The Hyperbolic Time Chamber... it felt like not too long ago that he was in the same place but for all too different reasons. The first time he entered, it was to stop a small scale assault that could destroy the lookout and nothing more. Now, he was entering with the desire to save their universe from destruction. The stakes were raised dramatically and the Demon wasn't too sure if he was ready for such a big weight on his shoulders. But it wasn't about being ready or not, it was about being determined to do what he could to save the universe he had come to love. Even if it was filled with sadness and strife, he wasn't ready to lose everything he fought to protect.
He'd clench his fists as he walked into the blinding white room, staring out over the endless void. He knew the risks of entering such a room, he would get lost forever if he wandered too far out. But Bernael knew those risks well enough not to fall victim to them. The demon wouldn't be in there alone either, and out of all of the people that he could be training with on that day, he was happy that it was someone he felt he could trust for the most part. One of the older knights that were apart of the old group of earth protectors he used to be apart of, although the group was defunct he knew he could at least feel at home with Chris for a year compared to some of the other more risky people he could group up with.
There wasn't much to do in the empty white room but train, and the Demon knew that if they were to get anything out of this trip to the HBTC, they would have to train like hell for the full year. The demon would walk dead set towards the open area right in front of the resting area of the time chamber. The gravity was nothing compared to what he went through in his own gravity chamber, it was a minor change if anything. With his mind cleared and ready to train, the Demon would look back towards Chris. "I've gotten quite rusty since I've last been in here. Hopefully, a year of training will change that. Do you want to get started now, Chris?" he would speak firmly as he looked back towards the door of the HBTC. He could only hope that his training partner was as ready for this as he was. He couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief as he breathed within the strained air that was the intense gravity inside this room. The never expanding expense of white, the void that raised before them. All of this was something that he had been to once before, all of it was something that he had experienced first-hand. The last time he was here, he came so close to breaking new limits, something that still had him pushing to his very end. This? This expanse of void? It was something that even he never truly wanted to see again. The reason for having to see it only meant the universe was in danger again.
This time was to be different however, this time he was to be leaving for good. This was his last time to come to the chamber of time and space. This was also part of his last few moments on earth. He had to win though, the deal had been simple after all, he would fight for the universe that was still doomed even if they won. In return he would have himself and his family moved to another universe. He was tired of how this universe was anyway, so in honesty he had little left to lose besides his family. The very family that would now be safe.
There was inside of Chris a small form of doubt, of regret for what he was to do. However, in honesty he couldn’t dare raise a child in this universe. He wanted his own kid to have the life he never got, a life in a more peaceful universe, not one to have nearly three wars in less than a decade. Chris could already hear the name calling now, coward, traitor. Call it as they wished, he would still fight for this universe one last time. He had his own family to protect, even as much as he would miss king kai and Galen, he couldn’t place his friendships over the safety of his family. Nasu had made him see that at least with his spirit ball.
He had mercilessly attacked his friends, threatened to hurt everyone there. There wasn’t any reason for him to forgive him for that. All those lives lost because of that damned tree were all on his cousin. This tournament was the only thing honestly preventing him from just trying to rip said cousin to shreds. As much as he loved his family, as much as he did care for them, there was a limit to how far he would allow himself to be pushed around and Nasu had ungracefully pushed such buttons. Even if it had been his own conscience to hold back, that wasn’t meaning he had been thankful his cousin had been dead. If anything, he had deserved to stay dead. It was becoming disgusting how easily the afterlife was being broken out of. It was a pace of which he could already foresee was not a good forthcoming.
Thankfully inside this chamber it wasn’t to be with Nasu or even Komatsu. Simply placed he didn’t exactly forgive his cousin just yet for trying to shoot him with his guard down. He hadn’t even been attacking, he had been healing the injured. A low blow even for him. It was coming full circle now that he realized it though, Tomo was a nice person overall, but her children, his cousins, they had each caused their own harm towards the galaxy in all varying ways, the tree, the pride, and the mark of demons. It was their harms towards the galaxy and now it was to be their downfalls. This end they were to receive if they were to lose? He couldn’t say in the slightest that it wasn’t deserved.
Bernael however, an old friend part of an old group. A group that maybe no longer existed now, but the memory of which served to leave the two alive today. The two had met few times only, in a way that was good as well. Bern was also the only knight left remaining besides himself. That battle against Jarvis having only been their first real meeting. Out of everyone else in the group however, he would’ve been glad if it had been either Bernael or Cervez. Just having Bernael here however made it all the more worthwhile. Having someone he could get along with for a year would easily become the best training he's had for a while. All his other training sessions had quite frankly involved people he hadn’t truly liked the most.
“Heh, don’t worry, any rust you have we will be sure to sharpen up throughout the year we’re here. However, if that’s really the case, the best option for us would be to train our base strength up. Sure, we could just train in our strongest transformations, but, frankly we will be able to know our limits better if we can know just how far we can push them. This tournament if its like most will be upmost on us being able to control our energy. Who knows, maybe if we can master our current control of our energy we might be able to reach a new strength even?”, Chris would try and even tease with a bit at the thought of such. He knew where his biggest flaw was and that was why he wanted to try and train it during this year. He couldn’t exactly control his energy fluidly. That much he was able to tell when he was using it with his other forms. Even his newest form he had unlocked in his desire to heal Flare. It was just raw energy uncontrolled.
“I do want to see how much stronger you have gotten however Bern, so if you don’t mind, I’m sorry for this but….”, Chris would say with a slight smirk as he would launch himself towards Bern, a new style of fighting compared to the old one of the knights. Its own grace was indeed held to it, but not like that of the knight arts, as he shifted side to side so gracefully trying to release a small force of air towards that of Bern, it would be reminiscent of a dragon soaring towards one with its mouth full of flames. Whether it was to even hit or not, one thing was clear. It was time for the training to begin.

The Demon would smile widely as he listened to Chris' words. His face changing to hold more determination to it as he would focus on Chris' words entirely. But first, he had to take note of how much the boy had changed. "You sure have grown a lot, Chris. I hardly recognize ya. It's been so long... I wish we could have met again under better circumstances. Knowing that our universe has ended up this way really is a shame..." he would look down a bit with a more solemn face as he finished off. He didn't want to be a downer really but the fact that they were meeting once more purely because of the Universe facing erasure was something he just couldn't help but feel sad over. He couldn't believe that he became a slacker and got rusty, letting all of this end up this way. He probably could have helped so many people if he just stayed around on Earth rather than what he ultimately chose to do. "But, it is far too late to go and change it. This is all that we can do now, and I am happy to be able to help." there was nothing the two of them could do to change the way the Universe ended up. For now, they just had to fight because their lives DID depend on it, and so did everyone else in the entire universe. Now, he was ready to really respond to what Chris said, a smile on his face once more as he got ready to speak. "I am fine with that, I won't lie but out of any form I can be in, my favorite is my regular old self. I feel at my best when I unleash the full power of my base form. The rest... are a means to protect and fight. If I could enhance my base strength to the point that it overshadowed those forms I would do so in a heartbeat." his reply was about as honest as it could be for such a topic. His powered down, regular state that he was in currently just felt too natural to pass up, and when he unleashed his full power, something he was told was attuned to Hybrids like himself, he felt better than any of his demonic transformations. They all just meant he could fight better and faster, he was happy with that, just not proud of it.
"We have a full year in here for ourselves, so I think mastering energy control would be quite nice. If we reach new strength, then so be it, we'll just be better prepared for what is to come." he would smirk as he stared Chris down, but the boy did have a point. Whenever he entered one of his more demonic forms, his energy would just leak out into a sea of corruption. It was inconvenient when it came to rationing out his energy, all of it was just bursting out. Every demonic transformation he took up just made it worse and worse as well. It was quite deplorable and he hated to admit that the forms he currently had weren't fit for a tournament styled fighting system.
The Demon didn't have much time to think about what exactly the young man said, however, as he would continue on. It was quite a blunt way to get the training started for the time being, and the Demon didn't really see it coming as he had to take a second to even process what the man said next. "I want to see how much stronger you have gotten as well, Chris, but what do you mean...-" he was cut off all too short as the man would launch at the demon, the demon immediately sliding into a combat stance as he braced for impact. Chris was fast... way faster than the demon had the capacity to handle for the time being. Not to mention it was a fighting style that the demon wasn't used to in any way. This was going to be an uphill battle if anything.
The force of air would collide with the demon as he was unable to evade it, the blast being unexpected as it would send Bernael sliding backward and knocking the wind out of him very briefly. He would regain his composure and shake his head as he would get back into a combat stance. "That was a good shot, Chris. You've grown so much more than I could possibly imagine. That is a nice fighting style you've got, I've always wanted to come up with something of my own but I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe I'll get some ideas while we are in here." he would smirk as he would set a hand on his own body, feeling where the air had slammed into him. It was a wonderful feeling, fighting someone that didn't want to kill you. He was going to have this for a full year, he had to make the most of it.
"I'm happy that it was you that I got to do this with. I don't know if I could put up with people possibly wanting to kill me for a year, all things considered." he would let his hand raise off of his body to get back into a fighting stance, launching himself back at Chris, swapping his hand positions mid launch into a fighting style he had yet to master, that of the Demon Royal Arts. His eyes would flash red as his hand would cloak in a haze of black smoke, pumping his demonic energy into his strike as he would send a right hook towards the chest of his opponent. Regardless of if his strike hit, he would immediately slide himself back into the fighting style that the Knights used, as it was the only true style that he had mastered so far. A long purple blade of ki would form between his palms as he would jump backward, not making another attack just yet as he would stare at Chris. Their visit to the Time Chamber had just begun. That slight bit of determination, the fact he had his own deal to win from this. A new peaceful existence was one that was hard to bare. The fact of how it was to be handled as well, was there really no other choice? This universe had already betrayed him twice now, a third time was really only to be expected. When that third time came however, he didn’t want his own family to be there to really witness it. They deserved to be free from the sins of the past. The sins of his home universe. He did hope some of his friends would understand, but he had his own family to save.
“Yeah, I suppose I have grown a bit. Trying to keep a balance in the universe hasn’t been the easiest of jobs. I still have guilt that I failed if we are even in this situation at all, but I honestly can’t entirely blame myself. I couldn’t possibly be in so many places at once. It may be a shame, but I will be honest. It’s a shame our universe entirely deserves. Maybe even if this is all to pass we can finally have the peace it deserves. That’s not to say you haven’t grown a lot as well Bern. I can feel your power already, it’s a lot stronger than the last time we met even.”, Chris would say with a smirk right back to the demon hybrid. Strange how friendships could work, but he didn’t blame all demons for the fault of the ones who caused trouble. He at least knew Bern well enough to know he was one he could trust.
“Bern, I’ll be honest with you, after this tournament, it’s going to be up to you and the others to keep the universe at peace. I’m afraid that I won’t really live here anymore. When Corn came to me to ask me to join. I had to make a deal to keep my own family, my own kid to come safe. The simple truth is that I’m moving universes. I just can’t let my family grow in the dangers of this universe. I’m sorry, but the decision was already made. I just can’t lose any more family to the perils of this universe. I already lost my sister forever to the demon queen…”, Chris would admit to his friend solemnly. It was painful to say the truth, but it was indeed what mattered to him over such. They were to be here for a year after all, it was best to have as much trust as possible.
Chris couldn’t help but smile as his attack connected, it was a smile of which he hadn’t enjoyed in quite a while. After all, this was meant to be training, and just knowing how much energy he had been able to place out while doing something like that. It made him excited to learn to harness such energy to its potential. The only way he really could describe it was as some form of excitement just waiting to occur. “Well thanks for the compliment Bern, sorry for the cheap shot but this tournament had no bounds, if we are to do this then we must be ready for anything. That kind of attack could easily have knocked you off the boundaries. I guess what I’m saying is that you just can’t be too careful. This tournament will involve people who have tried to kill us before, so the last thing I want happening is for some kind of surprise attack from either side just killing you there on the spot.”, Chris would warn with only a slight buffer, his words simply not finished yet, “This style as well is my own, I actually learned it from tapping into the life energy of the afterlife itself. I can use my own life energy to temporarily boost my power further, but even I don’t want to do so yet. After all this is a test of seeing what we can do with our base power no?”
However, Chris himself was unsuspecting of the very hook right towards his own chest, the force of impact knocking the very air out of him even for that very moment. As he backed away, regained his composure, and watched Bern slip into the knight’s style. He couldn’t help but smirk. This style Bern had used was indeed different, far more so than anything else he had encountered yet so far. It had him curious. “It seems I need to listen to my own advice, I will admit I’ve never even seen that style you’ve used before. In no way did I expect it in such a way.”, Chris would keep smiling as he watched Bern’s ki blade appear. “I’ll be honest, I forbade myself to ever use those arts ever against after someone made me use them for an intent I never wished. You’re not the only one with a new style however…”, Chris would speak towards Bern as he pulled both of his hands over his heart, and pulled out wards, summoning with his magical creation two blades of light and dark, his old reverse blades. His stance changed this time, mimicking that of one who was relaxed, his stance bearing similar to that Cervez had shown him. The art of destruction in its own finesse.
“This stance was taught to me by a good friend, a stance meant only for countering or purely offensive. I’m sure you can tell which I intend for by my own blade style. The very style I used under our once shared mentor.”, Chris would speak nonchalantly as he would rush at Bernael, launching repeated hammering, slicing and, stabbing towards his friend. All the while being as careful as he can to keep from hurting his friend fatally. In fact, he was hoping said friend would at least clash his blades with his own to deflect them. However, his dual bladed stance was very fast with its attacks, after all it was meant for how much damage it could do for every second while sacrificing precision and defense.

The Demons eyes would narrow as Chris explained the deal that he made with Cornatto, his physical expression at first would appear a little bit standoffish but to be honest, he understood. His narrow, stern face would just lighten to be softer, smiling at Chris with a look of understanding. "Look... you don't have to apologize to me. I understand. This place is certainly no place to live or to grow up in. My mother is the only true family I have now... but she wouldn't want to leave even if I made such a deal for her sake." he would go quiet as he thought over what exactly Chris had said after, something else to keep in mind for the Demon boy as his heart would turn in his chest.
"...My only other family is in the demon realm. I am sure you know that I am a Demon, I haven't really hidden it. But... furthermore... that Demon Queen you spoke of, is my aunt. This universe and her actions are on my shoulders now. So no, I don't blame you for leaving, and I never will. Everything takes its toll in time... and you deserve rest, your family deserves a safe place to be. I won't give myself the same freedom though, but let's win this tournament so that your family can be safe..." the once demon prince would clench his fist with more fiery determination. Despite admitting that he was the nephew of someone who did something so horrible to Chris... he hoped that the young man wouldn't hold it against him.
Once the fighting had gotten underway, however, Bernael couldn't help but laugh a bit to himself as he heard Chris' words. It really was an intimidating thing to think about if he was going to be knocked off of the boundaries of the tournament so easily. He had to work on himself for that as well. "Yeah, this is a test of our base durability and abilities. There's no need to be enhancing ourselves too much just yet. Besides, we have a year in here, we have more than enough time to show one another the full extent of what we can do. That sounds like quite a unique style though, it is quite interesting. I'd ask you to teach me it because the Afterlife has gotten my interest since I was there, but I think we have more pressing things to look into in this year, and you have to leave after so I don't think there will be much time for that." Bernael would muse a bit about the interesting style that Chris was using as he would keep himself braced now. Not only did they have to master their ability to control their energy but they also had to master their ability to withstand attacks, at least from pushing them off of the side. While it was true that Bernael almost got shoved off now, he wouldn't let it happen in the tournament that was practically a year from now.
When Chris also mused on the style that Bernael used, the demon would look down a bit. "It's... actually something from the Demon Realm. I don't take pride in an attack like that, in fact, once I am done with this tournament I am going to drop that style and look for something to call my own. But I can't find something on such short notice, so I am going to make sure I have a few extra tricks up my sleeve for the tournament." the demon would smile as he saw the young man do something quite curious when pulling out his own dual blades. "Heh, even as martial artists it seems we go back to swords, we're quite a curious lot aren't we. I am sorry that somebody did something like that to you... with these arts. I'll be keeping them myself, just because they are all that I really know. Maybe if I find something more suited to myself I'll move on." Bernael would smirk as he leaned into his stance a bit more and started to lightly shuffle sideways, trying to circle around Chris a bit now, gauging his now opponents intent.
This was definitely going to be fun, as the Demon was finally able to spar with another using a blade once more, without the threat of wanting to kill one another there the Demon couldn't help but be excited. Chris would speak a bit about what exactly the style he had now swapped into was about, which made the demon boy nod. "That sounds like quite the style, Chris. I am sure your friend is very skilled. Let's leave our old mentor out of this though, this is our battle now." the demon would smile as he locked eyes with Chris as the young man rushed at him, it seemed their battle was to continue now.
The moment that Chris would get into range, Bernael would swing his blade to try and parry the slash. The battle was uphill for sure, as even in terms of the number of blades being used he was at a disadvantage for output. For the time being, the Demon had to focus on a mixture of evasion and deflection to keep himself from taking too many hits. Aiming for a pattern of parrying one of Chris' blades attacks and attempting to evade the other. To say the least, the offensive speed of Chris' attacks were impressive that even with the lack of precision in each strike, some would get passed out of pure speed alone. He knew he wasn't going to die from these attacks that got through his defenses, however, he knew Chris wouldn't go that far. All that the Demon had to worry about was trying to get better in the time they had in the time chamber. They had to be shadows of one another so that no attack got passed either of them when it came to fighting one another.
The Demon certainly couldn't stay on the defensive the entire time however, it wasn't that simple. He would really lose after doing nothing if that were the case, and while he could sit there for as long as he wanted to attempt to learn the true pattern of Chris' barrage, the true key to progress here was to push back on his own. Once that idea was placed into his head, he would wait for a timing of Chris' barrage where he had some sort of opening where he deflected one blade and evaded the other, taking that pristine moment to slip around the side of Chris that he deflected the blade of, using that time to disengage and back away from the young man. Once he had some space placed between the both of them, he would lunge towards Chris himself, trying to push the fight back into his court as he would start to do short sequences of three slashes in varying patterns, trying to put Chris onto the defense instead. Regardless of if his attack strategy was working or not, the Demon would smirk as he pressed his assault. "I haven't had this much fun in a duel in a long time. There's something majestic about the clashing of swords." the demon's words with soft and lightly spoken, he wasn't trying to be super serious about this. If anything, this was his way of reconnecting with a friend of his even if they didn't know each other too well. [HBTC Limit Of Post: 1,256/5,000] [HBTC Limit: 2,711/5,000]
As Chris would gaze into the face of his fellow ally, there was simply that cold expression and in a way, he worried that his words had offended the hybrid. He was sorry that such had to be, but even he couldn’t express his own disappointment with the universe as a whole. He was beginning to worry that he had lost yet another friend until the demon began to smile. Chris could recognize that very looks of understand and he himself could only smile upon it. That was what a true friend was, one who could understand the pains of those he did call friends. Bernael understood his intention and thankfully that made him one of those true friends.
“Bern…thank you, thank you for not judging me for a choice that I know the others will when they find out. Maybe, she doesn’t want to leave because your still here Bern. There aren’t many people like you Bern, honestly, I could see you changing the galaxy itself, personally I see it even for the better. Demon or not, you’re still you. What makes you, you, is your friendliness to others, your eagerness to help. All in all, that’s what makes you special, that what gives you a strength that can only be viewed by others and never yourself.”, Chris would say encouragingly as he would prepare his second flurry against the solidity of Bernael’s defense. He would admit that even in his base form, he was struggling considerably for this intense pursuit. Bernael was worthy opponent, and even as he thought on the words Bernael had said. It was tough to admit, but he didn’t blame Bernael for his aunt. He couldn’t, after all the blame passed on in his family by those of the before. No, he wouldn’t be like them, he couldn’t be like them.
“Bern, even if your Aunt is the Demon Queen that took my sister’s soul away, I don’t blame you. I could never blame you because it isn’t your fault. The sins of the family do not befall upon the next generation. The crimes your Aunt has caused will come back to haunt her one day, but not you Bern. I don’t judge you for it…because it isn’t your fault, it never was your fault.”, Chris would speak toward Bern with an exalted interest in his tone. He truly didn’t blame his friend for the Demon Queen, he cared for him as a true friend should. He cared for him on who he was himself.
As Bern would ask about his own technique, Chris couldn’t help but smile about it. It was an interesting thought and it did stink that he was to leave soon. There would be no time for him to do so unfortunately. “Bern, I love that you would want to learn my own technique, maybe if I try showing it off to you later this year, you might be able to use something of it yourself for your own style. It’s a shame that there just isn’t much time left for me to teach it, the teaching itself would be better if you were to have some kind of family or a loved one nearby to help you out. If only we had been able to meet sooner, maybe things could’ve been different.”, Chris would begin to admit solemnly as he would make his first slip up in combat, leaving himself widely open, an opportunity Bern had persistently been able to take.
As the varying slashes were to come it almost immediately placed Chris on the defensive, lacking the precision of such to focus on his defensive, using the force of his two blades together to try and intercept the slashes like a wall themselves. It would seem that he was being place on the edge here with these practices. He would have to admit that Bern’s movement had been smart in how their retaliation had sought. That was a weak point he was going to have to remember for when he would be fighting in the tournament of power. “Your right that this battle right now is between just us, just like our blades are. Each one is more than just a tool, a physical extension to who we are ourselves. I won’t let this fight end just like this Bern, I promised you a good fight and I sure as hell will give it to you.”, Chris would give his own comment, a smirk forming quite considerably on his face. Even if he would stay on the defensive for now, focusing towards blocking that of his friend’s slashes. Study and learn, he needed to adapt, but for now it was time to learn. He would find the weak point of Bern’s stance eventually, the question being just when.
All and all Chris had to admit, this experience was going to be one of the most fun he’s had for the longest of times. In fact, this was already ramping up to be a better experience than his last trip to this chamber. At most, at least there wasn’t going to be the entire earth getting attacked right as they walked out. Well at least he hoped at that one, he really was not wanting a repeat of the last time. “I’ll be honest, I haven’t had this much fun in a while as well. In fact, I haven’t been able to clash with others with swords in even longer. This experience to be able to fight with them evenly once again, well, its just plain wonderful.”, Chris would say with his continued smile, excitement clear in his voice as he continued to watch for Bern’s stance. All he could do simply for now after all was just to block. In this white expanse of a void, they held a year in a day, where that training would take them was the true wonder, but how they were to reach such powers was only dependent on that aftermath. That was true fate for you, unpredictable to the very end.

The words that Chris spoke hit home with Bernael, not in a bad way, but it made him think a bit more about this entire situation. He would keep pressing his assault but it would certainly drop in speed as he was trying to connect with his ally rather than all-out fight. "I never thought of it that way... I'll talk to her about it... see what she thinks. I've learned to think more highly of myself as of late though, I had to talk to the Grand Supreme Kai and she helped me get through some personal stuff. I assume you know what a Supreme Kai is, Corn had a talk with me about them and the God of Destruction... scary stuff." he would go silent as he pondered what else Chris said... what he said about his aunt. All of it was true, really, for the most part anyways. "She's honestly the biggest reason I feel like staying. I don't want to judge myself for her actions, but I won't stop other people from looking down at me for it. I didn't know how horrible she could be until I died. I associated myself with her unknowingly out of trust for family and I paid the price. Hell was colder and darker than it is in those fiery fairy tales. For that, I want to dedicate myself to making sure she doesn't do things like that again... she erased people. She killed people in hell and they don't have a chance of coming back now, whether they deserved to be down there or not." the demon's words would fall silent once more as he looked down, his assault all but stopping at this point.
"I don't hate myself for her actions, but I can't just stand here any longer knowing what she would or will do to people. My time in hell solidified that. This training may be for the tournament but once that is over, that is my focus." he would smile as he braced himself for combat once more. Maybe his words were a bit rough or harsh but they had a lot of meaning to the demon boy. It wasn't a punishment for him, he just knew who exactly he was again at this point. Well, aside from the Saiyans who had attacked his home many times. He just had a more personal vendetta when it came to those he felt used by, he didn't want more to suffer at their hands.
The Demon would nod to himself as he would launch himself back into the fight now, his determination reignited as his true goal, in the long run, was reaffirmed for himself. His fighting style would change, however, as he swapped back into the Demon Royal Arts stance, infusing his strikes with his demonic energy as his arm and blade would begin to glow with a dark, shadowy mist. His strikes still weren't aimed to do any real damage, he just was once more changing his attack pattern as each attack was aimed to be more powerful, intending to break guards and overpower defenses if anything. Each strike was slow, calculated, and empowered with demonic energy. But it's slowness was its own weakness currently, each slash was open well enough for a counterattack of sorts as Bern had yet to even come close to mastering such a style. The demon didn't plan to either, in time it would be a style lost to the ages for the Demon boy.
"If you let the fight end easily, I would ask what you are doing in here~ We will have many more after this as well I am sure. So let's give it our all like we were already fighting against each other for our survival!" the demon would chuckle as his smirk would light up right alongside his opponent. Out of anybody that he could have been with, Chris was probably the most suited to give the demon a good time when it came to sparring. There was something special about clashing swords against one another that a flurry of fists just couldn't give the demon. His blood was pumping at the exhilarating thought of being able to do this for a year was nice for now, but it might eventually burn the demon out on such combat, which was fine. If he wanted to build a fighting style of his own he would probably build it around hand to hand combat anyway, due to being more open towards other fighters. He knew that not everyone was a sword enthusiast like himself.
He had already come to terms with not being able to learn the style he had saw before, but his interest peaked just off of the idea of being able to see it shown off later. It'd give him some ideas, he had never been a master of anything before so really the idea of being able to just learn from one aside from his previous mentor was exhilarating on its own. He didn't know if he could really incorporate any of Chris' fighting style into his own down the line but the Demon just had to hope that he could learn something or other. He had a year to get into that though, for now, it was their current fight, and the Demon had to focus on the now instead of the later.
After only a short while of being on the offensive, the Demon would back up and put some room between the two, holding his blade out to the side as he would smile. Even though not even a day had passed, he fully enjoyed that he was in the time chamber once more. A full year of such fighting with his ally, and being able to talk to Chris and get closer to him than ever before. Though, a bit of the Demon was quite worried that spending a year alone with Chris would lead the demon to regret his departure. Another side of him believed that having a year in here was all he needed to accept Chris leaving, as they had the time they needed to know each other enough to not regret it. In the end, that was when he came up with the true answer of how he would feel after all of this. "I know I said I won't judge you for going. But, I do have one thing I have to accept... after this year together, I will be sad to see you go. I admire your decision, and no matter what happens over this next year and then the tournament I hope you don't change your mind. And I'll also do my best to get others to accept your decisions as well... aside from those who we obviously won't get along with, you deserve to have a good view in the other's eyes." the demon would smirk as he spoke. This was going to be his last heart to heart for now with his opponent. Afterall, the Demon was the one that said they should fight like they already were fighting for their survival.
Once more, Bernael would hold his sword back into the Knight's stance, the corrupted energies of his demonic side fading as he was back on the lighter side of his two styles. The two things he had access to were quite the opposites, one being used with Light and the other corrupted by the Dark. He just had to hope that both would be put to good use in the tournament. Bernael, a friend that would keep on fighting for his own ideals, his own view to the very ends of a hell and back. That was real courage, a type of courage that couldn’t simply be placed alone on only that of words. This was the type of courage that could only be placed to that of actions. His friend’s actions befitted such courage. He couldn’t help but agree with Bern’s words on the scariness of their current situation, between that of the universe’s fate to these gods of destruction. Everything of this whole experience was just true terror in it’s brightest. All they could do really for now was to survive it. In reality, that was all anyone could truly do really.
As Bernael would explain of his visit to hell, Chris couldn’t help but be shocked. He had known his friend to be a good person from what he had met of him. That didn’t help with the ease of the shock, his face twisting as well to one of confusion on Bern’s words. As he explained more on the erasure she did of the souls in hell, he couldn’t help but feel a burning hatred inside of his gut. No one deserved to be erased like that, even souls sentenced to such a hellish land scape. It just, wasn’t right. No one deserved such a thing, and he was glad that Bernael wasn’t like his Aunt in that part.
“It’s never right for someone to be erased liked that. Death is one thing of itself, but erasure is just…gone, that person never to be able to live again through reincarnation or otherwise. It’s scary to think, but even though we are doing it for this universe’s survival. It feels like we are doing the same thing to this fellow universe. If we win their entire universe will be erased, all those lives just gone forever, and yet if we don’t we will be the ones erased. No matter what no one can win, we can only buy time to improve. It’s a sad fact that we will have to face. It’s just not fair in the slightest is it…”, Chris would begin to say as he took his gaze off of Bernael to that of the void filled white before them.
“Either way Bernael, you goal is a good one, a valiant one. I don’t know what you did fully to get sent to hell, but if you keep your goal true to your word. I know you won’t go back there the next time.”, Chris would begin to say as another clash came from the blades. As Bernael began to switch for slower hits, he began to notice their slowness coming for him. He had a rough idea of what he could do, but even then, it would be risky considering Bernael was slash with the force of two hands compare to his own one for each. Just like that, Chris would move swiftly to use one of his short blades to try and hold back the force of Bernael’s single blade. It would indeed be a struggle for him still, but it was the location of his other blade that truly made the point of matter. He swung it while trying to hold Bern’s other blade clashed with a swipe of his own, stopping before full contact however if Bern didn’t manage to block it.
This level of sword fighting was always so intriguing when it came to spars like this. In a factor it was who his opponent was as well. Not many truly sword fight any longer and having someone like Bern who did? This kind of thing was wonderful in every way. Even as he felt the pressures of the gravity from this chamber, something thankfully he had mastered what had felt all so long ago. That didn’t mean that repeated training inside of it wasn’t exhausting in the slightest. How long had they even been fighting for already? He had lost track of such time throughout their exchanges. His sight did gaze towards the sky as a muscle memory, but the memories of the expanse of the sky made him smile. He forgot that it was impossible to tell of night and day here. It was a shame, but it was something they were willing to live with. After all, as long as they could keep a basic time to mind at least tit would be more bearable over the day.
As Bern would express the thought of missing him, Chris couldn’t help but smile. Friends like these were good to have, that was for sure. “Heh, thank you Bern, I won’t lie. I will miss you guys as well, you, Galen, Jie, my father and lil sister even if they don’t come along, heck even old Arion. I can’t thank you guys enough for how great you’ve all been to me. However, I can promise you that one day maybe we will chat again. When that comes I’ll make sure to tell you all about how my life there is doing. I thank you for trying to make the others see though, I can’t help but be thankful for that. It why I do wish you the best of luck when I’m gone. The next time we meet I hope to see this universe still standing with you helping it along. That would mean more to me than anything else here.”, Chris would admit with his own smile towards Bern as he would back off for a moment from Bern’s sword combat. He had to admit, that Bern had gotten a lot stronger, even blocking those blows had been a bit tough. “Hey Bern, you don’t mind if we take a break, do you? That was tougher than I was expecting.”, Chris would flatly admit to his friend. Still to Chris, the thought that the both of them had such powers. Well it made him more confident in one thing. He was almost certain his home universe would survive.

When Chris began to speak once more, the Demon set his full attention on every word being sent his way, catching them and debating them in his mind as he pondered what they could mean to him. All of it caught up towards the end however once the man spoke about hell. What exactly could Bernael say about it... he didn't want to lie to Chris whatsoever. It was his duty to tell Chris his side of the story, whether it was right or wrong. "Well... Chris. When it comes to being judged in Otherworld Chris... your actions speak far louder than your intent to do them. I led my life doing things for people I thought I could trust and those who I thought could be good. My judgment was wrong." the Demons gaze would fall a bit as he would do his best to clash blades with the swordsman, the style that was being used having an upper hand on his own that he had realized far too late when he switched to his stronger more brutish stance. While the power to break through guards was well enough, it didn't mean that the guard breaking would be instantaneous. In fact, it wasn't fast enough to cope with Chris using one blade to block and another to get an easy swipe in while the Demon was all too vulnerable.
The Demon's eyes would widen a bit as he would try to do his best to change his swords angle to compensate for the new attack, but it wasn't enough. He winced for a moment as he realized the blade didn't actually go all the way through and that Chris stopped it right before full contact with the Demon. A soft sigh would release out from his lips as he would shake his head. "You bested me there, Chris. Your dual blade style is one to be fearful of. If I was your enemy I would be scared of going up against it." he would smirk a bit as he finally had a moment to think a bit more about what he wanted to say when it came to his trip to hell.
"...I won't hide my faults in what I did. Jarvis... or as many know him now as Caesar. He was once my best friend, he died in my arms on an attack on the Lookout long ago. I felt like I lost a vital friend in my life and I crushed myself for not being able to save him. He revived but he was different... I was too foolish and didn't see through it. He came back as the ruler of a new Empire, the Cerulean Empire at the time. He came to me as a Friend once more and asked me to help gather the Dragon Balls. He said it was going to be used as a wish to help his empire. I saw it as a way to apologize to my friend for my inability to save his life and as a way to help those of an Empire that needed assistance. Instead, he used it to become that thing he is today... that beast that we fought together was all my fault." he would pause as he went back. The entire reason Chris and his father died back then was for his own faults. He failed there, and he knew that he deserved to go to hell after that. "I understand if you wish to condemn me for that. What I did was terrible. And it is a perfect example of my intent being for something good but it was truly something I deserve to go to hell for. But, I don't mind now. If anything being in hell has been quite the learning experience for me, I would be okay with going back down there next time even if I turn myself around if they so choose me to go back down. All I have to know for myself is that I have changed." he would smile a bit as Chris. He was perfectly okay with being condemned for that... it was the biggest thing that he was comfortable with when it came to being his fault. He had been tricked, and it was his fault for being tricked.
The demon would shake his head a bit, he had gotten too deep into explaining himself for such a thing. Maybe, in the end, he just should have shut up about all of this, admitting such a thing could easily hurt his relationship with Chris for the year to come. But he did not regret what he said at this point, for it was far too late to regret such a thing. If he had the power to turn back time, perhaps he would change it to be so but there were many other things that he would change first if he had such a power that it didn't really matter. The demon would disperse his Ki Blade as he allowed Chris to speak and ask for a break. It was something harmless, and the Demon couldn't help but oblige when it came to that. They had a year to train, that didn't mean they had to spend every second of it constantly training. If they did that their bodies would burn out far before they were able to leave and then they would be worse off for the tournament anyways.
"Heh, I will count the days till we meet again Chris. I'll make sure that I clean this place up enough to make it presentable before you check up on us. If I don't, well, expect me to be in the midst of battle as you see me as I try to fight till my last breath once again for this Universe I call home." the Demon would give a wide grin as he tried to address what Chris had stated when it came to them meeting again someday. "But either way, we have many months to train in here. We can take all the breaks we wish as long as we make a little progress, right? So let's get some time to cool off our bodies before we try again." the demon would give a slight wave goodbye to Chris. It wasn't like he was going anywhere for now, they were in this room together with very little space for privacy for the next year, he wasn't going anywhere. If anything it was a way to tell Chris that he was going to book it back to the resting area to get first dibs on whatever he could find without bluntly saying it. First come first serve in a room for two!
Who knew what was going to happen in the year to come... their training would be rigorous and they would go through a lot just trying to get their bodies to peak capabilities by then. Only time could tell in that room where only a day passed. [HBTC Limit Of Post: 1,167/5,000] [HBTC Limit: 5,141/5,000 ... HBTC Limit for Bernael reached]
As Bernael would try to explain the afterlife to him, Chris couldn’t help but feel him in that part. Chris had been dead before after all, an experience he knew Bern had known. Either way, even with such trivial things causing such a matter, even Chris couldn’t help but feel bad for the guy. Simply the thought to do things, thinking you were doing the right thing the whole time only to be faced so suddenly that you lost such respects, that your entire world had been a lie. It was an experience he himself had never face, and quite frankly it was one he wasn’t entirely sure he even wanted to face himself. That kind of experience was tough to pass by there, it was something that couldn’t exactly be felt the same by one who never had such, but…the pain of such?
“I will be honest with you Bern, I’ve never faced such an action myself. Simply having your entire view of the world shattered around you just like that is something I don’t even know if I would want to experience myself. Yet, here you have. I can’t say I know the pain that might’ve been to come from that, however I can say that even if such did happen. It doesn’t mean it’s the end for you. The past was the past, its what we do in the present and now that truly change how our future is to go. I guess the only one who can really decide that one however is ourselves heh.”, Chris would say trying his best to have made light of a darker situation. They were already here for a year, there was no need to go through it filled only with grief. Eventually grief just had to heal.
As the blow was to come, he could only react with surprise as his guard was broken from the single blade, however his quick movement of the other blade had secured him the fight. A deciding victory purely won by luck in his eyes. Sword fighting like this, it had been so long, yet this experience had been so fun. It made him a bit excited for the next round. He couldn’t quite explain it really, but that wasn’t to say that the experience had been any less than what he had hoped for. All in all, it just secured one thing for him, the thought that Bernael had indeed been the perfect partner for him. At least he did have one such friendly rivalry that continued to exist.
It was right then that Bern explained his own side to the story, of what he had done to help Jarvis. That kind of thing usually was hard to forgive, that much was easy to say. However, maybe stories weren’t always as black and white as one usually made them out to be. Who was it to says that things had to go a perfectly exclusive way with no bumps on the road. That wasn’t the road he followed, and that road wasn’t the one his friend was following. There was a difference he did see in his own eyes. A difference in most that he saw. That difference to him, was what made Bern a honorable person no matter what those in the afterlife thought.
“Bern…No, I refuse to accept for you to keep blaming yourself for this. Bern there’s nothing wrong with helping a friend, helping a friend especially with a goal that you truly thought was to help people. There was no way you could’ve known what he was planning. You blame yourself like all of this is your fault, but it truly isn’t. This is Jarvis’s own undoing. Heck, Bern I truly believe that deep inside that heart of Jarvis’s a part of him is still your friend. Something I believed deep inside that there was still good in him despite what the gods would say. I refused to listen to them because I do believe it. A part inside of him that refuses to truly die, a part of him that is your friendship. That what friends are, and that what makes us friends to them. When we meet someone, we do more than just make a new friend, we leave a part of ourselves inside of them to keep them safe, a part to let them know we are there. You don’t deserve hell, we all make mistakes, we all must live with them. When I was about ready to fight Jarvis, before I had to leave, that care in his eyes for Shizen. If he truly holds such feelings inside of him. Your friend isn’t gone, he’s lost. Lost and I suppose, still looking for his true way back.”, Chris would say before taking his own short breath, “I don’t blame you Bernael, I’d never blame you for what your friend has done. I never would give up on you Bern, Never give up on your own friends, never give up on Jarvis.”
