Dou Furu bristled as the young monster spoke to him, saying nothing for fear of angering the new false god of the south. Instead, he floated down beside Jie Shan's fallen body and only gave Jarvis the slightest of nods, moved by fear: he would do as the young god child said when Jie Shan was in a state that he could hear such words. For now, however, his hands wrapped tight around the hilt of Jie Shan's blade. It was stuck deep in the ground, placed there with unnatural might and would only be removed with the very same. All around them, the forest twisted and winded, coming in like serpents from a pit.

Summoning all his might, the Earthling pulled the blade from the earth and his master. The bloody steel sang as it came forth from Jie Shan's frame, scarlet and silver in the brilliant sunlight, a perfect match for battered and bloody frame of the silver haired Kami, who had long since reverted to his base form. Dou Furu stood there for a moment, looking down at his master in a mixture of abject horror and pity for the fallen guardian. But he chased his fear away and bent at the knee, soon slinging the Kami over his shoulder.

The Earthling rose well into the air, leaving Jarvis's new temple behind, and returning to the Lookout, cutting through the air as the blood of the Kami slowly dripped towards the earth as they flew, like a crimson drizzle. Upon arrival to Lookout, Dou Furu quickly entered the small palace and descended to the lower levels where Jie Shan had prepared a medical machine some time ago, in preparation for the coming darkness. It was a state of the art machine, capable of restoring bodies and limbs.

But not minds or spirits. That took a different kind of healing.

Jie Shan was hastily shoved inside, whereupon the miraculous healing liquid within began to work its purpose on Jie Shan. The Kami's life and body were saved, being returned from the brink of death and destruction. Time would pass and Jie Shan would in time emerge from the liquid within perfectly whole and sound of body, but the internal damage? The cracks that had already ran through his mind? What could be said of them? Only time would tell, though a lingering and crimson darkness had been placed into the furthest reaches of Jie Shan's mind, colored by blood and hate. It was the umbra of a specter, haunting the recesses of his mind.

Time did not heal all wounds, a lesson Jie Shan had learned long ago and would surely be reminded of in the coming weeks.
