Saki was now walking in the woods towards the Orin Temple. He recalled his match with the strongman of east city and recalled that he said something to the tiger kung fu skilled demon.
”The only one who has beaten me was a monk in the Orin temple. They’re strong and skilled as fuck, mastering their Jin and Ki. You may have beaten me stranger but if you want real training I suggest you go to Orin Temple.” And with that, he gave saki a bamboo shaft. “This will show the monks that you beat me and are commited to training under them.”
Saki smirked as he walked through the forest, using his ki sense to track out the monks. The collective powers at the temple were strong, strong enough to interest saki. He then saw an abbot meditating in the woods. Saki stopped and bowed in respect to the abbot who opened his eyes upon seeing him.
“Stranger, your energy is dark. Your heart is inconsoled from past deeds but your mind is strong…what is your name?” The abbot said as he was on his knees.
Saki then got on his knees and bowed. “I am Saki of the fallen Tiger Clan! Please Train me!” he said bowing to the great abbot who used his right hand to stroke his beard.
“Tiger clan? Hrm….a man made a school with fundamentals similar to tiger…then two of his best pupils fought a demon. They both lost. One of them turned evil, that was the crane school founder called master shen. Another trained hard and became great. His name was master roshi of the turtle school.” The abbot said.
Saki then rose from the ground. “Crane and Turtle stance came from tiger? Tell me, what happened to their schools?”
The abbot then replied. “The crane school was remade by a Triclops named Tien Shinhan and the Turtle school was remade by a former orin monk named Krillin.”
“And where are they now?” Saki asked.
“They have faded into time…no one has replaced the turtle or crane master….their styles have faded into sands, vanished from the here and now.” The abbot said.
Saki smiled. “How may I begin my training? I’m a demon with a pure good heart….”
The abbot then smiled. “Alright…first I want you to get some fish for the junior monks. There is a pond close by.” He then pointed to the big bucket on the ground. “There’s a bucket for you to put the fish in…it’s not far…just 20 paces east.”
Saki then picked up the basket and walked 20 paces east. Soon he saw the pond. He then jumped in and looked for a fish, using his energy sensing skills to find a big fish. Suddenly he found it. He then grabbed the tail of the fish as it shot off into the air. The fish was now surfacing, shaking around as he got captured. It then went under the water and saki came up with the giant fish. “Wow! Your really small….” Saki said regardless of the fish being 50 inches thick and long. He then decended to the ground and began to walk towards the abbot who smiled upon seeing him.
“Wow! A 50 foot fish! This will make some good sushi for the junior monks! Come now lets go.” The abbot then directed Saki to the Orin Temple, walking through the front door with the 50 foot fish held by the tail, slung on his back. The monks at the door bowed to the abbot who said that this man was to be a student. He now walked in with saki and they walked towards the kitchen. He then gave the fish to the monk cooks that were standing outside of the kitchen.
“Now you wish for some training for your hard work? I’ll train you to become stronger. First I want you to follow me.” Saki walked with the abbot to the top of a hill which had 70 steps.
“For your first training, I want you to get water and fill up these barrels.” The abbot said.
Saki nodded, “Seems easy enough.”
The abbot then motioned to a monk. “Give him the lead shoes…” The monk went and put the lead shoes on the feet of saki. The monk then pointed to the two buckets that were empty and told him that his training would be done once the giant bucket was filled.
Saki nodded and went to get the water. He walked down the stairs, having to put his energy into his arms and legs as he walked. He soon reached the pond and filled up the two buckets. Now ready, he walked up the stairs. It was troubling to move up the stairs with so much weight so saki focused his energy and Jin in his body. After a long walk, he got to the top and dumped the water into the giant barrel like containers.
The monk smiled at Saki. “Well Tiger Expert, how do your arms and legs feel?”
Saki replied, “Taxing and stressful but I can take it.”
The monk spoke. “This training strengthens the body of the person who does it. The lead shoes cause you to put more chi into your legs, shins and ankles. It’s really taxing but you’ll get the hang of it. Afterwards, you should feel somewhat stronger.”
Saki then went back down the stairs with the empty buckets and stopped at the river, filling the buckets and walking up the stairs again. This seemed tedious and pointless to hi but he remembered what the monk told him earlier.
“This training strengthens the body of the person who does it. The lead shoes cause you to put more chi into your legs, shins and ankles. It’s really taxing but you’ll get the hang of it. Afterwards, you should feel somewhat stronger.”
He kept up his work, going up and down the hill until finally, the barrel was filled. Saki took off the lead shoes after completing his task and walked with the abbot into the temple for some special training.
Saki was in a special room which had a slippery floor. The abbot then had a monk demonstrate what Saki was supposed to do. Soon The monk was on the floor, sliding across it and doing katas similar to the tiger stance. Saki was impressed by the monk’s skilful movements on the slippery floor. It seemed like he was able to do the kata while moving on the floor but that wasn’t the main thing, the monk was in complete control of his movements while on the slippery floor, it was like he had good footwork even though the floor was slippery.
The monk then stopped in the center of the floor and bowed, the abbot then spoke. “This is the Tiger-Crane style combined. The tiger’s ferocity, viciousness and strength combined with the crane’s grace and dexterity. The trick isn’t simply strength alone but grace…you have to move with the motion of water to not only balance on this floor but to have powerful hits…”
Saki then got onto the floor and slipped. (God damn, this is going to be hard…) He then got back up again and put energy into his footbottoms, controlling his legs while on the floor. Saki then moved around using tiger kata like strikes but when he went for a kick he slipped. Using his skills, he spun on his back and preformed the whirlwind kick while spinning on his back. The abbot stroked his beard, impressed at the young master’s skill.
Soon he got back to his feet and began to throw strikes while sliding on the floor. The floor ws 15 by 15 in the center of a 40 by 40 foot room in the orin temple. He then pushed energy off of his palms as he was reaching the end of the floor and shot back, doing spin kicks while going backwards. He then preformed more tiger kata like moves, using his ability to fly or levitate to control his ground movements. (This is pretty cool, I’m actually able to control which way I go…this crane technique is quite impressive.) He thought to himself as he went on the slippery floor, training.
The abbot then smiled. “Brother monk.” He said to the monk that demonstrated the slippery viper technique. “This man is quite skilled, he carried the water from the river up 70 steps in record time, he has prowless to be a great fighter someday.” The monk turned to the abbot. “Yes abbot! He has the potencial for greatness but I can’t shake off the guilt I’m feeling from this man’s soul.” The monk said about Saki.
“Yes my brother.” The abbot said. “His soul feels older then most of our abbots, he has a past but it doesn’t equal the present. He might have been a killer in the past but now, there’s a peace to him. He’s reformed and repented his former sins and is ready to help lord buddah with what ever task he has.” The abbot said, patting the bald headed monk on his forehead with his right palm.
Saki kept moving on the floor, this time using snake kung fu. The strikes were precise and paralizing if they landed on a body. He kept moving around the floor and then bowed. “Abbot! I think I’ve mastered this technique! Please spar me so I can see how much more I need to progress.”
Saki now saw the young monk enter the ring and they both bowed. The monk went for a sweep and saki back flipped, landing on his feet which had ki going through them. Soon the monk shot forward with a volley of fast kicks at Saki who was blocking and parrying the strikes with his arms. Saki kept blocking until he got pushed to the edge of the tiled slippery floor and used flight to shoot forward and unleashed a tiger jackhammer fist on the monk, who was blocking and parrying said attacks with skill and speed. Soon the monk stopped sliding back and started to return fire which Saki was countering with his fists. (He can use kicks on the floor, I better watch out!) The blue gi wearing demon said to himself as he kept throwing down. Soon Saki decided to use the floor to his advantage and began to spin, throwing shots to the lower torso which the monk was blocking. Soon saki preformed a swipe to the chest of the monk, unleashing a wind of ki which pushed the monk outside of the ring. The abbot clapped. “Impressive, that was a good display of kung fu…but how did you manage to fire that burst of wind from your hand?” the abbot asked.
Saki replied. “My father taught me that technique, he taught me all the techniques, he was a master 1,300 years ago.” The young monk’s eyes buldged and his jaw was down as the abbot yelled. “One thousand and three hundred years?! How the hell were you even alive for that long?!”
Saki nodded. “I was originally human, my father killed my mother and nearly killed me…but a wizard found me and fed me a demon fruit which made me a demon or the proper term: mayko-jin.”
The abbot then shouted. “Then how are you able to control your demonic lusts and wants?!”
Saki then replied. “I was a demon for 280 years until I was sealed away by the wizard who gave me the power. I was sealed for 1000 years until my seal broke and my power was nearly gone. But now in this time, I see my true purpose. To protect and defend instead of raiding and destroying. I was wrong all those years ago when I became a demon. Death doesn’t solve problems, it makes problems. That and power scares people…that aren’t powerful. There is peace on earth now and I intent to keep the peace by any means nessasary!”
The abbot then bowed. “Thank you for showing me your heart and soul, I now see you can be trusted. Come back anytime for more training.”
And with that, saki bowed and went on his way to the bamboo forest where he had his house.
