Appearance
Felaern has the appearance of a typical Konatsian Guardian, if more robust than normal, and appears something close to an ideal protector to the people of Konats. Possessing a particularly heavy frame for a Konatsian, Fel has broad shoulders and strong limbs covered in muscle. His facial features are equally impressive; with a chiseled chin, a straight aquiline nose, heavy brow, and average cheekbones Fel's face would make a great topic for statuary. All of this combined with Fel's smooth coppery skin and he would no doubt be popular with the ladies if it wasn't for his indifferent demeanor that never seems to let a smile or a laugh on his face. Always looking either stern or angry the only way Fel smiles is through his amber eyes.
As a Konatsian Guardian Felaern takes his appearance seriously, taking pains to keep his clothing and gear in immaculate condition, and Fel can most often be seen wearing high-class tunics and breeches to epitomize the Konatsian sense of style and decorum. He keeps his body clean and groomed, his lovely silver-blonde hair normally tied into an intricate braid and his beard and mustache well-trimmed. In keeping with the image of a perfect Guardian Felaern will also go to great lengths to hide any injuries he might sustain in combat from his fellow Konatsians, and even when apart from his people Fel will try and shrug off any damage they take, although they're less concerned about hiding wounds from their enemies.
Of course this is all mere illusion in the end. As a shape-shifting mage Felaern is more than capable of changing his appearance nearly at will, and his true form is actually a heavily scarred and pale looking Konatsian that is much less appealing than his normally assumed form; his skin is a sickly gray and seems to reflect the light as if covered in an oily sheen. The build remains mostly the same but there are dozens of scars dotted around his body; and many of them are as much from the experimentation he endured as much as from wounds taken from battle. However Felaern has great distaste for this form and will almost always hide it; only when their power is drained to critical levels and they can no longer maintain the illusion will they appear in this form.

Personality
If there is one thing that can be said about Felaern's personality above all others, it is this: Felaern is both loyal and dedicated to the Konatsian people. No creature can honestly say that Felaern has ever shirked their duty to their people or has never given his all for them. This sense of duty is beyond an obsession with Felaern; he sees it quite simply as his entire purpose in life. In his early life this translated to constant training with the Konatsian Sword Style and joining the Military, gaining discipline and honor among his people, becoming the pride of his family. However, now that Fel is older and more knowledgeable of the terrible forces that are capable of being unleashed this has changed, and he has taken up the mantle of a Konatsian Warrior-Mage, honing magical ability alongside his swordsmanship.
The terrible knowledge of what might befall Konats has left Felaern a taciturn and reserved individual, speaking little even in the midst of a battle, and often outright ignoring conversations that are not related to his current goal. Frivolity and delight are denied to him by his own choice, and even when others express such emotions around him Fel remains stoic and withdrawn. The only time when Fel can experience happiness and joy is when he walks the city streets and country paths of his homeworld Konats. His manner of speech is also somewhat disjointed and blunt, almost like an archaic Android with only a rudimentary personality matrix, a possible drawback to the experiments performed upon him. Luckily this only seems to affect his speech, as Fel's intelligence and perception remain top tier.
Despite the fact that knowledge has crushed Fel's happy lifestyle the Konatsian, like all Mages, has a deep thirst for more knowledge, and whenever given the opportunity would gladly take a tome of esoteric knowledge over payment in worldly wealth any day. In fact it should be said that Felaern would normally not even ask for payment because Felaern is still a good person despite his obsessions. To see someone innocent hurting or cruelty meted out will anger Fel, and if it doesn't clash with his duties Fel will lend a hand without expectation of reward or even thanks. Of course if given a choice between a Konatsian city burning or an entire planet elsewhere, Fel would let the planet burn to save his people.

Backstory
Felaern Blancmange is the result of a series of experiments carried out by a secretive cabal of Konatsian mages dedicated to ensuring that Konats survived. Through any means necessary. Before that however Felaern was a normal citizen in the Capital City of Konats, born to an artificer couple who supplied magic arms and armor to the Konatsian Guard. He was among six siblings, one older brother, the second his twin sister, and three younger siblings. His connection to the Konatsian Guard would become much stronger than even his family maintained, as even as a child he was fascinated in the entire concept of a Guardian. Wielding Holy Blades, defeating Evil-Doers, Protecting the People. It was pure romance for the young Konatsian, but one deeply rooted in Felaern's heart, and as he grew to adulthood he trained and studied diligently, becoming a Konatsian Guard the day he was considered an adult, much to the joy and pride of his family and friends.
There were many adventures to be had and crimes to prevent as a Konatsian Guard, and through dedication and hard work Fel rose in rank and power, becoming the pride of his family and even the entire city, but unfortunately at this point in his existence Felaern doesn't remember any of that. What he does remember is that when he reached the age of one-hundred sixty-four he was approached by a group of strange mages he had never seen or heard of before, who asked for him to join them in defending Konats at all costs. While initially saying no, for the mages seemed complately untrustworthy, the cabal was persistent in its request. Over the course of the following year they continuously came back to speak with him again and again, their request always the same “Help us Protect Konats”.
During this time they showed him the old history of the universe. Of the terrible Demon Army as it ravaged across all known creation; trying to destroy everything in their path. Of a struggle that even the gods couldn't overcome easily; leaving many of the universe's protectors dead and gone. They showed the ravaged lands of Konats during that period, and the great suffering that the people had gone through during that era; when there was no Guardian capable of standing up to the hordes of enemies they faced. Finally, they showed Felaern portents of a terrible future; of coming darkness no less as terrible as the great war was before. They showed a future of the Konatsian people scattered and broken; their planet crushed to space dust, their honor, pride, and culture stamped underfoot of their conquerors.
Finally Felaern couldn't ignore the apparent danger to Konats, and agreed to help them in their endeavor. To participate in their goal to create a special type of soldier capable of fighting on par with the most terrible of enemies. Of course Felaern had no idea of the horrible nature of these experiments, or the fact that he was going to be their prime subject. Yet even as Fel was subject to the first of many terrible experiments and magical rituals they merely grit their teeth and nodded for the Cabal to continue. It was for Konats, and Fel would endure for the people he had vowed to protect. Thus for nigh on forty years Felaern was confined to a dusty lab cell, his mind and body molded and shaped by eldritch magics that even the Kashvar would balk at. The final result was however exactly what the Cabal had hoped for; a Guardian with the potential to gain vast amounts of power beyond anything the Konatsian people had ever seen, and one that even the majority of their memories were stripped away or perhaps buried by the experiments, his psyche concentrated and magically bolstered. All the better to provide focus on the goal they were created for.
When finally Felaern was allowed to exit the experiment chamber and walk under Konats' sun once more, he was much changed, and even his own family would not recognize him (and sadly, neither would Fel be able to recall his family). There was only the goal of protecting the Konatsian people in his mind, and to that end Fel would begin to amass their power, for the rituals he had undergone had indeed given him great potential, but it had left his actual power a fragment of what it had once been. A setback, but one that would be rectified, surely...
