Spritz. Spritz.
Holding a spray bottle in one hand, and an absorbent rag in the other, she had wiped away at the newly wet surface, humming a cheerful tune underneath her breath. The morning had only just started, but there was already so much she would have to clean beyond just her room. Though she supposed that was just what happened living in a mansion.
Moving from place to place around her room, which always filled her heart with warmth, seeing all of the decorations with animals, dust was occasionally brushed away with the duster hanging from her waist. It was all just to touch the place up, having already finished vacuuming, which although was faster, didn't mean she couldn't do more cleaning.
Check over things and made sure she didn't miss any spots. The books she had were mixed together with notes she had taken, since coming to live in this mansion, and were one of the things around the room, she couldn't help but shuffle again. Slips of paper had caught her eye, most of which brought back rather fond memories of her note taking.
Although there were also bad ones, where the notes she took, didn't at all have the kind of neat penmanship, the others had. They were the sort of work she tried rewriting once, though could never really bring herself to alone.
She didn't like remembering what happened on those days. Asuka always read with her, when she wanted to try. They would spend at least an hour together in her room, as she tried to make sense of what she had wrote, without going into tears. She had only ever gotten a couple of paragraphs written neater, before she couldn't take anymore.
Today wasn't going to be the day she would finish. Or the next. She wasn't really even sure, when would be the next time she would feel like rewriting those notes again. The tune she was humming didn't stop, but it did get slower, along with her pacing, the more she found herself just thinking about the kind of things she didn't want to remember.
Leaving her room with her cleaning supplies, she made her way down the hall to the next room, which belonged to the closest friend she had here. The reason why, despite how they were treated, she continued to stay here.
The mansion was quiet, with everyone having already left to attend to their own things. Asuka had grocery shopping to do, around the same time that she had decided when she was going to clean the place this week. Like every other time when this had happened, she had promised the girl that she would be fine on her own, until the brunette came back.
Though really, it was a bit of a little lie. Someway or somehow, her friend was nearly always on her mind. None of the flowers in the world, or the carnival attractions, could really ever thank her enough for being there.
Without her around, she just wasn't sure what she would do, if the red-head, or any of the others had came home first. It was only the smell of sunflowers, as she walked into her friend's room, that gave her hope things would be okay.
The place was different than her own room, organized in a way that reminded her of when they got to stay at hotels. No wallpapers with animals on it like her room, and there wasn't really much around for her to go and clean either. But she found herself getting happy at the sight of it, and she did what she could to make it even cleaner around here.
If you're evil, and you're on the rise
You can count on the four of us taking you down
'Cause we're good and evil never beats us
We'll win the fight and then go out for pizzas
The sound of the vacuum, no matter how loud it could really be, couldn't hide the faint tune that she had been humming since she had started cleaning, only this had been more vocal. Like words meant to empower her, she found herself saying the words to a show she had only recently started to watch with the brunette. Only one of the things they spent time doing together, which she really enjoyed. What she wished they could have more of, if they had the chance.
But their lives just weren't what they used to be. She could still remember how often they had went out to go do something fun, back before they had lived here. They had places that were routine for them to go to.
Here, they were expected to earn what they used to be able to do freely, through long hours of training. If one of the others didn't think that they had improved, it was one of those days where they were expected to stay inside.
She was supposed to be used to it all now, but she just wasn't. Didn't want to be in the gravity room, feeling so much weight on her shoulders, and being unable to move. To feel sore at the end of the day, and having to smile through it for Asuka, who just seemed able to handle everything they were assigned to do, just like Ayumi and Hana.
Anything going on there on earth?
The sudden voice entering her mind, had made her jolt, stopping the cleaning was currently doing. This voice was one that so easily made her want to back up, and her mind unsure if what she was doing was right or wrong.
More so than any of the others. But her leader, and head Vampire, had that kind of effect on everyone. They didn't really know anyone around that could really beat the girl. Who really cared that she was in charge of them.
I don't feel anything, no.
She had answered as fast as she could in her head, where she could only imagine the kind of face the brunette was making. Was she angry that nothing was happening? Would Yui hear about this, and separate her and Asuka?
The thought was already bring tears to her eyes, and making her shudder. She found her arms wrapping around her body as she waited, staring at the vase in the room containing a single sunflower, in the hope it could bring confidence.
Though she had gotten something different instead. A sudden spike of energy had shot out, coming directly from the east, as far as she could tell. It felt a bit higher than the Matriarch's power, at least before transforming.
But she knew this was some other presence. Something that would only likely grow, if they were only holding back. What was going to happen? Were they all just going to die? They had felt similar energy before, but those had always went away sooner or later. This thing, whatever it was, it didn't feel like it was just going to end up going away.
Look, whatever that is, take the other mothership and have everyone come here. I don't care if this thing is a fluke or what. If Touka really believes what you're feeling, then you guys have to get off the planet.
The tone of voice the brunette was using, was just as commanding as it had always been. Her mind was being read, from the sounds of it, which was a thought that made her cheeks flush, wondering just how much the purple-haired Vampire had heard. It wasn't something she knew the girl would tell. They were more human than her leader was.
But her own head was supposed to be her privacy. She could only nod to what was being said, even though neither of the two could really see her, and left her cleaning supplies aside. What she had been told, she didn't want to piece together right now. Not without Asuka around, to help her through just what they were feeling must have meant.
There wasn't really any time to change, or even pack up. The two Vampires, different planet or not, would know if she wasn't taking this seriously. It was hard to leave, her body already shaking at the demand on her shoulders.
Though her leader didn't care about that. She just wanted her to follow orders. To get off of this planet. Leave behind people she knew, just because she was told to. These were people she could only ever write to. Her family.
"Mayu!"
Tears were already streaming down her face, when a voice had cried out, and one that wasn't in her head. At first, she had thought it was Asuka, but then her mind had corrected her. It was just Ayumi. She was the fastest of them, still on earth. Her chest felt a little heavy, as she quickly wiped away at her tears, not wanting the girl to see her.
"Lady Rukia sent me to get you. Asuka and the others are already waiting on the ship."
A whirl of wind had flown in, and she knew for sure that it was the brunette. Looking up at the girl with the best smile that she could put on, she had nodded, extending a hand out to the Vampire, to go and take her away.
She wasn't sure if her friend had really noticed that she was crying. Ayumi was like Asuka, in that they were always excited to feel something like this, hanging over their shoulders. She couldn't really understand it if she tried.
All she could really do was pretend and accept the things that now went on in her life, as the brunette had not only taken her hand, but had fully picked her up, speeding out of the mansion faster than she could even think.
Her face was buried in the girl's arm, as her heart raced.
