Hey everyone! We were discussing making some changes to the available technique slots but we wanted everyone's opinion before we went ahead and changed anything.
The mentality behind this change is to take into consideration players who would like to be a little more support based instead of offence based. As it stands, this is the set up that we have:
(1st tree) 0-10k PL = 4 offensive tech slots, 2 support techs (Cannot be an M3, V2 or SU3) 11k - 50k PL = 8 offensive tech slots, 3 support techs 51k-100k = 12 offensive tech slots, 4 support techs 101k-150k = 15 offensive tech slots, 6 support techs 151k-200k = 18 offensive tech slots, 8 support techs 201k + = 20 offensive tech slots, 10 support techs
What we were thinking of doing, was allowing members to flip the amount of offensive and support techs that are available to them so it would look more like this:
(2nd tree) 0-10k PL = 2 offensive tech slots, 4 support techs (Cannot be an M3, V2 or SU3)
51k-100k = 4 offensive tech slots, 12 support techs
101k-150k = 6 offensive tech slots, 15 support techs
151k-200k = 8 offensive tech slots, 18 support techs
201k + = 10 offensive tech slots, 20 support techs
However, a member would have to chose one technique tree during their character creation and won't be able to pick and chose what kind of techniques they get when they reach a new tier. Meaning, if you start off with the first tree, you gain those specific technique slots as you rank up. If you chose the 2nd tree, you will always get more support techs as you rank up and cannot switch back to the first tree.
Now, we also thought of creating a more balanced scale instead of the second tree that would look like this:
Ex:0-10k PL = 3 offensive tech slots, 3 support techs (Cannot be an M3, V2 or SU3)
To be honest, I quite like that third balanced skill tree. That's the one I would probably go with because I can easily see Atsuko learning a lot of supports and offensives.
Techs are actually meant to cap off. Thats why each of those possible options hit at 30. Techs were added to the shop if people desire to get more. Its to make sure people don't have to many techs and need to think with what they are using.

I know. But I mean once someone breaks the 201k Pl mark. You can simply add a new cap in? I don't see a problem in it.
I think a few of the members of staff when it was decided chose a tier like that so you can't even at the max power have every form of su and ever form of attack. Its a limit so you purposely always have to think when using techs. Not just at a certain point have them all. If more were added they would probably me much lower numbers then the earlier tiers. Its possible more will be added for later tiers it just wouldn't be high numbers at all most likely. And perhaps as a example dropping back down to like 1 su and 1-2 offensive

I am not saying After one breaks the 201k To give that new milestone a shit ton of new Off and Supp. I am saying 1-3 on Off and 1-2 On Sup for each new tier after 201k Wouldn't be so bad. But we haven't gotten to that point. All I am saying is you shouldn't completely rule that possibility out of question.
No ones writing it off and getting defensive won't help your cause. Most of this has been or was discussed prior. We even brought this new form of techs possibility to be discussed and looked at. Perhaps try giving more of this system a try and see how it plays out and then consider looking how more change should be added once you have a better understanding of how it actually works now.
And if more get added it'd clearly go in a milestone of earning since well if you look that's how the original and these changed paths work. That would be because we already have shop items for normal chars to gain techs that go beyond the amount most cap at so if they REALLY want more. Its possible to get more.

Since the topic has turned slightly to more technique slots after 201k+... Here's my thoughts on the subject, they align with Jarvis in that if they happen, they're gonna be slow.... But also, I noticed something.
In the trees where you "lean more to one side", they cap off at 20. So here's my thought, after 201k+ and whatever the next 'cap' is. Both sides round off to 20 regardless of the tree you choose.
After that, you need to buy capsules and what have you if you still need more. 20 is a good number that lets you afford quite a few techniques and max them out, but you can't go absolutely crazy with it either. It would also be a nice reward for actually focusing on a character for that long, aside from the transformations.
If you need more after THAT, well you can buy five more slots in the shop. And that would set you at 25 each. By that point, I think there should be no more slots added. That's more than enough. xD
20 each could be a good cap off. Just strange ways of growth to get to them pending which tree you pick. I suppose it would also mean existing players if stuck to original paths before new ones are added would also be able to hit the same end game amount by default so this could be something worth looking into.

I like the idea of having the three options to choose from upon starting, as far as caps past 201k, Not concerned about it yet. All three trees are awesome. :3
