That feeling.
It was hard to describe it; it was pretty much like you had been years away from home, and the moment you were to step inside, memories would just overwhelm you. And while with Arion it wasn’t precisely the case-- after all he had been away only for six months, it had been for a decision he had taken upon extreme circumstances; where did he leave off last time again? They were blurry memories, but he could still remember pretty much everything. From Nasu’s unusual behavior to the battle of the two siblings-- Atsuko and the Saiyan Overseer.
However, what he’d have never expected was that someone would use the dragon balls during the battle, and unfortunately, not for the greater good. Honestly, he had considered that someone could have used the Dragon Balls for their benefit, but he’d have never expected that they would have revealed to be a huge issue for the planet itself. As such, the dragon balls were turned into stones-- and not only for a limited amount of time. Arion decided to disable them for the moment, for the greater good.
On the other hand, he didn’t exactly know Atsuko’s opinion about the matter, but after disappearing, he didn’t hear from her, not at all. He had also considered activating them once more, but that’d be too dangerous. What if someone else were to collect the dragon balls and once more cause a disaster? Not everyone on Earth was interested in the well-being of others, and people would likely use them for their reasons.
The Namekian stepped out of his space pod, stretching out as he took a deep breath. He had been inside that thing for hours and hours, and as quiet as space travel could be, it wasn’t that comfortable.
“Aah… Earth… it’s been a while.” - he muttered under his breath, lifting his gaze up as he admired the sky for a brief moment.
“I wonder how’s everyone… who knows, there might as well be another Assistant in my place.” - he thought to himself, letting out a chuckle.
“--Oh, where am I anyway?”
The Namekian glanced around for a brief moment, it took him a few minutes to recognize the place, but there was no mistaking that he was in Korin’s Holy Grounds, just like last time. However, this time it seemed that no one had apparently come to ‘greet him.' Probably no one noticed the space pod.
“Ah well, guess there’s only one thing left to do…”
Arion took off to the skies and flew upwards, evidently aiming for the lookout. And as he did, he also looked down for a brief moment; catching a glimpse of the tribal homesteads below, it had sure been a long time since Arion had interacted with them, he’d likely catch up with them sooner or later. But then, as he lifted up his gaze, he realized how much time had passed since the siege on Earth by the hands of the Saiyan Alliance. He could feel that no one was up there, on the lookout, he had trained his senses enough to feel someone’s ki even in outer space-- but there was a sensation that struck the Namekian; it felt as if no one had looked after the lookout for quite a while. In this case what Arion had feared had become real; Atsuko wasn’t around, not at the moment at least. The Namekian had felt such a sensation throughout his entire journey on Planet Namek; he couldn’t exactly tell why but he feared that she had never managed to come back from the portal she jumped in last time during the fight against Nasu. He had no idea about what happened to her, nor did he know how he could gather any information on her persona. How was he supposed even to know where that portal brought her?
As the Namekian passed by Korin’s Tower, he considered paying Galen a visit and see how things were going, but he figured that the two would likely meet sooner or later nonetheless. And when he saw the Lookout’s basement, he couldn’t help but crack a smile in excitement, his speed increasing as he finally arrived on top, landing on its shiny floor.
“It sure hasn’t changed, huh… What am I saying?... Of course, it hasn’t. Back then, even when I first arrived, it was just as shiny as it is now.”
The Namekian walked around, holding his staff while glancing around. Everything was just like he remembered; the white tiles, the palm trees, and the air itself was pleasant to breathe. Okay, maybe he was exaggerating, but he couldn’t deny the fact that he had missed the planet, its inhabitants, and the Lookout. However, one thing was different this time around; there was no Kami. Where Atsuko had gone off to, he couldn’t even imagine. But the Lookout couldn’t indeed remain without a Guardian, and that was when he remembered Elder Katsu’s words-- that he was initially sent to Earth to fulfill his duty.
He couldn’t help but feel somewhat nervous, and of course, he’d be. It had been over a year that he had been an assistant and assisted Atsuko in her role as Kami, for him to take such a step seemed rather inappropriate, but a feeling deep down himself told him that he was doing the right thing. Just like that one time he had become an assistant, it was as if an old spirit still wandering in the whereabouts were the one suggesting him whether something was right or wrong. He knew that such an explanation was outright absurd, but he didn’t know how to explain it himself-- it was way too complicated. However, he could tell that deep down his heart; he felt honored by such an opportunity. It was time for him to take on the elders’ will.
Arion stepped close to the edge of the Lookout, watching out in the distance as he thought to himself that he’d probably ponder the decision for a little while before he’d sit on the throne that was meant for the God of Earth to sit on.
The Tower Keeper was finally home after his long absence and it felt good. Of course he wouldn’t be staying for a long time nor all the time, at least not yet; he had things to do in order to become a better protector of the Earth. Still, to be on the place fate chose as his home was comfortable and felt right, giving him a warm fuzzy feeling inside his chest. He had the opportunity to talk with his guardians, the members of the Korin tribe and the news he heard were rather unsettling: Atsuko Inoue had vanished out of nowhere and no one knew where she was. Galen sighed when he heard the news, but then again he remembered about the Atsuko he encountered in the battle above the northern sea and that person was very different from the honorable guardian he met on the Lookout. ”I guess some things are meant to be… But I can’t help but to feel concerned about our situation. Without the guardian… Without Kami… We are vulnerable…” that thought made him feel a heartache, still there was nothing he could do about it other than train with Jie Shan and Cleo in order to become a better warrior.
Galen took his time, tended to the senzu trees, watered them and shared his ki energy with it in order to make it grow for the future: right now he had only four beans and that was a dangerously low stock if another invader attacked Earth; the defenders Earth had right now weren’t all that powerful and the healing power of the beans was all they had to defend themselves against those foul villains. Once he had finished his job, he wiped the sweat of his forehead and exhaled. ”Alright my friends! Now it’s up to you! I will take better care of you now… Hopefully I won’t be knocked out for so long again! Hehehe” he said to the trees in a kind tone.
Then he felt something, a strong power level. Not as strong as someone like Jie Shan or the beasts Nasu and Caesar, but enough to be considered way above the normal warrior’s level. The power level rivaled Galen’s own after Galen had the blessing of the Holy Water and intense training and it felt absolutely familiar. Galen closed his eyes for a second and then the lone swordsman realized: ”Master Arion!” the sudden realization came with an intense surge of happiness: Atsuko may be gone, but Arion was back from Planet Namek and, truth be told, Galen deeply respected the namekian, who also helped guiding him on his quest to become the Tower Keeper.
Without wasting any time, Galen flared his light blue ki aura around his body and took flight straight to the Timeless Lookout, with adrenaline rushing through his veins with the thought of seeing an old friend and teacher. In a matter of seconds he reached the place and, near the edge, he spotted the Namekian. ”Master Arion! You are back!” he shouted in excitement as he landed near the Assistant. Upon looking at him, Galen could already tell he had changed. He had this mysterious yet powerful aura around himself and that made the human arch both his brows. ”Wow… You look… Different, master!” he said, finding trouble to find more proper words.
They say beauty was within the shell, however Cleo would disagree. Beauty was everywhere in the world, inside and out. She would fly across the sky, traveling across the world to come to the Lookout. Why would she come across the world to go to the Lookout? Obviously, she has had it with no answers. She wants to meet this Kami once and for all! She has been told about this Kami being so bad but yet she has yet seen or sensed this kami yet. She needed to know actually if this Kami was real to begin with. She has not seen the kami for herself to believe it but she's going to find out now if she exists. She's already climbed the long Lookout long ago so flying up there would show no dishonor. She would see the Lookout just ahead! "Ah! There's the Lookout! I can sense two signatures and one of them is Galen! Excellent! This is going to be exciting!" she said with a smile as she thrusts herself forward faster!
She would fly faster until she slide across the tile floors on top of the Lookout and was low to the ground at first. With moments low, she would slowly pick herself up and look idle with her arms crossed. At first she would not give the two a look but with a smile she turned to them, "Heya guys! I'm here to meet this Kami once and for all! I wanna really see if she's the devil or not!"
All at once there were more power levels arriving on the lookout! She could jsut barely sense them, as Lucy was just now learning to use her ki to sense others... but there was definitely more people. She squeaked excitedly before shutting her eyes tightly and focusing on the energy she felt. Maybe her mama had come back for her after all this time! She was beginning to get lonely here on the lookout! Sure she had Cicero, but he was hard to understand sometimes... and miss Cambia? Well she was always off taking care of the little one... so she never really got to do much of anything while she was here. On several occasions she considered leaving the lookout and returning to the small village she had found near the base of the tower... but she couldn't shake the feeling that, that was the wrong thing to do.
Soon, she could get a solid read on the energy signatures of those on the lookout, and her face saddened when she found out that it wasn't her mama... she supposed that, regardless of who it was, she should go out and see what was going on...
Lucy pushed herself to her feet, patting down her dress and adjusting her hat before she made her way out of her room. She would sneak around the lookouts palace as best she could until she made it to the stone pillars at the entrance of the palace. She made it out to the very last pillar and stayed hiding behind it, looking out at the green man and the other human, as well as the girl that now arrived. Jeeze there certainly was a big crowd... jsut what was going on...
She took in a deep breath, small tears threatning to escape her eyes as she fought against her nervousness. She stepped out of hiding, making herself quite obvious as she stood at the entryway of the lookout, eyes locked on the intruders whom she truly didn't remember.
"W...What are the 3 o...of you doing h...here? T...This place isn't... isn't a tourist attraction!" She called out to them in a horrible attempt at intimidation.

"Stupid kid," Jie Shan muttered as he flew along, "She knows we're training today. I didn't give her leave to go gallivanting about in the east..."
Jie Shan continued to mumble under his breath as he flew through the air, making a beeline for the girl's ki signature. Silvery hair whipped behind him as the winds coursed against his body which cut through the air like a fine, silvered knife. Jie Shan was not angry. No, it took much more than this to upset him. More than anything, the hybrid blademaster was annoyed. At the very least, she could have asked him for some time off, but no. Now, he was going to have to go out there and find her and give her a talking too. Luckily for him, Jie Shan was able to track her ki signature across the entire damn planet. There was no escaping his lessons. None at all.
As Jie Shan came closer to her signature, he was suddenly aware of the presence of other ki signatures around her. One, he noted, was Galen, the rather pleasant young man, barring his incident in which he rolled around in the buff on Jie Shan's floors, that Cleopatra had nursed back to health. The others Jie Shan did not recognize. Was the girl cutting class to hang out with her friends? Good, thought Jie Shan bitterly, he'd embarrass her in front of them. Maybe Galen, too, if he felt like it. However, one thing burned with curiosity in the back of his mind: these ki signatures were quite large. He supposed it was only natural; all of Jie Shan's friends and acquaintances had quite the energy reading as well.
Finally, the location of Cleo's signature popped into view. And as it did, the clouds and beautiful blue sky around it framing it like a portrait, it struck Jie Shan like a hammer: he had seen this place before. This, he thought, was the place that Nasu had told him about near on a year ago when they had started Jie Shan's training in the Soy School. And now it was finally in front of him, and it looked even more lovely in person.
But what was Cleo doing here? Frowning, Jie Shan burst forward like a bullet and flew towards the sky island. He hovered over for just a second, piecing together the scene below. Cleo, Galen, what appeared to be a little girl, and a Namekian. Jie Shan frowned. His last encounter with one of their kind nearly ended with bodies on the ground. But it would be wrong to judge the man for that, so he put it squarely in the back of his mind for now. He had more pressing matters to attend too. Jie Shan descended, dropping out of the sky like a cartoon character, landing behind Cleopatra with a sharp tap as his feet hit the tiled floor. "Cleo!" He shouted, "Just what are you doing out here? There's training to be done!"
He lifted a single finger to point at Galen. "And you!" He exclaimed, suddenly cracking a smile, "Glad to see you've found your pants. Good job."
Shaking his head, Jie Shan smirked and turned his gaze to each of the strangers in turn. "Sorry if I'm intruding," he said happily, "Just trying to keep tabs." His Saiyan tail swayed jollily behind him.

Something that Arion would never forget was the planet’s sky; it was so lovely that even Namek’s was dull compared to it, even if the wind didn’t blow so much around here because of the enormous height. But, by the time Arion had started to take care of the Lookout, he had already gotten used to it. It was quite difficult to remember how everything turned out this way; from Arion’s first arrival on Earth to take on the role of Kami, to be Atsuko’s assistant and the one who would usually assist her in the matters of learning her duty. It was quite curious considering it was usually the other way around, or so he remembered at least, but he couldn’t quite deny the fact that she was a Saiyan. He didn’t exactly hold any grudge towards the warrior race; aside from Nasu, but he guessed that all of them possessed nearly the same blood.
On the other hand, the Namekians were a peaceful race aside from the Mazoku who were pretty much the opposite of the pure-hearted ones. One could compare such to the yin and yang; the positive and the negative. And he had met lots of the latter ones during his time on Earth, but he had also met lots of friendly people! That was worth it-- some of them were weak, others were incredibly powerful and had contributed to the Earth’s well-being in ways that he couldn’t have ever done in battle.
“I wonder where’s everyone… Quite a few people were hanging around here back then; Atsuko, Cambia, Bernael, Chris and now it’s empty.” - he muttered under his breath, a hint of sadness in his voice as he was about to turn around and walk inside before he picked up on a familiar signature.
It was surely stronger than the last time they met-- thanks to Korin-sama who had managed to portray somehow Arion, who at the time was on Namek, all the way from Earth. But he couldn’t surely forget about him.
As soon as the man revealed himself, a smile crossed the Namekian’s features out of happiness; it had been a while since he had seen Galen the last time. He had sure not changed that much in matters of appearance but his mere presence below at Korin’s Tower was enough for him to tell that he had not been slacking. “Galen! What a pleasure to see you after so long.” - he replied, focusing his gaze upon the human as he landed near the green man.
Arion rose a brow to the swordsman’s comment; was it so really evident? He knew that the Dragon Clan’s training would have rendered his aura sharper but at the same time as tranquil as a river, but he would have never expected that anyone would have noticed that quickly. However, he was glad of such. That meant Galen had a good grasp of his senses and what surrounded them.
“I’ve been through a lot of stuff on Namek, but I must say it’s been a quite enlightening experience for me. Helix should be here soon himself, but as of now, I’ve hurried up here to check out if what I’ve feared all the way from Namek was true-- and it seems I was right. I can’t see or sense Atsuko anywhere around here. Is she still gone or has she been slacking off? The Earth already suffered years of being lost without a Guardian; we can’t let that happen again.”
Shortly after he felt another signature about to reach the two, he couldn’t tell who it was supposed to be this one time, though. He didn’t have much of an idea aside from the fact that it didn’t seem like whoever possessed such ki was half bad, but it must be no coincidence that someone else was flying up the lookout; they had probably sensed both the Namekian and Galen all the way from below.
The Namekian tilted his head slightly as he saw the black woman, he seriously had no idea of who she was. But he’d imagine that she had some connection to this place if she had sensed the two up there. Not to mention that what she said left Arion even more perplexed-- and somewhat concerned. What did she mean? What did Atsuko do?
“...The devil? Err. Apologies but what brought you to affirming such a thing?” - he asked with a hint of curiosity in his words.
But that was only the first of a few.
Not too long after Cleopatra showed up, another suddenly came out of the temple-- and that enough was suspect enough for the Namekian; why was she there? Not to mention that he was pretty sure that there have never been kids up the Lookout, what did he miss during his time on Namek?
To her terrible but noted attempt of intimidation, Arion replied to with a soft tone of voice. She was still a kid; he didn’t certainly want to scare her. “I’d like to ask you the same question. What are you doing here?”
But then again, someone else showed up! What was going on? Sure, the lookout was known for being visited every now and then by some fantastic people, but this was severely getting out of hand, especially considering that this one time the person’s signature was unbelievable! Arion couldn’t help but stare at the persona blankly for a brief moment in awe; he looked pretty much like any earthling if it weren’t for the man's tail.
It was another Saiyan. He had never met this one. However, he had to say, that he seemed to be a quite enjoyable one. More than Nasu for sure. On the other hand, he couldn’t tell what the hell meant when he addressed Galen about his pants, but Arion decided to let that slide-- at times it’s better not knowing certain things. Although, it seemed that he had apparently a connection to the woman who had shown up earlier; by what he said, the Namekian guessed that they were training partners or something like that.
Arion nodded, offering a faint smile to the newcomer. “It’s fine. I guess everyone has to look after something-- or someone.” - he replied, before clearing his throat.
“Aheh, well. I guess it’d be proper for me to introduce myself to those who are not aware yet; I am Arion; Master of the Dragon Clan and formerly known as Kami’s Assistant. For reasons I’m not aware of, the latest Kami’s gone missing… and I’ve taken the decision to watch over this planet myself from now on.”
”The pleasure is entirely mine, Master Arion! You can’t even imagine!” he said in a happy and respectful tone. Indeed, it was good to see that someone was actually back at the Lookout; the position of Kami was of utmost importance and Atsuko’s disappearance was quite problematic, but if Arion could just fill in the gap, everything would be alright and, on top of that, he seemed far more capable as he would soon explain; he had trained in the Dragon Clan Arts, thus making him into a more suitable vessel for the position he would soon claim. When the Namekian asked him about Atsuko, he sighed sadly and shook his head.
”Well… About that… Master Atsuko disappeared… When you left some things happened… Caesar attacked us after a saiyan went rampage and destroyed the citadel. Lady Atsuko… She was different… Some evil aura seemed to have taken over her, I don’t know. The gentle soul was no more. To make things worse, I fell in battle and thanks to a kind person I was able to survive.” he said. It was very synthetized but there was so much to talk about that he didn’t even know how to say it all and before he could continue, he sensed a very familiar energy signature approaching. ”Cleo?!” he wondered. The woman soon landed and complimented him and even went as far as to imply that Atsuko may be a devil or something and Galen sighed in mild annoyance and embarrassment; he was, after all, a servant of Kami.
”Cleo! Show some respect! This is Master Arion, he is a very important person! He is… My Master and the current Assistant of Kami!” he said in his kind tone, but with a little of reprimand on it, as he frowned his brows, and then, he turned back to Arion, wishing to explain. ”As I said, Master Arion… Lady Atsuko was… Somehow, weird… If I may… She was changed the last time I saw her…” he said, sighing sharply as it pained him to admit that Earth was in sort of a dire situation. To make the whole situation more troublesome, a girl appeared out of nowhere and it seemed like she had been living in the Lookout. Arion was the first to ask who she was instead, since, well, Galen and Arion ARE supposed to be on the Lookout, but the girl, however…
”Little girl, I’m sorry, but we are the ones to ask. I’m Galen, the Tower Keeper of Korin’s Tower and this one here…” he said, pointing his hand towards Arion. ”Is Master Arion, Kami’s Assistant. He lives here and I live a little down below.” he kindly explained. Once he finished saying that, he sensed a great power approaching which alerted him for a second, until he saw that the source was Jie Shan and then he exhaled relieved. ”Thank goodness…” he thought to himself.
When he arrived, he scolded Cleo for leaving her training and then spoke to Galen, cracking a little joke that made him blush. ”I’m glad for that too, Master Jie.” he said in a respectful tone, and then shut up completely as Arion began to introduce himself to those who didn’t yet knew him.
"My name's Cleo! I'm apart of the X-Fighters and I'm training to become the best this world has ever seen! I wanted to meet the Kami myself because she failed to protect my family and home from the evil forces of the universe. Though it'-" and before she could finish she would hear that sharp landing behind her which automatically gave her the chills running down her spine. It was her master Jie Shan! She quickly stood stiff as Jie Shan yelled in her ear, wondering why Cleo strayed off to the Lookout. With a shaking expression, she'd turn around towards Jie Shan who looked nervous, "Jie Shan! I-I didn't expect you too follow me here! I thought training was later! That's why I strayed off to here! I-I wanted to meet the Kami! I-Instead I met this guy who seems nic-" suddenly another interruption! GALEN! She quickly turned around and waved towards Galen with a happy expression, "Galen!! My goodness how I missed yo-..!" but it wasn't something Cleo wanted to hear. Galen would tell Cleo to show some respect towards the Namekian which automatically made her frown. She would remain silent for a bit as that didn't go well for her. After not seeing Galen in such a bit of time, she actually missed talking to him a lot! To hear him talk like that would kinda hurt her feelings but she had to play it cool somehow! She kept her sword to her side as she heard the unusual child make her appearance coming out the temple. She would peer her eyes over to the child but didn't give in to saying much afterwards.
The group around her began communicating which made her give her a better reason to be quiet. With her master there she didn't really need to speak. Cleo had her master there to talk. She would sigh as she crossed her arms, not bothering to say much as of right now. However, soon hopefully she'll have some room to jump back in!
"I'm here because... because this is my home... and mama's and auntie Cambia's too!" Lucy exclaimed a little more confidently this time! However, it was her body that betrayed her as she took a step back from the intruders on the lookout. How was she supposed to deal with these people? Were they good or bad? They didn't look like they were here to hurt her, but the Green man, Arions, said something that caught her attention. He had been mama's assistant? That was reassuring... but he then said he would be taking the role of guardian in her place and that... that Lucy couldn't accept. Mama was going to come back, and she couldn't let him be guardian instead of her... that meant her mama was actually gone.
Her eyes started to water at the thought but she shook her head as Galen spoke to her, making it look as if she was denying what he was saying.
"If you're mama's assistant why... why haven't I seen you before? You must be lying... You can't take mama's position as Guardian because she... she's coming back! I... I'm the one who... who's looking after this place for... for now." Lucy said defiantly, drawing her hands close to her chest as she stared at them all defiantly. She could tell that they were all very strong, so there was no way a little girl like her could do what Atsuko did and fight them off... but she had to do something... Mr. Cicero would know what to do...
The demonic Saiyan grumbled as she stepped out from the palace type building on the Lookout, rubbing the back of her head with one hand, holding her sword in the other. "Alright, what's with all the racket out here? I swear if any of you wakes Okra up, even Shenron ain't going to be able to put you back together again." she declared before registering who all was here that she actually recognised... which was all of three people. The Namekian she recalled, and the guy with the sword and bandanna, and the little girl that had come with Atsuko back from the Demon Realm... whom she had meant to be keeping an eye on, but had done an abysmal job of it so far.
"Hey Lucy... sorry I've not been around much for you. Okra's finally gotten through the worst of his teething stage... just glad he couldn't see any full moons during that." she said, heading up to the girl to try and give her a pat on the head before looking to the rest of the group. The one that concerned her most was the Saiyan male who she had honestly thought was a female at first, what with his effeminate looks and long silver hair, his power was about double her own... "So, did I catch what Lucy said right?" the demonic Saiyan asked of them all, her tail flicking around behind her. "You're trying to take over Atsuko's job cus she's finally decided to take some much needed vacation time?" she asked Arion, covering for Atsuko's disappearance. Least she hoped her half-sister was taking a vacation... preferably not down in Makai.
Cambia glanced down towards the little girl beside her. "And yeah, he's your mama's assistant. He was just off... doing whatever it is that Namekians do." she explained to the little girl, before looking back around at the group. If it came down to a fight, she was sure she could take Arion down no problem, especially after all the training she'd been through with both Atsuko and Nasu... the problem again though was the silver haired guy. She had no clue which way he'd go.

Jie Shan raised an eyebrow in doubt, giving Cleo a judging look. "Uh-huh," he said, "So you thought it was later. Likely story. Aren't I usually pretty clear about when we're going to be training? You know, if you just wanted the day off, you could have asked. I might have even given it to you. But sneaking off to meet this so-called Kami? I might have to ground you for that one, Cleo. Or maybe make you scrub the tiles in the courtyard with a toothbrush. That's what teachers do, right? Hand out arbitrary punishments to their students, right?""
Jie Shan flashed a toothy grin as he spoke, whipping his hair behind him with a single hand, strands of it catching on the sheathed blade on his back. Clearly, the young hybrid was joking. At least for the most part. In truth, he was annoyed, but even now he could find it in him to forgive her. After all, Jie Shan was a wanderer at heart, too. He knew was it was like to be bound in one spot by the crushing chains of obligation. It was enough to trample that spirit that all such wanderers and vagabonds had, the natural curiosity that was a part of all beings with souls. And look where it had led her, and by extension, Jie Shan himself. To a place Jie Shan thought that he would never get to see in person.
But he nodded to Galen, pointing at the boy once more and snapping his fingers. "Just see that you keep them on this time," he chuckled, "Maybe you ought to start carrying around spare pairs of pants instead of magic beans. Might do you more good. And really, Galen, drop the whole 'master' and 'mister' junk. I'm nobody worth attaching honorifics too." Speaking of magic beans, he thought, perhaps he ought to get Galen to show him those while he had him around. Seemed a good as time as any. Or perhaps later. Maybe the boy had not had time to tend his crops, given how he had only woken up a few days prior. Still, it was something to think on.
But there were other matters at the moment. The Namekian welcomed Jie Shan, and Jie Shan shot him a warm smile and a thumb's up. 'Arion', thought Jie Shan, and it seemed as if he was familiar with Galen. And, by that measure, the Namekian must be a decent enough sort. "Thanks," said Jie Shan, "I appreciate it."
And what was more, it seemed that the man was set on becoming this planet's guardian. Jie Shan raised both eyebrows in interest, his face contorting as he nodded his approval. A fine goal, truly. Each planet could use a guardian. Though all Jie Shan noted was, well, the man was not very strong. Indeed, Arion seemed to be the weakest here, the little girl included. That was, if Jie Shan was being entirely honest, kind of embarrassing. Didn't the Namekians produce strong warriors? Jie Shan had fought one of their kind and experienced the power firsthand. But this man was a far cry from that kind of strength. But, Jie Shan had to give him credit; the Namekian's heart was in the right place. And really, that was all that mattered.
Jie Shan would have introduced himself right then and there, but it seemed there were other matters afoot. First, the kid cried out and shouted at Arion. She'd been maintaining this place? A pang of sadness shot through his heart. Poor kid, maintaining their mother's home while they were away. The kid, thought Jie Shan, must be holding out on hope, waiting for her mother to return. And Jie Shan knew that pain firsthand.
The second matter was the some girl arrived on the scene, Jie Shan's eyes instantly flying to the blade in her hand. Almost reflexively, his wrist twitched and he had to resist the impulse to draw his own blade. An entire life's worth of combat and beatings came back to him in an instant, and the very sight of a weapon in a sudden arrival's hand was enough to make his heart beat a little faster. But he, of course, resisted. Now, he thought, was not the time for him to go and start drawing his blade.
But the girl did not seem hostile, at least not at first. Instead, she went to comfort the girl. But it was not long before she turned her ire on Arion, and Jie Shan was left shaking his head. Clearly, he thought, if the man was stepping up into the role of the guardian, it was needed. Jie Shan did not know the full situation, of course, but he was good at one thing: making assumptions.
Jie Shan cleared his throat as he stepped out from behind Cleo and advanced towards Arion, spreading his arms wide, palms outward, as to show the rest of the strangers he came in peace. "Well, well," laughed Jie Shan, "It seems I've walked in on something important here. Cleo and I, well, we're strangers here, but Galen can vouch for us. We're all about this 'guardian' stuff as well."
Jie Shan came to a stop between all the strangers. "I suppose I should introduce myself, then," he said happily, offering the crowd a small bow and a cocksure smile, "My name is Jie Shan Lan Dian. Not that the name means much to you Earthlings, of course. It is quite... otherworldly in-nature, I know."
Jie Shan rose from his bow and crossed to Arion, head bowed in respect. He came up to and stood beside the Namekian, making to clap him on the shoulder. "But believe me when I say that I'm all for this guardian business," said Jie Shan, "And it seems to me that if Arion -And I do hope I said that right, Namekian isn't my strong suit- is willing to shoulder that burden and dedicate himself to the protection of this planet, I say let him. He's volunteering to take on, what I presume, is a lot of responsibility. Clearly so, if your sister needed a 'vacation'."
He looked at both the women and the little girl in turn, tilting his head amiably and flashing them his best smile. "His heart is clearly in the right place, right?" Exclaimed Jie Shan confidently, "I'm sure we can all get behind that. We all want the same thing, right?"

Among all of those people, the most familiar face was Galen’s, whose respect and happiness that the green man appreciated a lot. It made him feel at home, and it was probably one of the most human feelings he had ever felt in a while after departing from the blue marble for Namek. However, what he had not expected were the news that the human was about to deliver him that day-- on Atsuko and pretty much what happened while he was gone, which Arion implied to be a lot considering how confused he was at the moment.
That Atsuko had disappeared, he had already realized, but he ignored the identity of this Caesar fellow-- who was he even supposed to be? Either way, whoever he was, it seemed that he had been up to no good. And Atsuko had apparently turned evil? It was something that he couldn’t exactly muster up, but maybe it was related to that guy the Kaioshin’s assistant warned them about long ago. That was a possibility, but if such was true-- and he fully trusted Galen. He knew no one more honest than him other than Chris that lived on Earth.
Such news was truly saddening for the Namekian; he had done anything he could have for Atsuko in her time as Kami but had apparently failed to protect her from the wrong path. He guessed that he couldn’t have done otherwise considering the circumstances, but maybe if Arion had stayed a little more before departing, he could have done something about all of this.
“So… that's what happened huh.” - he muttered under his breath with a hint of sadness in his voice as he just ignored the discussion between Jie Shan and Cleo, and anyone else that would have tried to speak to him. He was distant with his mind, thinking about any possible scenario that could have led Atsuko to change like Galen had described, but his knowledge was limited to the events that had occurred on Earth during his training on Namek.
The moment he snapped out of his thoughts was when the little girl spoke up once more declaring that Atsuko was her mother. … Wait, what?! Arion couldn’t help widen his eyes, looking at the girl in awe as he couldn’t just believe what she had said-- not only Bernael and Atsuko had married but also went through parenthood?! For all the Kaioshins, he had even expressed his pleasure in joining them in such a happy day-- but something wasn’t right.
Arion hadn’t been away for years-- if Atsuko had given birth, by humanoid standards, the baby would likely not be old enough even to walk! “...Oh my, don’t tell me they’ve put her in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber…” - he thought to himself, but dismissing the thought shortly after. He was more than sure that they wouldn’t have done such a reckless thing. He sighed as the kid exclaimed the fact that she hadn’t ever seen him before, which was a fair point, but before he could give out any explanations, Camba joined the group as well.
And naturally, she inquired upon the business that Arion had come back for, and in a way that didn’t exactly fit the painting but again, before he could go on any explanation, he was once more cut off short, this time by Jie Shan. However, he had to say that whoever this Saiyan was, Arion could say that he was impressed. He had never met a Saiyan that spoke so fluently and politely towards others; he could tell why he was seemingly friends with Galen; he felt like a genuinely enjoyable company.
Not to mention, that he had even bowed his head in respect to Arion; it was sure something off the charts for a race such as the Saiyans, but he had to admit that such brought a smile to his face, nodding in appreciation. Even if, he had to say, his name was long. He’d probably just call them Jie to make it short.
As Jie Shan was done talking, Arion guessed that it was finally time for him to speak.
“I must say that I don’t have much to say aside from what Jie has already stated. But, I can understand your concern and truly appreciate how much you care for Atsuko-- it’s a human thing, and first and foremost, she’s to be respected since she has done much for the Earth, and I taught her so much so that she could blend in her role. However, here we are not talking about a job or a title-- we’re indeed speaking of the well-being of the planet. That’s all I am interested in-- and whenever Atsuko will come back, I’ll be the first to welcome her, but as of now what matters is the present and the future.” - he stated before taking a few steps forward, holding his staff as its end tapped the ground.
“Being Kami isn’t a job-- it isn’t something you get rewarded for-- but a sacrifice, a duty you take upon your shoulders for the entire planet. A role that has been revealed itself to be essential in the past, as much as some of the Guardians were even weaker than me, had guided strong warriors on their path against evil. Atsuko’s sure sacrificed herself a lot for the planet, and for that, I’m grateful. I don't know whether she’s taken a vacation or not-- since the details of what happened are still not clear to me and this is not the place and time to discuss about it. Either way, the planet can’t be left like this. I’m sure both of us agree on this, for you have fought on our side before.” - he said, staying silent for a moment or two-- giving time for everyone to elaborate all the information.
“That is all, on my part. I can only hope that I’ll be able to provide guidance and any other kind of help to our new generation of fighters.”
Arion had given out his speech; now it’d have been up to Cambia whether to consider it or not. In the worst case, he couldn’t say that he hadn’t tried to reason with her-- for he is foremost a peaceful being; a Namekian.
When he noticed Cleo frowning from his reprimand he grimaced a bit, feeling a little bad he was somewhat stern with her. ”I’m sorry, Cleo. I miss you too… Just… This is a very serious matter and I think something troublesome will happen…” he admitted, feeling a little unease with the whole aura of the place. Jie Shan told Galen to drop the mister thing and he blushed a bit. ”It’s just hard for me… That’s what my parents taught me to do and, honestly, that’s all I have left of them…” pained him to remember the death of his parents, but they always told him to be polite and respectful with people, a desire he had every intention of upholding.
The girl seemed really adamant about standing her ground, claiming this was her home, her mama’s home and aunt Cambia’s home. If Galen remembered correctly, Cambia was Atsuko’s sister, meaning this girl was probably Atsuko’s child, as odd as it may sound. ”Never thought she was old enough to have a kid this big…” Galen thought to himself in amusement.
The kid accused Arion of lying which made Galen sigh and then she started saying Atsuko was coming back and that she would be the one looking after this place for the time being. The lone swordsman felt for the girl, he truly did. He wanted to just go there and say everything would be alright, but that wasn’t a situation where they could just let it be up until Atsuko decided to return. No, she had a responsibility towards the planet and there was no excuse to go missing without a proper warning, she could use telepathy all across the galaxy, for god sake!
The next to arrive was Cambia and she seemed quite irritated with the noise, which only made Galen nervously scratch the back of his head. ”I knew it would become problematic…” he thought to himself, still hoping this whole situation could be solved quickly. Cambia’s tone was somewhat aggressive as she accused Arion to try and take over the position, a statement that couldn’t be more wrong. And vacation? That wasn’t a thing for people in their position. Whenever you get the calling, you act and that’s it. It’s sacrifice, but he didn’t need to say that, Arion knew well and he could stand his ground.
Jie Shan spoke then, saying Galen could vouch for them and he quickly nodded. ”Indeed. They are good people and they want to protect the planet.” he added before the hybrid continued, showing his support to Arion’s decision and to hear that made Galen’s heart pound in joy. ”Thank you, Master Jie.” he thought to himself, and then Arion started and with every word, Galen felt more certain he was the right person for the role of guardian of the Earth, more so than himself and even Atsuko, when he finished speaking, Galen couldn’t stand idle and, with a determined look on his eyes, he spoke.
”I believe in Master Arion. Together with the spirit of Master Korin, he guided me towards the path I took and I became the Tower Keeper, and having become the Tower Keeper I learned a lot by studying. One thing I know is that I would never be fit to become Kami, because of my rage and tension. Although I try my best to clean my thoughts of violence, anger and revenger, deep inside they linger onto my soul and unleash when I’m in a dire situation. The saiyans, from what I’ve seen, also have this burning rage fueling their soul and that’s alright. But the Guardian of the Planet must be above that.” he paused, taking a deep breath. ”The last time I saw Master Atsuko, she was touched by evil. The Kami of the past had to get rid of his dark self in order to be ready to watch over the Earth and, right now, the only one pure enough for this whole is Master Arion. There are plenty of wholes to fulfill when protecting the planet and I now that my rage, your rage, miss Cambia, and Master Atsuko’s rage will play an important role, but for the higher duty we need someone as enlightened as Master Arion. A Namekian of the Dragon Clan, known for its wisdom and pureness of heart.” he stated, firmly believing in every word he said.
Business was now being put into motion. However, everything was starting to catch her attention so sudden. Her dark eyes peered over to the green namekian who began speaking. Why his voice... It was actually reasonable and something a devil would never dare say. Cleo would slowly step forward, as Jie Shan began to state that he has a right to become a Kami. Galen too would explain it as well! Was this really the truth? Was this Namekian known as Arion such an inspiring role for Kami? Cleopatra would give the namekian and warm smile, crossing her arms. "You know what... I really do believe it now. I believe that Mister Arion too could be the next Kami. After all, he was the Kami's Assistant after all. He was there since day one for her. Regardless of her being a corrupted kami or not, I can feel something honestly great about him... Mister Arion, I have never met you in my life but... I have a feeling I'd be honored to call you my Kami... Shoot, I'd actually love to be your assistant! I think you could teach me more about balance and becoming someone better for the world," she explained to Arion with a smile.
Though there was something weird in the air that made her feel uncomfortable. It was rather the blonde girl to approach forth or the little girl beginning to cry mentioning her mother.... Or both. Cleopatra's eyes peered towards the two, giving them a rather nervous look... She would slowly rub two fingers to her head... This would look like her head would hurt but really... She was telepathically communicating secretly towards Arion, Galen, and her master Jie Shan... 'I don't know these two's intentions but... I have gained a bad feeling that these two are not very welcoming for our arrival here... Mister Arion please be cautious. I will make sure you are safe if things get ugly... If these two are indeed related to the previous Kami, than we may have a problem for you to become a Kami as of now... I will not strike first but I will keep Lich Fang very close...' she telepathically communicated towards the group.
"Gah... My head is starting to hurt from all this... I can't believe we may finally have a kami..!" she disguised herself, avoiding a possible suspicion of something being plotted. With her fingers slowly dropping she would put her under her weighted trench coat, gripping the handle of her sword, secretly. She didn't want violence to occur however if she needed to keep the peace, she will enforce it. She looked towards Jie Shan, giving him a look that perhaps only he would know. It was a look of unsureness. A look that made her look nervous about the current situation of things. She would remain calm though, trying to keep herself cool for now.
When Cambia placed her hand on Lucy's head she smiled gently, shifting sideways to cling to Cambia now as a way to try and hide herself a little bit from those that had gathered on the lookout. She was glad that Okra was finally asleep and that Cambia had come out... she wasn't sure she could handle having so many strangers around all at once, let alone what to do with them when they wanted to replace her mama. She clung to Cambia tightly as her eyes started to water slightly as she glared at Arion with quite the pout to match.
"She's coming back..."
The girl grumbled lightly before letting the others speak. The silver haired man with a tail like Cambia and his mama's spoke, trying to reassure her and Cambia that they all wanted the same thing in the end, so there shouldn't be any conflict... That wasn't true at all! Lucy wanted her mama to come back and for things to go back to normal, whatever that normal was for them... she didn't know this big green man and didn't trust him... even if auntie Cambia did say that he had been her mama's assistant.
She listened to all of them, her eyes darting from one to another as they took turns speaking, but the one that bothered her the most was still Arion. Lucy finally let go of Cambia as Arion spoke, a dark and sad look crossing Lucy's face as she walked passed Cambia and started walking slowly towards Arion... in what looked like a sudden rather ominous display, crimson energy started to radiate from Lucy's body with every step she took towards the Namekian. Then, all at once Lucy started running towards Arion!
She raised her fist as the gap between them closed, and then raised the other and started wailing her fists on his hips repeatedly! All semblance of a true menace vanished as the little girl threw her tantrum while beating on Arion's waist again and again.
"You-won't-replace-mama-I-won't-let-you!"
At this point Lucy started crying between every punch she tried to deliver!
