Practice makes perfect.
The saying had some truth to it, but also failed to consider just what was trying to be refined in the first place. Something like robotics and creating Androids, was a process that required more time than she really had. A reason why she had people to do it for her, while she worked on the internal database of the machine, giving it information it should have and process, while considering just how exactly it would respond to its environment and people.
Her first two creations had already gone successfully, the gap in their completion, being due more to money than any complications. The secret to getting a good Android, at least in her viewpoint, she learned came from maxing their level of danger, to give them a realistic sense of awareness.
Their internal database would then match up how it should react with that sense of danger. There had been no problems as far as her own workers were able to tell of, and enough time had passed for the two Androids to develop and really mistaken for humans, if not for their blatant opening of their compartments.
But this one was different. A project she hadn't been sure she would have finished, but here she was, looking at it anyway. Rukiki. That was the true name of the machine who carried her likeness, although was otherwise dubbed as Android 7854, for Android RUKI. They were alone together in her room, which had the kind of layout of the one of her parent's home, although certainly bigger than what the brunette would have certainly remembered it to be.
Though that was kind of the point. Unlike the other two Androids, this one wasn't meant to go patrolling or anything. Her plans for the machine was mostly observation, a case study, seeing how a likeness with essentially her memories, would develop as time had passed. In a way, it would be a second life of sorts, while she was still living and around, although she wouldn't be the one watching over it. Amalga would essentially raise her, and hopefully rid itself of how clingy it could be towards her personally. It had been a few days already, and she was already making note of several things.
"I am cold, said little bear. Cold. Kōrudo. Cold!"
The tinier girl, who was made to look 8, was reading a children's book at her desk. Or at least attempting to. From her place on the bed, she recall the smaller girl stop to repeat a word, which was supposed to be some type of help for the memory. Though it could have also been because the girl found it to be humorous. The tone was so lively she could hear the smile in that voice, as the machine read the sentence fully over again, before moving on.
Supposedly, this was how she had studied back then, a time she couldn't really recall herself. Although there was more to it than this. There was a routine of sorts the machine also had while she was studying, which she watched occur now, as the girl had flinched in surprise, and sat her book down.
"Eh? Emi?"
It was the only two questions the girl was able to let out, as she got up, opening the door of the room, only to get out of the way after. Her method of studying she hadn't remembered, but this had always been unforgettable. Emi, had always just charged in while making fanfare noises, and landing on the opposite side. The blonde had also talked about what she had already done so far, before going on and hopping onto the bed, some snacks in hand.
Try not to get any snacks on the bed, okay?
"Try not to get any snacks on the bed, okay?"
She had thought about what the Android would say next, in the same moment the machine had said it herself, which was another thing she had noticed. If there was anything on the person's hands, the machine would give a warning first, before visibly thinking back to what had been said. All with a smile and the kind of happiness she didn't remember doing in present times. But this Android was perpetually living the past, with collected memories of her life.
"Ah, that's great! Yui wanted ours to go there, but I was too sick."
The first of pouts had formed, as the girl had walked over a few feet away from the bed, looking at the spot next to her. Unless she had spoken out for real, the machine wasn't going to process that she was even there, only continuing to talk as if a younger version of the blonde was actually there.
She didn't stop the normal routine, just yet, wanting to see and hear more. The place in question could have been anywhere, if it had involved her cousin, whose mention was unsurprising. Their families were and always had been close. It wasn't unusual at all to have the red-head around for a play date.
The idea of illness now, made her consider how fortunate it was that Vampires didn't have such issues, though she also thought back to how she likely would have gotten news of their friend, trying to visit her during that period of time anyway. Although only to be gently denied that it was a bad idea.
"Uh huh! I got some yummy soup that my mommy made, and my daddy said I could help make it next time."
The conversation had went on, and not once had the machine failed to crack a smile. Any frowning or pouting was quick to be wiped away, and from what she could remember herself, it really must have been their blonde friend that had encouraged that. But even now, while watching the Android reach out for imaginary snacks, she couldn't help but notice another thing. Not once, had the topic of going back to studying had happened, or even considered.
The girl had just completely ignored it all, going on to move away from the bed, and showing a few things she had around the room. For the purposes of this study, the room had really been shaped into possessing the things she had owned back then, and she could see from her position on the bed, the girl pull out sheets of paper with a list of songs. Some handwritten lines were also drawn here and there on the front or back, with likely more memorization.
That assumption was proven, as the machine started to carefully read some of the lyrics they had picked out. She knew the song being carefully read, which was popular around this time. The melody was also something as unforgettable as the relationships of her more personal life, which she also saw came forth, as she found the Android sitting on the bed, in the spot that was right next to her.
"You want to listen to it?"
Playing music was considered so typical in present times, and something to do in one's past time. Though it was never until now, as the machine had began to hum to the tune of the song, did she really see what something like this had really meant to someone so young. Being able to just be together like this, without any worries, was the kind of look she was seeing in the Android. There was just so much comfort there. A time she couldn't really recall.
There had been familiarity, even reading all of the notes she compiled together from family and friends, trusting its authenticity on how she was, and so far, none of it felt off. Each observation left with her a tinge of familiarity, as there was only so much she could recall from so long ago.
"Hey."
"Ah, future me?"
It was only when the humming had stopped, did she actually speak, causing the machine to flinch in surprise, and acknowledge her for the first time. Though the smile still remained, albeit a curious one, as the girl turned a little to look at her. This bed was so much larger than the one at her parent's house, but to the machine, it probably looked and felt the same as any other. She was programmed to ignore any inconsistencies after all.
Her own presence to the Android, was supposed to be nothing more than an odd dream. Even if the girl was told otherwise, she'd still believe it. Although too much pressure was supposed to forcibly shut the machine off into sleep. But that wasn't going to really ever happen. It wasn't ever meant to.
"You and Emi, should go spend some time with Future Yui, alright? Just don't forget to do your homework when you get back."
The Android's eyes had widened with realization, before it had smiled again and gave a nod. She could already tell from the moment she had spoken up, its internal database had opened up information of the people it had already been introduced to, which was where it would start to interact with others.
Different memories would still play out through topics as it talked to real people, rather than imaginary ones, making its routine and programming similar enough to the other two. But it wouldn't be the same for quite some time, as the Android's appearance would be modified as it 'aged' up, like a human.
There was so much she should have felt from watching the machine, but exhaustion took its place instead. Her body couldn't be tricked by her own willingness to create these artificial beings. It was only those like Amalga, who smelled like a Vampire, who could really make her feel actually normal again.
The presence of her cousin, she had felt getting closer, and with the machine's nod, she had gestured for the Android to go ahead. It held out its hand as if it was really holding onto a wrist, and it was only when the girl stopped to give a final wave, did there really became a difference in their appearance.
But she didn't need to be the same, just undying.
