Evaluations.
They were reviews of one's performances, which in a job like being CEO at Capsule Corp, could perhaps be a monthly review. Outside of such a workplace however, like the training that went on in her mansion, it was best suited to be bi-weekly. A majority of those who resided here after all, were human, who although persistent, were fragile.
But that was no excuse for not being prepared for certain scenarios and situations. This group had to learn when to act and when not to, if they wanted to survive the kind of hardships that getting into danger could bring.
It was all testing done on paper, or for those who didn't want to spend the time, like her cousin, answered directly. Those who were able to fight, like her allies however, would get more than just answering questions.
She needed to test their abilities to the point where their spirit could possibly be broken. Everyday it felt as if she was getting stronger, though whether or not the others could say the same, she would see for herself.
The first on her list, was the Saiyan, who was her youngest ally. Out of the three she considered to be both her allies and bodyguards, the girl had been the one who had improved the most, to the point where she was sure the Saiyan could take both the Majin and the Supidoan at the same time. It wouldn't be an easy battle, but it could be done.
She wouldn't admit it, knowing that she had to keep a respectable distance to those she worked with, but she was proud. The Saiyan represented the progress and work that she had put in, to get the girl and the others near her level. Together, those three could destroy a good part of a city with ease, if there was no interference.
It actually felt like her path to power was really getting somewhere close to completion. the best thing was, this week's evaluation would be different. For quite some time, right outside the wasteland, she had contractors working on building a sizable stadium. One which resembled the kind which could be found in a martial arts tournament.
The area it would cover would really do wonders fighting in, without much worry of destroying anything. That was the beauty of distance. With enough of it, whatever energy put into a ki attack, would dissipate when the focus broke.
It wouldn't save the tiled flooring, but that was easily repairable. Each and every day construction was going on, she had spotted the Saiyan or one of the others visiting. This kind of work was always interesting to view, though she was certain that she wasn't the only one having been looking forward to the day of completion of this project.
That day just so happened to be today, and along with it, was her plan being furthered. All the research she had done since branching away from her coven, could now be put to a more practical use beyond meeting just another sample of her data. She could now start testing whether or not speed really was the way in dealing with those she met.
Her base speed should be enough to deal and dodge any blows the Saiyan might throw. She might even throw a couple of ki blasts or so, but this testing of hers would be mostly reliant on both her stamina, and the force behind her punches. If it went as well as she hoped it would, she might not even have to tap into her inner power for this.
Leaving her mansion, the tarp she had set up and over the entire building, had acted as shade for this warm weather, as she stood out on where it would have been good to have had a porch. Sand crinkled beneath her feet, and she turned towards the construction site, to see standing right outside of the finished stadium, was the Saiyan.
The girl was there like she had asked her to be, which was frankly a bit of a surprise. Perhaps it was because it was new and would be more efficient fighting in against someone else for the first time, that the younger girl hadn't taken an early start. Unlike the armor her ally wore, which would likely work up a good sweat, she was dressed for the weather, garnering light clothes that wouldn't hide her skin from any blows. Certainly modest enough to wear.
What presence the sun had on her as a Vampire was noticeable, acting as if someone was lightly gripping onto her, but knowing that she was going to wind up getting hit anyway, it was hardly going to be an issue for her.
"So here's how we're going to do this. Come at me with all you've got, and maybe I'll go more than my base speed."
Speeding over to the Saiyan, who didn't even flinch at the display, there was no easy into the taunts she gave, which she knew the girl would be upset by. The difference between the younger girl and the Majin being irate, mostly lied in the latter brushing things off as she attacked. Maybe even returning a different taught right back at her.
With the Saiyan however, she was straight up charged at, red orbs of ki clearly being channeled. There was no hiding any of the girl's movements, though she questioned whether or not the girl would really even care about such things.
It was tempting, to go and use the girl's technique, knowing that her own was capable of beating it. But instead, she had dodged what she could of the quickly flying orbs, most of which whizzed past her. Some struck her however, pushing her back a little, though what she was able to dodge naturally had been worth the burning pain she was feeling.
If she could dodge more than a handful of those orbs, and she wasn't even going at the top of her base speed for this, then what would stop her from dealing whatever blows she could, when she had? That was one of the mistakes she had made while fighting against that swordsman. Too much was reliant on speed that was not her own natural one.
Sweat had yet to build up for her, though her breath was starting to quicken. The charge she made towards the girl didn't die down, and if anything, only grew more faster, as she went and closed the distance between them.
This was her top base speed. She could feel it in her legs, while her lungs had adjusted to the shift in position she took, as she threw punches left and right at the Saiyan, who met her punches with the girl's own blows.
The difference between theirs however, was that the girl had to back up, in order to avoid what could have also been a good shove back from a punch. Having her opponents struggle was what she had wanted. This top speed of hers at her base, wasn't even fast enough to have her hands blur away. That was the insulting thing she wanted the girl to see.
Though things had appeared to be at her advantage, she knew that if she had fought someone with a weapon, she would have been at a disadvantage about now. The range she was fighting at was naturally two close to comfort, and if her opponent had quite a fair bit of stamina, then they would not tire out like she would want from rushing like this.
It helped that the punches she was throwing at the Saiyan were thrown all around, as judging from the girl's expression, it was making her think on her feet, but a ki attack at this range could easily force her back.
The Saiyan, for as long as she had gotten to know the younger girl, wasn't one to dish out ki blasts. She preferred to physically punch people, or throw orbs which would lead into being able to punch them. That was the girl's issue.
One that would work, as she wasn't keen on moving away from her base speed right now, resulting in her being grabbed by the arm, and an orb of ki slamming into her. The force behind the sphere jolted her body, and was followed up by another one which really pushed her back, creating more of a gap between her and the Saiyan, giving time to recover.
Pulling herself up with a cough, she could feel those blows just sitting there at her gut, while the younger girl slightly hunched over, as if she was going to do another charge. It was clear the girl was more tired than she was, but that was also a driving force that likely motivated her ally. The fact that she would be forced to defend herself, no matter how exhausted she actually was. Her lips curled up into a slight smile, as her hand pulled back and fired.
A wave of ki, different from a blast in that it was a relatively thin beam, instead of just a thick mass of energy, was fired at the girl. Her other hand held onto her gut as the other just continued to fire numerous waves.
The Saiyan's ki had flared all around her, acting as temporary support, while the girl charged forward, blocking any hits towards her body through swatting the waves away. With it, the ground had shook from small tremors, which if she hadn't been aware of such a possibility, she would be more cautious of the stadium walls that surrounded them.
It seemed to have thrown the girl's charge off balance a bit, which was something that she had been hoping for. The idea of not letting her think, that some opponents seemed intent on doing, wasn't something which should be an issue, if she created an obstacle like this to off-set their balance. Flying was a good counter however, but not the end.
"Whatever pain you're feeling won't be over just yet. I guarantee it."
She was back to using her speed again, to block rather than attack, this time around. But what punches she had been able to caught, she had held for as long as she was able to, just to reel in the fact that she was capable.
The Saiyan was rather simple when it came to fighting, though did have her moments where it was clear there was intelligence in all of that brunt force. What she had been able to see of the girl so far, is that she truly didn't care about her surroundings, just like she had wanted. There was freedom with that open space, that much was clear.
Even with whatever blows they had managed to deal at each other, she couldn't say that her mood had soured. If anything, she was elated, and in a way, her blocking the Saiyan's attacks was like dealing with a chasing ki wave.
She was unable to do much at the moment, and either would have to make some room through her own force, or taking the hit and creating the right gap. Already dealing with the latter for the most part, she had moved back at the given opportunity. Persistence and not allowing time to recover, was the wonderful thing about having stamina.
Back then, in front of everyone, the kind of energy that she exerted made it so where even when she had let her opponent come to her, she was still at a disadvantage. Too busy enjoying herself to really notice what she had done.
She felt a similar strain even now, with the major difference being how back then, she had been in a transformed state, and that weapon had served to be a thorn in her side. Modesty was such a human weakness, and downright illegal at her age, even though she was much closer to being seventeen, than she actually was with being sixteen. This whole evaluation just wasn't going to up and change that mindset of embarrassment for her, but there would be progress.
Now would be a good time to proceed with phase two.
