"Well, honestly. I never expected you to really settle down with a true mate.. I might've expected children with someone like Nasu but not a real relationship or anything like that, something just to keep the blood flowing and the genes strong and whatever other stuff, yeah? And I don't mean to rag on Tarro or anything, it's just that he didn't seem like your type. You seem to know exactly what I like and yet I swear I can't get a good read on you, sheesh. I'm a damned open book." Hasenya shook her head, still finding this subject very amusing. It was a nice bit of payback for riling her up earlier, but she wasn't about to push it much further than that with more important subjects at hand.
When Tomina mentioned Flare's power, Hasenya went wide-eyed and blinked twice, clearly somewhat shocked by that. "Huh.. She's a lot stronger here than when I was a kid. Must be that I haven't been born yet to go and weaken her, huh? If not, then this is a good thing. If she can defend herself being a powerhouse of a fighter like that, then I've got a little less to stress over. Still.." She trailed off for a brief moment, glancing off to the side and rubbing at one of her arms nervously. It was a hard thing to admit, and it hurt to think about. But it was easy for her to confide in her cousin, even if twenty ears into the past. "I haven't seen my mom since I was eleven, she died then, or so it was very easy to assume. I never saw the body- Not because I wasn't allowed, but just because it was.. missing. No one knew where it had gone. It was heart-wrenching for me, on top of those wonderful things we call hormones. I was granted one wish and allowed to come back here, but denied being able to bury her. It sucks, but now it's not an issue."
She let out a sigh and shook her head, no time for that sad sappy nonsense. It would cloud her thoughts and affect her judgement, and by the Kais she was paranoid enough as it is. "Products are more expensive than cigarettes. I'll take my chances with going gold.. If I can afford the time to achieve that form, even. We'll have to see after the tournament if I'm not a Super Saiyan before you get back."

Tomina wrinkled her nose at the notion of having a kid with Nasu. Oh, she had no doubt that the kid would grow up to be one of the strongest warriors to have ever existed. But blood ran too thickly through the Natto and Lettis like for them to merge like that.
“I didn't think I would settle down either. I don't know what he was like in your timeline, but in this one he’s something special. I’d never have a kid with Nasu, even if he wasn't taken. He’s the most tolerable out of Natto’s children for me to interact with. But he looks almost exactly like his father. I would never fuck a child of the man who took everything from me.”
Tomina’s eyes flashed with anger for a moment, but she was quick to douse out the flames before they blazed with fury. Hasenya wasn’t the only person who had been through a lot.
“Well, it's a good thing that I am unpredictable. It means my enemies will have a harder time reading me. You're not the most open book I’ve read. Although when it comes to talking to me, you’ve left yourself wide open. You probably aren't as easy to read when interacting with someone less familiar to you.”
Hasenya seemed surprised by the level of power that her mother had. So, Flare was weaker in the future? Tomina let out a snort. How could she lose to someone like that?
“I did mention earlier that in terms of raw power, she has me beat. Having children doesn't reduce your power level. It's not like you took some of your mother's strength while coming out. She must have gotten lax in her training. She of all people should know to practice against strong threats. Honestly, what the hell was that woman thinking?!"
After that short outburst, Tomina listened as Hasenya explained the circumstances by which she lost her mother. Tomina now understood why she was so frantic to find Flare. She didn’t want her mother to vanish again.
“There usually isn't a body after a major battle. There wasn’t a trace left of my mother after her fight with Natto. Most of the time you don't get to say goodbye when your loved ones are taken from you. Most people don't get second chances like you got.”
Tomina was blunt about the subject matter. She wasn’t particularly skilled in cheering people up. Well, not by being comforting anyway. Earlier Hasenya had been snapped out of her stupor after she told her to keep living, so maybe this was the best way to tackle things.
Tomina tapped her chin with a finger, her eyes looking upward as she thought about Hasenya’s dilemma. Honestly only one thing came to mind for her.
“You probably wouldn't be able to achieve it that quickly. I could just get those products for you. Proper Saiyans don't take part in primitive, convoluted economics. If we're stronger than someone and they have something we want, we take it. The Empire never traded with anyone because we just took resources that we wanted.”
The hybrid had grown up in a environment where strength meant everything. The strong got what they wanted and the weak were left in the dust. Why bother to work your ass off in some job performing menial tasks to get currency when you could just take things? It just made sense to Tomina.
That bluntness was exactly what she needed, it was true. Even if deep inside it hurt like Hell, it gave way for Hasenya to put up more of those mental blocks. She may not have some kind of special mind resistance to others, but when it came to her own thoughts and feelings she could suppress those or substitute them for something else. Eventually it would lead to a fit similar to what she had earlier, but considering it had taken nearly a decade for that to happen, who knows when she'll next explode? I mean, other than going Super Saiyan of course. But that's more of an angry explosion and not so much a crying one. It wasn't exactly great in terms of emotional health, but right now Hasenya considered a hardened resolve to be more important than emotional stability. Sometimes it paid to be internally messed up.
Hasenya shook her head when Tomina stated she would just buy the products. If what she had just said about Saiyans was all true, she knew what she needed to do to make it somewhere. The color of her hair didn't factor in to her success. "No, my hair is fine. I'll fight my way to the top like any other Saiyan would. It's like you said, if you want something you take it. I want to have a safe place to go to in the Kingdom and so I won't earn it with silly hair care products. If a real Saiyans hair never changes from the day they are born, then I think I would be better off respecting that and letting my hair stay the way it is rather than go against it and dying it all black." She realized she might have been a bit ridiculous talking like that, and so she shifted uncomfortably and looked at Tomina. "I might not believe in karma too much, but knowing my luck I wouldn't want to leave myself open to a dangerous situation like that. It would tarnish both of our names if anyone learned I had dyed my hair. So, unless you're confident there's no danger and you think dying it is the safest way to go, we can leave it the way it is. Might not make much of a difference later, say for removing the possibility of having an awkward conversation."
Hasenya already proved that lying wasn't her strong suit. She honestly hated doing it, but she could see the necessity in doing so in certain situations. Still, even in those situations she can get found out and make things more worse than they already were. She'd rather die honest than as a liar, even if it were to someone like Caesar. Though this wouldn't at all include who she was and all her future knowledge. That had to stay hidden for sure, it was best left buried in a hole under the lookout with the rest of her stash than being distributed freely. As of right now, Tomina was the only person that knew.

Tomina nodded at Hasenya, not unlike how a stern parent acknowledged their kid. Hasenya was picking up on things fast.
“Well that's good, since I wouldn't have done it for you. If it's something you want, you need to take it with your own power. Besides, you should be proud of your natural body. It's one thing to change colors during a transformation, but it's another to do it with artificial products. You can't deny who or what you are.”
This wouldn't be the first time Tomina was going to test Hasenya. She constantly kept her students on their toes. She was glad that Hasenya was doing so well. Tomina tossed over the spaceship capsule to Hasenya, so so she could store it when she had to.
“I have to do training of my own soon. Of you want to spar again before that I’ll be willing to oblige. If you want to rest in the Incinerator then that's fine too. You probably haven't slept in a decent bed in a long time.”
Hasenya thought about her options for a good moment. On one hand, she could finally sleep in a decent bed and maybe get this whole sleeping thing straightened out. On the other, the more appealing option was to keep on sparring and talking with her cousin. She had just been reunited with her, after all. Even if technically it was their first time meeting. There was likely still a lot left to be said, information to be given among other things. With the cat already out of the bag, she could speak a lot more freely. But that still rank the risk of changing events for the worse, despite even the best intentions. She just wouldn't ever get a break from the whole caution thing, it seemed.
"I'd love to keep sparring with you, for sure. The sooner I get strong the better, and I'm more than willing to work myself until I can't move. That will just mean progress is being made.. Though, I might not be willing to move the day after. I guess there's only one way to find out just how much I can handle before needing a real break, huh?" Hasenya then grinned. "Who knows, cousin. You might get worn out and sick of it before I do, 'cause I'm feeling pretty damn motivated."

Well, she certainly had a Saiyan's fighting spirit. Even after traveling back through time and going through one round of sparring with her, she wanted to go at it again. Tomina smirked over at Hasenya.
"It looks like I'm going to have to drag you to bed after all this is over. You probably won't even be able to walk there by the time we're done. Although you'd have better luck finding water then a dessert then finding a Saiyan who isn't excited by the prospect of fighting to their hearts content. Granted if we go at it like we did before, I'll certainly have to edge. There's something I wanted to test out though."
Tomina held out her hand, concentrating her energy. It channeled throughout her body and focused there, coursing through her arm. Suddenly a sword appeared in her hand. It was a good sized katana. Tomina turned it around in her hand, inspecting it with interest.
"I haven't really had the chance to use this technique that often. Sword fighting isn't my motif usually, although I bet it's your specialty. I'll give you a handicap and fight you with a weapon I've never used before now. How about it cousin? Saiyans aren't really keen on using weapons in a fight. Maybe you can change my mind if you show me some merit to it."
Tomina turned to the side, looking at her cousin out of the corner of her eye as the held the blade. It extended out behind her, poised to strike when the time was right. For the moment she would watch to see how her cousin would react. She was much stronger then her, but now she was in Hasenya's territory now.
She wasn't expecting that at all. This katana technique of Tomina's must've been some weird side-effect of her coming back. Or maybe Tomina of her timeline didn't have someone twenty years ago show her just how useful a sword can be when brought to a fist fight. "Well.. Your sword definitely isn't Excalibur, but I've already seen that having a talking sword isn't too different from having a quiet sword. I'd dare to say that having a regular old weapon might be more beneficial to someone who doesn't like being barked at and given advice in the middle of combat." Hasenya drew her own blade as she spoke, wrapping both hands firmly around it's handle. "You already seem to know that you can channel Ki and whatever element through the metal of your blade, so I won't waste time explaining the science of it.." Excalibur's edge glowed a white hot color for a brief moment, before settling into a burning orange. It wasn't the same as the spirit within the blade enhancing the metal, so it wouldn't be cutting mountains in half or scaring away demons, but it would burn like Hell if it managed to come into contact with flesh. Being a much stronger Elemi of the same element, Tomina wouldn't have much to worry about say for the cutting part if Hasenya failed to use the flat end of the blade properly.
"You might find yourself in need of a sharp edge during the tournament, so.. Don't go discounting anything you might learn. It's pretty much the same principle as any other kind of fighting, but one has to get used to the additional range a sword gives. Sure, you can fire lasers from here and hit the moon but the moon is a big damned target. The extra couple of feet of range certainly makes a difference between missing and not missing. Fast opponents might be able to move quickly, but they might not be able to move the right distance necessary to back all that up." She shifted her grip a bit, making Excalibur move as if to attract attention to it. "This big ole' sword would have a bitch of a time against your smaller and quicker weapon if it were normal. But I think at this point I'm much too fast with my sword in hand to have to worry about any dirty moves from you."

Tomina stared over at Hasenya, raising an eyebrow at the girl. So, talking swords were a thing now? The hybrid shrugged her shoulders. Sure, why not? Nothing seemed to be an impossibility anymore. She just decided to roll with it, like every other bizarre thing she had encountered recently.
"That's sounds annoying as all fuck. High level battles go too quickly for you to be coached in the middle of them anyway. Although how did you end up getting a talking sword, let alone any sword for that matter? Neither Chris or Flare wield one. At least not what I saw of their fighting styles."
Tomina twirled her sword in her hand as her cousin gave her the rundown on swordplay. Although it didn't go too far into depth of things. Still, she didn't expect to become a swordmaster in such a short amount of time anyway, so this was fine with her.
“So basically just swing and hit you with the pointy end. Your sword is certainly bulkier than mine, but that won't make that much of a difference. Especially once you get stronger. Alright, time to test this beauty out.”
Tomina lunged forward, clutching her sword as she pulled her arm back. She sliced at Hasenya’s chest with a horizontal swing of the sword. While Tomina was fast, the sword movement itself would be fairly easy to track. This was her first time using the weapon after all.
"You really don't know the story? I guess I got used to it being well-known in my time.." Hasenya frowned, raising Excalibur and turned it so its flat end faced towards Tomina, with a bit of a push and what was certainly a practiced movement she made her swing go wide thus missing her. There was no way for her to not calculate a direct attack like that. The torso was the largest and easiest place to strike, full of vital organs that would make for quick and easy defeats. It was the most attractive place to hit for those beginners wanting a more guaranteed hit, but Hasenya knew much better. "Its a long story, and not even I know the full length of it. I'm sure it would go differently here in this timeline, but I can try to tell you about it while you're coming at me."
Hasenya brought Excalibur up to rest it on her shoulder, stepping a slight distance away while Tomina recovered from her blow being deflected. "Chris does own a sword, actually.. Or did, at least. Owned two, as matter of fact. He never used them for real fights as far as I ever knew, but since he was part of the old Knights he had a good deal of skill dealing with them and using them. The old wielder died before I was born, and Excalibur here went without an owner for six years." She paused briefly, taking Excalibur from her shoulder and entering a proper defensive stance with it. She felt confident that she could continue to casually play with Tomina, but this was training, not playing. It would help majorly with her dulled senses and rusty reflexes if she were serious about it.
"Excalibur chooses who wields her. I've been told I was the youngest to be chosen, but considering how many wielders there have been before me.. There's no actual real telling whether that's true or not. But it sounds real good on a resume, don't ya think?"

“I know nothing of Earth legends or lore. Back at the height of the Empires power, my mother invaded this planet to obtain its dragonballs. Due in part to Natto betraying her, she lost and was forced to retreat. Earth was the one planet to ever escape her grasp.”
That has been one of the most pivotal moments in Saiyan history. It would have a ripple effect that spread over time to shape the universe into what it was today. Tomina honestly didn't know how to feel about it anymore. The race she was proud to be a part of was largely responsible for how low the mortal level currently was.
“I was born in part to eventually be a part of an invasion force to capture this planet. My mother was a spiteful, vengeful reason I selectively bred me and my sister to be her weapons. So Earth legends weren’t a part of my curriculum. You’re free to tell me all about it, assuming you can find the time while sparring against me, of course.”
Tomina frowned when her strike was easily deflected, slowing down to a standstill as Hasenya hopped away. Okay, maybe she would have time to talk about the legend surrounding her sword after all. This was not as straightforward as it initially appeared to be. She eyed her cousin, tilting her head as she considered her next move.
“Chris has never used either on me. Who were these old knights? And who was the last owner of the sword?”
Tomina casually swung her wrist in circles, twirling the sword around in her hand. She slowly walked towards Hasenya. She didn’t seem to be in a hurry all of a sudden.
“Being the youngest to do something is really good for your rep. If I had reached this level of power while the Empire was still around, I would have been heralded as a prodigy. No one outside of my family would have dared fuck with me. Becoming the youngest to wield that sword is probably no small feat either.”
Tomina suddenly ran forward, pulling back her arm like she was going to thrust towards her chest. At the last second she tossed the blade to her other hand knelt down and attempted a sweep at Hasenya’s legs. It seemed like Tomina was trying to get to sense of how this type of fighting played out.
"Their names escape me. Chris didn't seem to enjoy talking about them.. They must have had a really good reputation for awhile, and then flopped. But as I said, I don't know the whole story and I don't I ever will without asking the two siblings of the last wielder. She was Earth's Kami for awhile, I believe. Your king and a certain overseer would know all about it, but I doubt they would want to talk much about it either." Hasenya shrugged, watching while Tomina would come at her a second time. This was a move she'd seen before, it was move best used with thinner blades like rapiers or knives, but Tomina seemed to think it might be good with her katana. Which Hasenya would not deny, while it looked like it would be better for slashing with its curved edge, it could certainly be used for thrusting and then feinting if it were to come as a surprise attack. But this attack had been used on her many a' time, mainly during training to see if Hasenya could keep her footing in the face of uncertainty.
She played it a little more aggressively this time, turning her blade and shoving herself forward, pushing against Tomina's feint. Essentially shoving her cousin away from her using the wide end and length of Excalibur as an added defense to prevent herself from getting hurt during such an attempt. "If physical strength were the requirement, it would have been because of Caesar's blood. Fortunately for me, it was because of my heart. Called it pure, or whatever.. I still don't believe in it personally, but I can't argue with a millennia old being." Again, rather than take advantage of the opportunity to strike back, Hasenya stepped away and gave Excalibur a twirl. She might've been better off defending herself like that with a shield, and there wasn't yet any telling of whether or not Hasenya would be surprised enough by such an aggressive defensive move that she would actually be put off balance again. Hasenya figured she would pick up on her strategy fast, and then find some way to get through it. The Elemi was just buying more time to talk.
"That makes me wonder.. Where is my father, even? Did he keel over or is he bathing in luxury on some distant planet?"
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
Tomina at first thought that Hasenya had told her a whole bunch of vague info again. She had nothing against her cousin for doing this so often, but it was hard to learn anything useful sometimes. That is until something clicked. A look of disbelief appeared on Tomina’s face. Siblings of the last wielder? No, it couldn't be.
“Natto had a third child? Why haven't I heard anything about this one? They must have died already, otherwise they would have come to defend the Earth when we attacked it. They must have been strong as well. Damn! Why couldn't I have been the one to do them in?”
Of course Natto had another insanely strong offspring. Three to match three children of Lettis. He always had to outdo her, didn't he? This distraction was enough for her to let Hasenya gain ground on her and actually force her back. Plus the whole requirements of being able to wield Excalibur was weird in of itself.
"You know, I don't understand how attacks or inanimate objects can tell how your heart is pure or whether you're good or evil. Chris said that his Spirit Bomb was more effective against evil people, and held it up to one of my subordinates to show that. A bunch of flashy effects if you ask me. Good, evil, pure, corrupted, it's all subjective. Maybe that sword has a mind of its own and it judged you worthy. But I don't believe in powers that can read into your soul."
Tomina scowled, her nose twitching seemingly in response to a foul odor that only she could smell. Just the mention of that disgusting creature was enough to put her in a foul mood. She supposed she was going to have to get used to it if she was going to interact with Hasenya regularly though.
"He's off training somewhere probably. Or trying to stick his dick into something. I don't know and I don't care right now. He doesn't bother hiding his presence, so you'll know whenever he's nearby."
Tomina rolled her shoulders tilting her head from side to side. For a moment she considered how to approach things. Then she shrugged, and lunged at Hasenya. She threw a series of rapid jabs and thrusts, changing the elevation of which part of the chest she was aiming for. All of these strikes were at mid range, but then she closed the gap suddenly. She stuck her foot out to try and get Hasenya to lose her footing, pulling her arm back and trying to slam the hilt of her blade against Hasenya's face. Tomina was not above fighting dirty when it suited her.
Damn, there was that speed again. Rapid, thundering strikes that Hasenya could only barely keep up with if not for her years of experience using a blade in comparison to Tomina. She kept one foot back and Excalibur raised, relying on coordination and moving her wrist to meet each thrust and jab with the flat end of Excalibur. Practiced, expert movements fortunately made up for her dulled senses. She wouldn't lose her footing as easily as that, but she was scarily close. The hybrid stood firm, quickly readjusting to the new albeit awkward standing position she had been forced to take and raised her hand, catching the pommel of Tomina's sword in her palm. "I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it." She stated briefly and then turned her heel, throwing her other foot toward launching a kick to push Tomina back and give herself better ground to get back into a proper standing position. "They exist, but they're far more rare than anyone knows."
Hasenya raised Excalibur, pointing the tip at Tomina. "Excalibur won't get a read on someone like you, or just some other random bloke. It's a weird pre-determined connection between her and myself. In a sense, we're basically the same. I didn't need to necessarily be pure for me to get to wield her.. But with the power she used to have, I'm not surprised she would rather be in the right hands. When an eleven year old is cutting down mountains with one swing, you've got to be especially careful." Although she agreed for the most part with Tomina, she didn't very much appreciated having Excalibur's abilities be discounted. The sword had power beyond anyone's understanding, and even if it were dead or sleeping, Hasenya took great pride and honor in being able to wield it.
"I can't prove her power to you now. Some part of me doubts that I'll get to, but take my word for it when I say she would surprise the Hell out of you. She did get me here, after all."
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
Hasenya managed to keep up her, despite the rapid pace Tomina had sent, much to her surprise. Even more surprising was Hasenya’s proficiency at sword fighting. Her deflections of Tomina’s attacks were all fluid and precise. All of this was happening while Tomina was trying to trip her up. Tomina smirked at Hasenya as she caught her sword hilt. It was good to see that she was on her guard.
“I don’t believe in anything until it's proven to me. I’m not a blind believer who can put their faith in what they don't know is true. I will take anything you say into consideration though.”
Tomina’s feet slid against the rocky floor, kicking up dirt and gravel as she skidded backwards. Hasenya was much more proficient with a blade then with her fists. She was relying on tricks to even things out. All she was doing was relying on her fundamentals to push her back. Tomina gripped her sword, preparing herself to engage her again. She had a wide grin on her face. This was going to be more fun than she expected.
“Heh, you should have seen what I could do when I was 4. I don't believe in abilities that affect you based on your morality. But you are here standing in front of me. That’s proof enough of that swords power to me. Now have it it!”
Tomina lunged forward, and the next exchange between her and Hasenya began. Later on, she would remember this fondly as the most fun she had ever had sparring someone. It was a truly memorable moment with her cousin.
A Few Hours Later
Tomina was breathing heavily, her brow sweating from all the fighting she had done. While she could go on for much longer then this, she had been doing so without using most of her power. Tomina stood up, giving her cousin a grin.
“Heh, you certainly showed me. I couldn't beat you using a sword. I’ve got to learn a bit more before I can challenge you like that again. Be proud cousin: you're the first person to outplay me in a spar in awhile.”
Actually it was more impressive than Tomina made it out to be. The last time she got bested in a spar was 8 years ago, back when she was still in the Empire. She wasn’t going to blow Hasenya’s trumpet too hard though. If she gave her too much praise at the start, then it would fade in value later on.
“Well, I don't know about you, but I don't like staying this filthy. We should wash up in my ship. I’ll let you go first, cause I suspect you’ve forgotten what a warm shower feels like.”
Tomina made her way towards the Incinerator, carrying her sword over her shoulder. Today had been more productive than Tomina could have imagined. Now it was time to relax and have some meaningful conversation with one of her own kin.
Hasenya wasn't much better off. Her arms might've been used to the movements involved in getting Excalibur to move so freely and fluidly, but given her overall recent structure she was feeling a little bit worse for wear. Somehow, her arms felt lighter rather than heavy and stiff. This defunct physiology of hers was starting to become weirder and weirder, but it was pretty interesting to see how it reacted when pushed into strenuous physical activity. Her flames had died down by this point, must've run the tank completely empty. It was scary to think she might be running on an actual limited reserve of strength, but given how her earlier motivational outburst from earlier caused her to positively glow with magenta flames, she knew she was running on something more similar to a rechargeable battery.
"Ya had a handicap there, cousin. I can't accept that as a real victory." Hasenya shook her head, sheathing Excalibur away onto her back. If they had been using their fists, Tomina would have won that. Though that could've just been her usual pessimism speaking. She wouldn't go discounting Tomina's praise, but to her that was simply the truth of it. "I can't even remember the last time bathed in something that wasn't in a creek or in front of the sink in some public restroom. I'll be more than happy to go first, but I make no promises about how long I'll be in there." The Elemi grinned and without waiting for a response she took off for the ship. When she could help it, and or wasn't in some depressed slump, she was big on cleanliness. Her occupation often left her quite dirty, after all. So hygiene was an important factor to ensure her lasting health.. Even if her health was pretty much ruined by coming back to the past.
'Course she wouldn't get far once she stepped on. She didn't exactly know the layout of the ship, and was not just about to go running off blindly searching for it like an idiot. She was excited for a shower like an Anubian for a pat on the head, but she was still twenty frickin' one.
