"Quotes are a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words."

Earth was home to billions of unique individuals, a single, gorgeous blue marble hovering in space and a sanctuary for many. Not only did the native people of Earth roam its vast lands, but so too did aliens. Strangely and perhaps by divine providence, the planet Earth had become the adopted home of many an alien over the millennia. And these aliens numbered among bloodthirsty Saiyans, mystic Namekians, and more. These aliens made up the ranks of Earth’s greatest heroes and also its most dastardly villains. What about Earth drew those foreign lifeforms to it? It was hard to say, though there was no doubt that Earth proved to be sanctuary for more than its native people.
Jie Shan Lan Dian was one of those aliens who had come to Earth and adopted it as his home. Jie Shan, who was now flying and cutting through the air like a knife wrought of silver, had journeyed to Earth three, nearly four years ago now and had not left since. Originally hailing from the Planet Natto, the young then-Councilor of the Saiyan Alliance had traveled to Earth for a simple vacation. The pressures of Saiyan politics and duty had grown to be too much for him and they had weighed heavily on his mind, body, and soul, driving him from a shining silver of youth to a dull grey.
But it had become so much more than a simple vacation. The greater forces of the universe churned around him once he had gone to Earth, driving him towards his new home and destiny. It had started with Komatsu turning into a raging golden ape, he supposed, but the straws that had broken the camel’s back had been the disgusting evolution of the Saiyan Alliance and it’s Overseer Nasu, one of the two son of the founders of the Alliance. It was these events that had transpired that had pushed Jie Shan to slowly distance himself from the Alliance and eventually cut ties completely. Without a Saiyan home to return to, Jie Shan had simply settled in the north, purchasing a large chunk of land there. And that is where Jie Shan had stayed for the past few years of his life.
And it had proven to be the best decision of his life. Slowly, Jie Shan had moved those he cared about to the north of Earth with him and in time, he built a life in the north. More time passed and soon Jie Shan had made friends with the defenders of Earth, numbering among some of their staunchest allies. And now? Jie Shan fully recognized that he had gone native; Jie Shan considered himself a son of Earth in all but genetics, having comed to love his adopted home. Jie Shan even fancied himself a protector of Earth, a guardian who made it their duty to protect the planet from all those that would do it harm.
Jie Shan finally had a home, and he was not going to let anyone hurt it while he still lived and breathed.
So, it occured to Jie Shan that he ought to finally make it official. And as Jie Shan flew towards the Lookout, that mystical palace in the sky that seemed to be the epicenter of all the forces of good and justice on the planet, he could feel his resolve doubling, tripling. Jie Shan had never felt quite so sure of anything in his life. Recent events and sacrifices proved one thing to Jie Shan: the world needed his help still. Duty, for the first time in his life, presented itself to Jie Shan and never had it been so clear before. People like Galen, Flare, and Chris proved to Jie Shan that Earth was a valiant planet, and it would be an honor to help defend it.
Jie Shan finally landed on the Lookout. The young silver-haired man took a look around: it was dawn and the first rays of light bounced off his body and cast everything in a beautiful glow that whispered sweet promises of a new beginning.
Another set of footsteps touched down behind him: Dou Furu, his oldest and most loyal student. “Jie Shan,” yawned the Earthling, “Are you sure about this? Taking on the responsibility of being guardian to a planet is a big responsibility, you know.”
It was true. It was quite possibly the gravest responsibility Jie Shan could think of. But recent events had lit a fire in Jie Shan’s heart. Jie Shan wanted to nothing more than to be guardian, to be Kami. It was his way of repaying the planet that had shown him nothing but kindness, a bright chapter in his life that had been, up until that point, marred and defined by myriad shadows and piercing pains.
“Dou Furu,” said Jie Shan with a solemness that had never entered his voice before, “I’ve never been so sure of anything else before in my life. I want to protect this planet. Not only is it your home, but now it is my home. And with the recent disappearance of Arion, the last Kami, I feel it is my duty to Earth.”
Dou Furu said nothing as Jie Shan crossed to circled edge of the Lookout and peered over the rim of it. Jie Shan looked down and saw naught but clouds and was met with little but a warm morning wind that tussled his silvery hair and the fur neckline of his jacket. It smelled like dew, fresh, and brought a certain tingle to his spine. The brown hairs on his Saiyan tail stood on end with elation. It made everything feel a little bit lighter, event the steel longsword that say heavy against his back.
“So,” said Dou Furu suddenly, “How exactly are you supposed to go about becoming this. . . Kami. I admit, it’s strange to think that Kami is simply a mortal with a title.”
That sudden realization struck Jie Shan suddenly, like an anvil dropping out of the sky and onto his head. Now there was something he had not considered. How did someone become Kami? Somehow, Jie Shan had never thought to ask.
“Erm,” muttered Jie Shan as his tail stood out straight in shock, “Nevermind that! Let’s just get down to business. . . We’ll figure that out as we go along!”
Perhaps the hybrid ought to ask Galen for help next time he saw him. Which, hopefully, would be soon.
“Hey Galen,” he thought, “Don’t know if you’re awake down there, but I need you to come on up to the Lookout if you can. Arion’s gone and I intend to take on his duties. Could use some help figuring stuff out.”
With that, Jie Shan turned to face Dou Furu. “Well,” said Jie Shan, “Now all we can really do is wait while I figure stuff out.”
In truth, Jie Shan was nervous, and dreadfully so. He was entering into a new chapter in his life and Jie Shan wanted to do it right. Not only for himself, but Jie Shan also wanted to do right by Earth. He owed Earth and its people that much for all the kindness that it had showed him.
It was quite humbling. Harrowing even. Jie Shan sat in silence with his own thoughts, recounting the events that had occurred days before: his encounter with fallen Caesar. It was. . . a sad moment to reflect on. It only bolstered his resolve and at times Jie Shan was capable of putting on that illusory veil of bravado, at his core, it still stung him greatly and he had not yet fully recovered from the pain that had been inflicted upon him.
And Jie Shan knew he was stupid and selfish, that Flare had been subjected to much worse, but damn it! Jie Shan hurt. The one tiny symbol of love, the most precious possession to Jie Shan, was nothing but a plaything to such monsters.
And that is what brought Jie Shan to the Lookout, at least partially. Jie Shan did not want anyone to experience such pain, not if he could help it. Not the pain that Flare felt, not the pain that Jie Shan felt, not the pain that Caesar and Nasu and their kind inflicted upon the universe.
Jie Shan just wanted to make thing right. And this was the best way he could do it. This, he thought, was his duty and the burden he wanted to take on. Jie Shan shot a quick, sneaking glance at Dou Furu as his apprentice idled nearby, waiting for the events of the day to commence.
To this day, it shocked Jie Shan that people believed in him and put trust in him in anyway. The hybrid did not believe he deserved such kindness, such warmness. No, Jie Shan wallowed in filth and his sins weighed heavily on him, the various nightmares and phantoms haunting his mind.
Today would be the first step Jie Shan took into proving himself a true hero.
Alright, Jie is claiming Kami. Standard claim rules still apply. For those interested in how this is coming about so suddenly: this transition was originally going to be longer and more played out with Arion, but OOC circumstances mean that I had to advance. I have Arion's permission with statements made about his character.

"Are you sure you want to confront this Kami person, Lord Cervez?" Samael looked towards his Lord, the Anubian's back to him as the dark-purple furred jackal overlooked the outside of the Martial Arts School courtyard from the balcony of the temple.
"Yes, the time is nigh. I've delayed this meeting for far too long. I should have been more stern back then but with everyone congratulating the previous Kami's Assistant and with the appearance of the Kaioshin the meeting was delayed. But now, I won't let anything stop me from acquiring the answers that I want, not even if that measly Kaioshin dares to poke his nose where it doesn't belong." His fist tightened behind his back, his posture almost ramrods straight as his eyes hardened towards the blue skies on the horizon.
"But what if they don't have the answers you seek?" It was a fair question, one that made the Demon wonder what his Lord would do if this Kami person didn't have the answers his Master was looking for. Cervez stood silent for a few seconds before shrugging his shoulders. "I'll burn that bridge once we come to it. First and foremost, we're heading out now. Unless..." Turning towards his vassal, the two of them shared a quiet moment of merely staring at each other, one with a serious expression that spoke of his resolve and seriousness and the other with a questioning yet unwavering look.
"You plan to stop me?" The voice was almost a quiet murmur, yet it held a threat to its tone as wisps of purple energy licked at the Anubian's shoulders yet he made no motion of looking threatening besides that. Samael merely snorted. "Like I'd be able to stop you when you're determined about doing something. I've known you for about four months and in that time I've managed to figure out some of your quirks."
"As you should, I'd not have a mere vassal that merely follows me around at my beg and call without even knowing nothing about me." Brushing a stray piece of lint out of his attire, the Anubian marched out of the balcony and down to the common room, past the foyer and outside the temple; the sandy-furred demonic wolf following closely behind him. Though before they had to leave, Cervez was quick to take a deep breath and announce to the temple at large, just to make sure that his fellow Anubian, if he was still skulking around, managed to hear and follow if he so wished.
"SINTHE! I'M HEADING OUT TO MEET THE KAMI. IF YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT THEN FOLLOW MY ENERGY!"
Samael felt a bead of sweat trail down the side of his face as that shout reverberated throughout the whole building, but it did the job of at least giving Lord Sinthe a heads up for their disappearance. Soon enough, Lord and Vassal were flying through the skies towards the direction where the lookout was located, Cervez at least having the decency of suppressing his power-level so as to not scare the residents of the lookout in the chance they thought they were being attacked by something or someone.
The wind rushed strongly against their fur as they ascended towards the clouds, rushing to reach the high bowl-shaped building at the top of the pillar. With a whistling sound, their two forms passed the rim of the lookout and kept going, but stopped before they could get too far. Looking down at the building, he rose an eyeridge at the silver-haired male figure he could see standing on the tiles of the lookout, and he wasn't alone judging by the companion he had with him.
Softly, he descended down towards the ground, his feet touching the tiles silently, hands behind his back as he observed the unfamiliar face in front of him; Samael standing two feet behind and to the right of him doing the same with the expression you'd see on a curious puppy. "Greeting, the name's Cervez, and the big dog standing behind me is my loyal vassal, Samael. Would you be so kind as to direct me towards the Kami? You see, he and I are in for a long overdue conversation."
[OOC: Jarvis isn't truly present atm. An isn't in the order as only posting once. He's using his telepathy and mental powers to poke into Jie's head a little. But his power would still be sticking out on earth but is moving around allot.]
The presence of beings on one of the most watched places on the blue orb could easily raise the brows of anyone of note. He kept his tendrils hidden at first as the weaseled in those weak enough to be unable to detect him. Avoiding the urge to allow them the gracious honor of being even mentally violated by the royal god Caesar. It only took several moments to piece together events with some light poking around. Jarvis thinking carefully on this as all his thoughts pooled in a mental link towards Jie as if a ghost within his mind hidden for a moment.
Jarvis chewed softly where his body sat. Chuckling lightly as he swallowed the strange but oddly addicting food of earth. Lifting the strawed beverage to his lips in the paper cup as he eyed the smaller less clean human across the table from him. He'd kept silent for long enough to set up... a little display. He'd finish part of his food before putting a fry to his lips and finally whisperig out just briefly. Trying to time it just right to disturb any response to those meeting Jie at the moment. Perhaps to cut his words short to give them something to feel something was wrong.
'So now it makes more sense why I felt no Kami yet again. Truly a glutton for sacrifice to take on such a roll. I'd ask you to tell me this story of why you'd do this after recent events but I'll save that 'request' for another day when I seek enjoyment. Just remember... While protecting this planet may be a Kami's job. Do not forget... Some threats are best kept away with respect and bending your knee. Otherwise...'
As if looking through his own eyes briefly he'd show a glimpse of a small earth restaurant. Before Jarvis was other tables with families enjoying a day without the slightest idea who sat near them. How close they were to an easy end. This as well was just one of thousands if not more places of the like all over this planet. But what was more... Across from Jarvis sat a small youth dirty as well with torn clothes. Clearly someone of low means if not without a home entirely. Eating and devouring heavily the meal placed before him at the god kings table. It wouldn't take long to realize that it was looking through the god kings eyes.
'The sacrifice might not be your own to bare. Never show your weaknesses kid... When you finish this and your officially this leader of the people. I'll be waiting... Don't disappoint me. Oh and by the way, I love the clothes.' He'd raise his hand and cover his face it seemed with something perhaps showing he may remain on earth a bit longer. Then raise his palm as a glowing orb began to form. Being so far away a weak blast would have been hard to sense. The energy in his hand beginning to twist with black energy. 'Enjoy your day... Kami.' Some screamed after a moment of watching some watched in awe unsure what was happening as others ran. Earth had learned enough to know such powers were dangerous and to expect the worst of this moment. Plus with a little demon magic Jarvis was able to create his dark aura to be more visible to those around him as well. The image cut out just as the light became its brightest. Hiding what would have happened after to Jie.
Moments later before Jie on the lookout would appear a glowing circle of golden energy. Linked to the God kings vault hidden within its own dimension. A letter with a location written inside somewhere above the oceans in a place cursed by demons long ago. The place Jarvis used the dragon balls. The sky burned red as well as a place most felt sick to even visit. The location was all that was written with a picture of jie's sword burned into the paper. Perhaps implying even more reason to come when this meeting was done. Under the sealed letter was a small box as well housing one of the earthling double cheeseburgers with all the fixings as well. One that Jarvis had taken some liking too. --- Jarvis rose to leave his seat... The small boy still eating. Perhaps... not all his memories after the point he'd covered his face were genuine. He'd rise and walk by the hungry child with a little mental poking had been missing for a week. Lost in the city and lucky truly to be alive. He cared more about the food on the table then the man that procured who was leaving. In the time that the he spoke to Jie his mind had searched elsewhere as well. As he left two older adults a couple ran in. Rushing to the child after a little careful uses of mental control had a informant call in about their childs whereabouts. He smiled as he left the building holding the paper cup to his lips to finish of the soda within it. It was't important truly that they actually died for the message. It was simply important the message was clear. These stores were all over the world and in moments Jarvis would be on the move again. Making it vastly difficult to pin point where he'd truly been. One small fire or explosion could be given so many reasons for its happening. Chances are thy'd find some natural accident if they went looking someplace else then this still standing establishment first in a inquiry. An with that he was gone where he stood. Exploring and popping around the glob often searching for several things that interested him. Although soon he'd be waiting... The Kami would know where to find him.

"I can't sense him... that makes me even more uneasy..." Komatsu grumbled in frustration as he landed the Stargazer behind Flare's mansion. This place was really the only one he knew where he could trust those around his ship. Auntie and the maids had been nothing but helpful in the past and they were always loyal to Flare, and so in turn he trusted them.
Whenever he and Chris landed on the blue orb, everything seemed... normal, and intact but that feeling of foreboding was pressing heavily against his chest. Damn it, he knew he was here, but he had no idea where... He took in a deep breath to steel his nerves, pushing his power level down even farther so that no one could sense him who didn't already recognize his ki immediately.
He first made his way to Flare's mansion where he met up with Auntie who assured him that Flare hadn't been home in some time... that meant she was either still facing Jarvis or else something else happened.... He really had to calm himself down, if she had been in that much trouble she would have told him... no Jarvis liked to play his games, he hadn't ended it just yet.
"Right... I guess that leaves the lookout then... ready?" He asked of his cousin as Komatsu would finally take to the sky, soaring towards the lookout at an incredible pace! Though he was never fast enough to leave Chris behind. NO matter how worried he was about Flare, he couldn't leave Chris alone knowing Jarvis was around here somewhere...
As they flew closer and closer to the lookout, Komatsu's eyes narrowed as he felt a presence he hadn't sensed in quite some time. His hand clenched into a fist as he grit his teeth... What the hell was HE doing here?! That good for nothing deserter... of all places he had been on Earth the entire time? content to let his own people die at Jarvis' hands but now he was being chummy on the lookout?? He knew Jie Shan wasn't his reason for being here.... but ohoooohohoho did he have a bone to pick.
They finally arrived on the lookout and Komatsu landed on it's edge, sucking in a deep breath to suppress his anger and preventing himself from lunging at Jie Shan and punching him square in the nose... oh how he wanted to do just that! but then if he did... then he hadn't changed at all, no matter how much he claimed otherwise... They arrived just in time to hear Jie Shan speaking to a human man about how it was his new duty to protect earth, and Komatsu's eye twitched as he kept silent and kept his power level low. Jie could sense him of course, but might not recognize him right away until Komatsu was in his field of vision.
"You're duty to Earth hunh? You sure you should be giving any planet your loyalty deserter? Honestly, as an ally to the planet, I don't think you have ANY place up here." He said coldly, attacking Jie with his words more so than his fists...
From within the refines of the Lookout the very faint traces of energy radiated off a familiar person, to some. That was the good deal of the reason why Komatsu and the likes wouldn't have felt the reading like they should have. Alongside the flickering flame were those of her companions she had been seen with as of recently. A couple stronger individuals that hadn't shown their faces to most of the now encroaching powered that were brought up onto the lookout.
Flare flinched in her cushioned seat as familiar and alien powers invaded her senses.
"..." Ragnarok was just over her shoulder, adjusting a robe he put around her body as she relaxed. Unda was in front of her, massaging her lower torso with a water bathe that held a small blue glow. It wasn't much but it seemed to help ease whatever injuries the boy was attending to. Jax already did her part by the looks of it, just watching over her creator with a cold robotic gaze. Her coat was most of what she had on besides the now large robe covering most of her body. Bandages surround her entire torso and part of her face, shrouded mostly when she pulls the robe over herself entirely. All that popped was her head and a little leg.
"I can go see what's happening outside. Unless you want to show yourself like this to them." Ragnarok offered with his arms crossed, stepping out from Flare's side and up next to Unda. He looked at her for a moment with her blank, squinted gaze shooting back at him. He was about ready to just turn and go out for her but... she leaned forward and grabbed at his arm before he could do so much as turn. In another motion she started yanking herself up with a groan of pain. Unda and Ragnarok both went ahead and propped the flickering flame up to her feet.
"No. They need this, to see me." Jax looked at the only other people who could guide her in assisting with her creator's state. The group entirely wondered how or why she'd put herself through all of this. With further hesitance the idling robot eventually nodded at Flare and kept her head high for the moment. They'd all have to keep quiet, tread lightly. For they knew exactly what happened.
The quad squad slowly made their own way out from the deeper rooms of the lookout, the flickering flame keeping the robes clutched against her form. She was the first to step down the small stairs of the building, all but her face shrouded in this brown robe she had put around her. Kerbi slinked out from behind one of the columns and jumped almost perfectly into line next to the incoming Ragnarok and Jax as well. The Prince himself being left a bit behind. A rather rainbow colored bunch, but they had been up here as a presence before now. What was strange was the fact the fire lady kept her own strength down to a minimum.
"Whoa, what a crowd. Seems like people just keep coming and going. You'd think after the blue haired guy we'd stop- OI!" While there was no verbal anger to the chirp pink-haired boy most around would see his pretty hair lit afire without the notion of where it had come from. He took precious little time patting his pretty little hair out before it came unto cinder. It wasn't just the aggravating man child demon she had to deal with but the fact that this gathering was a mash of people. Flare wasn't exactly walking out here, expecting Komatsu to be down Jie's throat. She wasn't exactly here for the whole thing, to ponder why Komatsu was doing so. Oh, and how could she forget these larger than average humanoid dogs demanding to speak to the Kami! Flare quietly looked between all of them with a certain caustic gaze.
He had been following Komatsu this whole time towards the lookout, from meeting Flare's Auntie and feeling for a temptness in the ki of the planet, he did recognize one in particular...Jarvis, his ki was on earth and moving fast. As much as he wanted to act, Chris knew. It was no use. He just had to hope Jarvis wouldn't do anything...in fact he actually had begun to notice a pattern, everywhere Jarvis had sent a major attack so far. It had never been somewhere directly to attack Earth, it was always the Saiyans he attacked...was there some connection? Was it possible King Kai had been wrong and that maybe there was still a portion of the original Jarvis still left in that corrupted mind? It was a guess, but it was a guess he still had hope on. Anything to avoid more unnecessary death. Truly he was willing to give anything to stop such. These people were his family, the people of earth, the people of the universe..he loved them all, they made him who he was and they all gave him strength in some way.
Once they had arrived onto the lookout, Chris was quick to recognize two figures, Cervez and Jie Shan. "Jie! We're back buddy!" Chris would shout out to his friend with a smirk on his face. However Komatsu was quick to get offensive towards Jie, Chris wasn't going to take this, the last thing they needed was for them all to be fighting between each other. Chris began to speak in a truly serious tone, one he rarely took, but one he was known to have when he was truly displeased with someone. "Well I think he does, and as a member of the X Fighters, I think he's the perfect role for it Komatsu." Chris would say purposely using his cousin's actual name instead of just cousin, a clear sign to his cousin not to push it. A clear sign that he was on a very dangerous edge. "You may be an ally to Earth cousin but I think my vote outweighs yours a bit, this is my home. In fact this has been Jie's home for a long time now as well." Chris would say with tenseness in his voice. He did recognize the low low ki of Flare but the moment right now wasn't good to make true note of it fully. He turned towards Cervez, remembering him from the incident on Namek. "Pleasure to see you again Cervez, I trust Sinthe is nearby as well?" Chris would simply ask before moving to look back towards Jie. "Well I definitely give my vote to Jie, I think he would fit the role perfectly. Don't you agree...Flare?" Chris would say the last bit out loud. Having sensed the small but familiar ki here on the lookout. He could forget a friend after all. 'Is everything okay? Komatsu gave me the rundown on our way back here...are you okay?' Chris would send with telepathy only to Flare if she would accept the message. He had been in combat against Jarvis before, God Damn he knew the mental games that were always played. He hopes that Flare hadn't receive too horribly of them.
There was a certain nervous tension in the air as Sinthe lay sprawled out in the sun beneath the eaves of his erstwhile companion’s rather tastefully appointed School. A certain anxious buzzing permeated the air as if it itself knew that something great was soon to be afoot. Or it might have just been a sugar rush. He had no notion of what kind of teacher his fellow Anubian was or would be, but he had to admit that he was a wholly exceptional host. Just as soon as Sinthe could clear out this fridge or that pantry Samael would fill it right back up again. It was having discovered yet another promptly replenished stock that he happened to hear his companion in Destruction heading out… well deaf men on the other side of the planet probably heard as well.
Kami? So there was one? And they even seemed to have an appointment. Yippee.
Not wanting to go bounding after him like Samael, Sinthe loitered a while longer before finally rising from his basking spot. The trail was easy enough to pick up, he was familiar enough with the powers he was following that they might as well have left him a trail of gumdrops or… actually that sounded pretty good. He’d need to have a word with the Demon Dog.
Alighting the Lookout not long after them he found it in a state of considerably more bustle than he had last time, but it seemed alas as though it would prove to be no more useful since the debate unfolding seemed to be regarding the selection of a new Guardian. Hanging back a while longer Sinthe chugged the remains of his last soda before, for want of anything better to do with it, tossing it over his shoulder and flicking it over the edge with his tail. And just in time as well, he’d found an opportune moment to cut in it seemed.
’Voting has nothing to do with it,’ Sinthe asserted as he approached, he didn’t know about Earth so much, but Gods were sort of his whole wheelhouse and Guardians fell under that umbrella as well. So even though he might have been dwarfed on all sides by powers which readily outstripped him he spoke with poise and conviction since, as far as he knew, he was the only one present who had any notion of what he was talking about. It probably helped to have Cervez and his puppy on hand as well, but that was a whole other thing. ’You are either worthy of the throne of Kami or you are not.’ The ultimatum was simple enough and yet it held a level of moral complexity which was not at first apparent, such was ever the way with the Upper Worlds and all of those beholden to them, something he himself had chaffed against for centuries.
’Men like yourself,’ he addressed Chris directly now, though only offering him a sideways glance as he did, not knowing how any of the others might react to his strange and sudden appearance. ’Men who cloak themselves in the sackcloth of justice are seldom the most dependable given power, for my part I always wonder what it is that they seek to hide.’ Though his words were indeed harsh there was no overt sense of chastisement in them, he could not fault someone for being the way they were, unfettered freedom was sort of his thing, in that same spirit he only spoke as he saw things. As a resident of Earth albeit a short-lived and likely temporary one he could do nothing less on its behalf. ’I rarely need to wait long for it to show through in… let us say “ugly” ways. But that leaves us with you.’
Finally his eyes fell squarely on the nub of the issue, the sticking point of why they all were here no matter the individual tracks which had carried them hither, Jie Shan. ’I know you to be strong, but strength is not enough. It is never enough. In all honesty can you dedicate yourself unfailingly to this world? To the exclusion and likely the detriment of all others until the end of your days?’ He smiled of all things, as though he knew already the answer… perhaps he did, perhaps he just enjoyed the sound of his own voice. ’Or can you not?’

A hell of a lot happened, like so many raindrops falling from a sudden storm, a typhoon seemingly opening up out of nowhere over the Lookout. Several individuals- some familiar and some not- crawled out of the woodwork and scrambled to the top of the Look, convening on Jie Shan, like strays strands of lightning drawn to a metal rod. Jie Shan knew no peace, neither physical nor mental. Sweat began to bead at his brow, and he grimaced as several powerful beings streamed towards him, each bleeping onto his radar. It was like a serious of firecrackers going off the in the back of his mind.
Apparently, Jie Shan had not gotten the word about the party that was being held on the Lookout today.
The first to arrive, by his measure, was a strange dog-like man who demanded to speak to Kami. And Jie Shan would have loved to explain to him the circumstances. In another world, thought Jie Shan, he and the beast-fellow would have sat down and had a lovely conversation about just what was going on, the status of the Kami position, and what Jie Shan could do to help him. Of course, that was mere wishful thinking conjured up by a stressed mind starting to resent the sudden influx of guests.
Said mind, of course, was now under assault by some terrible beast not even present: Caesar. Jie Shan shook and he felt a slight, slippery peel of electricity run over his hair and scalp, a tingling feeling like he had just liked a battery. But instead of the charged acid of a copper cell, it was the Elemi blood in his veins: this Caesar made him sick and it bothered the would-be Kami greatly to know that Caesar was capable of beaming messages into his mind, like a phone number he could not block. Shining gold in front of him, that fool's gold box appeared and taunted Jie Shan, showing him images of days past. Jie Shan felt the urge to spit as the man extended what seemed like a taunting invitation, but he stoppered that vile saliva in his mouth. Not in front of guests, he thought.
There would be plenty of time to spit later. This Caesar and Jie Shan had plenty of unfinished business together. Jie Shan was thinking up some words for the man, some plan of action, but there would be time for that later. Jie Shan could not allow the mad king to distract him from his purpose for today. Should all go smoothly, thought the soured hybrid, his duty would take him to the black monarch.
Next was a familiar signature, two in-fact, unfortunately. It seemed. . . odd, at least at first, but a sinking feeling seeped down into the marshy parts of his soul when the wires in his mind finally met and sparks jumped from it as memories sparkled like live wires. Perhaps he was mistaken. Jie Shan was not perfect, not by means, and was just as vulnerable to the mortal, fleshy weaknesses of a leaky memory and faulty feelings. If he were lucky. . .
But of course, fortune was very rarely on the side of the Saiyan-blooded lightning warrior. Fate was a cruel mistress, and one of the very few that had scorned Jie Shan, having turned a cold shoulder to Jie Shan from his birth. The hybrid, however, was never one to cower in the face of one's own kismet.
The dreaded Komatsu arrived onto the scene. The very same brother of the latest crazed tyrant in the universe and the same Komatsu he had once battled at the behest of a Nasu who had been much saner once upon a time. Jie Shan scoffed at the notion. Perhaps the warning signs had been there from the beginning. . .
Before Jie Shan could say anything at all, Komatsu flew to his face, shouting at him, barking even. Deserter this, no place that. Komatsu was angry.
And Jie Shan was always good at noticing the obvious.
Jie Shan stared hard at Komatsu, his dark Saiyan orbs meeting Komatsu's. A fired burned into the pit of those eyes, eyes built of everything combustible. Coal, dark, rich oil of the earth. . . There was little sign of rationality, at least in Jie Shan's understanding of such fury. His mind struggled for a response, dully aware of new arrivals on the scene, ones that he had missed before. Some of the people from Flare's group, he thought.
Flare's group.
Flare.
Jie Shan winced and nearly shed a tear.
Were it not for the sudden intervention of Chris, who had arrived with Komatsu, Jie Shan might have cracked. But the presence of the odd duck Earthling Saiyan boy was enough to snap Jie Shan back to hard foundations. Jie Shan looked past Komatsu for a moment and nodded his thanks to his friend; Jie Shan was awfully glad to have Chris here, a relief Jie Shan had not felt since. . . forever, in fact. Was that how sad is life was? To never know peace of mind?
And one more arrival, thought Jie Shan. Was there anyone else on the guest list that he did not know about? Funnily enough, this one was familiar as well: the strange cat-man who Jie Shan had run across in the South. Now what was he doing here? He probably locked onto Jie Shan's ki signature, grumbled the hybrid mentally. Perhaps he ought to have suppressed his power this morning? Things did not seem to be going well.
But the cat-man mused on the nature of justice and the men who champion such causes, leveling some criticism at Chris. Who did not, not truly, deserve it. Jie Shan knew well enought that Chris was a good fellow, one of the few Jie Shan had both a liking for and a respect for. Few people could claim to number upon that list, though it seemed these days that few people were clamoring for the elusive spots on that exclusionary club.
But even then, Jie Shan could not claim that Sinthe was wrong; quite the opposite. Jie Shan had seen enough of the universe to know that Sinthe was very right, as unfortunate as that might be.
That was that.
Jie Shan looked around: no Galen. Funny how the one person he actually invited had not arrived yet and the Earthling only lived on the next floor down. Boy, thought Jie Shan, was Galen in for a rude awakening.
Jie Shan had already suffered one or two of those. The first was that encounter with Jarvis. The second was the sudden explosion of people on the Lookout. Could nothing ever go right for Jie Shan? Perish the thought, lest he bring more misfortune upon his own head.
"Jie Shan," said Dou Furu, suddenly appearing behind his master, "Are you alright?"
A breath, a blink.
"Yes. I am fine."
His eyes quickly swiveled around the Lookout. This is not what he had expected at all. Jie Shan had just wanted. . . he had just wanted to help. But everyone seemed so set at questioning him at each turn. There was always a new set of obstacles, no matter where Jie Shan went, no matter which avenue he seemed to try and pursue his happiness down.
But Jie Shan was used to such roadblocks.
Clearing his throat, Jie Shan stepped back from Komatsu.
"Thank you, Chris," he said quietly, "But I think it is best I speak for myself. Our feline friend has a point, after all."
Another breath.
"More over," he said much more loudly, as if he were addressing an audience, "I suppose ought to greet each of you. I am sure you all have a lot of questions."
Carefully chosen words, a skill honed by time spent as Councilor. Who said politic maneuvering was a useless skill?
"There seems to be some controversy. Let me start from the top: I am Jie Shan Lan Dian, for those of you whom I have not introduced myself too politely and properly, and I intend to become Kami of this planet so that I might act as guardian. The previous Kami, Arion the Namekian, has gone missing. Rather than let these duties go unfulfilled, I want to take up the responsibility myself. These are the facts and circumstances, not the justification."
Deep breathes, he told himself, else his heart might explode. His chest felt a lot tighter, as if someone had wrapped it in cling wrap. A thoroughly unfortunate feeling, and one that arrived at a most inopportune moment.
A sudden stinging welled up in his eyes as Jie Shan looked directly at Komatsu. No tears now, he commanded himself. But who knew if his body was wont to follow orders.
Jie Shan swallowed hard. Something worked its way back up and a dull feeling of numb spread over his brain.
"Before I get into that, I feel I should- no, I feel that I need to address what Komatsu has said," he said with a shaky sigh, "You see, Komatsu is not wrong. He is quite right, in fact, and I am deeply ashamed to admit it. 'Deserter' is correct. Heh, that's putting it kindly. Yes, I admit that I left the Saiyan Alliance and abandoned my duty to those people so that I might take up what amounted to a glorified vacation on Earth. At the time, it seemed the right thing to do. Darkness was already starting to rise there, and I had wanted nothing to do with it. But instead of taking a stand, I quietly slinked away like a coward."
More stinging in his eyes.
"Coward, deserter, scum," continued Jie Shan, "All of these words apply to me and I am certain more could be dredged up if I put my mind to it."
Another breath and his voice came back, even shakier this time. "In truth," he said, "I have done wrong by people and by justice. On Planet Natto, I was one of the earliest supporters of Nasu, having helped overthrow Etorin so that Nasu might become Overseer. And I was. . . rewarded for such service. A few months later and I saw myself promoted again, this time to Councilor. At personal cost to Komatsu, of course. But I gave that up for Earth. But at what cost? Years later and we have how many tyrants running amok in this universe, staining stars the color of blood?"
A single tear slid slowly from the left eye.
"Though inability and inaction, I stood idly by and allow various monsters to assume positions of power in the universe. I should not have done that," he choked out, "I should have taken a stand and fought when the time was right. Hell, I'm at least partially responsible for the biggest problem in the universe right now. If I had done something years ago, I- I, I don't know. But now? But now, there is blood on my hands. I might not have drawn such blood, but I am guilty and stained by it all the same. Each innocent death I am in part responsible for. I have no illusions that good people died while I was living at ease on Earth."
Jie Shan trembled and pointed at Komatsu. "You say I have no place here," he said, "I might take it a step further and say I have no place in this life, in this world. I deserve the noose. Be it by my own hand or another."
Sweet hempen angel, he thought, draw tight around him as the dark brown bristles of rope caressed his neck and slow delivered him down into the eternal slumber.
Jie Shan had considered at some points before. Small moments of weakness, where he felt it better to succumb than to go on. His whole life had been placed on a collision course towards some inglorious end ever since his father had first steered him onto that path. Delaying the inevitable, only momentarily keeping the demons locked away in a nice little cage in the back of his mind.
But they bayed for blood. His blood.
Perhaps Jie Shan ought give it to them. It would be his small means of repayment to the other lives lost in the universe.
Tears came freely now.
"But I want to atone," he said, his voice harsh and labored.
"A few days passed, I once again encountered that monster known as Caesar. He brought suffering with him, from whatever hell he crawled out of. I did not get the worst of it, not by far. Funny how once again the coward escapes mostly unscathed. But a fine, brave woman suffered when she ought not have."
"I do not want to see such suffering again."
"While this might seem sad, pathetic, and make me look like less of a man than I did before, I want to redeem myself," said Jie Shan solemnly, "I want to do right by the people. This planet. . . it has shown me a kindness I have never known before in my life. I finally feel like I have a home, that I am no longer a stranger in my own skin. I want to show this planet the kindness it has shown me. Even if I need to give my own life for it."
Jie Shan paused a moment. "And I don't want to stop there. I want to stand shoulder to shoulder with real heroes. Like Chris, Flare, and. . . and even you, Komatsu. You who fought when I did not. I admit now that between the two of us, you've been in the right this entire time. I am not going to run away or sit idle while there still some measure of evil in the universe. "
Jie Shan stepped forward, closer to Komatsu.
"I am not running away anymore," he said quietly, "I will bear my sins and hope that one day I can prove I am worthy of some small measure of respect, if I have not already soiled my hands too much."
Jie Shan looked blankly at Komatsu. "Do what you must, Komatsu," he said quietly, "Even if that means dealing the ultimate justice to me."
Jie Shan’s voice touched Galen’s mind all of sudden again and that made him surprised yet happy. He was summoning the human to the Timeless Lookout, informing him Arion was gone and that he would be assuming his duties. Even though the information didn’t catch him entirely by surprise, he was still saddened by the fact that the namekian was gone so shortly after he had come back to his rightful place. The news of another Kami made him sigh in grief, but if he was to be honest, he was happy that Jie Shan would be the one inheriting the mantle of the Guardian of the planet: he had the right heart and he was strong and wise, a combination that would make him a far better guardian than Atsuko was, even though he wouldn’t be able to compare to Arion just yet. ”I see, Mister Jie. I will be on my way. I’m a bit far away now, but I will be there as soon as I can.” he replied through his mind, knowing his telepathy would be allowing him to get the message.
Galen had been training hard and was currently on the Southern Islands, trying to perfect his turtle school, which was being quite hard; the final tier of the teachings required quite a lot of physical condition as well as a masterful ki control, the later in which Galen was still lacking. In any case, his training would have to be halted for the time being and, without further delay, he flew high up into the skies and scratched it with his light blue ki aura, as he used his top speed to reach the mystical place that was the residence of the Guardian of the planet. His haste wasn’t solely based on Jie Shan’s summoning, but he was also feeling quite unease, especially because he had senses some absurdly high power levels also approaching the place and, by the looks of it, they would be arriving sooner than the Tower Keeper. ”One of them is most definitely Chris, but the others? I’m not so familiar with their energy signature, even though I’m sure I’ve sensed them before.” he thought to himself, concerned.
The human didn’t arrive in time to hear what the others had to say, but he did arrive in time to hear Jie Shan’s speech and, once he landed on the titled floor of that wondrous place, he just stood there and listened. It was enough for him to understand that Komatsu may have accused him of something rather serious and that made Galen frown his brows, slightly irritated with the saiyan boy with an absurd energy within his core. Still, it was interesting to hear Jie Shan’s own tale spoken by yours truly and Galen was quite surprised with just how much he had been through. Again, he was feeling small in face of the accomplishment of his saiyan friends and that was something rather embarrassing and thus he scratched the back of his neck.
But it bothered him when Jie Shan began to say that he had no place and Galen was about to step up and go against those words, when he finally changed the tone and said he would be atoning. As he continued to speak, his words made Galen smile and he felt a comfortable and warm fired inside his heart and in Jie Shan a person he could follow; he was flawed, like many of them were and, yet, he was willing to put others before himself, and in Galen’s eyes, that was what a true leader, a true Guardian should be doing. When he finally finished, Galen saw the opportunity to step up and he did so by flying for a bit and landing in front of Jie Shan, and in between him and Komatsu, with his back towards the saiyan.
He had an honest smile on his face and as he stared his friend, he chuckled a bit. ”Seems like you are always one step ahead of me. In knowledge, in skill, in power… And now in rank too, Kami.” he simply said, with his gentle tone, already recognizing him as the new Guardian of the Planet. Then, he stared back towards Komatsu and the others, with a resolute expression on his face. ”I see some known faces here… I see a friend.” he paused, staring at Chris. ”Acquaintances.” and his eyes stared at Cervez. ”And others I’m not yet sure.” and he stared at Sinthe, Flare and finally Komatsu again.
”I hope we can all be friends in the future. Hearts as one, beating in the same rhythm and with a single goal in mind: peace.” he said, taking a deep breath before continuing. ”For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Galen. I’m the Keeper of Korin’s Tower, and the Gate Keeper of this Timeless Lookout. My duty is to act as both a protector and councilor of this place. I’m also a human, a complete and ordinary human, the most mundane product of this world called Earth.” he sighed. ”I have no great accomplishments like most of you powerful beings have. I have no stories to tell about myself other than the daily lives of the common folk, of my fellow villagers from the East, and the noble and brave Karinga tribe I’m in duty to protect. And one thing I can say for them: they don’t care about much. They just want to live their lives in peace and prosperity, without wars, without greed.” Galen smile’s widened. ”We don’t care who you are, where you come from. We are a welcoming planet. If you want to be here, be one of us, you are welcome. But once you become one of us, you are kin and we will protect you. So… Mister Jie Shan is replacing Master Arion, and becoming Kami. And I, as the one who currently holds authority over this place, approve it. Please respect this and let’s be friends.” and with those words, he made a brief and polite bow to the people around them.

Well if the tension couldn't be cut with a knife, then he wasn't an Anubian. Seriously, the tension hanging in the air was so palpable it was almost suffocating. On one side there was Komatsu, the Saiyan he had met almost a year ago back with Gouken, right now he was vastly stronger than before that it was almost staggering the difference in power from back then. Then there was the appearance of Chris, the Saiyan he had fought back on Namek because of certain circumstances. "He's around, yeah. He'll be with us soon." He said cryptically, sotto voce.
As he waited for his fellow Anubian to arrive he took another look around the lookout, spotting someone that he had never met accompanied with what seemed like an escort of other individuals. His brow almost rose as he felt a certain energy coming from them, but especially from the beautiful auburn haired woman leading the charge, all but her face blocked by the robe she was wearing, but from the bandages that he could see around her head it seemed she had sustained some sort of injury.
Samael also noticed, and as the tension seemed to reach a new height with this Jie Shan and that Komatsu fellow, he approached the woman with tentative steps, a concerned expression upon his bestial features. "Excuse me Miss but, are you alright? Do you need healing?" He asked Flare; the part of his soul that was made with the honorable part of a warrior from old coming to the front just like when he had helped that Demoness back in deep space when his Lord destroyed the planet of the Saiyans.
Cervez merely shook his head and was about to intervene when Sinthe finally made his appearance, and it seemed he was quick to debate with Chris's statement but was quick to lay judgment to this Jie person, or as he knew him to be the would-be Kami of this lookout. He wondered what happened to the previous Kami, that Namekian named Arion; had he died or something or was this title of Kami just some hogwash that was passed like some commodity?
His eyes narrowed as he got a bit annoyed, but refused to make that too noticeable as he relaxed his features with the easiness of someone that had lived long enough and knew when to hide their intentions with the easiness of a Chessmaster. In the same notion, he refused from saying anything, deciding that once the would-be Kami was free he'd corner him and lay his own judgment on his person.
Almost late to the party, the Keeper of the Tower appeared and was quick to try and defuse the situation before it could escalate. He merely nodded in acknowledgment when he was mentioned but refused from saying anything at all, instead he set his gaze towards the one that hasn't spoken thus far before making his displeasure about Jie Shan know to everyone that cared to hear.
Hands behind his back and posture straight, he waited for the other shoe to drop as he knew it would. Saiyans were after all easy to figure out and he'd be surprised if Komatsu at least didn't want to get one last punch in before forgiving Jie Shan.

“Are you… ignoring me…” His voice was barely a whisper as he faced Jie Shan at such a close distance it seemed impossible for the silver haired saiyan to ignore him… but it felt like he was wrong. Jie Shan acted like someone with a stick up their ass, introducing himself to those here that he hadn’t been introduced too and even responding to others words before his own.
He didn’t even hear most of them, only one stuck out to him and that was Chris. It would be the first time he started at his cousin with such a threatening glare in his eyes, though he made no move against him. In his mind, Chris had no place to speak about what had happened… While Koma hadn’t called on him to help, he had actually SHOWED UP. Too late sure, but Koma knew how he had his hands full with Nasu. He wasn’t mad at Chris in the slightest over what happened because to KOma it wasn’t his place to help them… but it had been Jie Shan’s. He had been a part of their leadership and he did nothing but hide from danger.
Komatsu clenched his fist tightly, his arm shaking with how much energy it took to not swing it out towards Jie. He listened to what Jie had to say, though the look on Komatsu’s face clearly indicated that he wasn’t having any of it. Even Jie’s tears seemed lost on him. He’d been nursing so many wounds, and not just his own but those of the Saiyans that followed him that he didn’t give a shit about how guilty he felt.
“You think… just admitting to your faults and saying you want to atone for what you did makes any of this better? Do you even understand the position you were IN? I don’t give a shit about how you reacted to Nasu or about what you could have done, I don’t give a shit about losing to you when you became councillor. What I give a shit about? Is the fact that after I called you to help us protect our people from Jarvis there wasn’t even an answer. Even if you got the distress call LATE, you could have done SOMETHING. A search party for survivors or even just a call to see who might still be alive.
Those saiyans looked to you for leadership damn it! Nasu wasn’t there so the security of the planet should have fallen onto the councillors, which hey, no it’s okay you were on vacation!! I had to watch my planet burn from the inside out while DYING in space! When I fought Jarvis I had to listen to kids screaming in pain as they were killed! ARG AND YOU JUST WANT TO ATONE?!?” Komatsu’s voice progressively got louder and louder as he spoke, it was taking an immense amount of control for the saiyan to not blast himself straight into Super Saiyan 4 and take Jie’s head for it… That wasn’t how he did things, but god damn it was this ever difficult!
Instead, as Komatsu’s anger reached it’s pique he finally shoved Galen aside and let loose his fist, aiming a ki empowered punch to Jie’s gut, aiming to have him double over in front of him.
“THEN YOU CAN START BY GETTING YOUR ASS TO NAMEK AND FACING THOSE THAT LOST THEIR FAMILIES!! I’M NOT EVEN THE ONE WHO NEEDS YOUR APOLOGY, THEY ARE!” He growled at him whether his fist connected with Jie or not. He was quite aware of Chris who wasn’t too far off, and was ready to keep him at bay if he had too to get his point to Jie across. He didn’t believe Jie could be Kami… how could someone like him ever protect a planet? He doubted Jie had changed all that much in the short time since Natto’s destruction.
Komatsu’s next actions would all be determined by what Jie did next… the others didn’t matter to him right now, nor did it occur to him that if Jie Shan did become Kami, than it was his blessing Komatsu would seek to use the Hyperbolic Time Chamber once more...

Some other faces had come up by the time the flickering flame stepped up to witness this feud between Jie and Koma. Chris was taken alongside the saiyan he knew for a couple of years now. Seeing him brought back some rather painful memories, sure, but those were overshadowed entirely by the blue prick. She got over feeling sore about him just blasting her ass in the sky long ago; She fully deserved it then. What was even a nicer gesture was the fact he started asking her of opinion and her health, in mind. Flare grimaced and looked up to Chris. Hesitating on saying much else at first. Ragnarok seemed persistent in trying to aid her but as soon as he tried stepping to her side and open his mouth to speak she stepped out and put an arm back to hold the larger red head back. it took her a bit but she spoke. The spirit in her voice not quite there.
"No need... I'm okay, Chris. Roughened up." Her comment was real concise and verbal, mostly because now it was the large cats and dogs that got her attention... Choosing to ignore the main beef between Jie and Koma at first in favor of addressing those instead. Something about the way the newer cat person, in particular, carried himself. Flare had no idea what an anubian or anything of that godly stature was. Never met one. She could only assume this was some sort of zoanthrope pushing around his power. To her, he might as well have been anyways. Flare frowned an turned to this purple cat man, a glint of fire and life in her eyes as she seemed somewhat pissed.
"Excuse me but, who are you again? If I wasn't a kind soul I'd probably punt you off the side of the lookout for just coming up here to lecture people. Something irks me about people moderating others when they themselves don't seem fit for the tour of duty. The hell do you know? Never even fuckin' seen ya around." And when the other large humanoid turned to offer help the fiery woman huffed and shook her head. She herself needed to calm down before she turned onto the main issue anyways. The big guy looked a good bit intimidating just looking at him... Kerbi seemed keen on trying to walk up to Samael and pet his coat.
"I didn't think Earthling zoans could get this big. Look how fluffy this man looks!" The demon would continue, trying to wave the fur on the guy's arm and make it stand even, laughing a bit obnoxiously in the wake of all this heavy tension elsewhere on the lookout. Flare only groaned and tried forcing a smile to the generous wolf guy.
"No. I'm quite fine, like I said. Thank you... Samael, was it? Feel free to beat the annoying sprite of a manchild there by the by, I'll understand." Flare'd point to the pink haired boy before reassessing herself in time to hear Koma berate Jie even more. It was the weirdest feeling, because she had known Jie only for a little bit. He didn't seem any bit as bad as Koma had pointed out. What she didn't know was that he once served under Nasu. Or that he was active in duty when Natto was under attack and didn't bother helping. It rubbed her several ways wrong. Physically she still felt weak however. Unable to muster the same initial fire she once used against Koma when angered.
"Hey. . . Hey!. . . HEY!" Flare eventually mustered a bit of voice as she shouted, trying to grab the attention of everyone present. Her comrades behind her straightened and stared at the flickering flame's anger. As she raised her voice a stream of flame jettisoned from her hair for a brief moment. The fire elemi came stomping over to Jie and Koma in their angry embrace and attempted to grab each of them by the collars of their shirts or their necks, granted whichever she could get away with. It wouldn't be hard to just step away from the weakened Flare, but she had anger in her voice and glowing red eyes. She yelled, either with them in her grasp or at them even louder for stepping away from her rage.
"LISTEN HERE! BOTH OF YA! I'm not in the FUCKING MOOD for this BULLSHIT'! Jie!" She'd either pull him closer to step closer towards him, pending on how he went about accepting or moving away from her grasp. Attention set on him first as anger built up physically around her as whirling flames. Her fists balling up as she vented her own anger much like Koma's.
"Koma's got a BLOODY RIGHT to be mad, yeah! Guess it woulda been bad rep to tell me ANYTHING LIKE YOU WORKING UNDER NASU, or YOU ABANDONING NATTO. I haven't had the FUCKIN' clue as to that, because I was one of the few who made it off that planet! I DID MORE THAN YOU AND I DIDN'T EVEN OWE NATTO ANYTHING! If what Koma's saying about you is true then I'd be DAMNED if that doesn't explain why you wasn't sufficient help dealing with Jarvis this time around.
I'm not going to say not take up Kami though. because someone's GOT TO DO IT. Komatsu!" She turned to either pull Koma in closer to her or stomp a good bit closer to him, gritting her teeth at him. She seemed to regain some of her ower through the anger, but it was crippled still.
[50,000 PL] "I know you're angry, BUT LISTEN TO ME! And LISTEN WELL. Jie might NOT be the perfect fit but tell me, who the fuck else is going to take this spot? This position we obviously need, more than just we. That time chamber, we can send droves of earth's defenders through it! We can train them! You see? Our last LIMP DICK kamis have abandoned us, and by the forsaken kais of this damned galaxy if the PROTECTORS OF THIS DAMNED PLANET HAVE NO FAITH THEN WE'LL HAVE TO FORCE THIS.
Even IF Jie had done ALL THAT, I'd throw the guy into the position faster than the pussy cat over there! AND NO ONE ELSE IS STANDING UP TO TAKE IT! If we stand around and bicker like a bunch of FOOLS then we'll be under the feet of our enemies. We're already facing insurmountable odds. So take it from me when I say you need to BUTT OUT AND LET HIM TAKE THIS HELLISH SPOT. BECAUSE AS FAR AS I'M AWARE, YOUR SISTER AND THAT SLUG MAN ARE FEEDING US TO THE WOLVES... No offence, Sam." The only reason why she wasn't transformed in her usually rage was that she was just physically weak now. No amount of advanced repression was going to save her from such outbursts. Her body just felt so frail, vulnerable after being subjugated to that blue haired prick. She'd step back or let them both go at that point, stepping between them all grabbing at her cloak. Pulling the thing off in a single stroke to reveal most of her body. She wore the usual small coat over her shoulders, but her usual under garments, the skin tight sit, was absent. Replaced by bandaging that covered her torso. Including all the private bits. The rags didn't seem bloodied, save for the one across her cheek, and almost served more to cover her form.
"The blue haired fuck is still out on Earth. I've done all I could to keep as many people as I could safe, going as far as to throw myself at him. Stalling him out long enough for you all to actually show up! For what? So he could get away and just toy with the passerby? You know damned well he's not being a saint out there! I failed, again! SO LET ME- NO, LET US PUT OUR HEADS TOGETHER AND DEAL WITH THIS LIKE WE ACTUALLY KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT DEFENDING OUR HOMES. OUR LIVES!" Ragnarok kept his arms crossed and just smirked at the display. Others in her party held back, save for Kerbi, who once again tried petting this time Sinthe's head. Floating up to try and give it a pat.
It was with slight amusement that Sinthe watched one of Flare’s entourage attempt to pet the two ‘fluffy’ men that he’d accompanied here although it annoyed him somewhat that these backwoods hicks still mistook them for Zoanthrope earthlings with such startling frequency and insistent ignorance. So with the rather dismissive question of his identity still on the table he decided to breeze right along to the really important part.
’Again, whether you chose to or not the content of my statements would go unaltered, I am either correct or incorrect. If it bothers you, feel free. My name is Sinthe the Destroyer, Cervez and I are not what you people call Zoans, we are… something else. I, for my part, am something older and less patient than anyone alive today would have any conception of.’ Sinthe wasn’t sure how much exactly his companion was comfortable sharing with these people and though he was the elder, in his current state this was definitely Cervez’ show, something which had become quite clear while they were on Namek. ’For now, trust that we have this planet’s interests at heart for reasons of our own and that you’d do well to heed advice offered freely.’ There was something different about the way he spoke now, there was still the perennial smugness there as though he knew very well he were the smartest being in the whole cluster or something, but his rarely observed sincerity it seemed had now surfaced.
A good time for it too, he was not known to be especially patient at the best of times and the fact that these few had decided to centre what seemed to be an increasingly elaborate melodrama around this succession drew a subdued growl from him as he simply stood on and watched it unfold. So he stood there, arms crossed, eyes practically shut as these people tried to decided once and for all who was the martyriest martyr that ever was martyred and only breaking his concentration to ward off an unexpected inconvenience.
’Quit it,’ he ordered Flare’s companion flatly. Not that he was entirely averse to anyone petting his fur so long as they REALY knew what they were doing it carried the implicit risk that this person might be one such and quite honestly he didn’t think that purring in front of these people would strengthen his position any. ’Quit it,’ he repeated, as the strangers’ hand hovered over him again, not having been entirely discouraged by his first insistence.
So he stood and he watched until finally there was something of a lull in the pity party for him to re-insert himself in to the dialogue proper. ’Pardon me,’ he interjected, not really caring if anyone were to actually cede the floor to him or not, he wanted something clarified and he was damn sure going to get it. ’I’m a little less than up on local affairs hereabouts, s’actually why I’ve tried on more than one occasion to meet this world’s Guardian, go figure, right? Who exactly is this person whom you all keep referring to though? The way you talk about him… I’m trying to think up a better word than “dread.”’WC: 537

Komatsu was angry, understandably so. And though Jie Shan had nothing positive to think about the typically salty Saiyan, there was that resigned part of him that could not even begin to argue with Komatsu. Even now, as Komatsu had begun to shout at Jie Shan, the hybrid remained silent and allowed the Saiyan to yell at him, not even bothering to try and interject. Komatsu was in a rage, but a justified one. There would be no justice to it if Jie Shan had tried to interfere, so he stood there silently, choosing only to look straight ahead at Komatsu, not even attempting to move a muscle, still as a statue.
Even as Flare was begging to involve herself, Jie Shan remained still as the outside world descended upon him. Though internally, he winced. Flare had been through a lot, through Hell itself, and yet her she was. If anything, her sacrifice had only inspired Jie Shan to move forward with his decision to become Kami and now here she was getting into a shouting match. Damn it, he thought, damn it all. Nothing could ever be simple, someone would always have something else to say, some caveat to champion or some bone to pick.
But Jie Shan thought he finally understood, so he did not raise his voice nor put up his fists nor even resist or move to put Flare aside as she came grappling between them, her feeble hand wrapping tight around the collar of his shirt. The Elemi screamed some more as Komatsu also screamed. . . So much screaming, he thought, it was as if he were on a battlefield. And perhaps, in a way, the silver haired hybrid had unwittingly stumbled onto a battlefield. He could only hope now that this was a battle with some end and that he could leave, be it on his own two feet or in a casket.
Suddenly, Flare stepped back and Komatsu came at him: a fast flying fist, headed straight for center mass.
The fist found its mark.
A sudden thunder clap of pain shot through Jie Shan as the Saiyan hybrid took the blow. Jie Shan stood there for a moment before finally collapsing to his knees. The metallic taste of blood filled his mouth and his eyes watered up. The wind left his lungs and left the young hybrid gasping for air.
Finally, it came back to him and he was able to form words once again.
"K-komatsu," he spat out, "I am sorry. . . for everything. Not just to you, b-but to everyone else I wronged."
Jie Shan coughed.
"Do you remember the last conversation we had?" He asked, "After you destroyed that city here on Earth? About how you knew how you had gone and fucked up, but you were truly sorry and trying to fix things?"
Jie Shan spit, a bloody foam landing beside his own foot.
"I was a real ass to you about it," he admitted, "But looking back on it, you were right and I was wrong. Now? Now I want to do the same thing as you and try my best to make things right, but I understand if you don't want to give me that chance."
Jie Shan sat on his knees, still as could be. As one of the interlopers spoke, Jie Shan turned his head painfully towards him and spat out an answer: "Jarvis, or the Caesar. Once-king of Vegeta before that got popped. Now he's running around causing trouble."

Galen was pretty much ignored by all of them and it was a little bit frustrating. If the human had more of an ego he would be definitely hurt, but luckily that wasn’t the case, so he just sighed deeply, shook his head and listened to what they all had to say. The anubian remained silent and Komatsu was the one to speak next and he was getting rather violent and then he shoved Galen aside and that alerted the human quite a lot, who arched his brows, uncertain on what was about to happen. He got ready to act in defense of his friend if the need arose. Flare seemed rather nervous and also spoke a hell lot, trying to make Komatsu see reason and avoid some conflict and Galen was glad for that but he didn’t know how much reason the saiyan was willing to hear.
The other anubian told Flare to quit it a couple times and then just asked who was this guardian and Galen understood how he was confused, but before anything else could happen, Komatsu power punched Jie Shan, making him spit blood and that made Galen widen his eyes quite a bit. ”Why you?!” he exclaimed, feeling the anger rising up inside of his heart. To see his friend being assaulted by that when he stood up for his planet was infuriating and he wouldn’t stand for that. Even though Jie Shan had been apologizing for his wrongs, he wouldn’t stand for that.
Galen took a very deep breath and afraid of his own anger and transformations, he took off the sword of his shoulder and dropped it to the ground. Then, he waited until Jie Shan finished speaking and then he approached, grabbing Komatsu by the collar and dragging him to face himself. ”Listen, boy!” it was one of the very rare moments Galen was being harsh and not his normal polite demeanor.
”Shut your mouth and listen! I’m Galen, the Keeper of Korin’s Tower, and until we have a new guardian, I’m the one who holds a position of power here, so you all will shut up and listen to me this time, or you can get the hell away from this place!” he roared, gritting his teeth. ”If we were to live by the past, you wouldn’t have any right to do as little as to put a single foot on this place! Don’t think I don’t know what you did before having a change of heart! And I respect you for having a change of heart, but this respect is lost if you act as a hypocrite with Mister Jie! Everyone should be given the right to repent and I’m saying that not only as one of the guardians of this holy place, but as a human being, born and raised on this planet!” he said in a very serious tone, not letting go of Komatsu’s collar.
”Your sister wasn’t from here and we embraced her. Hell, most of the people here aren’t from this place, and yet I’m ready to embrace you all. Leave the past behind where it deserves to be and let us all look forward.” he said, before staring back at Jie Shan. ”Mister Jie, you did more for us than most who claim to be our defenders. I welcome you to this place as Kami, and if anyone begs to say the differ, I will pick up my sword from the floor and fight, as it’s my duty as the Tower Keeper! Now, would you please rise? Kami shouldn’t be on his knees.” he huffed.
