The Albino Saiyan let out a small sigh. "That's a terrible plan. You'll pass out before you could find anything.", she said in response to Cambia's logic about finding... Wherever it was she was going. She was speaking from experience that trying to just force yourself through it wasn't going to end well, now whether or not the hybrid listened to her was another matter entirely... But at least they were having a proper conversation now. Her doppelganger went on to say that she didn't necessarily go looking for crime, just that it so happened to find her. The Saiyan was skeptical, to say the least.
"Judging by the way you dress, and how you jumped straight to attacking me... You'll have to forgive me if I think otherwise on you looking for trouble.", she commented in a truthful, yet surprisingly non-hostile manner. "I'm one of those religious types too. Raised within an Order dedicated to preventing the 'Age of Demons' from returning. As I've begun to learn, however... Not all Demons are like they say in history. I've made friends with someone that is half demon.", the Knight finished her explanation. Though it seemed that Cambia was pretty set on continuing further away from home.
Well, if she even had a home anymore. The hybrid viewed herself as a freak, and the first thing Atsuko had done was shake her head in response. "You're not a freak. You're a living person, same as anyone else... And that's why you shouldn't keep up such a tough act. Relax a little, if anyone tries something. I'll take care of them.", the Knight stated. Following that, Cambia proceeded to lower her Ki until it was at a barely readable state. Well, she had a fair point. If she really wanted to leave that badly...
There wasn't much that Atsuko could do in order to keep her here. Instead, she chose to smile about the fact that she hadn't decided to run off. "In that case, I'll be glad that you're making the decision to stay here with me. Even for a little while.", she said, and then arched a brow at Cambia's next comment about stashing food inside of her weighted cape. "Well... No, I don't keep food there. I keep it in here.", she then retrieved a travel pack that was tied to her belt. It wasn't among the largest, but a fair bit could be put inside.
"I won't claim to hold a restaurant's worth, but I can cook up something decent. Let me get a campfire started and then we can figure out what you'd prefer.", she added, then turning her attention to preparing a campfire. A few rocks placed into a circle, some sticks and twigs, other variations of lumber. Some leaves as well, all put together to make a fair campfire. She then pointed her finger at the campfire, and a small spark of Ki escaped her tip, then igniting the campfire rather easily, neither of them had to wait very long, at least.
Atsuko then set the pack down and opened it up, there was some store-bought items. Probably from the last trip she had made to a nearby town, and then some items that were clearly from a fresh hunt. There was little to doubt in the fact that the Albino Saiyan was a seasoned adventurer. Cambia could probably learn a few things from her, and the Saiyan was more than happy to teach her if she were to ask. But for now, one thing at a time. The Knight was going to see her relieved from hunger.
Cambia raised an eyebrow at the armoured doppelganger. "The way I dress?" she asked in partial disbelief that she was getting a lecture here. She waved a hand at her mirror. "You seen yourself? You're wandering around in this wasteland in full on metal armour and robes, with a full flowing furry heavy cape and a sword at your side. And I'm the one dressed for picking a fight?" asked the hybrid, laughing incredulously at the situation developing between them.
When she said she was one of the religious types, her whole body tensed up, preparing to fight or flight depending on how the woman proceeded. When she proceeded to only just talk, she slowly relaxed, but kept herself ready just in case Atsuko tried to pull something. Cambia couldn't help but scoff at the thought of relaxing and letting someone else handle her problems. "Thought I just said I ain't dragging anyone into my hell." replied Cambia, folding her arms across her chest and looking away from her mirror. The thought that someone else wanted to take care of her battles... it did not sit well with her.
Cambia let the knight make the fire, idly wondering why it was taking so long to just make such a simple thing... then reminded herself that this woman probably cared about the safety of others around herself hence the stones around it. Then the smell of food reached her nose. Her stomach grumbled as the smell reached it, and she growled at her stomach more than anything else... She shuffled in her spot for a moment before looking at Atsuko, eyeing her up and down as if trying to figure something out.
She grumbled a little before speaking. "I don't do charity." said the hybrid before holding up a hand to forestall the girl from speaking. "You're offering food, least I can do is pay you back... not sure about the chest given your shiny corset there," Cambia said, pointing at her armour, "but you look about the same size as me... so... here." she said, a burst of fire erupting from her hands as a folded up set of clothes appeared. They consisted of a white blouse shirt, long blue skirt, black leggings and a pair of brown ankle boots. "Figured you knightly types don't get casual stuff regularly... and you seem to like the colour blue..." she said before placing the created attire next to her doppelganger and retreating back to her spot. "And I ain't taking no for an answer. This is to pay for the food alright?" she said defensively.
The Albino Saiyan laughed a little as she shrugged. Cambia had a fair point, the Knight stuck out like a sore thumb in anywhere that wasn't a religious temple. "Well, point. But you are aware that the robes help me keep cool even in the desert, right? Besides that... It's not so much picking a fight, it's that by... Showing off so much, you end up attracting the attention of unsavory types. Those types tend to avoid people that look like me.", she responded. Honestly, the conversation with Cambia was proving to be rather enjoyable. The Knight had decided that she was going to be a good friend.
Likely the hybrid wasn't going to return such feelings, at least at first. But that was alright, Atsuko was a patient individual. She already won over one exceedingly stubborn fool. Cambia seemed more willing to have a chat with her than Athren was. "Look. I get it, you made it this far just by relying on yourself and pushing anyone away that got too close. But now you aren't facing off against the entire world by your lonesome. No one should have to shoulder that sort of burden alone.", Atsuko began her response.
"Besides, as you saw earlier... I can handle myself. So let me take some of that weight off of your shoulders. I'm already feeding you, so you don't have much reason to keep saying no. I'll also still remind you that you did try to blow me up, earlier.", she said, shooting a glance at Cambia. Though she was only smirking lightly, despite it all... She just couldn't bring herself to be mad at the girl. The hybrid wasn't that bad, they just had it rough. Anyone would act like that in the same conditions. Hopefully she could show it didn't have to stay that way.
After that, Cambia conjured up a set of clothes by another eruption of flames. The Saiyan blinked in response, but they did seem to be a nice style, one that she wouldn't mind wearing in more peaceful occasions. "Well, if you insist. I'll gladly accept your gift.", the Albino Saiyan responded with a smile on her face. She turned her attention away from the food for a moment in order to accept the clothes, after situating them into the travel pack, Atsuko returned to preparing the food. It wasn't going to be much longer now.
It was a stew, one of the Albino Saiyan's favorite meals during a long trip due the simplicity in it's preparation. You really just needed some water, meat and vegetables. There were other things that could be made, of course. But the Saiyan wasn't the pickiest of eaters, besides... She had found out just the right way to prepare it. "Well, it won't be much longer now. I have some spare water that you can take with, too. With the way you like to hide your energy, you're going to need it. Taking flight would cause you to have to use more energy. Makes you easy to spot."
The Saiyan commented as she then retrieved a couple of wooden bowls and spoons. Again, nothing fancy. But they seem to be well cared for and perfectly acceptable for eating on the road. It was only a little bit longer to wait, and then she began to pour some of the stew carefully into each bowl. She set the second bowl down carefully so that Cambia could pick it up and situate herself how she liked. The Albino Saiyan wasn't going to insist that she sit next to her or anything like that.
"I hope you like it.", she stated calmly. The Knight waited patiently for her guest to begin eating before she did the same. There wasn't exactly a need for table manners in a place like this, but... It was how she was raised and preferred to act. So the Knight would continue to do so.
"Eh, I tried a style that was more "socially acceptable" before." said the hybrid with a shrug. "Felt way too... confining." Cambia said, trying to find the right words. "It's like, I get all itchy, and they always feel too tight, even if its a flowing robe like what you've got on." she said, gesturing to what the knight was wearing before shrugging. "So I just stick to what I got. Besides, I don't even feel the heat." explained Cambia with a shrug.
When Atsuko mentioned the blowing her up attempt, she rolled her eyes and sighed. "Didn't help you were being so bloody calm about it all either. In hindsight I get why but at the time?" she said before tapping her head. "I ain't learned that sensing trick yet." Cambia said, pouting a little at the word gift. "Ain't a gift, it's fair exchange..." she muttered under her breath, folding her arms across her chest once more and looking aside.
The stew was coming along slowly but surely, with Cambia sorely tempted to just try and help speed things along. She could make the fire hotter and stronger... but felt that would probably be in poor taste since the knight was doing the cooking and not her. When the offer of water came along, she shook her head before reaching into her jacket pocket and pulled out a small flask. "Got liquids sorted." said the hybrid, opening up the lid, a really strong smell of alcohol coming from it before she took a mouthful of it. Cambia licked her lips to catch all the moisture off them before closing the lid up and pocketing the flask once more.
"Yeah, its why I don't fly much, or when I do I stick low to the ground." agreed the hybrid with the pure blood as she waited for the stew to get dished out. She accepted the bowl and waited for Atsuko to begin eating herself. After a few moments it became clear that the knight was expecting her to be the one to try to eat first. Part of her was suspicious and hesitant... another part was just too damned hungry to care and she ignored the spoon, instead just going straight for putting the bowl to her mouth and tipping it all in. Cambia made short work of the stew in her bowl, and let out a satisfied sigh.
"I'll admit... that was some good stuff, for a monk recipe." said the demon hybrid before something caught her eye in the approaching distance. She snarled and stood up, drawing her sword as a dustcloud was racing towards the pair. "Thought they learned their lesson last time. Bloody human idiots." she growled before she strode towards them, her sword hanging in her hand. A group of large bikers came into view, the gang starting to circle around Cambia as she stood there. There were at least ten of them, all of them carrying some kind of firearms as well as the usual assortment of chains and tire irons.
"Didn't you pigs learn from the last time we met eh? Go home or go join your boss in hell." ordered Cambia as the bikes stopped circling and she was surrounded by a ring of metal and flesh. "Chu wander into our bar, take our space, disrespect our gang, and killed our boss when he tried to collect what was his due. Chu think we'd let chu get away with that girly?" called out the apparent leader of the group. "Nuh unh! Chu is gonna pay with yer hide." he said, his passenger whispering into his ear and pointing towards Atsuko. "Two of 'em eh? How about this then Red," he said, leaning on the steering wheel of his bike, "we'll cut the debt chu owe in half, if your twin there helps pay it off."
Cambia looked back at Atsuko for a moment, her sword point lowering as she considered the offer before she chuckled and then looked at the leader of the gang. "Sorry, her hide ain't involved in our business. No deal. Besides," she said, looking around at the forces arrayed around her, "it's been a while since I took on so much meat at once. I'll enjoy carving you all up." smirked the hybrid, fire wrapping around her as she went back into her combat attire, and her flesh once more transformed into that of her demonic self. "So then... who wants to die first?" she crowed, spinning her sword in her hand, the wind whistling around it like a chilling revenant's shrieks.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
The Albino Saiyan could only shrug once more in response. If Cambia was more comfortable wearing that style of clothing, it's not like she could just force the hybrid into something more 'appropriate'. Frankly it was nice to just have someone to talk with all the same. And if the heat didn't bother her, there was little reason to press on the issue. "Well, most people see someone acting calm and they decide against pressing into a fight. I guess that wasn't quite the case this time around.", she added. Then Cambia pointed out that she didn't know how to sense.
"Well, I could teach you, if you like! It might save your life.", she responded, a smile on her face in the process... Though, Cambia's next word and action caused it to fade. The smell of alcohol came off excessively strong. The Saiyan gave a sigh, shaking her head slightly. "Alcohol would make it worse. It dehydrates you, you'll pass out within the hour if you don't have something proper to drink. Anything would be better, doesn't necessarily have to be water.", the Albino Saiyan explained. Cambia probably knew all of this but all the same, the Knight was going to make her face facts.
The hybrid took up her bowl and, rather than just using the spoon just downed it all like it was a drink. The Saiyan let out a small chuckle, not exactly expecting that. "Well, help yourself to as much as you like.", she stated as she then began to eat at a calm pace. The hybrid was proving to be rather good company... Though, it seemed it wasn't going to be a peaceful day. A dustcloud was heading towards the campsite, which prompted Cambia to snarl and ready her sword. The Albino Saiyan calmly set her bowl down...
It was a gang, at least ten in number. None of them very strong at all, they just looked threatening for anyone that wasn't a decent fighter. Cambia... Didn't have the best of reactions, jumping straight to using her full power. Oh, it was very likely that she was going to end up killing all of them. The Albino Saiyan didn't doubt that for a moment, but that was exactly the problem. "Excuse me...", the Knight then spoke. Vanishing from the spot and then appearing once more in front of the gang that had gathered. "You should leave."
To say 'they didn't like that' was an understatement. Each of them began to surround the Knight, who didn't even bother to draw her sword. "Yeah? Suppose a little girlie like chu is gonna make us?", the leader spat out in response. "Get this fool already!", he commanded. The group charged all at once... The wind seemed to shift, and then each of them were disarmed of their weapons, and were reeling on the ground with broken noses. The Knight didn't even seem to MOVE. But she had. She unleashed a flurry of attacks that rendered them non-threatening.
She dropped each of the weapons at her feet. "Now, leave.", she declared. The gang was sufficiently frightened and proceeded to flee the scene as fast as they could manage. With another sigh, the Albino Saiyan turned to Cambia. "Cambia... You need to be careful, the more you indulge in that side... The harder it will be to resist it. You'll lose your sense of self. Try to avoid feeding it in the future... Senseless killing, the tendencies towards crime... I'm not saying you need to become a saint. Just... Be careful, alright?", she explained and then made her request of Cambia.
She didn't want to see the hybrid lose herself because she indulged the feral beast within one too many times. Great powers always came at a cost...

Just as Cambia was about to start fighting, her doppelganger suddenly appeared in front of their boss, and then... then... She couldn't even follow what had just happened. They were all disarmed and had their noses broken... and now she was letting them run away?! The hybrid snarled and was just about to go after them to cut them down but Atsuko started talking to her. "I had that under control! They were going to be barbecue!" she declared, using her sword to point at the fleeing gang members.
"Which side would that be eh?" she asked of the Saiyan knight. "My demon half, or my Saiyan half? It's a little hard to tell when a fight's starting up." retorted Cambia, her tail flicking in agitation at the fight that was denied to her. Her grip on her blades hilt tightened, her demonic eyes glaring at her counterpart, her teeth set in a snarl before she lowered her hackles and returned to looking like a normal-ish Saiyan, her demonic features disappearing. She remained in her battle attire though as she slumped back down against the rock.
"Could have at least let me kill one of them... could've used the bike to save energy." Cambia said as she took her bowl and scooped out some more of the food, proceeding to eat the solid parts first by plucking them out with her fingers from her bowl. She sat there for a moment before a thought came to her. "Well, we both know why I'm out here wandering around... what's your excuse? Can't imagine there's much call for knights in this day and age." asked the hybrid of her mirror.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
Cambia was about to pursue the gang, but quickly gave up on that thought. Instead using her sword to point at them and state that she had it under control. "You could have slaughtered the lot of them, I know that. That's why I stopped you. Do you think you can just use those powers and be free of any consequence? You had that fight under control. But that wasn't why I intervened.", Atsuko responded. Though after that, Cambia asked which side that the Knight referred to. And she began to gather her energy once more... Though just as quickly as she started that, she stopped.
The Albino Saiyan calmly returned to the campsite, giving out another sigh. "Both... Your Saiyan side loves the thrill of a good battle, I know that because I feel it too. And I have to resist that temptation even when I just train by myself.... But I've seen firsthand what those negative emotions can do to someone with demonic blood coursing through their veins. My friend almost lost himself to it.", the Knight explained. Trying to pick the right words was difficult, but... It had to be done. "The more you feed it, the stronger it becomes."
She added. But she wasn't quite finished with that point. "Note that I say 'it'. You don't get stronger, you get weaker. It feeds off of you, and then it takes control. The beast inside is scared, it's very powerful. And it lashes out at everything.", she then made a small gesture to Cambia. "And it's you that has to deal with the consequences. If you're lucky enough to come back from it.", she finished. Atsuko felt like her point had been made. The hybrid resumed eating and then finally asked a question. Mostly concerning why the Knight was wandering the world.
Well, that was a fair question. Atsuko pondered for a moment, but then decided to share her story. "Well, as I said. I'm Atsuko Inoue, Sworn Holy Knight of the Order. On my eighteenth year, they held a ceremony and granted me this sword.", she tapped the hilt of the silver sword she carried at her side. "It's a precious relic... And the title 'Holy Knight' hasn't been used in several ages. They granted it to me because I'm a little exceptional... I spent my entire life within their Temple. So I didn't have the same experience like anyone else."
Atsuko continued her explanation. "Eighteen years spent studying, training, and meditation.. All in preparation for a war. Anyway, they gave me that title after the ceremony. And then said I had to go on a pilgrimage. So that's why I'm out here. I'm learning about the world, testing myself as a Holy Knight... And... I guess there's no other reason, really.", she finished a little sheepishly. The Albino Saiyan thought it wasn't a particularly interesting story, but she did hope that it answered Cambia's question well enough. It was sort of nice to have someone interested in her.
Usually she was just taking in everyone's story, and then helping them with their plights. It was a change of pace, just like it was with Bernael.
"You're wrong." said Cambia when Atsuko was giving her description about the power that lurked inside of her. "It's not a beast. Least, for me it's not. Don't know about your friend, or if this is just what they taught you in that church of yours," the hybrid said, "but its not a beast. It's a fire." she said as she looked into the fire burning between them. "Whenever I got scared... there it was... comforting me. It's been the only source of comfort I've known as far back as I can remember." Cambia said softly, a hand clutching at her chest.
She listened to her doppelgangers story, finding herself smirking by the end of it. "So, you're just as lost and wandering around out here as I am then eh? Only with a fancy title attached to you." the hybrid chuckled, taking a swig of the soup. She regarded the relic that Atsoku was carrying then at her own sword. "No ceremony for mine. I heard a rumour about a sword kept all chained up in some monastery just cus it was supposedly used by a demon or dark knight some time in the distant past or something." said Cambia, pulling it to her lap, the firelight dancing across its surface.
"So, I went there, monks tried to stop me from taking it, and well... didn't end well for them." she said with a shrug. "Never dulls, never needs sharpened, never rusts." Cambia said as she ran a finger down its flat side, tracing down the markings engraved into the blade. "Funny thing is... if the monks hadn't been so adamant about me not "releasing" this sword into the world, or so vehemently towards me... I might not have taken it. Nothing worth having comes without some effort." she admitted with a chuckle.
"Want to know something even more hilarious?" she asked her doppelganger, although she was betting she wouldn't have found the first part funny. "This sword, doesn't have any demonic ki to it. At all. It's just a sword enchanted to never rust, and never dull. That's it. They spent who knows how long with this sword literally bound in chains and sealed in a vault, just because of who used it last." Cambia chuckled, her free hand rubbing her forehead and partially hiding her face.
She sat there chuckling, or what looked like chuckling for a while. "It's so stupid... they were so afraid of something they had no real reason to be afraid of... there was no reason to lock it away... to treat it like that. Just because of who it was connected to in some stupid story?" said Cambia softly, her body still shaking. "Why? Why is it that this world, that these stupid humans... are so bloody blind to reality eh? Why do they always assume the worst because of what something's connected to?" she asked of nobody, maybe of Atsuko, maybe of herself, maybe of this distant Kami.
"Why don't they ever give something a damned chance... why? Why, why, why, why?!" she wound up roaring, the fire between them briefly flaring for a moment as the demon-saiyan hybrids temper rushed through her energy. In the increased moment of light, Cambia's face seemed to glisten in some places.
This world curses me because of my blood, then I shall curse and plague it in turn!
The Albino Saiyan looked down at the ground as Cambia described what she felt inside of her. A pleasant fire... Maybe there was truth to it. But all the same... "You know how dangerous fire can be, then. Careful that it doesn't burn you away. Alright?", she stated. And then... Well, that was that. Their conversation turned away from it and to the fact that the Knight was just as lost. The Saiyan shrugged. There was truth to that, a whole world that she almost didn't seem to have a place in... So, she was just making one for herself.
They weren't really all that different once you examined the details. Their topic took a darker turn, however. Cambia went into the details of how she got her sword. The Albino Saiyan imagined what must have happened, and she grimaced. All of that violence... What did it even prove? That was a question poised to all sides... Well, the hybrid wasn't entirely at fault. The world's inhabitants proved to be harsh on her. Without missing a beat, the hybrid then pointed out something even more 'hilarious'. The sword didn't have any Demonic Ki attached to it. The Saiyan could attest to that.
She would have felt it right away if that was the case. No, the source of Demonic Ki came from Cambia herself... Slowly, the Albino Saiyan came to realize that she wasn't laughing, but rather crying. Atsuko wasted little time, she approached the hybrid and just... Gave her a hug. Or tried to, anyway. Flames and aura be damned, she needed it. "It's alright... It will get better, Cambia. I'll see to it personally.", she stated in attempts to comfort the distressed half demon. Just like that, Atsuko was filled with determination once more. She was going to find a home for Cambia.
One where she would be safe. She wouldn't have to fight anymore, unless she chose to. And could truly make a choice, not just default to it out of instinct or necessity. "Listen... I already know what you said. I know how you feel about me, and it's fine... But I consider you a member of my family. You're my sister, and I'm going to help you.", the Albino Saiyan added. Though she wasn't quite finished. "It's alright if you want to hate me for it... But I can't just ignore someone that's in need."
The Saiyan finished giving her reasoning. There was nothing that was going to deter her from helping the hybrid now, if she had to, she'd fight the entire world and make them see reason. But she had seen enough of Earth and it's people... She wouldn't need to do that. She just needs to guide Cambia onto the right path, everything else would fall into place. It wasn't going to be easy, and... That didn't bother her. Saiyans love a challenge, after all. So Atsuko decided to embrace her Saiyan nature exactly so she could rise to such an occasion.
