"Quotes are a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words."

There was a time before that thrice damned tree took root on Earth and before the hellish king decided that he was going to play games with the people of Earth and descend into an even darker pit of madness and embrace his true monstrous nature. Events turned and time seemed to slow to a standstill, but life is full of twists and turns and one only need look back on history to see where the little stories intersect.
Jie Shan Lan Dian, the newly minted Kami of Earth, was still settling into his Lookout. The ascent had been. . . eventful, with what seemed like everyone in the world coming down on him at the most vulnerable moment, the decidedly worst time. But it had led to some rather. . . interesting meetings as well, including some hard reunions. The Saiyan halfblood stood on the edge of the Lookout, peering down on the world. Something stirred in his heart as he looked at the clouds below, knowing what vulnerable globe lay beneath the white and fluffy layer that formed the clouds. It struck him that he was responsible for the world below, his new home. It was a. . . humbling prospect, to say the least. The hybrid Kami could feel his mouth go dry. He really had obligations. And he knew one was going to rear its ugly head sooner or later: entertaining a powerful interloper.
It had been the jackal man, the one who had arrived on the day of his ascent, demanding to meet Kami. And Jie Shan knew he had to honor that want, lest he draw the ire of another powerful force. Now, he thought, was not the time to be making enemies, be it personal ones or enemies for Earth. Swallowing hard, Jie Shan looked up to the sky and closes his eyes. Wind tussled the silver hair on his head and the white fur around his neckline. He was not, at the moment, wearing his blade and he felt a little lighter than usual.
Jie Shan's mind swam across Earth, looking for the ki of that man. And with it, came a message, should the man's mind be receptive when and if his ki was found.
"Hello," thought the Kami, "this is Jie Shan. The Kami of Earth. I seem to recall you wanting a meeting with me. Well, if you still do, I'm around. Feel free to swing by."
WC: 402 Using Jie Shan's Mansion. Thread PL: 302,891 Cervez
Tall ears twitched as a familiar voice breached the recess of his mind, the Anubian slowly opened his eyes and got up from his meditating pose he had been under for the past hours. It was a practice in patience, something that he'd be the first to admit that he lacked on most days when he was frustrated or annoyed at recent events. Like once more being denied his meeting with the Kami for example.
But right now? It seemed the Kami himself contacted him to come and have their fated meeting; how... respectful of him to remember about it and make sure to contact him. Perhaps he wasn't just some schmuck with a make-believe title after all. 'Only time will tell...' He shook his head before leaving the common room, earning the curiosity of Samael who had been in his own meditating trance moments prior.
"Something's wrong, Master?" He watched his Master's back as Cervez walked out of the room, stopping right at the door before he was out of it. "I'm going back to the Lookout, it's time the Kami and I have our fated meeting." He waited for the eventual follow-up that Samael would do, and he wasn't surprised when it came. "Do you need assistance?" He could hear the Demonic Wolfman's clothes shuffling like he was attempting to get up and follow but not before earning the right to do so by his Master.
Good, at least Samael knew when to stop being a smartass and follow orders for once. "No, I can handle myself, worst come to worst I'll dispose of him." Both Canines ignoring the tick in Cervez's heart when he mentioned disposing of the Kami. They knew that Cervez's strength wasn't as it used to be almost thousand of years ago, so dying by the hands of the Kami, or anyone stronger than him was a certain possibility they couldn't overlook.
They stood there silent for a few seconds before Cervez spoke again. "Take care of the temple while I'm away. Oh, and Samael..." Cervez looked at the Wolfman over his shoulder, earning his vassal's full attention. "Do not throw any parties while I'm gone..." The last time he did so he came back to a totally trashed temple and a completely smashed Samael, needless to say the Wolfman got his comeuppance later on that day.
The threat was clear in those eyes. If Cervez came back and found the whole place trashed they'd be hell to pay.
Samael gulped. "I wouldn't dare, Lord Cervez."
He hummed under his breath, staring at his increasingly anxious vassal before he finally left the room. Samael waited a full five minutes, ensuring that Cervez was well out of sensing reach before he felt like he could breathe again. Samael sighed deeply before standing back up, a small smirk crossing his muzzle. "He said to not throw a party, he didn't say that I couldn't enjoy listening to music~" Leaving the room, the Demon Wolf entered his room, finding what he came for, he re-entered the common room with a strange device in his humongous paws.
Most that took a look at it would recognize it as a boom box, a cassette already put inside and ready to be played. "If there is one thing I love about these earthlings besides their food..." Settling the boom box down and hitting play, the Wolfman's feet began to tap on the ground as the loud catchy music echoed across the room and soon enough the whole temple. "Is that their music is quite catchy!" Soon enough the silly wolf was dancing to the beat of the tune, not a care in the world now that he was in the zone.
Back with Cervez, the Anubian shook his head as his highly sensitive ears detected the sound of music coming from where he had left moments ago. He'd forgive Samael this time but the threat he made still stood, the temple should better be in pristine condition before he returned or he'd be greatly annoyed.
Soon enough, his eyes detected the large pillar of the lookout in the distance, he continued his flight forward without stopping, looking almost like he'd crash against the pillar before he abruptly shifted his flight pattern vertically, flying perpendicular to the stonework and soon enough reached the top of the lookout. Looking down, he spotted the sight of the Kami looking down the clouds below, probably seeing something that he wasn't seeing with his eyes.
He descended slowly to the floor, his feet touching the square tiles silently as he gave the Hybrid a look, hands behind his back and posture straight. "So your schedule is finally free to humor me?" A derisive smirk crossed his features as he walked forward, languidly and with no hurry. "I figured you'd still be accommodating into the whole Kami schtick..." Half-lidded eyes stared at the male, searching for something it seemed before the Anubian spoke again. "Tell me... does the title actually means anything to your people, or is it just something that the next schmuck that comes along can earn?"
Irritation was clearly heard in his voice, the Anubian slightly insulted that it seemed people could just come up here and deem themselves worthy of being called Kami, of becoming a God. "Tell me..." He continued speaking, "What do you know about Anubians?" It was a fair question after all not many people knew about their species or what their true purpose was like, but perhaps this Kami will surprise him.

Jie Shan could feel the massive ki on the horizon, approaching him like some sort of missile, cruising towards the Lookout with manic energy. The man moved with power befitting of a Super Saiyan state. How had Jie Shan not sensed such power on his planet before? It was mind boggling that such individuals could still exist without the notice of the typically keen minded Kami. It was. . . embarrassing almost, how little Jie Shan knew about the man, a potential threat to his people. He would have to rectify that, yes indeed. If only to figure out just what this man was all about.
The jackal being finally touched down on the Lookout, descending as if he were a king or god in his own right, holding himself with such dignity, Jie Shan could not help but feel that the man was almost sort of statuesque. Still, he thought, this was no time to marvel at someone else. There was a meeting to be held.
Jie Shan offered the man a small polite bow in greeting and listened to the man as spoke and strode forward, coming towards the Kami. Jie Shan's warrior instincts, finely honed by years of combat and paranoia bristled, but he did not react. Instead, Jie Shan looked at the Anubian with a plain, stoic face, more like stone than flesh.
The man asked question. Could anyone be Kami? What did Jie Shan know about Anubians? Hard questions, he thought, as he knew precious little of the jackal people and it seemed like, yes, anyone indeed could be come Kami if they set their minds to it. Decidedly unimpressive answers, truly, but it was the best he had.
Jie Shan's Saiyan monkey tail swung behind him for a moment before it wrapped itself around his waist. He paused a moment, and carefully considered his answer.
"I know nothing of the Anubians, I admit," he said, "save for that you all seem fairly powerful, given my meeting with the other one. Powerful. . . And fairly confident, I would say. You both carry yourselves with chutzpah, I've noticed. Maybe arrogance, some might call it, if you are looking for honesty."
Jie Shan sighed.
"As for Kami," he said, "well, it's complicated. My look into our archives tells me there have been many of us in the past, but that doesn't necessarily mean anyone can become one. You see, it is our duty to watch over this planet. The average person knows nothing of our duty. For the typical Earthling, I am as ephemeral as those who occupy the other bits and pieces of the Upper Realms."
Jie Shan grinned.
"We're not in it for the glory, though," said Jie Shan, "at least I'm not. It's all about the duty, you know, our purpose. I hope I've made you understand that it is not just a title, but rather a set of responsibilities as well. I can explain those further if you wish."
Jie Shan nodded to the Anubian, waiting on his response.

It was easy to spot that the Kami was apprehensive of him, his gaze easily picking how the young man tensed at his approach yet he made no offensive move towards him. It was the testament of a warrior's psyche, but also of someone that was slightly lingering on paranoia. His head tilted to the side slightly, looking almost like a dog as he scrutinized the hybrid intently with his gaze before he spoke. "I'd be surprised if you knew about Anubians, in any case. There's not exactly many of us out there, That aside... this other one... what did they look like? Do you have a name?" Perhaps the Kami was talking about his fellow brethren, Sinthe? If that wasn't the case then it meant there was another Anubian out there, his curiosity was immediately piqued by this new development.
'Perhaps coming to this planet wasn't a waste of time after all...'
He easily brushed off the man's comment about their race, since he was fairly accurate on his assessment of their behavior. Even so, he couldn't help the slight tinge of annoyance that coursed through his being before he squashed it all together. He listened attentively to his explanations of the Kami, and his suspicions were confirmed; earning a sour frown as he thought about that for a bit. "The Kais, they're Beings of Creation. They are the ones that watch over certain quadrants of the galaxy." He replied almost absently, still hanging on Jie's last words.
So they weren't exactly Godlike but held some sort of duty toward the planet they were entrusted to protect? He could understand that given that it was a fairly similar job one would have if they were entrusted with a child if you were a parent, or a vassal of some kind if you were a Lord of some kind.
Still, he was interested now, and so he motioned Jie to proceed with a flourish of his hand. "You have my attention..."

Jie Shan cocked a silvered eyebrow.
"The Anubian I met," he said, "was the one who arrived with you back during my ascent to this position. We had a small run-in towards the south, wherein I remarked I was impressed by his power. Though, it is nowhere close to your own. I am sorry to say I don't recall his name."
Jie Shan paused for a moment and looked at the other Anubian with some curiosity. He seemed awfully interested in his own kind, that much was for sure. Perhaps their species had gone through some crisis, not unlike that of the Saiyans, and he was simply inquiring about potential survivors? It was hard to say.
"Speaking of," he added, "I don't recall your name either, if you ever said it. I should like to know it."
Jie Shan shrugged regarding the bits about the Kai folk. They seemed uninterested in him, and as such, he was not particularly interested in them. And perhaps it was best to keep it that way; Jie Shan thought little good would come of the core people meddling with his own affairs; he would prefer to keep Earth distant from otherworldly business, but he knew how impractical that probably was.
"Yes, the Kai," he sighed, "the average Earthling doesn't know it goes further than me."
The Anubian gave Jie Shan the go ahead to explain his own duties, and Jie Shan nodded.
"Alright," he began, "my job is fairly simple, on paper: to protect this planet. Of course, we already established this. Beyond being a guardian in my own right, I also have some responsibility to prepare warriors on this planet. That can be through good, old fashioned training, letting them drink some magic water we have in the back, or putting them through a magical room in which a year passes inside, but only a day passes outside. I am also responsible for maintaining this Lookout, which is a sort of headquarters for these warriors."
Jie Shan nodded.
"And, you know," he continued, "since I'm a Saiyan, at least a half one, I tend to prefer to be a man of action as well, so I continue my own training up here so I might better serve the planet."
Jie Shan paused.
"Oh," he said, "I am also this planet's representative in the other world. A sort of spiritual head, you see. Though I find it funny, as I was never a spiritual person myself. Though I am sure you know a lot of aliens tend not to be!"
Cervez liked to think that he did well enough to hide the disappointment that clearly wanted to show in his face. "Ah, I see. I thought you've met others like me. The one you met was called Sinthe, a close associate of mine..." Cervez stood there pensive for a few moments before shaking his head off these thoughts.
He didn't expect the Kami to remember his name, considering the plethora of things that happened some days ago upon this place, so some introductions were in order. Cervez made sure to use his most charming smile, putting a hand against his chest, he made a courteous half-bow towards the Kami, though his smile was quick to turn into a smirk. "Where are my manners? The name's Cervez, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance..." He straightened back up and listened attentively as Jie Shan's explained what was his true purpose as a Kami, or what he was becoming to realize as simply the Guardian of Earth and some sort of representative for the Afterlife.
Though what grabbed his attention the most was when the Kami mentioned this strange room of his. 'One year inside and one day outside? Interesting...' That room could serve in bringing someone's potential to the forefront in a time of dire need or strife. "You'd be correct to think that, yet some of them believe in some special Godhood that can be achieved by some means." He didn't mention that beings such as him and the Kais believed in an even higher power, in someone that could bring destruction to every universe just because they wished it.
He didn't want the Kami to be constantly paranoid that one day, without further notice, the Universe could cease to be in the blink of an eye.

"Sinthe, eh?" said Jie Shan, "I'll have to remember that. He was an interesting sort."
As the animal man revealed his own name, Cervez, he offered Jie Shan a small, sort of half bow. Jie Shan returned the gesture, slightly inclining his back in order to offer the man his due respect. After all, he was a guest here on the Lookout.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Cervez," he said, "I'm glad this meeting in particular could happen on. . . calmer terms. The Lookout tends to be a bustling place, but you certainly came at the busiest time. Even I did not quite expect that morning to turn out the way it did."
Jie Shan shrugged at the mention of attaining godhood.
"I suppose some might think that way, that becoming a god is something within the reach of mortals," he said with some note of derision in his voice, "but I would never make such claims. Though my title might be that of a deity, I prefer not to think of myself as such."
Jie Shan grinned as his tail swayed behind him.
"I can be a cocky guy," he chuckled, "though I'm not arrogant enough to go around calling myself a god. You'll never hear me refer to myself as Kami-sama, you know?"
Jie Shan suddenly frowned and looked at Cervez for a moment, a serious demeanor plain on his face, a grimace that meant business. The Kami felt a sudden surge of melancholy, a languid feeling coming over his soul, one that he could not keep from sprouting on his face; a change that Cervez ought to be privy to, unless the man was truly daft.
"I've seen the darkness sewn by people who pretend at being gods," he said simply, a darkness in his voice, "it's been quite the cautionary tale."
Cervez merely shrugged. "Let me be candid -- I'm quite surprised that Komatsu didn't just destroy the whole lookout, with how angry he was. Saiyans aren't the epitome of control nor ones to let a dishonor slide when their pride was hurt." Falling silent for a few precious beats, the Anubian choose to shrug his shoulders again. "Then again, people can change." Or they merely mask it deep inside. While it was true that people could change, that didn't mean they couldn't go back to how they were before.
At the joke, the Anubian shared a smirk with the Hybrid before him. He was surprised that Jie Shan wasn't letting the title go to his head. Many beings in the galaxy would love to be called Gods, and be treated with the respect that such a title deserved. Yet they always let that notion go to their head, they made mistakes, and in the end, they died like the trash they were.
He easily spotted the change in demeanor in the Saiyan's body language and hummed under his breath as he thought about something for a few seconds, the silence almost becoming unbearable before he finally spoke. “While true Gods do exist, those that dare to call themselves Gods are nothing but charlatans, and in the end, their comeuppance will be swift..." Locking eyes with Jie Shan, Cervez slowly tilted his head curiously to the side a bit. "But it seems you've encountered someone that acted this way before..." Crossing his arms over his chest, the Anubian offered his palm towards the Hybrid in a sort of 'do go on' gesture before resting it back on his bicept. "Care to share?"

Jie Shan had to laugh when the Anubian mention Komatsu. While Jie Shan had fully apologized to the Saiyan warrior and had really meant it, there was still some part of him that felt sour towards the boy. Perhaps it was the boy's strange power and how he had wielded it against Jie Shan back on the Lookout on that fateful day, using it to strike out at Jie Shan. Or perhaps it was the fact that there had always been some smoldering rivalry between the two since they had once been pitted against each other by Nasu.
"Komatsu is a character," said Jie Shan, "though I can't say I can blame him, you know? Everything he said about me is true. I won't hide from that. As for the topic of change. . . I hope people can change, at least for the better. I know full well they can change for the worse."
The Anubian made some comment about comeuppance for the false gods of the universe, and Jie Shan sincerely hoped that his words would one day ring true. The silver haired hybrid wanted nothing more than to see the restless faux deities of the world laid to rest and give peace a chance to return to the universe. The very fake gods that Cervez now asked for an example.
"I mean," he said, "you only need to look about you. But allow me to give you a very strong example: Jarvis, the king of Vegeta and once emperor of Saiyan kind. Now, he's back and goes about holding his head in the upper realms. Not long ago, he came to this very Lookout and wreaked havoc on it. On the day of my ascent to this title, he invaded my mind and mocked me. He holds himself with a certain arrogance cloaked in darkness, and sees himself as a god."
Jie Shan shook his head, his body taken by a certain anger. Lightning crackled across his hands as he clenched them into fists, sparks falling from them.
"That's why I'm so dedicated to my duty," he said with sudden resolve, "to keep darkness like that at bay."
Cervez wasn't surprised that this Jarvis character existed, not even with the mind games or the stuff behind the scenes he liked to put. Though the tidbit about being King of Vegeta surprised him slightly before he schooled his features back to normal. "It's hard to be a king of anything when your planet is nothing but space dust," Cervez said, idly playing with the golden band around his wrist as he shared that information.
Nevertheless, he noticed Jie's spike of anger noticeable by the spark of electricity that danced across his hands, like the calm before the storm type of thing that was dancing inside the man's psyche. He could understand the Kami a little bit better now, so he decided to impart a bit of information with him.
“Godhood is more than a name." Hands behind his back and standing up straight, Cervez began to pace slightly back and forth as he spoke, his deep voice commanding respect and attention.
"It is a condition of being. One does not achieve it merely by being immortal, for even the lowliest laborer in the fields may achieve continuity of existence. Is it then the conditioning of an Aspect? No. Any competent hypnotist can play games with the self-image. Is it the raising up of an Attribute? Of course not. Being a god is the quality of being able to be yourself to such an extent that your passions correspond with the forces of the universe so that those who look upon you know this without hearing your name spoken. Being a god is being able to recognize within one's self these things that are important, and then to strike the single note that brings them into alignment with everything else that exists. Then, beyond morals or logic or esthetics, one is wind or fire, the sea, the mountains, rain, the sun or the stars, the flight of an arrow, the end of a day, the clasp of love. One rules through one's ruling passions. Those who look upon gods then say, without even knowing their names, 'He is Fire. She is Dance. He is Destruction. She is Love.'"
Turning towards Jie, his eyes shone with the restrained power of destruction that made him who he was. "Only those that can achieve this might call themselves Gods, like the Kais. So long as you continue in the path you are now, you'd become the Light that this world needs to keep the Darkness at bay."

Jie Shan caught the reference to Planet Vegeta's destruction and shrugged, as if to say 'fair enough'. It was true, those who called themselves the emperors of Saiyankind had been brought low indeed, ever since tragedy befell both Planet Natto and Vegeta. He had heard it said that the Saiyans were down to a few hundred in number; a small handful of people compared to the numerous legions of Saiyans that had once walked the universe. Thinking back on it, thought Jie Shan, perhaps it was some sort of poetic justice or resolution. The Saiyan race was responsible for centuries of misery and pain, having made it their business for a while. Any one who booked up a book on Saiyans would read the very first and know well enough that the Saiyans were a people of general cruelty and brutality, and their penchant for fighting had seen worlds destroyed and entire races of people wiped out. Given the kings their people had produced, Jie Shan was scarcely surprised when karma had brought them low again.
The Anubian launched into a speech on the nature of godhood, an enlightening topic. Jie Shan listened with rapt interest as the Anubian man spoke. Godhood, he thought, what a lofty thing to aspire to. But as Cervez presented it, it made perfect sense, at least if Jie Shan did not think about it too hard, and he surely would later as he settled himself into one of his meditation sessions, but for now, Jie Shan nodded as the Anubian man spoke. To be so attuned to oneself, he thought, that they became the embodiment of something primal like that. A fascinating prospect, to be sure, the kind of question scholars could spend a lifetime pondering and never really arrive at a satisfactory answer. Jie Shan would have to think on it, he would simply have to.
The man gave Jie Shan a look, and the Kami felt something stir in the pit of his own soul. This was a man who knew what he was talking about, thought Jie Shan. Somehow, Jie Shan just knew that there was truth to Anubian's words.
Plus, Jie Shan could not help but blush a little when Cervez said he had the potential to achieve such an embodiment of Light.
"I appreciate the vote of confidence, Cervez," he said happily, "and that was certainly quite enlightening. You seem to know a lot about this."
Jie Shan cocked his head.
"Who exactly are you, Cervez?" Asked Jie Shan bluntly, "Aside from an Anubian, of course?"WC: 427

Indeed, Jie Shan would need to become the Light this little rock upon the stars needed, even more so with the trails ahead that awaited them. Cervez didn't know why he cared about this planet's fate so much, considering that at some point in the future it would need to go or become anew so the balance would remain in place.
Perhaps it had grown on him, like a clingy limpet you couldn't shake off no matter how hard you tried?
Regardless of the circumstances, Cervez still cared about the fate of the planet, and so long as he continued to care he figured he'd help it just a little bit so it wouldn't disappear like planet Vegeta did by his hand.
He returned back to the present as Jie's words shook him from his thoughts. Locking eyes with the Hybrid, he let a self-deprecating smirk cross his features. "It's what happens when you're as old as me," He was two hundred and fifty years old, even more so if someone counted the years he's been asleep after the balance saw fit to no longer have a need for him.
But then a more important question was brought upon him, one that gave him some pause as he truly thought about who he was.
The fact that he had been awoken hundred of years ago must have meant something in the grand schemes of things, either he was needed once more or someone out there saw fit to give him life again. He dared not think it was the King of All that needed him, while he had his pride he wasn't way over his head with his own hubris that he'd dare to use the name of his King in vain, and much less to feed his own self-importance like that.
All that he could remember was having the power to destroy, to make sure the balance was kept in check, but in the current state that he was now he was a pitiful sight to take care of such matters, no matter how much cathartic destroying planet Vegeta alongside Sinthe had been considering the state it was in, he still had a long way to go before he could deem himself a Destroyer, much less a God of Destruction.
So, really, who was Cervez in reality? An Ex-God of Destruction in the distant past, or just an Anubian who unintentionally thought too high of himself with delusions of grandeur?
He couldn't really say, for certain. But Jie was still waiting for an answer, so he figured he could give the man something to grab onto. "As you know, my name's Cervez..." He spoke, sotto voce. "I can't remember much after waking up from a long slumber, but I do know that my job entailed making sure the balance remained and that nothing shall disturb it." His gaze sharpened suddenly, with the intensity of someone that would rather die than break their oath first. "By any means necessary."

The jackal man responded cryptically, referring his age. Jie Shan frowned and a cocked a silvery eyebrow; just what was the supposed to mean? The man did not look that old to Jie Shan, but he knew well enough that physical appearances did not mean much in terms of gauging age. For example, he knew that a Saiyan was especially hard to place and a full grown one could be anywhere from twenty to seventy, or more. Couple that with the fact that, as far as humanoids went, the zoan man was especially hard to place in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps these Anubians were long lived, like some of the species in the universe were? The Anubian did not offer Jie Shan an explanation, though Jie Shan would not pry.
Instead, the Anubian went into an explanation about his purpose and occupation. Cervez spoke of the balance and his job in preserving, before and, presumably, after his sleep. Jie Shan nodded. He did not understand what this balance met, but Cervez spoke of it with such severity and reverence that Jie Shan thought it important. The man seemed to have quite the depth of wisdom, almost like a sort of sage. But Jie Shan’s curiosity got the best of him.
“I see,” said Jie Shan, “I guess you and I are alike in that way, dedicated to our duties. But, tell me Cervez, what exactly is this balance you are charged with preserving?”

It seems his cryptic comment gave more questions than answers towards the Hybrid, the Anubian refrained from showing how amused he was, yet the twinkle in his eyes probably gave him away. Sometimes it was really nice to hold information over people's head and have them take the bait because they were so damn curious to know the truth.
All beings in the curious had that innate curiosity inside them, they wanted to know something and when it was denied to them they usually took it like it was a slight against them. At least Jie Shan didn't seem that he wanted to pry the issue since he was more focused about what his true job entailed besides just making sure the balance remained.
"Before Creation comes Destruction. Before Life, there is Death. Without Darkness, there cannot be Light. Etc, etc." Cervez rolled his hand around in a circle. "It's a cycle that shouldn't be disturbed no matter what because it could drive the universe into chaos." While he indeed said that Jie Shan should become the Light to push away the Darkness, he never said he'd ultimately destroy it until it couldn't come back.
That was just naive thinking if Jie Shan thought it as such.
"My job is to destroy so that something can be reborn from the ashes," Perhaps he should drop the bomb so that Jie Shan would know how serious he was about such matters. "Planet Vegeta was such a place that needed to be dealt with, considering it was such a waste to have an irradiated planet that couldn't even preserve any sort of life," Except that random Demoness they picked so long ago. "Now that the planet is nothing but space dust, the Kais should get off their asses and create something new, as they're wont to do."

A funny look overtook the Anubian’s eyes, a sort of twinkle that caught Jie Shan’s eye. Jie Shan smirked; what was he in for with the explanation?
Cervez went onto explain this balance. Creation and destruction, life and death, light and darkness. Jie Shan quickly caught on; binary oppositions, he realized. And it seemed that Cervez’s duty was to keep the two in check, so that one did not overtake the other. Jie Shan mused on it; he could appreciate the need for balance, though when they had just established Jarvis as the darkness that plagued the universe, Jie Shan could not help but feel that perhaps balance was not always a good thing. But it was not his place to tell the man who seemed to have so much more wisdom than him.
“I see,” muttered Jie Shan, not presenting his emotions one way or another. But that was before Cervez made his grand reveal: he was involved with the destruction of Planet Vegeta. At this, Jie Shan visibly shook and grimaced, and his Saiyan tail tightened quickly around his waist, coiling like a steel cable. Immediately, a spark fell from Jie Shan’s fingertips, a sudden surge of emotion: worry. While Jie Shan did not approve of the willy nilly destruction of planets, Jie Shan could accept the disposal of waste, like clearing a garden for new crops, though the matter still trouble his mind.
There was a deeper issue here, however, and the Kami had to know the root of it.
“So,” started Jie Shan lightly, “destroying planets is a part of your job, at least on occasion. Might I ask why you’re on Earth right now?”
Jie Shan’s body tensed, ready to slip into Super Saiyan at the drop of a hat if, in some moment of madness, the Anubian revealed that Earth was next on the chopping block.
