More and more strong powers were showing up. So far nothing was remotely close to the energies she had sensed the day that Earth was forced to evacuate. Although the main problem was that many of these powers were just popping into existence from nowhere. They were somehow getting past her sensing range. It was likely something unique to demons: a portal was how the attackers of East City had left. So it only made sense that it's how the demons would arrive.
Unfortunately, one of them advanced to her position right off the bat. And then proceeded to… hit.on her. There wasn’t any other way she could describe what he was doing. He was very touch probe, from tapping her nose to running his fingers through her hair. Holly kept her face calm, even though inwardly she did not like this one bit.
“Thank you, it's a difficult process to get my hair like this. I have to spend a considerable amount of time conditioning it before using curlers to shape it the way I want.”
She also used magic to help keep her hair in place should she get into a fight or something like that, but she wasn’t going to mention that to an enemy of all things. This opponent seemed to think she was an ally though. Holly decided that she would take advantage of that.
Then the demon really turned up the charm. When he tried to hug her, she flew back 5 feet to avoid it. He was dropping all pretense and was being very obvious with his intentions.
“I appreciate the gesture, but we are about to engage in battle. Now isn’t the time to fool around.
Ugh, she couldn’t believe that she said that with a straight face. She was being hit on and didn't like it one bit. It seemed as of late no one respected her.
To make matters worst, two more people appeared from a portal. One who's energy she couldn't sense starting firing energy all over the place. But avoiding the weak attacks was as simple as floating back a few feet. They weren't very fast or hard hitting blasts.
The other person who came through nearby was fairly strong. Although they didn't even seem to be interested in making an attack. Instead she was sitting down and typing in a… ipad? Holly felt a twinge of anger looking at this one.
<They invade our planet with this level of nonchalance? First this demon is hitting on me without any sense of battle plan on now that brat is treating it like a boring car trip. I’ll make them regret underestimating us like this.>
Yet all was not lost. Someone who introduced themself as Galen telepathically contacted her. He addressed her with the proper formalities and informed her about the being who she was interacting with. She replied back to him with a very appreciative tone.
<I can’t tell whether or not you're being literal about coming back from the dead or not, but right now that doesn't matter. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I wasn't planning on trusting this guy anyway, bit your information will prove to be most useful. Do all you can Galen, and we might just live through this.>
Holly was going to use things to her advantage as much as possible. So far it seemed like Durendal thought she was on her side. She intended to keep it that way too. Two approaching signatures would give her the opportunity she needed to further convince the creature she was on their side.
“I’m out here to scout the battlefield and keep track of enemies who enter it. We have two enemies approaching our position. One of them is a demon who turned traitor and aligned herself with the Vampire who rules west city. My strongest Magi will arrive shortly as well.”
Sure enough, four new people showed up to the battlefield. One of them was a Saiyan, and the other was the demon that she had encountered before. She appeared to be a bit stronger since their last encounter. Lumis and Terra arrived shortly after that, the latter flying in on a broom. Holly then pushed to further deceive Durendal.
“You take care of the filthy monkey over there. I’ll handle the traitor. You’ll get support from one of my Magi if it's necessary. Give lord Caesar my regards for me.”
Holly immediately contacted the Saiyan mentally after she said that. They needed to be on the same page in order for this to work.
<I apologize for the crude insult, but we need all the advantages that we can get right now. Play along with it and treat me as an enemy for now.>
Holly then got a very strange telepathic message from one of the demons. They wanted her to surrender in exchange for restoring Earth and giving her power. While there were some parts that would have been tempting to her, she wasn’t going to accept such an offer, given the circumstances.
<With all due respect, I’ll have to decline that. You demons haven't given me a reason to trust you. Even if the Dragonballs existed and you obtained them, am I supposed to take your word for it that you’ll use your wish to restore Earth? You attacked and destroyed East City without provocation. Where was your deal to save humanity then? So far you’ve proven to be as trustworthy as the Kold Demons who slaughter refugees they swore they would protect.>
Her voice was tinged with bitterness. No matter what she tried, her subjects were constantly losing their lives. The situation was spiraling out of control. She would not throw their lives away on promise that probably wouldn't even be kept.
<If saving humanity is so important to this Heizen, then why didn't he seek an audience with me? No, I will fight to the bitter end. If you truly wish to help humanity, you will revive us all if you win, even though I turned down your offer. As Queen of Earth I am responsible for the wellbeing of my subjects. I won’t throw their lives away so easily for a promise that may not be kept.>
Holly wasn't completely done with the demon though. Even though she didn't accept the offer right of the bat, that didn't mean she wasn't going to try and barter to make the situation as favorable as possible.
<That being said, if you do as you have promised, then I will give you Earth’s undying loyalty to you. I will ensure that an alliance will be made that will last even long after I die. If you restore Earth, we will fight with you and die alongside of you. You will have access to all the projects I have planned to make Earth a safe place. And this planet shall become a second home for your kind. But until that happens, I will defend what's left of my planet from you until the bitter end.>
Ah, the Vampire. Her conversations with her were always full of hostility. Well at least this time she wasn't throwing a barrage of insults in her direction. Still, she couldn’t help but let her irritation show when responding to her.
<Sometimes assumptions are necessary to make important decisions, especially if you can't get all the information you need. I won’t question why you aren't outright defending West City. The people living there chose not to follow my rule, and are now your responsibility. I will do all that I can to save them regardless though. I don't want to see your face anyway, so staying 250 feet away is acceptable. You won’t be getting a medal after this is over, I can tell you that much.>
It looked as though the battle that occured in East City was about to get a sequel. Holly summoned a magic circle, which started producing small sparks of electricity. Despite the desperate situation, she gave the demon a confident smirk before addressing her telepathically.
<I would have figured you would have known better after our last encounter. It seems you still don't understand what it means to face a powerful Magi. I’ll have to carve that meaning into your body.>
Holly fired a huge bolt of lightning at the demon, colliding it against the attack she was sending her way. She put more energy into the attack, and it began to overtake the demon’s blade strikes. While she was fighting the demon, she sent out a message to Lumis and Terra.
<Lumis, start charging one of your stronger moves. I need you to help me finish off this demon once we weaken it. Terra, be prepared to assist that Saiyan at the right time.>
Both of them nodded, each doing what she asked. Each of them began charging their own attack. The fight for the fate of the Earth had begun. This time, Holly was going to make sure that she succeeded.
