his arms on them to pick himself up. Letting out a groan, Seigi saw this as his chance to move. Flying forward as a massive speed, the sword caught the tail, severing it quickly. Mizuna let out a roar as his body began to transform, shifting, the stands falling on top of him as he shifted back to normal. Akio and Cumber took Seigi's side, staring at the destruction before them.
"Nice going, Seigi!" Akio said, play punching Seigi. Seigi huffed, raising his arm up, forming a Ki blast, but Akio stopped him.
"What are you doing!?" Seigi screamed, wanting to finish this right here, but Akio shook his head.
"He's done. He's beat. You won. There's no honor in killing someone who can't fight back any longer." Akio spoke, moving to put himself between Seigi and Mizuna. A spacepod flew down from the sky, Seigi watching as he crawled into it, then quickly left. Seigi grit his teeth and cursed but knew ultimately that he was right. If he killed Mizuna right here, then he would never find out who the other Saiyans were. Mizuna would be back and next time, Seigi would be ready. He's put him down like the dog he was, just like he put down his parents.
