Given the information granted to Mar from his meeting with the North Kaioshin, he figured that it would probably be in his quadrant of the universe's best interests to get as prepared as they could possibly get. Sadly though he couldn't interfere with the affairs of the Living World personally, not without a very good reason. He didn't feel like sitting on the receiving end of another one of North Kaioshin's century long rants about responsibility blah blah blah. However, that didn't mean he couldn't make... suggestions to others who could act in his stead in the Living World.
"I hate meeting with her..." the Eastern Kaioshin muttered as he made the trip from the Sacred Planet of the Kais directly to East Kai's planet. Whilst yes he could perform this task without having to physically meet with the woman via his universal telepathy, he wanted to judge for himself the caliber of those whom she'd taken on as students in the Otherworld.
The woman had an unfortunate habit of either over-estimating her students, or under-estimating their capabilities in favour of what she deemed best. Which for her, was always about one singular thing. Speed. Whilst King Kai in the North focused on drawing out a students abilities, the South Kai worked on making them stalwart walls, and West Kai was all about the power, East Kai always tried to make her fighters as fast as she could.
He had yet to figure out the reason for that. But, that was the purpose for his visit now to her world. As soon as he arrived in the hall of her home, East Kai's attendant immediately began to ring a massive gong that reverberated across the entire planet. "Well, at least she'll know I'm here now." mused Mar as he stood there, counting off the seconds before he heard East Kai's insufferable motorcycle engine whining nearby, and sure enough the Kai in question catapulted into the room.
"Supreme Kai!" she exclaimed, immediately bowing her head towards him. "What an unexpected pleasure to have you visit my humble home." Mar glanced around the hall he'd arrived in, raising an eyebrow at the opulant decor of the place. "Humble. Yes..." he muttered under his breath.
"Umm..." began the plump East Kai before Mar gave a slight cough. "Right, I expect you're wondering as to why I've decided to pay a visit. I presume you've been keeping abreast with what's been going on in the North Galaxy?" he inquired, noting the slight wilt in the Kai's antenna at his question. "Guess not. Long story short, one of the Saiyans up there figured out how to turn into the same kind of monster that decimated the Southern Galaxy a few centuries back." he began, holding up a hand before East Kai could go into a panic attack.
"He's dead, slain by another Saiyan or something like that. However, that now means that Hell is holding two of those things down there, and given how often the last one kept popping back up, and how much security Hell has..." said Mar, leaving the train of thought for East Kai to pick up. Thankfully she was quick on the uptake. "What do you have in mind Supreme Kai?" she asked, a note of fear in her voice.
"It's simple really. I'm going to be inspecting your students, and if any of them meet my muster, I'll take them to my personal world to undergo further training with me ." he said, taking a bit of satisfaction from seeing East Kai's jaw drop open at the news, knowing that it was already going to spread out to her students judging from the gasps and whispers of the staff at the moment.
"This is in order to prepare them for their return to the Living World so they can then pass on those lessons I give them, to their counterparts. I will not have the East Galaxy be unprepared for any threat that may come our way from the North Galaxy." the Eastern Kaioshin explained to his subordinate. He stood there in silence for a moment before gently coughing. "If you would East Kai?" said Mar, a smirk across his face as she jumped on the spot and immediately started to run as fast as she could around the place, yelling out for her students to assemble in the courtyard.
Mar couldn't help but chuckle at her antics, even if they were imposed on her by his words. The Kais were for the most part quite snooty, and so it was always enjoyable to watch them get their proverbial knickers in a twist over something non-threatening. He shook his head as he began to calmly make his way towards the courtyard, whistling away as he walked. As he got closer, he could make out the shrill tones of his underling Kai, giving her own... explanation for the situation at hand, including her own version of events concerning her Northern counterpart.
"I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth East Kai." he declared, immediately silencing her as she realised that he was standing right behind her. She turned around and gave a nervous titter before stepping aside. "I am in no way inferring a lack of capability on King Kai's part, nor my own counterpart the Northern Kaioshin. Let me make that abundantly clear. I am merely preparing the Eastern Galaxy should the need arise given how... prolific an issue Saiyans can get."
The courtyard was silent, as if they were waiting for him to say more. Each and every one of them was staring at him, and if the Eastern Kaioshin was honest, it was kinda creepy and somewhat uncomfortable having them all stare at him like that. Then again, he supposed that came with the territory of being a Supreme Kai, a level of Kai above even that of Grand Kai, which until just now was the highest level of power these people had ever come to know about. Oh if only they knew that there was a power above even his own... he chuckled slightly at the mental image of how they would probably react to the knowledge, let alone the mere sight of the Grand Supreme Kai... but that was a thought for another time.
Mar gave a slight cough before he properly addressed East Kai's students. "Now then, I'll make this simple. You are going to participate in a miniature tournament amongst yourselves. The winner of that tournament will, if I deem them worthy enough, be taken back with me to my world to undergo special training so that they may then act as my agent in the Living World. Are we clear? Victory in this tournament does not guarantee you this privilege, however it will go some length to increasing your chances." the Eastern Kaioshin declared, eyeing each and every single one of the students before nodding towards them. "Let's get started then."
It didn't take East Kai long to make a tournament ground for the students to begin their combat on. They drew straws to decide who would face off against whom, meanwhile Mar was looking them over. There was the aquatic alien Arqua, the cloning midget Charpuchai, and that one fellow who looked like one of those Brenchians, or a Crocolisk, he couldn't quite tell which in this humanoid form of theirs, as well as several other fighters. So far... he wasn't that impressed. It seemed that East Kai didn't have the same caliber of students as could be found in the Western Galaxy or Northern Galaxy. Sort of made Mar wonder if that was due in part to those two galaxies producing more warriors, or was it just East Kai's predication towards speed that stopped her from getting anyone decent to train.
As the tournament progressed, it seemed that it was indeed the predication towards speed, combined with the fighters utilising techniques that sought to put their opponents at some sort of disadvantage which to the East Kaioshin seemed a bit underhanded and not the sort of fighter he was hoping to share his techniques with. However, there was one fighter that seemed to be doing well, without resorting to manipulating the area or their opponent to achieve an advantage. He gave East Kai a gentle nudge. "Who's that one?" he inquired, a snort from his subordinate drawing a raised eyebrow from him.
"That is Obsidia... an Elemi warrior who refuses to accept my wise teachings to use her abilities to take control of the battlefield." scoffed East Kai, Mar rubbing his chin as he watched the dark skinned warrior woman until eventually it came between her and the aquatic warrior Arqua in the final round of the tournament. As expected Arqua turned the arena into his very own water world playground to try and put Obsidia under pressure, and Mar watched with interest to see how she would retaliate.
He did not have to wait long as she unleashed a massive explosive force from within her body, generating a tremendous amount of heat that almost instantly burned away the water surrounding her until she was standing in the center of the arena, with Arqua flopping on the floor in pain from being boiled like a fish in a chip shop. Mar stood up and nodded at the girl who nodded back and strode towards him. "I've made my decision. You triumphed against foes who put you into situations where they held the advantage, and utilised your natural abilities to achieve victory albeit not in the way that East Kai wanted. Your talents will be most useful in the Living World with the threats that are to come from the burgeoning Cerulean Empire amongst others."
With that said, he immediately transported himself and Obsidia back to his own personal world which was a small island floating nearby the Sacred World of the Kais with a rather primitive looking hut placed on its peak. "Sorry if you were expecting some grand palace or something of the like. Do you need a moments rest, or shall we begin?" he inquired of the girl. She shook her head and then took up a ready stance. Mar chuckled and took up a stance of his own. "Then let's get started shall we? We've got a lot of work to do."
