Settling back into school sometimes proved to be difficult.
Whether she had a good experience, or a bad one, traveling to some place far like the Southern Island, could cause her to feel displeased with having to go back to a normal life. At least, until she had gotten things settled here.
There was nothing much she could do, if she wanted to have a proper education, but it did tend to make her willing to withdraw from those around her, as she focused on work. Friends and those she knew who were curious, would otherwise find her talking to them while working, paying attention to nothing other than what had concerned her.
It was easy to miss things when she was in such a mood, though nothing she didn't feel that she could just inquire on if need be. Should it really be important, explaining things to her once more shouldn't have been an issue.
This past week, she had been looking to find some time to let out her worked up thoughts and frustrations. But there was much work that had to be done, and not enough hours in the day for her to go and finish them all.
Not unless she wanted to forget what she had read, as soon as she had taken her exams and quizzes. This material needed to be understood, not just passed and be done with. There were people who thought differently, she was very aware of that, but she wasn't one of those people, as interesting as only a handful of what she read was.
Though one thing she had become rather aware of, despite not really paying attention to it, was the sister of her crush, who she so often ran into. It didn't matter to the girl what kind of mood she was in.
The brunette, who was only a year younger than she and her brother, always seemed to be interested into talking to her, and what she had been up to. While not interested in the conversation with her current mood, the girl didn't seem to mind her short answers, or that she was paying more attention to her work, than to her.
Always the type who she considered to be rather busy, whenever the girl had approached her, and gone to ask what she was curious about, she would leave. More than she could say about most, but her presence was something that was noted.
It didn't linger on her mind like some things might when she was curious, though she was also too busy to wonder what a girl her age could be doing, talking to her in short bursts, before just outright leaving.
Speeding back home to the mansion, as the school day had gone and ended, a stack of books were in her arms, which would need some reading. The two she considered to be the cooks in this mansion, greeted her as they usually did, though much like the other days since coming back, she had only nodded as she moved on past them.
Her thoughts were on the assignments she had in class today, and how to put the methods to practice. Ascending the stairs and heading towards her room, the surroundings of the mansion went unnoticed by her, as things such as formulas or history lessons went through her mind. These were the subjects that could potentially hold her interest, though more often than not, failed to do so, despite her viewing some of what she was reading to her own life.
Equations and the like seemed to be created to get to solutions faster, while history was recorded to prevent past mistakes from being made in the future. Material which she could apply to her plans of taking over buildings similar in wealth to Capsule Corp, and trying to see if she could determine how fast an ally or minion would need to move.
Maybe even the kind of damage that would need to be dealt to get someone towards a certain angle. These were subjects, that she could muster reason all she wanted, but it was truly only the experts in the field, which could break it down to her understanding. That was the reason the employees she had at Capsule Corp, were all useful where they were.
Nothing which would truly intrude on her plans, but certainly something to pay attention to. As reasonable as she felt these thoughts were, she couldn't transfer it to paper. Most of the work she was doing, would need to be checked over by someone else, and likely to get partial marks off. Though so long as they were worth less points, it was fine.
Part of education was all about being able to apply what was done in class. There were the sort of people who couldn't see that, and because of it, she had come across many sorts of people who were either lacking in reason, or simply had too much of it for her own good. These alien species could be cultured to an extent of within reason.
To have that, and still choose to do certain things she could only imagine was out there in space right now, was one that would require a change in their system. A change that she would be able to make, given time and resources.
Leaning back into her chair with a sigh as she stretched, her pencil was placed down, and she turned her eyes towards the clock. It had only been two hours since school had ended. There was still daylight left to be had, though she still had two sets of required reading left to do, and by then, there wouldn't be any personal time left for her.
She turned back towards her work, hand over her eyes as she took a quick rest. There were years upon years of life ahead of her as a Vampire, and while her senses had only grew sharper since turning into one, that didn't mean her eyes wouldn't feel strained looking at a book for so long, along with note taking giving her own summary.
It was sweet relief to be away from something so taxing such as cram school. At least at Capsule Corp, she had people to explain her things, with a careful eye that they weren't pulling some method on her involving either confidentiality breaches, or some other. Jealousy and bitterness was still very prevalent in places like her work.
But part of that was the result of youth and the gap in experience, which could only be closed as time had gone on. A sudden familiar presence headed right towards the mansion, had kept her from grasping onto the pencil she had sat down for the moment, her mind filling with images of the peculiar girl who she had thoughts of earlier.
This speed the girl was going at, was far above what she knew her to be capable of. There were three other unfamiliar signatures with her, though she highly doubted it was some kind of hostage scenario. As curious as the girl seemed to be, along with the active life she wasn't really sure what kept the girl busy, she wasn't trouble.
That honor went to her cousin, who as far as she was aware of, the brunette actively avoided. Her work wasn't yet finished, but clearly whatever was going on must have been urgent, if she was being sped towards like this. Things should come to light and make more sense to her, when it was all explained to her.
Didn't help at all that her mind was filled more with thoughts of her school work, than anything else. Her surroundings blurred around her as she sped downstairs, ki flaring as her body went and focused on moving beyond what normal humans could only dream of reaching. She appeared as if she was teleporting from place to place, when she was really just moving fast enough that she didn't leave behind any after images or wind backlash.
She was down at the front door before her two cooks, who had switched to cleaning the place, could even move away. It was just her ki flaring, which made her base strength she kept freely loose, all the more obvious, as her presence was exerted. The door was open with a tap of a few buttons, and standing in front was the girl way paler than she remembered, along with two others who judging from their uniform, went to a different school than the one they did.
Though the girl seemed to be reasonably surprised, her attention, as usual, shifted elsewhere. A lot must have been on her mind. Unlike her however, the brunette clearly wasn't stressed about whatever it was she was so busy of.
"We need your help in beating up these Vampires."
There was no beating around the bush with the girl, whose posture had straightened up. She was coming to her with a problem like this, but not exactly why she was involved with Vampires? After a quick glance over at the other three, who nodded in agreement, she gave another look over at the brunette, her tired mind putting the pieces together.
Pale skin. All of them. There were no visible bite marks, which would have just healed over like an ear piercing, but the skin should have been enough to indicate what she was thinking. Though their power certainly still felt the same as a human. Had they all learned to suppress their power? Or was this just her exhaustion making up this conclusion?
Either way, the girl's gaze had shifted elsewhere again, and she seemed to be the one leading this group here. It was by far more than impressive, knowing some of these girls must have been at least a year older than the brunette.
"Alright, not sure what's going on, but I'll do it. Just make sure you listen when I tell you to."
The girl didn't hesitate in nodding, and as she left the mansion with the group, the smile she displayed, had turned back into something more neutral. If this group was having trouble dealing with another coven, than it was likely a territorial thing. She now only visited her old one only once a month for the annual culling, but the knowledge she had learned while being an active member, was one she hadn't forgotten, nor did she think it would ever be lost.
There was lots of blood to be shed, and this coven that they were having issues with, weren't just going to get 'beat up'. To go and make sure they wouldn't ever be a threat, the group would be slaughtered in cold blood.
Being a Vampire meant survival, and for the most part, along with her own experience, it was only in novels where another coven could just get away with threatening another. Did these girls even realize that when they turned?
The image of the brunette appeared in her mind once more, as the world reasonably blurred past them. Why would she turn for exactly? Being human, while had its many weaknesses, had its advantages in certain places. But the kind that places were involved with, were no longer ones she cared about. They were too human for her.
Though she heard talking going on behind her as she went and led the group, there wasn't any that she had personally initiated herself. Her acceptance was only because it was a problem that needed to be fixed, that someone she knew from her human life, was asking her to solve. She felt eyes staring at the back of her head however, and in a way that made her certain it came more from the brunette, than the other three that the girl had brought along with.
If there was something that the girl had to say, there was nothing stopping the brunette from doing so. She didn't really see the girl as that kind of person anyhow. Was it just because they weren't getting there fast enough?
"Stop over there."
A voice from behind that she didn't recognize belonging to the brunette, had directed to a sparsely open area in the forest, wide just enough to speed back and forth through, for cover or otherwise. The area wasn't one she recognized, but it was clear that a battle was meant to be taken place here. Likely when the sun had gone down in an hour or so.
Coming to a full stop without much effort, compared to these other girls who were panting in exhaustion, the gap in experience became rather clear to her, as she watched with surprise. It felt good knowing that she had came so far, but simultaneously she was distracted that they had all chosen to be turned, despite clearly lacking proper training.
"The others will be here soon for our usual meeting. Kota likes to be prepared well in advanced."
Stepping away from the group a little, she recognized this long silver-haired girl, to be the one who had told her to stop. Her expression was difficult to read, reminding her of her own, yet a huge difference between them, was being one to not take the lead. At least, in regards to obvious behavior that she could go on and reason for herself.
"I'm Natsumi, by the way. The others can speak for themselves, and Kota will make his presence known when he gets here."
The girl's name had been given, but along with it were references to others, even those who weren't here. Though the way things were said were a bit unusual, but something she couldn't really place right now. Something about the structure? In any case, she cared not for introductions, knowing interactions could be done without them from experience, though it wasn't one she was opposed of giving either. They likely already knew however.
"Well if Miki hadn't already told you, I'm Rukia. While I'm not apart of this coven, as someone more experienced I would advised for you three to look away when things start. It'll be over quick."
"How come?"
Her eyes fell onto the brunette as she made note of the girl, before glancing over the rest of them. One of the two girls who were left, a short lavender-haired one, spoke out with an expression that didn't change from the casualness she had seen earlier. It was only now that she had noticed the girl was eating a lollipop, nonchalantly.
"Miki said she was strong remember? It's why we came to her in the first place."
The last girl, a pinkette, spoke out in an excited voice, which had a certain liveliness different than what she was used to hearing. This was more of a didn't you know, type of excitement, rather than straight enthusiasm.
"That's Touka, and that's Yuna. They're not well, wrong. You know about this stuff more than we do."
Having closed her eyes after hearing those two, the brunette had opened them, introducing the two girls for them, and confirming what they had said. She already had a feeling that was the case, yeah. Experienced Vampires, especially a handful of ones like them, should have had no trouble with tapping into their hidden powers and killing these guys.
"I appreciate that you four have me in mind, but we'll need to talk when this is over, as there are a few things that I'm concerned about I'm hearing."
She turned away from the group, eying the skies, as it grew darker. Doing this favor would cut away into what hours she had left to do her work, though it couldn't be helped. She was needed and more than willing to show what they could be capable of with the right training and work put into things. But it would also cost some humanity.
Several presences in the distance was quickly heading here, and if they were as inexperienced as the rest of these girls, than they likely would be both out of breath, as well as unable to outrun her at her top speed.
Rather than wait, she had accessed the best form she had, her features changing as she tapped into hidden powers normally reserved to displaying her superiority. Which was what she was planning to go and do right now.
Her eyes had turned red, hands had become claws, and fangs fully retracted out of her teeth. Other than her eyes being slightly slitted, she still retained a relatively human appearance. The kind of pressure that she was letting out with her presence, as her ki flared out, was one which had the girls around her shaking with fear, their bodies tensing as her gaze fell on them. Those who were headed this way, she could hear their voices having regretted this decision.
She was going to enjoy this. Speeding off in the blink of an eye, she saw both men and women, only a few years older than they were. It was pretty typical of a coven to be at least a couple years older than a high school student, though it certainly didn't mean they had more experience. They were shaking like the others were.
Though she felt no sympathy, as she effortlessly shoved one back. This was just her base strength, yet one had already fallen so easily. Their features were monstrous as well, but they were more like hapless animals than anything, with that look of fear, as they realized their power combined, could never match up to her own one.
Slashing away at one, and shoving back another, she moved about the field far faster than any of them could ever keep up with. Not every one she struck died however. Each strike she dealt, was the accumulation of her frustrations built up this past week, with having no choice but to focus on school work, when it was stuff like fighting she wanted to pursue for herself. If she was going to go and enjoy this to its full extent, she wanted to see their expressions.
To hear their cries. Clearly this had been a group misguided by the ways of what a Vampire should and should not do. To go and try to take territory but not be confident they could pull it off? This would be the result.
The smell of blood started to linger in the air, sickly sweet with all of the different types. Downing what she was able, even knowing that drinking the blood of other Vampires had a bit of an aftertaste, these people here with the fleeting moment that was their lives, would come to know that she was doing had too much precision for this to be a bloodfrenzy. She was perfectly capable of thinking right now, and knew exactly what her actions were leading to.
She was no longer a fledgling, but a Countess of the Night.
